Extended Stay America Suites - Merrillville - US Rte 30

Check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and my stay was very peaceful. They do have work being done on the roof, so it can get noisy, but after 6pm it quiets down.

The elevators were not working. The most convienent entry door was out of order. Was told that a room on tge first floor would be found but then told none was available. When I asked the room be cleaned, I was told that my stay was no long enough to warrant room veing cleaned. When I filed a complaint about the amount of walking to reach room I was told that management felt if I did not like the room I should have moved to another hotel.

It's clean but elevator wasn't working & had been down for over 2 weeks. Which means ppl have to carry heavy bags & things upstairs. Luckily the clerk switched my room to the ground floor.

Bare bones hotel. Breakfast is included , but it grab and go items only. No hot food. Wireless internet is not included.

The front desk staff were friendly and courteous. Very helpful and gave great directions and feedback. I did not like the cart that was there to use, very hard to maneuver. I did not like the doors to the hotel were not automatic..it was hard to get the cart through the doors without a lot of effort. I did not like the temperature of the water, it was lukewarm. I did not like the water pressure. I wish there was coffee all day long and not certain hours. The ads say that there is a fully equipped kitchen however there were no plates or silverware. Had to go to front desk to get them .. also could get a coffee pot for the room but no coffee. Even though there were a little irritants, the customer service will bring me back.

Staff acts like you’re a bother to check in. Told me no rooms were available after my booking, but luckily got me in one. Not much parking at all. Rooms were ok but overall just stay elsewhere.

They gave my room away without any kind of notice/communication with me until i showed up to check in.. then even then i wasn't given any real explanation just an attitude like i was bothering them. I later found out there were bad storms all around the area. It's completely understandable to give my room away to locals in need but not ok to shoo me away without explanation leaving us confused and frantically searching on an area that was never going to be available. Not to mention they still charged me and took days to answer and fulfill a refund.

Me and my wife travel down to celebrate my sisters birthday the hotel itself was decent parking can be a little bit scarce at times almost as if they don't have enough parking spaces to accommodate the amount of rooms and guests they have. The staff was friendly. The Hotel itself is in need of a serious remodeling. The room seemed clean except the floors, old carpet visibly in need of cleaning and when walking around in your room please do yourself a favor and wear some house shoes or some thick socks you don't care about. If not the bottom of your feet will be black and dirty. Water pressure in the shower is very low and the shower head is also outdated and in need of replacements. The complimentary breakfast is pretty much a joke it's basically brand bars, blueberry and chocolate chip muffins, powdered cocoa, and coffee. Sometimes bottled water is available. The Wi-Fi is adequate, the kitchenette in the room is convenient, but the TV itself is a little small and could also be updated. There is no room cleaning available unless you go to the counter and make a request meaning if you want your bed to be remade with Fresh Linen daily you will have to remove the sheets and comforters yourself bring them down to the front counter and they will in return give you clean linen that you yourself must put on the bed. If you choose to cook something in your room you must go to the front counter and request pots pans and dishes also there is no ice maker in this hotel.

This property is exactly as one would expect for an extended stay. Its clean, low cost, the tvs worked, full kitchen, parking was easy, checkin was easy. The staff and GM were so friendly!! Low frills and easy.

The staff was great and helpful. There is a laundry facility that was inexpensive. The environment was very neat and clean. No apparent elicit drug use if there was any at all.

The staff at front desk was about the only plus to this property. It’s run down and grungy. I wouldn’t say dirty but just outdated and needs major overhaul with scrubbing walls and updating everything. Our entire side of the 3rd floor smelled like cigarette smoke. I didn’t see much other than our room because it was a quick stop and sleep then leave bright and early. It was decent enough to sleep at but not much else.

The rooms where amazingly clean and nice and the staff good internet wifi

The front desk staff was so nice and accommodating, but the 1st room we went into, the furniture and walls were run down. Something gross was splashed on the wall and the bathroom was dirty, there was hair all over the sink. They swapped us no problem, and the next room was a little better but it’s obvious they aren’t super strict with the cleaning.

One night stay. No complaints. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Helpful staff. Would stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay everything was nice and clean housekeeping and office staff friendly and made you feel welcome good attitude it’s nice and quiet . A place I will come back to stay they have won me over

While this is not the newest and most modern hotel I've ever stayed in, it is certainly among the cleanest and best maintained. What a pleasant surprise! The night before, I stayed at a Comfort Suites across the parking lot that was the absolute worst and filthiest I have ever experienced ... and the Extended Stay America was at least $40 cheaper for the same night. Go figure! I highly recommend the Extended Stay America in Merrillville, Ind.

Room wasn't clean. Cigarettes, hygiene wrappers, and food in the drawers. Crumbs all over. Remote covered in food (maybe). Bathroom sink wouldn't empty, plunger broken so stopper couldn't be lifted. Obviously sink wasn't cleaned, you would have noticed. Mechanism was completely gone. Told front desk of issues, "Ok, thank you". I'm in rooms 2-3 months, worst I've been in maybe ever. Especially for $115/night. $70/80 I'd expect it. No bugs!!

Great room for the price. Room had a ref, micro, and stove top

I was never able to use the wifi, which was really frustrating bc I have a limited amount of data. The staff are very friendly!

The staff was excellent, and they accommodated us very well. The bed was hard, and the pillows weren’t great. The room was very clean, as well as. The bathroom.

Staff was excellent very attentive and friendly, however the condition of the room is very dated. The carpet needs to be replaced is had a smell. The furniture and countertops were very worn.

Only problem I had could hear the traffic all night from the interstate

The room was nice and comfortable, having a full size refrigerator and a stove top helped

We left a bag at the hotel and they called us to inform us of this as quickly as they could. Lovia was there at the front desk and held the bag for us at the front desk. I love how the room feels like a mini apartment has a cozy home feeling to it

It was okay overall. Once issue was that we went down to exchange our towels for new ones at about 10pm, and the front desk said we couldn't do it until the morning. That was inconvienent as we understood that we could get new towels from 7am to 11pm.

My stay was very pleasant especially with the staff. Julius was such a huge help with everything and making sure that my stay would be very comfortable. Good people like Julius are hard to find, I was very lucky to book at this property!

I never did stay there a reservation was made through Expedia but the hotel didn't have any rooms available. While talking with the lady at the front desk someone else booked a room through Expedia only to be turned away because no rooms available. Still waiting on a refund after the lady verified that there was no rooms and cancel for a refund. Never again.

We were traveling and got to the property late. My room was reserved and paid for. I was not aware of any policy for late arrivals but when we got there, the door to the lobby was locked and there was no one at the front desk. We tried calling but got no answer. We called the reservation desk and they called and got no answer. We waited 30 min and no one came. Needless to say we had to find another hotel by then it was well after midnight! Terrible experience even trying to get a refund!

We had confirmed reservations and our credit card was charged but the hotel had no rooms when we arrived. I couldn't get any response or support from Hotels.com. By the time we gave up and found somewhere else to stay, it was 9:00pm.

I like the area, it's by the mall and plenty of eating places. What I didn't like was the carpet in the room was a little dirty and warm out

I was impressed with the helpfulness of the staff and the quietness. The quick breakfast was nice and I loved the convenience of the Southlake Mall.. Another plus was the Microwave and Refrigerator. I would stay here again.

We had a good stay. The price was in line with the quality of the hotel. The hotel was quiet even on a Saturday night, which was a guge plus for us. The room was clean.

Room was good and clean. The description said breakfast included, but it was just coffee and stale granola bars and pre-packaged tiny muffins. That is NOT breakfast.

I only stayed for one night, but everything was great! I was traveling to Chicago, but didn’t want to stay directly in the city. The only “issue” (if you even want to call it an issue) that they say there’s a complimentary breakfast, but it is just a cart with nutrigrain bars, muffins, and coffee. I was fine with that because I’m typically a late riser with my second shift work schedule (I’m use to going out and getting breakfast/lunch anyways). The room was clean! I loved the staff! Everyone was super friendly! Would stay here if I travel up north again.

This was a clean and comfortable stay, but the breakfast left much to be desired as it only consisted of oatmeal and prepackaged muffins. I wasn't going to give my son coffee, so that left us with not options from the meager offerings.

The rooms are very comfortable. Really nice having space and a larger refrigerator. However, if you are looking for a sit down breakfast, you will be disappointed. Breakfast is served from a counter and consists of coffee, wrapped muffins, granola bars and instant oatmeal.

Everything is good, I just wish they had more options in terms of breakfast food.
