MainStay Suites MSP Airport - Mall of America

—The check-in process took 30 minutes, why? —The ice makers on floors 2, 3, and 4 did not work. No ice available. —In a room overlooking the parking lot with bright flood lights, there were no shades or drapes to block the light.

We planned on staying at this hotel and as advertised it has free onsite parking lot for the airport. I felt like this was a bait and switch business model. All hotels around the area post the amount per day to park but this hotel states on Expedia free onsite parking but was not. $15 per day for a lot is steep. Rooms were decent and the Outback restaurant is nice. Shuttle to the airport leaves every 30 minutes and fills up quickly.

We had 3 rooms for our family. Two of them were acceptable. The third room smelled of smoke, light switches did not work. The door was broken so slammed shut everytime you opened it. We paid extra to park 2 cars and use the airport shuttle. On our return trip we waited over an hour to get picked up. We had to call 4 times to get our Scheduled pickup on the return of our trip.

My stay here was very inconvenient, when checking in the clerk charged my card 3x for 1 room and was told that there was nothing they could do until the payment posted which was very inconvenient. One of the beds in the room was broken. The hotel comes with free shuttle to and from the airport and to the mall however upon checkout almost missed my flight due to requesting a shuttle and an hour went by with no response. Overall my daughter enjoyed her birthday weekend , but I will never stay at this hotel again!

I called the direct reservation line to ask about park and fly rates- they said parking is complimentary for guests- including long stays while we fly, and even if we chose to book with Expedia. I thanked James for the information and proceeded to book with Expedia. We arrived at the hotel at 11pm after a five hour drive. The front desk informed me it is $20 per day to park and whoever told me it was free told me wrong. He was not empathetic and did not attempt to resolve the misinformation at all. His tone was curt and dismissive. I called customer service to complain but have not heard back. The hotel is understaffed and smelled like pot. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable.

For the price i paid definitely doesnt look like the pictures that were advertised and ended up very disappointed. Room wasnt totally clean had dark spots on comforter on the bed.water pressure in shower was horrible. Pool was not heated and over crowded. There was vomit all over trash can and by one of the tables by the pool and the bathrooms were not cleaned as well as guys bathroom was out of order. There was a older guy at front desk with glasses who was very rude when asked a simple question about wifi and the area. Parking lot had broken glass and trash all over. Hallways smelled a mix between musty and of weed. Only thing positive about the property was the fact of having an outback steakhouse attached food was good and service was great.

Property is decent. Staff is helpful. shuttle van has duct tape over the 2nd row seat belt buckle on the floor. I cut my leg getting out of the 3rd and getting through between the seats and now have a 1.5” long scar on my leg.

Heated pool was NOT heated

When we arrived the pool was broken and closed so we resigned to watching TV which also didn't work. We had front desk guy come up and he couldn't get it to work either, I've machine was broke also so he wanted to move us and we said can we just get our money back and go elsewhere and he said sure but when we had Expedia requested our refund they declined. It was very fidgeting that they treat customers that way. Stay somewhere else

Felt like an area I would not want to be alone. Hallways had a marijuana odor, lots of trash outside rooms. My Credit card was charged twice; they had to look into it and assured me they would remove the 2nd charge.

The Hallway smells like weed, the front desk seemed irritated we were there and seemed like the place was just sketchy

There was food left in our room from the previous guests and someone was smoking on our floor which caused the smoke detector to activate.

It was clean and the kitchen looked like it was set to get used.

TOTAL different place! We arrive 30 minutes early before check in and are room was not ready, no problem we waited around in the lounge. As we were in the lounge we did hear an elderly couple angry getting a refund and it did concern us. We finally got our room and wanted to locate the room before we moved our vehicle to whatever side of the building the room was on. Got into the elevator and the odor was bad, buttons were broken… No biggie… Got to our room on the 3rd floor and it was just dirty, crumbs all over and all on the floor. We head back down to the car to move it to our side of the building closer to our room and ALL of the other doors are broken(out of order). Finally got back to the room and we bring wipes with so we started to wipe stuff down and it was just absolutely filthy. There was a hole under the bathroom sink with cold air coming through it. WE HAD NO HOT WATER. The air unit that provides the hot/cold air to the room has mold alllll over it we recorded it. The vending machines and ice machines were broken. Parking was ridiculous almost as if other people from other hotels are parking there. I can go on an on, we definitely should be refunded but it was my birthday and I just didn’t want to deal with trying to find another hotel.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to a single person. From check in, we were told they wouldn’t be cleaning our room because the staff was “too busy”. She told us we could walk down to the front desk for extra essentials if we “really needed them”. That wasn’t terrible so whatever then we get to our room and there’s mold surrounding the heater unit and the exterior window. Disgusting. The tub still had hair in it from the previous guest and there was an empty apple juice jug under the chair. Guess their housekeeping was just “too busy”. We went to go to the pool hoping it would redeem our stay but the pool was insanely cold, no way it was a temp over 60. The room the pool in was also no warmer than 70 which isn’t typical for that environment. The exterior door on the side entrance was propped open with a brick because the card reader was broken. It was left propped the first night which is a huge security risk. I never mentioned this to the front desk because each time we passed, they appeared to simply “too busy” and not from other guests. Super disappointing. The only thing this place has going for it would be the location.

Hotel looks great from the outside but not so much on the inside especially when you get to your room it look like somebody had a hair coloring party in the bathroom the countertops are all stained with red and white what appears to be hair dye there is what I hope is melted wax all over the nightstands and counters in the kitchenette and in the bathroom and there is a slight smell of urine close to the bathroom kind of nasty

Old and dirty, the staff was also really insistent that we needed to park in the back which didn't feel as safe. My sleep was terrible due to noise from the air conditioner, and constant light from the window.

Room was nice. Clean. TV remote didn't work. AC was loud, loud enough to drown out the TV. But, the room was clean. Bathroom was large and bright. Bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly but, the hotel was sold out so they were busy!

First room given had an AC unit that absolutely could not keep up with the heat outside. After one night, we couldn't tolerate it anymore and talked to the front desk and they were able to move us to a room with working AC no problem. Rooms were relatively clean and staff was very friendly.

The process for airport pick up was great. The hotel is attached to Outback restaurant which was packed but once seated service was great. Since it’s right nice to the interstate I found it noisy.

The room was spacious and clean however the safe in the room was not working. The drains were clogged. Me and my family went to the pool & we were told they ran out of towels so we had to walk to the room drenched. The customer service here could’ve been a lot better. It was just ok here. Good for a weekend only nothing more

We had a kitchenette room only enough dishes for people there was 3 of us only 1 pan. One of the pillow cases was dirty, it was noisy, the internet and TV kept going in and out. We'll never stay there again.

Problems: 1. The sink and the bath tub both would not drain 2. The air conditioner and fan would not work 3. The entire 3rd floor smell like weed excessively 4. The "queen beds" were the size of twin beds 5. Parking was impossible due to Outback Steakhouse in the same parking lot Likes: 1. Very quiet hotel 2. Staff was wonderful 3. Beds were soft 4. Very close to the Mall of America 5. Loved the kitchenette

The room was clean, but room service didn’t come around, and clean the room at all doing the four day stay. The safe was locked and I asked it to be unlocked so we could use it, they never came to do it. I had to keep asking for towels and going to the front desk to pick them up.

Friendly staff, good amenities, good location

Hotel worked fine for our stay but should have spent a little more to stay somewhere nicer. We stayed for 3 nights. Every day you had to call to get new towels and it was hit or miss if they actually got delivered. The first morning a Friday we were awakened to the sound of people breaking up the sidewalk outside our window with sledgehammers which wasn’t great. Morning two a Saturday morning we awakened to the sound of a cement saw cutting the sidewalk outside our window. Other than that it was very close to the mall of America and didn’t have bedbugs or anything like that so sorta a win!

I really enjoyed my stay here. I loved that it had shuttle service not just to airport but to MOA. The breakfast was hot and plentiful. And staff was always helpful. I would definitely stay again and recommend to others

Clean and large rooms. Good price close to airport.

Airline delay late at night: free shuttle was a life saver. Bran cereal at free breakfast was good and only there 5 hrs and back to airport.

It was a good place to stay. I’d stay there again. The only problem I really had was the horrible coffee maker they chose to provide. I bought k cups but could not successfully make a cup of coffee. Very frustrating.
