Very unique hotel in a delightful way. Upon arrival a personalized welcoming message handwritten on my bathroom mirror. Staff excellent, very clean room, shower fantastic and bed comfortable. Single room not large but perfect for a solo traveler. Location and neighborhood wonderful right next to the Opera and virtually around the corner from the Royal Palace. Short walk to the legislature and president’s office. The only improvement would be to update the rooms as it appears they were decorated around the year 2000. All in all a very enjoyable stay. I would stay again.

Everything about my stay was satisfactory to superior. The only question I have is about the cost of water. Upon arrival I found water in my room in a rather heavy glass bottle. I drank it and was refreshed. I went to the front desk with a question on my second day there and asked for a refill. The desk clerk told me the water was a one time thing for my entire stay.

Excellent small boutique hotel. Perfectly tucked away behind Gran Via so nice and quiet. Rooms were good size but on the smaller side however Excellent rates. Mini bar, fridge, desk and decent size bathroom. Staff made the place so comfortable.

For a 2 star hotel, this place did not disappoint. The checkin was fast & easy. They provide free breakfast but charged us for 1 extra person because I didn't checkin my wife. They did offer us an upgrade & also charged extra. Overall, we would recommend this hotel.

Hotel com uma localização excelente (próximo a quase tudo a pé). O atendimento também foi excelente, funcionários solicitos. O hotel é limpo e organizado, as instalações estão em boas condições. O quarto possui um chuveiro bom, cama confortável, cofre, espelhos e espaço adequado para duas pessoas. O hotel possui elevador e rampas de acesso. Café da manhã muito bom. Com certeza é uma ótima opção de hospedagem em Madri, eu voltaria a me hospedar.

Im confused as to why this is a 2* hotel, maybe to do with facilities because i would certainly rate it a big 4* Location was perfect for me, easy to visit all the sights. Staff extremely welcoming and friendly. Room had everything needed toiletries, fully stocked mini bar and including a personalised welcome message and gift which i though was a lovely touch. Nice breakfast and room service food was available if required. Had a brilliant stay and would certainly return and recommend

Room Mate Mario is in an excellent location, just a short walk to attractions, shopping, restaurants, as well as transportation. The cab ride from the Puerta de Atocha train station took about fifteen minutes. It was raining on the day of the exit, and taxis were not readily available, so plan an earlier exit if the weather is bad. The hotel combines neighboring buildings and you’ll feel like you’re in an M. C. Escher drawing when first looking for your room. Getting to the first floor can be confusing. But you’ll get used to it. If you want to have a relaxing breakfast, go early. It can get hectic and the staff has a hard time keeping up with the volume. Plates, coffee cups, utensils and juice glasses are not always available at the same time. There is only one coffee machine, but there is one in your room if you want to get started early. Rooms vary in size. Our group booked three rooms. Street facing rooms have small balconies. Most rooms are small, but comfortable. I had a larger room with a view of an atrium. The sinks in our rooms were outside the restroom. Ironing boards are available on request. I would return to Room Mate Mario on a future visit to Madrid.

Solo traveler. Easy check in. Extremely helpful. Lovely staff. Large room with a comfortable bed, mini fridge and kettle. Everything in walking distance. Supermarket next to the hotel. Many dining options close to the hotel. I would stay here again.

Lovely hotel, in a superb area, close to public transport. The room had everything we needed, including air conditioning and also a fridge. There was plenty of choice for breakfast with fresh fruit, juice and both continental and cooked breakfast. Would definitely be my first choice of where to stay for visiting Madrid.

I was in room 214. The room stank of sewage no matter what, was easily 25 degrees even with the window open and heat turned off, and the shower leaked into the bathroom constantly. Good location, nice people, OK breakfast

O quarto era limpo, amplo, porém de carpete. O que deixou a desejar foi o banheiro, em que há uma divisória de vidro e o lugar de tomar banho fica no mesmo nível, então se ligar o chuveiro mais forte, alaga o banheiro todo. Isso é péssimo, pq molha o carpete e fica com cheiro de mofo. Isso aconteceu conosco e tivemos que deixar as janelas abertas o dia todo para secar o carpete.

The hotel is in a great location; however the room didn’t have much light and no reading light. The shower was very awkward and you had to enter the shower from the hallway because the door doesn’t allow entrance from the bathroom. The breakfast was terrible and mostly inedible.

Beautiful room. Sadly, the air conditioner is centralized so it is either on full blast or not at all. Staff was wonderful. Our room had nice little balconies looking over the charming street. But if you are sensitive to noise, get a room, facing inward. The street is a sound tunnel.

The hotel is in a great location and the aesthetics are nice, but there are definitely some quirks about this place (our room) we were not fans of. - The carpet is pretty cheap. It reminded me of the carpet I had in my college apartment, which was pretty bad. No padding, just basically thin carpet on top of concrete. - There are no black out curtains. I don’t know any hotels nowadays that do not have blackout curtains, so that was a surprise. - The shower and toilet are in a separate room which is fine, but the standing shower is on a step-up level. It’s basically a walk-in with a half glass partition and no door, which means when you shower, even with the lowest water pressure, it completely floods the area. You could see the water damage at the bottom of the door where this has happened repeatedly. We used three towels to clean up all the water so we weren’t stepping in water whenever we used the toilet. - The walls aren’t super thin, but thin enough to hear our neighbors talking when I turned off my white noise app. - The TV is in the middle of the room above the desk. We get that the room is not the biggest, but it would’ve made more sense to have the TV along the wall by the bed so you can at least view it from the bed not limiting you to have to sit at a desk in a cheap plastic chair.

La chambre était mignonne, le lit super confortable et il y avait beaucoup de rangements (sauf la salle de bains). Le seul hic a été le bruit : au 2eme étage, on écoutait les pas des voisins du dessus et on écoutait aussi les allées et venues dans les couloirs. Léger problème d’isolation.

Excellent stay. 3rd time back. Just the air conditioning might be a little better. Not a huge issue as windows open and there is little to no noise. Jimmy on reception really frightened our day aftwr a long day of travelling. Excellent location in Madrid, pick this hotel for your stay.

Bonjour, nous avons séjourné 3 nuits. Nous avons eu un très beau séjour. L’hôtel est très très bien situé. On peut tout visiter à pieds. Juste à 2-3 minutes de la Gran via. Le déjeuner était très satisfaisant. Rien de négatif de ce côté à redire. Point négatif : nous avions réservé notre séjour dans une chambre incluant un et c’est ce que nous avions payé. Malheureusement, sans nous le préciser, on nous a donné une chambre avec un grand lit ce qui n’est pas la même dimension et le même prix. J’ai dû retourner à l’accueil et insister pour avoir la chambre qui nous avions payée. La jeune fille à l’accueil me disait sans cesse qu’elle était désolée et que toutes les chambres étaient louées pour notre séjour de 3 nuits. Je n’ai pas bougé de l’accueil et j’ai attendu qu’elle trouve une solution . Finalement, elle a appelé le superviseur et on nous a trouvé une petite chambre avec un très grand lit. Ce n’était pas exactement la superficie que nous avions payée mais bon, il semble que nous n’avions pas d’autres choix. Soyez vigilants lors de votre récupération de votre chambre et surtout apportez des bouchons, c’est bruyant la nuit dans les couloirs.

We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. We requested to change rooms for a larger and sunnier space, and the manager was very responsive, quickly finding us an available option and assisting with the move for a small additional fee. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained. The location is excellent, with everything within easy walking distance.

The staff was very helpful. Front desk went above and beyond to insure our expectations were met. My wife and I come to Madrid every year and this trip we decided to stay somewhere out of our normal. I have to admit I was a little hesitant to stay here. However this was one of the best choices we made. The staff really made us feel like they wanted us to stay with them and did everything to make us feel comfortable. Everything from the welcoming when we walked in to the treats in the room to suggestions on places to eat and just having small talk like we knew them for years. They even let us store our bags after check out so we could enjoy our last day in Madrid. Everyone the we spoke to at the front desk spoke multiple languages so communication was great. I’ll definitely be staying with them again next year.

Llegue al hotel y NO tenian habitación disponible, no me avisaron que me habían asignado a otro hotel de la misma cadena asi que tuve que yo mismo trasladarme el otro hotel, pudieron haberme avisado con anticipación para hacer el traslado desde el aeropuerto al nuevo hotel. Poco cuidadosos

We booked Room Mate Mario for its specific location for special birthday. We also lashed out for a Suite for the 5 days. Only to be informed day before check in, Room Mate had moved us to another of there Properties on busy Grand Via - basic room, no offer of $ reduction or compensation, nothing. On final day we needed to depart early due to train timetable and requested slightly earlier Breakfast, which Room Mate couldn’t do, but they did offer to make us take away breakfast pack to be delivered to our Room before we left. Nothing delivered so pretty disappointing. Doorman was to organise Taxi, no Taxi so had to stand outside in pouring rain to hail Taxi while Doorman watched from dry foyer of Hotel; then Doorman did not assist with bags to Taxi because “ he did not want to get wet”. Pretty poor overall - find something else….

The staff was amazing. My wife and I have been to Madrid a few time. On this trip we thought we would step out of our comfort zone and try new places. We so happy we pick this spot. The staff and their ability to speak different languages made communication so easy. They were so helpful they really went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. From the warm welcoming to the little gifts in the room to giving advice on new places to eat. We will definitely stay here again and this might possibly be the only place we ever stay.

The placement is excellent, just outside of Opera metro station and at walking distance from Puerta del Sol together with a great many places to eat and drink. Super friendly staff and very clean rooms, maybe a little small but all in all adequate for the prices. Great experience!

The hotel is in a great location; however the room didn’t have much light and no reading light. The shower was very awkward and you had to enter the shower from the hallway because the door doesn’t allow entrance from the bathroom. The breakfast was terrible and mostly inedible.

Our stay was very comfortable. Jimmy at the reception was amazing and helped us with directions and restaurant suggestions. Convenient location, walking distance to Gran Via and close to metro. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was pretty decent. Thank you Room Mate Mario.

Pertinho do metrô Opera! Tem elevador para subir e descer com as malas nessa estação. Tem um mercado ao lado do hotel e isso facilita muito. Várias opções de restaurantes e lojinhas. Equipe incrível, cuidadosa e ótimo café da manhã. M Eu dei sorte de pegar o dia 6 de janeiro na cidade, que é comemorado Dia de Reis. Eles me receberam com chocolates dos Reis e no café da manhã do dia seguinte dia o Roscon de Reyes, um doce tradicional que eu AMEI. O café da manhã era super completo e gostoso. O quarto é grande e a limpeza é ótima! Gostaríamos de agradecer o incrível atendimento de todos, em especial o senhor José que foi incrível e super simpático! The staff was extremely helpful and kind. I loved the area as it was pretty close to the center of Madrid. The beds are comfy and the rooms are nice. The breakfast is awful in every way and there is no variety. Can hear a bit of the rooms next door.

Room Mate Mario is in an excellent location, just a short walk to attractions, shopping, restaurants, as well as transportation. The cab ride from the Puerta de Atocha train station took about fifteen minutes. It was raining on the day of the exit, and taxis were not readily available, so plan an earlier exit if the weather is bad. The hotel combines neighboring buildings and you’ll feel like you’re in an M. C. Escher drawing when first looking for your room. Getting to the first floor can be confusing. But you’ll get used to it. If you want to have a relaxing breakfast, go early. It can get hectic and the staff has a hard time keeping up with the volume. Plates, coffee cups, utensils and juice glasses are not always available at the same time. There is only one coffee machine, but there is one in your room if you want to get started early. Rooms vary in size. Our group booked three rooms. Street facing rooms have small balconies. Most rooms are small, but comfortable. I had a larger room with a view of an atrium. The sinks in our rooms were outside the restroom. Ironing boards are available on request. I would return to Room Mate Mario on a future visit to Madrid.

Lovely hotel, in a superb area, close to public transport. The room had everything we needed, including air conditioning and also a fridge. There was plenty of choice for breakfast with fresh fruit, juice and both continental and cooked breakfast. Would definitely be my first choice of where to stay for visiting Madrid.
