Staff not available at any time , dirty rooms, change on your website that the swimming pool is no longer in use and the balcon needs renovations or a bit of painting please

It was ok. The hotel will not suit everyone. The webpage is misleading. No pool, no games room, no bar no dining room. No lounge no conservatory access. My room was fine, it had four beds. All very basic. No heating, it was chilly for april. An electric vector heater provided. It had everything I needed. Kettle, hot water, shower, nice view. I reckon it is also transit accomodation for asylum seekers and/or refugees. Which was fine for me. No noise, in fact I saw very few people. No staff at all. It is beautiful hotel, a little run down, in a lovely location, next to a park. I would stay again. The Scarborough town cryier lives next door, lovely man. I read the reviews before booking so I knew what others have said. Carpark

Booked because it had a pool, checked the opening times by phone the day before, then when we arrived it turns out the pool has been closed for two months. I don't like being lied to. Shower dangerously hot, could not be adjusted. Basin waste jams shut. There is no extractor in the bathroom. One towel each, not large enough to wrap around moderate sized person. No bath mat. General condition is poor, it appears parts of the building are derelict. Entrance has old mats over broken tiles. The floor plan has a lounge and a lift, but both are closed. The ambience is of a poorly managed hostel, residents hanging around the entrance appear to be under influences.

We have stayed here a couple of times before. We have always enjoyed it (yes, it's a big building that has seen better days and is very dated). What has always drawn us here however is the on-site swimming pool.. when we arrived after calling the number at reception we were unfortunately told that the pool was no longer in use. Our children were gutted as that's our main reason for choosing this hotel.. there are cheaper and better options available in the area and having that pool closed indefinitely means, unfortunately, we won't be coming back from now on.

The property was way too expensive for what you offer. The pool is shut down and mucky the decor is terrible and the conservatory and out door area is pretty much non existent. Its an amazing building but needs much work. Unfortunately i wont be returning at £170

We cant have a shower, there is only cold water. The Pool is out of Order since years. We booked, while we see the Poolpicture. The personal is very friendly.

It was easly accessable apart being on second floor and with walking difficult and there was no lift that was not working apart from that it was a pleasure to stay

Beds just about bearable. 20 minute walk to the beach but nothing near the hotel. The hotel used to have hydrotherapy facilities and a swimming pool, but now all is closed off. Would I stop here again.. NO.

Expedia are certainly having the wool over eyes when they advertise this hotel. It is not as advertised. There is no working pool, no games room, no bar / or place to dine. There was a crack in the bath which had been siliconed and holes in the duvet. Springs in beds squeeked and the place smelt bad in hallways - damp carpets. The disabled toilet wasn't cleaned the whole time we were there. The building was clearly quite something in its day but going to rack and ruin now. Defnitely will not be going back to this hotel. Expedia are a joke, using old photos on the site to advertise this Hotel. Stay away from the Green Gables, my son did not feel comfortable staying there.

The staff are amazing ,check in quick and without any problems , but that’s all the good points . All floors are dirty rooms are very badly maintained with dirty marks on walls ,mattresses are way too soft so soft that I didn’t get much sleep ,noise is a major issue very noisy with slamming doors ,guests talking walking in corridor’s can be herd . This hotel needs closing down and major investment to bring it up standard . The swimming pool was dirty full of bird poo and feathers . Full review on my YouTube channel

We booked a family room booked in saw the room dirty hand rail on 4th floor coming away the full hotel is filthy walked out trying to get a refund

The receptionist was lovely. Unfortunately the beds was stained massively, sheets all ripped. Holes in door, pubic hair in bath. Inside of kettle mouldy. Decor very dated but i can live with that as lomg as my bed was clean, unfortunately it wasnt didnt sleep a wink

Staff were very helpful, polite and were very efficient. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. The cleanliness of the place leaves alot to be desired! Could do with a health inspection to be honest.

It was discusting!! So dirty, the room was filthy. Ripped wallpaper, every plug socket and light switch was so dirty. The room smelt damp. Curtains and towels had stains all over them. The wimdows were discusting. Looked like they had never been cleaned and bird muck all over them. Complained but the man on reception didnt care at all. This property should not be allowed on the website. Its false adverisement as other than the picture of the building inside it looks nothing like the pictures. It needs to be comdemmed for health and safety reasons!!

I didn’t stay it was filthy and stuck I would not let my dog live in those conditions

Do not book this property.We walked away and found somewhere else to stay at extra cost because it was that bad.It is dirty, smells terrible, and is unsafe. It looks like they are using it too, put the boat people in and i feel really sorry for them having to stay there. It needs taking of all the booking sites.

Location was great . If the property had been clean then it would be passable. On entrance to this period property you were met with mess in the carparks and garden areas, Garden untidy not cut , rubbish and broken picnic bences. Lots of cobwebs inside and outside the property. It is a big grand property but not looked after needs alot of investment to clean it up and restore it. The basic things like decent Clean mattresses Wàs not even met they were highly stained and ripped in parts, The main bed base was some wood covered with two matresses. the supposed clean room had one of the bed with lots if sticky popcorn down the back of the mattress. The wall grill that kept falling off was covered in black dirt. Tea and coffee facilities had no milk, bathroom no towels. Had to ask for both. Locks on windows and bathroom door either broken or too stiff to move Lots of holes around the room and decor needed updating. Curtains were passable We traveled on our way got a call to say, no running hot water in our room and that we either could cancel which wasnt possibly as part way through the journey or get a max discount of 20% because no other rooms available. So we in a picke from the start. Could have let us know in advance. The issue with the hotel is the cleanliness, and maintenance no way two stars. Im shocked that they can let rooms with what I saw. A member of staff was around to take money and after that on the end of a phone,avail from midday. Very disappointed.

Bed are absolutely dirty, windows are dirty ad spider webs on all windows and dust is on evriting. I was scare to tough somting. Some rooms are really dirty and stinki. My kid's get sick after one night. I send you pictures of 2 mattresses where sleeping my kids on room 27...internet are free but don't working. If I don't get refund I will put this at court so people be careful where you kigs sleep and what you booked for family trip to Scarborough. Thank you for make me and my kids sick and apset for brake trip.

We were looking for a cheap, basic bed for the night and this delivered. It was clean, bed not particularly comfortable but certainly adequate for the price. Pretty good plumbing considering the age of the building, and the heating was good! A few snaggy things like a small hole in the wardrobe door and broken sharp towel rail.

Well, it’s not the Ritz, the staff are friendly and helpful and the room itself was clean, except the carpet. The decor is out of date and a bit sad looking, but the room was nice with balcony doors opening onto the balcony, which is shared with other rooms, but nice place to sit overlooking the park during the day. Ensuite was clean and newish fixtures. Towels and bed linen were fresh and clean. Worst part was nighttime activity with junkies smoking and doing dope on the balcony until wee hours of the morning, with all the stinking smoke blowing into our room. Tried shutting the doors, but was way too hot and stuffy and made it worse, so one of us was up and down all night to open and shut the doors every time a junkie was lighting a spliff outside our door where the chairs were on the balcony. No thought for anyone else around. The stomping and slamming of doors all night in hallway was annoying but not as bad as the awful smoke smell. Really the owners should warn offenders that drugs should not be allowed in hotel or on property. The park across the road would have been a better place for them all to enjoy their disgusting habit. The place could be lovely with time and money spent on d3ocr and updates, and security to deal with druggists.

Unclean rooms hallways, carpets stained and the smell that hits you when you walk in. Uncomfortable beds, wifi not working in thd bedrooms and not much power on the shower. Lot's of seagull noise and kid's running up and down the upper floor hallway at night keeping us awake. Felt like a migrant hotel. Booked out early due to all the issues, spend a bit extra and get yourself somewhere decent. Good points, friendly staff and clean sheets.

The hotel will have been lovely 40 years ago. Sadly it’s still the same decor Can’t fault cleanliness, but in need of overhaul. Beds must be the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. Even beds I used to make underground were more comfortable

Booked a family room here for one night to see a band at the Open Air Theatre, so didn’t need to be flash. However, the pictures made this place look quite reasonable, but in reality, the place is shabby and dated. The reception desk is pretty much unmanned with a Ring doorbell and a phone number for a call centre. The rooms are VERY basic, and the double bed so uncomfortable, that when my wife rolled over, the whole mattress moved. The room itself was shabby with stains on the ceiling, and when the person ibn the room above had a shower, we could hear every droplet of water landing in the shower tray!! From around 5.30am, the hotel comes alive with what appears to be a lot of migrant workers staying here, leaving for work, and while I have no problem with this, the amount of noise they created was just unnecessary. We booked cheap, but there was nothing cheerful about the place, and expensive for what you get, I’m just glad I paid for it with my OneKeyCash and not actual money, and will put this down to a bad experience, but I will not be back.

We stayed for 2 nights August 25, the hotel is very run down, all the downstairs areas on the photo's are crudely locked off or full of junk. There was a terrible smell in the corridor where our room was, the room was basic which was ok but it was the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept on with a brick for a pillow. The decor was unattractive and i did not consider than any effort (other than the basics) was made towards cleanliness or repair.

Overall stay was ok just was bit outdated and very noisy could hear people talking and running across the ceiling got woken up by people shouting

Reception was not covered 24 hours a day, but I was given a contact number to ring if there were any problems. The area around the hotel was tidy and quiet, and I felt safe. No food or bar available, but I was aware when I booked, and there were lots of options 5 minutes walk away. The beach was a 20 minute walk away, and town centre about 15 minutes.

Arrived no staff... Didnt asnwer 2 phone numbers until half hour later. No facilities Place outdated and not run correctly. Unsafe main doors open to access overnight Police all around the hotel at silly times. Hotel full of refugees arguing and load until daft oclock. Wouldnt pay the price and stay again

Reception was welcoming and friendly Facilities were as described and ideal.

The service was so kind every time, both during chek im and durimg check out. Just we didn't have trowels in the room butvit was sorted out ringing reception eventhough being late in the naight.

Pool dirty and cold. Location around 15 mins from main area which we didnt mind. I would definitely pay that little bit extra next time for another hotel rather then do it cheap as possible. Great stay. The staff is amazing. Mohammed were great welcoming us. There seems to be a lot of effort is being put to help. The room is very extremely spacious and the beds were comfortable.

Upon arrival no staff was to be seen, but was polite and showed us to our rooms. A few hazards on entry grates raised up on tile flooring at entry ( trip hazard) lift doesnt work. We was there two nights no fresh towels or bedding. Had to buy our own toilet roll. Cleaness needs a good clean over, walls had stains, carpets need a good clean. Overall was warm, comfy. Its a hotel that would have alot of potential or would benefit a good make over. Pictures arent a true image of the hotel people are expecting on arrival. Its a shame its been left to be run down.

We have been here many times over the last 20yr . I belive you get what you pay for. The staff are nice but you need to ring for sevice as desk is not manned. The rooms are dated but clean beds are comfy. We got a double double there qas plenty of room maybe a few chairs would have been nice. Last time we went was a few yr ago and we had the use of the pool this is no longer available. Parking is limited and some times not the best if customers deside to block you in but it is free. They have never done food in a long time so you need to either bring it in or order. All the food brochures have been taken away so you will need to order and have delivered. We come back yr after yr so hoping to see the place more restored to it former glory over the next few yr.

Cheap and cheerful ensuite twin room. Free parking, about 20 minute walk to seafront. Good for staying overnight for concert as we did.

Was nice I stayed with family for two nights but so much loud noises floor is cranking ,building needs TLC def other wise it’s good there a park behind if u have small children then would love it . parking is a bit tight but you can park off roads too over all it was ok

The photos that we saw on Expedia were nothing like the place at all. There was NO bar,games room or terrace to sit on. The conservatory was covered in dead flies and wasps/bees. Everything in the games room was broken. Swimming pool was closed off. Couldnt sit out side it was all a car patk. Stains on towels and carpets frayed . Never again i dont know how its rated 3.3 . Also there are people that live there but we werent told. Staff were non existant had to phone them to come to reception to book in . Avoid at all costs

Friendly member of staff. Clean room, got what we expected for the money and secure free parking is always a plus. We would stay again. Lack of facilities is a drawback as it is a large property that could easily accommodate dining and drinking.

It needs a good refurbishment carpets worn and patched up in our room double bed was so uncomfortable could feel the springs single bed ok. Alright for the price but would definatly not stay again photo's of hotel on site must have been year's old think it needs updating the was nowhere to get anything to eat if you wanted to

Awful, did not stay even though room was paid for. The hotel outside was very tired and rundown. Inside was cold tired and smelt. The dining room had paper table clothes with "seasons greetings" on them and wooden cutlery. After seeing all this I did not want to even look at bedroom. I informed the man on the reception desk that I would not be staying and why, he just smiled !!! Another family were turning and leaving at the same time we arrived because of the same reason.
