The Center Hotel Grand Rapids Airport

Hotel changed owners after I had booked, and I was informed on arrival they did not have breakfast available, which was a major reason we booked here. Hotel is also under construction, which they also do not have on the listing. As most of the area was booked up we decided to stay and we're eventually offered a partial refund. We have not yet received the refund but only checked out this morning. We like that the family suite has room for six people, and it was fairly clean. The bathroom door is a bit awkward, and one of the cabinets was falling apart. We stayed three nights and had no housekeeping. The entire stay, even had to take our own towels down to the front desk to get clean towels. Overall this hotel just doesn't care for true customer service anymore.

The shuttle driver was very professional and everything went fast and smooth even through check in. Not many people were staying there because of the new ownership and switch over, but that did not keep the service from being top notch. I had a super quiet room and let me tell you that the workout facility is amazing. They even had a nice spinning bike , which is rare in hotels. And it was actually clean, which, again, gets overlooked in most places. I would definitely stay there again.

We we unaware that the place was under construction, so bar and breakfast area were closed. Not sure if they were in the process of putting up or dismantling a water slide, but they could've done a better job keeping the area cleaner. One of our rooms bathroom fan would NOT shut off. When we reported it to the front desk, the lady brushed us off and said they've already had maintenance check it out several times, and maintenance could not figure out why it wasn't working. Very annoying when trying to sleep or relax. My mom's room had moldy blankets and staff took forever to vome and change them and get the dirty ones out of the room. Very disappointed in Sonesta. I expected much better. Other staff were very nice, however.
