We used this hotel as a stopover from the north west on the way to Cornwall. The hotel is lovely, old fashioned but fairly modern . The grounds are pleasant and the staff were friendly. Food was also good. EV chargers were a welcome bonus and worked well and weren’t overly expensive. My only gripe was that it was exceedingly hot when we were there and the hotel didn’t have air conditioning. I understand that in an older hotel but when I asked for a fan, I was told that someone had decided to take them all apart to clean them…..on one of the hottest days of the year. I just thought it wasn’t good planning on someone’s part.

Perfect stay from start to finish! Check in the receptionist was lovely very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. We used the spa facilities both days on our stay, the pool area is lovely, everything was really clean, your able to relax with drinks from the bar, we had massages and they were lovely! Breakfast was perfect, there was continental and a choice from the kitchen to order, staff were amazing very attentive, and there was no waiting time. Once again very clean and helpful! Would highly recommend this Hotel and would definitely travel back here again.

Warm welcome, fuss free check in. Room easy to find and was clean and comfortable. Plenty of toiletries in the bathroom. Lovely pod coffee machine. We used the spa and facilities. The only negative i can say is that it was very busy so we had no where to sit. People put towels on the beds but didnt use them for a long time. Breakfast was good. Small selection but plenty of options.

Perfect for my needs spa is a bonus but some parts look tired and need some extra attention ( tiles in the pool stained long hair floating in pool and pipes of the water jet very oxi dated) sauna need fixing and cleaning . food very good and room modern comfy and spotless . Extra touch the lovely house kitty that was roaming around super cute and friendly. I love the fact there are charging point so next time I will benefit of it ! Ease advertise it in the website as it’s a massive selling point!

Had a nice spa weekend with a group of friends, afternoon tea was not great as the sandwiches were not very fresh but they served a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. Good spa facilities but it was quite busy so we could not get loungers for the first hour of being, which was disappointing.

Fantastic location and fascinating 17th century building comprised by modernity. A hotel idea has been forced into the property that should have been given to the national trust. The spa facility is a novelty woven into the aesthetic of a hotel blueprint, with dirty pool water, staffed by teenagers with weird eye lashes. Beware of the peak times to visit the spa, either as a guest or as a visiting member of the public as the facilities are far, far too small to accommodate lots of people. If you dine here, either having breakfast or dinner be also prepared for a peak time to eat and queuing to find somewhere to sit, as once again the facilities are too small to accommodate the amount of people in the hotel. Dinner seems chaotic with elderly ladies as waiting staff running around like they are on fire, forgetting what you ordered. They look stressed and under staffed and need help with the visitors staying in the hotel. The room we stayed had walls as thin as paper. Conversation can be heard from your neighbours next door as well flatulence and belching. We happened to stay while a coach load of Japanese tourists were being shuttled through Gloucestershire, their preparation to leave woke us up at 4am as the walls are so thin. Enjoyed our stay, not perfect but ok. The staff care about what they do, it just needs some extra support and incentivising for them to make it golden for everyone who comes to stay. Keep doing what you are doing but you can do it better.

The hotel itself wasn't that bad. Pleasant staff. My room was not cleaned properly. We foumd a birthday card from the previous people . I stood on a bottle top that was from the previous guests. The net curtain had blood on it we think . The bathroom was not grear either. Cracked tiles missing grout onthe floor tiles. Noisy toilet and the shower head had never been cleaned by the looks of things. Creeky floor boards of which you can see in the carpet the pattern of the boards . Bed was comfortable.

We were away celebrating my Daughter’s 25th Birthday. I travel frequently and stay in many hotels. This hotel room was tired and for the cost of the room was poor. We had just stayed and came from a Leonardo Hotel which was considerably more refreshing stay nearly half the price per night. Bad points of the Hotel Room very tired, mould on ceiling in Bathroom,Bath Panel and in window sill. Big stain on carpet floor, marks on the walls, kettle seen better days,welcome pack such as Tea bags, coffee was very poor, 1 hot chocolate sachet. Poor sleep dogs barking ( 4 times through the night and early morning). Good points Staff good and a good Breakfast

Positives - Great service on reception and in the spa. Bed was comfy. Negatives - Toe nail clippings on the carpet in the room. Lots of spiders and spider webs in the room. Lots of dust collected on surfaces. Walls very thin so had to listen to my neighbours doing the business at 23:57. Only for a couple on minutes though!

The rooms were stuffy and hot, you could open the window but we was on the ground floor with a very bright flood light directly above. You couldn’t keep the huge curtains open to let any air in coz there was people constantly walking past the windows late into the night or early hours of the morning. The spa was very limited, you couldn’t have any treatments unless you booked in advance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were quite clean but the bathrooms needed a good clean around the shower as it had the red bacteria around the tile grout. We found the food menu very limited as I’m gluten intolerant and was only really offered GF toast at breakfast. The dinner menu was not to our taste. For what we paid for this weekend away at this hotel, it definitely was not worth the money spent.

The hotel building is attractive and its location in the countryside is a bonus. Unfortunately my experience of the bedroom was unpleasant. The carpet is stained and the room looked tired with a dated decor. The mattress was uncomfortable. Most inconvenient was the lack of soundproofing between the rooms. My neighbour had the TV on until late, then I could hear them snoring, my room was near a fire door which was opened and closed loudly. A sleepless and uncomfortable night! I’m n the plus side, the restaurant food was good.

I've been to Hatherley a few times for weddings and to use the spa. Decided to stay the night before a spa day. Was a little underwhelmed and disappointed. The room and bathroom could do with an update. Just a few cosmetic issues. But the main issue was the noise. Rooms aren't soundproof and my window wasn't double glazed. My room was facing inwards too so the noise of the hotel's functions was like a constant hum all day. Room became stuffy but can't open window because of the noise and heavy rain. I could hear people boiling kettles, using hair dryer, coughing... was just impossible getting a good night's sleep. Not quite the peaceful countryside break I was hoping for. Bathroom is dated, shower head was rusted and stuck to the wall so no way to adjust. Breakfast was ok. Included in the price but have to pay extra for certain items such a full English. Didn't have time to order a cooked breakfast so had tea and pastries.

Property was clean. Our room had an odd smell so had to be moved. What let the property down was WiFi not working for both days, and loud music played in all public areas very loud so you could hear this the room. Constant illuminating glow from a ceiling device, large gap in bedroom door to hall which also illuminates the room, no staff available before 7am which meant we could not check out at 6:15 when we needed to leave. Staff however highly attentive and good just let down by rooms and setup.

Hotel from the outside looks spectacular. The downstairs restaurant and lounge area also looks classy. Then you go to your room and you think you’ve travelled back in time. Rooms are so dated. The paint on the walls was peeling off. Also, no aircon!.

This is a nice property in a super location, the grounds are lovely. We had a classic spa room, a double, which was clean and tidy. It was extremely hot in the room (there was a heatwave) but there is no air con. We slept with window open. The spa was good and we used it twice, helpful staff and good facilities. A few things were not so good, albeit minor, our tea in coffee in the room was not replenished, we only noticed when I came to make a drink the next morning, the cups had been cleaned and replaced but we had nothing to put in them. The arrangement at breakfast is a little odd, certain items are i9ncluded some are not. We asked for American pancakes which were extra, we had a frittata the previous day which was included. The pancakes were disappointing. there is excellent parking at the hotel, it is served well by the road network and there is cat who lives there , which we thought was rather nice.

Perfect stay from start to finish! Check in the receptionist was lovely very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. We used the spa facilities both days on our stay, the pool area is lovely, everything was really clean, your able to relax with drinks from the bar, we had massages and they were lovely! Breakfast was perfect, there was continental and a choice from the kitchen to order, staff were amazing very attentive, and there was no waiting time. Once again very clean and helpful! Would highly recommend this Hotel and would definitely travel back here again.

Room was spot on, breakfast, bar staff, couldn't fault the place or the service, all apart from the miserable abrupt unhelpful receptionist when we first arrived! Perhaps she could benefit from a course in customer service? I might add we said/did nothing to antagonise her, we are polite people. Disappointing!

An ok stay but could have been so much more as it’s an old lovely building and good location on the edge of Cheltenham. A brusque and business like check in, rather than friendly and focusing on the customer experience. Room ok but for a superior/de luxe room I would have expected more space and a view. The view was of the roof only. Couldn’t get us a taxi to get us to the wedding we were going to on time. In the end I ordered an Uber which was there within 8 minutes. Breakfasts were good both days, the restaurant staff provided a friendlier service and were helpful and customer focused. A bit of customer experience training and the Hatherley Manor would be fine.

Bedroom was rather plain but the bed was v.good and v. good bathroom. The £25 extra for 2hrs spa access was steep when only needed a 30 min swim, so didn't bother. Food good and wines excellent. Would go back but would shop around first.

We used this hotel as a stopover from the north west on the way to Cornwall. The hotel is lovely, old fashioned but fairly modern . The grounds are pleasant and the staff were friendly. Food was also good. EV chargers were a welcome bonus and worked well and weren’t overly expensive. My only gripe was that it was exceedingly hot when we were there and the hotel didn’t have air conditioning. I understand that in an older hotel but when I asked for a fan, I was told that someone had decided to take them all apart to clean them…..on one of the hottest days of the year. The Property is in a quiet area. Very tranquil. Nice to relax & Unwind. Everything was Great. Very happy to recommend for a Weekend stay. We stayed here, whilst attending a family wedding close by. We even managed to get some shopping in @ Gloucester Quays. A Perfect Stay . All Staff 100% .

We had only one issue- food that should have been hot was served very cool… three times. This included high risk food with prawns, fish and a broth which I sent back and which was returned very little warmer, and eggs Benedict in which the poached egg and the sauce were as cool as the fish dish… as if they’d been standing on a counter for at least 20 minutes. Worrying. I spoke with the restaurant manager before I left. All their staff were delightful!! The room, despite a big wedding party, was quiet overnight, parking was very easy.

The food was appalling sadly. Dinner - the staff didn’t know the menu, when ordering steak, we weren’t asked on how we wanted it cooked. Steak was very average and very pricey for what it was. Honey roasted carrots weren’t roasted. Quality of the food was appalling for the price. Staff were really young and also didn’t know what cheeses were on offer on the cheeseboard. A very expensive meal where it was well below standard you could even cook at home. Breakfast - long queue to get in, shocking standard of food. Duty manager couldn’t seem to care less. Bacon sandwich would have been nicer from a truck stop. No butter, no colour to the bacon. Spa - over priced, small and easily overcrowded

Nice property and a comfortable nights sleep. It’s a shame it appears they rely on extras to boost the price. Charging more for full English breakfast, and each dog staying seems a bit penny pinching when breakfast is stated as included. Appears cheaper when booking and then works out more expensive. Clever marketing that leaves guests not as catered for as you had hoped. That’s a shame as it’s a nice building situated in a nice area in a good location.

The impressive property is set alongside fields and has an amazing, fully functioning spa. The staff are all very approachable and friendly. It was a let down by the vegan food - £14 for a salad where the lettuce was just iceberg, and the 24 hour menu contains NOTHING without meat / dairy. Even the hummus & pitta contains dairy, and the hummus was not available anyway for the entirety of our stay. Why don’t you just take it off the menu?

I.e. gardens to explore, outdoor activities, indoor activities (games room, cinema, more lounge areas spread throughout).
