Holiday Inn Express Memphis Medical Center - Midtown by IHG

I'll start with the good...Alison at the front desk was GREAT. The G.M Brent was good too, and we didn't see any bedbugs in our beds. Breakfast is actually decent if you get there early...now the bad...our room had SEVERAL issues. The smoke detector was literally taped on with masking tape. There was a long hair in our bed and carpet was definitely in serious need of a vacuum. The shower wall had a large crack and the shower curtain had obvious stains. Every single hallway looked like in hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. Overall building cleanliness was pretty subpar...now the REAL BAD...our brand new truck along with 2 others were broken into by smashing the windows out, AT 7:30AM IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!!! Their "security" left sometime between 7:00 and 7:30 and then as soon as they were gone, boom...they robbed the vehicles, causing a ton of damage to them. I would stay as FAR away from this hotel as possible. Their "security" is useless and I wouldn't be surprised if they were in on the break ins letting them know which vehicles to hit. No way would I EVER stay in this hotel again. If I ever have to go to Memphis again, I'll be staying somewhere away from town in a nicer area. The whole city is just a crime ridden cesspool. Been to Memphis several times and every time I go, it's worse and worse. Even with security on site, you and your vehicles are NOT safe.

We don’t want/need room clean, but Did not get clean towels. Dis not even put out sign or ask staff not to clean. Had to request Fresh towels. And pool was not functioning for beginning of Summer.

Very upset. They broke into my vehicle along with 8 others with a security guard on premises. Between replacing broken window and stolen items I am out almost $2000.00 dollars. The manager and staff were very apologetic and said they have an issue with theft around the area. Was told they are trying to keep guest safe. I asked if they would help pay for damages and I got no reply.

Great hotel for the price! Close to Beale Street & other attractions. Room is updated with multiple charging outlets; comfortable bed. Breakfast was good & service at front desk was excellent. The pool was closed during our stay but we weren’t planning on using it anyway. Would recommend for a short stay.

I booked this hotel for the swimming pool. However it was closed. This is something that should be known to customers before booking. False advertising.. the manager was so nice he offered to pay for another hotel that had a pool. I would give 5 stars but it was hot asf and I didn’t get to swim.

The one good thing was the desk clerk Alison was great and the G.M. Brent is new and trying to get a handle on things. I wouldn't recommend staying I this area of Memphis if you can avoid it. It's a crime ridden cesspool.

The hotel and staff are just fine. The staff are actually very kind. However, my truck was broken into, and my window was shattered. Several cars in the lot were broken into as well.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our reservation due to the fact that the pool was not opened. Having a pool was a main factor in reserving this hotel as we had children on trip. No pool was NOT fault of hotel but lack of inspectors. Hotel staff was gracious enough to cancel with no fees/penalties. Would be willing to book again if ever in area.

I picked the hotel because of the pool, and was not notified until I checked in (Friday) that pool was not available because of painting to start on Monday. No preparations were being made throughout the weekend for work to start on Monday. Also, there were no snacks for purchase in the lobby, other than what appeared to be some old items tied in a bag in the cooler.

There were roaches in the room. We saw 1 in the window and other just over the TV. The people coming in and out were very seachy, this property is not kid friendly in my opinion.

The lady that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The room on the other hand was gross. Hair EVERYWHERE, bathroom floor was disgusting. Piss and hair behind toilet. Pillows were nice tho……. Would not stay there again especially for the price bs what what we got.was not worth that price……

There were blood stains all over the room and ants in the bed.

Checked into the hotel. Noticed a security car parked out front that a security guard comes at 7pm every night to keep watch. I got to my room and needed to use the restroom. Lifted the lid and the toilet was not cleaned. Hair and urine all over the seat. The shower’s shampoo rest was falling off and not sealed from the sealant as the rest was falling off. I later was getting ready for bed and I pulled the covers back and a couple long black hairs were loosely laying under the covers.

Air conditioner sounds like a plane taking off. Woke me up every cycle akl night. Breakfast was nit good. Scrambled eggs barely edible. Didn't try the gravy or biscuit.

Great experience but small cramped room and bathroom.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable but very small. So small in fact two people could not walk around at the room at the same time.

Staff was incredible. Very kind and thoughtful. Allowed for an early check in which was greatly needed due to extended travel. Changed our room to new one after we noticed the incredibly loud noise coming from the AC / Heating unit. Manager is as extremely nice and grabbed us orange juice and cleared our plates during the self serve continental breakfast. Thank you for a hospitable stay.

Hotel was a bit aged but overall it was a decent experience for the price. Breakfast was very good and staff were very friendly. Our fridge wasn't working though.

The room is clean, but there are only two charging ports and one of them doesn't work. That's terrible for a room n with sleeping for 4 people.

Avoid an adjoining rooms as you will hear their conversations.

The room was nice. The customer service provided by the check in associate and manager was terrible.

Ebony was very thorough with our check in. Explained what we needed to know. Helped with a late check out due to medical issues. I do advise the manager of her service plus the only issue with the room was the outlets were loose and couldn't get good connection to charge phones. Even the USB ports wouldn't hold cords.

Housekeeping ignored our room. Management resolved this issue quickly.

Keaundra was very friendly and helpful during the check in process. She made restaurant recommendations and had helpful advice for traveling around town. We enjoyed our stay!

The staff was incredible! The kindest people ever! This hotel was a bit run down and needs some repairs but it was fine for what we needed.

We checked in and they gave us our room key, but when my daughter went to the room and opened. there was our peoples stuff. This could of turned out bad very quickly. Did not feel comfortable with leaving my stuff in the room. I didn't know if that was going to happen to me.

Service was excellent. Zee was very helpful and she kept the food court very clean.

The staff were excellent. Helped us get into our room early because I needed to take a Zoom meeting. Maintenance immediately came to our room when I report a slow bath drain (hair happens...) and fixed it. I accidently left my yoga pants rolled up in a towel to help dry after washing, was scooped up by housekeeping (not her fault). Front desk took time to look for them, retrieved them, even washed them! Front desk gave two great recommendations - one for breakfast, one for cocktails. Staff person who managed the breakfast was so nice, her area clean and the breakfast buffet nicely laid out. Lobby and hotel was a welcome,quiet respite from a hectic basketball tournament. Parking easy and free, and secure with a security officer always there. Just an excellent stay and our go-to for Memphis from here on out.

Very convenient, right off the highway. Lots of restaurants close by as well as gas stations. The staff was very nice, always greeted us with a smile and made sure we didn’t need anything. I was really impressed—I wasn’t sure about the location because it’s by a lot of hospitals but it was a good place!

The area around the hotel didn't feel safe. I observed what appeared to be drug dealing at a gas mart in the area. The cars traveled too fast for walking and there were limited restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself felt safe and there were no issues with parking my car.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Beale Streets and the Liberty Bowl. It was a pleasant experience with a clean updated premises and a great staff. The free breakfasts were excellent, Zee, who manager the dining facility, was hospitable, provided tasty fresh food, and kept the dining facility immaculate. I strongly recommend this place!

Didn’t like that the person taking care of breakfast wasn’t very helpful. Had to ask her for hot water, for corn flakes, and for yogurt, and she brought it to us but didn’t replenish yogurt supply in kitchen, like she was paying for it

Breakfast on Sunday a disaster... ran out of food.

Everything was excellent. There's a coffee machine as you walk in which grind and makes coffee. Breakfast was also excellent with eggs potatoes bagels, bread, pancakes fruit and cereal. Staff is friendly and responsive. Room was very clean and plenty of hot water. The only issue we had was Internet access was intermittent so the staff will contact the provider. Great and convenient location 12 min to Graceland.

Very friendly and helpful staff, especially front desk. Room was comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was wonderful. We stayed in this hotel on our trip up and again on our return.

This is a very good Holiday Inn hotel we've stayed recently. The room is clean and well equipped though a bit too compact in sizd. We like the friendly staff. The breakfast was great with a large options to choose from and the lady cook Zee greeted every guest at the breakfast with southern warmth and hospitality, adding a sense of home away from home.
