The front desk employee (only staff we encountered) was kind and I have 0 complaints. The property in general looks forgotten and neglected. It's quite sad because it seems to be in a good location with quite a few food options nearby and right off the highway. As a family with young kids, we prioritize pools and food nearby- not necessarily breakfast. The food options were sad and probably not necessary (packaged goods like honey buns or crunchy granola bars). The room was doing it's best, but it was sad and dingy. The pool area was probably the worst area in the hotel :( However, the pool water looked clean and smelled like chemicals so I felt okay to let my kids swim. This area was our halfway point on a road trip, so on the way back home we stayed at another hotel.

Walking in to the lobby and room I had to set my watch back 30 years. Rundown, pool closed indefinitely, breakfast was pathetic, furniture was distressed, stairwell was dark (and no elevator). Even though it was only 2 stories dragging heavy luggage up the dark stairs was a chore. Carpet was dirty as were some walls. I recommend a total redo or demolition. Oh, and they had taped notes to the side doors letting guests know that police come by with dogs to insure your safety. That did not make me feel safer. (I had a short video of the lamp shade but it's too big to send.)

Room was always cleaned when we'd come back from our trips. Very nice room and was a nice atmoshpere. Not sure why this place has some of the reviews it had because it was overall a nice place to stay! Not many complaints except, it says they have a free breakfast when that breakfast is just mainly granola bars and honey buns... the pool was also closed but only for renovating. There are beaches around the area anyways that we wouldve gone to if it wasnt a cold weekend!

It was nice and convenient if you are visiting Chestertown or Valparaiso, however don’t expect any amenities or cleanliness. Staff was nice but can’t do much about lack of proper or working facilities.

Housekeeping did not have any disposable gloves provided to them and went from room to room cleaning bathrooms and providing coffee setups and clean towels. We decided just to get restocked without having housekeeping enter our room for the week long stay. The laundry facilities are outdated and the dryer is broken. Continental breakfast during the week consisted of granola bars and coffee, noticed on Saturday that person setting up continental breakfast was not wearing disposable gloves. Bathroom sink very slow drainage(reported). Even with grab bars in bathroom, tub and floors very slippery. Garbage on floor from Panda Express behind bedside table. First night stay Valparaiso city police were on sight and knocking on doors.

Found what I thought was a bedbug in the room. I took pictures and called the front desk. The lady said that it was not a bedbug. It was just a beetle. The rest of the room looked clean. There Was no sign of bedbugs. I sent the picture to Orkin pest control on their website, and they confirm that it was indeed and an engouged (had recent fed) bedbug. The property was nice especially for the price but not worth bringing home a $2000 plus pest issue.

We checked in and went to the room. After getting in the room we seen cockroaches and we went right back to the front desk and checked right back out. They refunded us our money and we ended up at the holiday inn. Paid more but did not have to deal with bugs. WILL NOT EVER GO BACK TO SUPER 8

This place was ok. overpriced for a Super 8. The room was generally clean, the nooks and cranny were dirty. the around the sink faucet and the hairdryer cord was caked with dirt. they advertise a breakfast, theres no real breakfast. instant oatmeal and juice.

This property is dirty, had bed bugs. Booked for my family for the night, inspected room before taking family in. Bed bugs old worn sheets, the guy at the desk was very rude, told me that it is like that, because it is cheap. Said all that stays there" are nexicans" that the have been fixing the place up , because of that. It has not been fixed up at all. Ruined my whold families trip. All local hotels were booked, and because of the vad conditions of this place, my family turned around and came back home. Therefore, i didnt get to take my grandkids to the beach as planned.

Stayed in room 107 a little noisy from people walking upstairs. Toilet was super loose and super short. The shower spout needs changed because when shower turned on water still domes out the spout. The drywall patching in the room was atrocious. I would say you have some serious maintenance issues.

I was shocked at how clean this older hotel is maintained. Does it have issues? Yes, because of its age, the walls are thin, making it awkward when the people in the next room had sex in the middle of the afternoon. ( The lady was a screamer). I was more amused than angry. But if you don't mind hearing others and you want a clean place to stay, I can recommend this place, which is within walking distance to Red Robin and Panda Express

The people at this hotel were so friendly and helpful! The reception desk was cute and decorated for Valentine's Day. Our receptionist made sure I had a fully accessible room near the entrance, and the morning staff made our breakfast a little earlier since we had to leave early. The bed was really comfortable and the room was spacious. A great 2 nights.

Cindy at the front desk is amazing, She was able to get me in my room earlier than I expected. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job. My room was clean and comfortable. Definitely would stay here again.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was just okay. A/C was super loud. Bed was uncomfortable. I found an m&ms wrapper behind the nightstand. Didn't use the shower so not sure about that. Location was great... quiet but close to all sorts of things. A decent place to stay if you're just looking for an okay's night sleep.

The room was clean and nice. The overstuffed chair in the room had seen better days, the arms were threadbare. There was really not much of a breakfast at all. Oatmeal packets but no milk to put on it, nothing but packaged rolls and bars. Only fruit was oranges. Don't really call that a breakfast. The regular coffee was empty and no one came to replace it while we were there.

A bit run down hotel, I wish that for $170 range one would get a breakfast with something warm. Anything. It was only stale cinnamon buns in plastic and coffee with cereal. Hotel itself is ok, but a bit tired.
