Staff is the very best in the Jacó region. Friendly and efficient. The chef for the morning breakfast is superb. She gets every order just right and serves with a pleasant smile. The cleaning staff are highly professional, leaving the floors spotless and replacing towels often.

As other reviews mentioned, the hotel looks completely different than advertised online. Tons of insects, sheets dirty with stains, walls with blood stains from mosquitos being killed.

It’s always been a pleasure to stay here. Staff is warm and friendly. The property is well maintained, rooms are clean and well stocked. Raccoons are slight inconvenience sometimes lol but that’s nature for you. Anyway, will keep coming back for many more years! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We got a family suite with access to the pool through a balcony. Specious and good for 5 people. The room was very clean. there is a kitchenet at the balcony area, which was very unclean: garbage was left on the counter, the kitchenware was dusty, and there was a dead bug lying legs up.. breakfast was nice. We came during the holiday season so the hotel may have been busier than usual (?), but we did not get hot water in both nights we stayed. On the second night we asked about hot water, and they said they'd take care of it, and we got hot water after about 2 hours (shrug). The thing that left us feeling most uncomfortable was the ordering takeaway food experience. We were specifically told by the guy that checked us in, that if we want to order takeaway food from one of the businesses around, it would only cost us an extra $6 on top of the regular price. We ordered a pizza that cost $20 online, and thought we will pay about $26 for ordering in. At checkout the young lady at the front desk asked for $68 for the pizza... it was going to be the most expensive pizza we had in our entire lives. We don't usually argue for pricing, but this time we just felt conned, and after a short exchange we ended up paying $26. she also tried to charge twice for things already paid for.. The hotel is located far from the Jaco beaches, but there is a very fun 10 waterfall hike experience that you can get online (you can't go there by yourself, it's a private area)

Great staff, very friendly and accommodating! The rooms smelled a little musty and needed updating. The property of just rooms and the pool surrounded by trees so don’t expect much of a view. Beds were fine and they bring you softer or harder mattresses depending on your preference. By the reviews and pictures, I was expecting a much nicer place but it was comfortable for the night. Carla was great, she made a great margarita for me even though they didn’t have them on the menu. It’s basically Imperial beer and sub par wine.

We received a very warm welcome when we checked in to Pumilio Mountain and Ocean Resort. Lots of perks due to my Expedia account status. The room was big, beautiful, super comfortable. There was a lovely pool and lounge area, and what appeared to be a popular and luxurious spa. The room rates in early November are very reasonable. This was an excellent choice for the Jaco area and I’d gladly stay here again

The place is fine but the VIP rooms are not great, closer to the street and next to a karaoke club that did group singing from 7pm to midnight on a Sunday! Wow, what a nightmare. Not exactly the hotels fault but it was bad.

The pool was fantastic. Water pressure in the shower was great. The rooms could use updated paint and decor. Our slider door to the patio/deck didn’t slide open/closed easily and the lock didn't work well. The room locks/keys should also be updated - did not feel super secure. Mattresses were hard. Walls are paper-thin - we could clearly hear everything our neighbors were talking about. It was fine for our one-night stay, but I wouldn’t stay longer than that.

We loved our stay at Pumillo Mountain and Beach Resort. We couldn't see the beach from the resort but we really enjoyed the forest- like setting. The rooms were comfortable with a great view of the pool and the foliage. The pool was refreshing, the massages were reasonably priced and incredibly relaxing ( and the massages are done in a beautiful pagoda like structure surrounded by foliage). The dinner and breakfast were very good, as was the service. We will definitely be back!!

Such a retreat! We had a room with a private jacuzzi, it was great to relax after a long day of travelling. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with nice, comfortable beds. The breakfast was delicious. The location is on a quiet street. We would highly recommend this hotel!

Set on a dry riverbed with beautiful, beautiful grounds. Our room, which overlooked the pool, was spacious and comfortable with an outdoor kitchen and a lovely shower. It’s five or ten minutes from the seedy town of Jaco. I’m so glad we stayed here and not in town. You can feel comfortable walking around and there’s one restaurant (Roberto’s) within walking distance.

We picked the hotel away from downtown jaco to avoid the crowded scene. We want some quiet time and don’t mind driving 10-15 into town or the beach. Having a rental car, this hotel is perfect for us. It is a boutique hotel so set your expectations right, you will have a great time. We have room 11 which walks out to the public pool. Love the convenience but less privacy. Nice and big fridge. Room is big and comfortable bed. Would like to have fans in bathroom. No problem with noise. Not big problem with mosquitoes but did got one inside the room one night and suffered from it. Staffs were great and like everyone we met in CR, super friendly and helpful. Internet can be spotty especially night time is slow and sometimes off for a short period. But they try to fix it fairly quick. Breakfast is good for this type of hotel. Cook at the cooking station made some really good pancakes. Fruits and mango drinks are awesome. Breakfast was pretty much the same everyday. Perhaps a few local food rotating every day would be nice, other than just rice and bean and tamales. But I also understand the limitations of small hotel. No dinner or lunch but you can order delivery from them. Take an hour for the food to arrive. More pricey than getting take out yourself but you can have convenience. Location is great since we were able to travel to quepos, Manuel Antonio, san jose and monteverde easily. Google map a bit off for hotel location as in you past the hotel on the map.

Good stay, very comfortable mattress. The jacuzzi didn't fill all of the way, even after asking for a service visit (minor inconvenience). Felt a little like the main elements of the suite were nice, but the edges were a little ruff, like there was a weird piece of plastic hanging from the roof of the patio, the jacuzzi doesn't fill all the way, and the patio table was very lop sided, but it looked beautiful and was very comfortable to sleep in.

Stay was lovely however difficulty with leaving early in morning. Ordered early breakfast didn’t arrive and trying to access the electric gates as no one appeared to be on site we could not open them till staff arrived 20 mins later with a remote. It is lovely place to stay but would strongly recommend gate issue be resolved for safety reasons

Great everything. This place really stands out among the many hotels in Jaco . The staff , Ronald and Kimberly were extraordinary , the swimming pool as good as it gets !! Breakfast rocked !! Oh , the location is near some amazing waterfalls , which you can do on your own if you walk upstream in the nearby river .

Wow, Cindy and her staff provided excellent customer service. They suggested and arranged for a boat trip to Tortuga Isle on the Costa Cat which was great. They offered and provided a full buffet breakfast at 6:30am two mornings so we could eat prior to heading out on tours for the day. One morning we were the only customers they served. One day we had a problem with our safe, and they promptly took care of it. Location is near the Aerial Tram, slightly inland from Jaco, thus avoiding the crowds and traffic. Highly recommend Pumilio Hotel.

My girlfriend and I love Pumilio! Conveniently close to San José, close to Jacó and other nice beaches nearby yet the hotel is quiet, tucked in the hills surrounded by nature. Price is accessible, breakfast buffet delicious, rooms are very comfy and clean as well as the pool and the rest of the property and the staff is friendly and attentive. 5/5!

The location was very nice! Quiet and relaxing yet only a short 4-5 minute drive from the beach, bars, restaurants, tours etc. the staff was super friendly and making sure to take care of whatever we needed. DJ the manager was amazing!!! Always on top of everything and made sure we never needed anything. The hotel offered laundry service which was very nice. Will definitely be booking there again and highly recommend it!

Hotel Pumillio mountain and ocean hotel is located just outside of main Jaco. Fairly easy drive to it's location. Hotel has an automatic gate for security with its own private parking area. Upon arriving you're greeted with the sounds of nature and smiles from the staff. TEEJAY and his staff are wonderful and accommodating. The massage manager Warner not only helpful in booking massages he was very helpful with local cuisine suggestions. The cafe on site is nothing short of incredible with food made from scratch. Fresh ingredients and positive attitudes from Jonathan the chef creating an amazing experience. Not only did they make my stay at the hotel an outstanding experience Teejay and his team always had our best interest in mind. Upon arriving they gathered some information on our plans and noticed an oddity in our tour reservation. Teejay went above and beyond to confirm I wasn't being taken advantage of or being asked to meet somewhere not safe. In conclusion the team made it an unforgettable experience with hopes of returning sooner rather than later

Fresh ingredients and positive attitudes from Jonathan the chef creating an amazing experience. Not only did they make my stay at the hotel an outstanding experience Teejay and his team always had our best interest in mind. Upon arriving they gathered some information on our plans and noticed an oddity in our tour reservation. Teejay went above and beyond to confirm I wasn't being taken advantage of or being asked to meet somewhere not safe. In conclusion the team made it an unforgettable experience with hopes of returning sooner rather than later

Another great getaway at Hotel Pumilio. The staff is always welcoming and accommodating. We love that the location is away from the crowds but still minutes from Jaco beach or Herradura. This was our 2nd stay this year and 6th stay overall. Can’t wait to visit again!

Nice smaller hotel. Off the main road enough to be quiet. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Clean room, ice cold AC (adjustable). About 10 minutes outside town so you have have to have a car to go anywhere.

Safe. Quiet. Amazing staff. Centrally located to various activities and locations (easy drive to Uvita, Dominical, Manuel Antonio, etc). Checkout the amazing sunset while getting dinner/drinks at Villa Caletas, which is located 10 minutes away :)

The location was very nice! Quiet and relaxing yet only a short 4-5 minute drive from the beach, bars, restaurants, tours etc. the staff was super friendly and making sure to take care of whatever we needed. DJ the manager was amazing!!! Always on top of everything and made sure we never needed anything. The hotel offered laundry service which was very nice. Will definitely be booking there again and highly recommend it!

Set on a dry riverbed with beautiful, beautiful grounds. Our room, which overlooked the pool, was spacious and comfortable with an outdoor kitchen and a lovely shower. It’s five or ten minutes from the seedy town of Jaco. I’m so glad we stayed here and not in town. You can feel comfortable walking around and there’s one restaurant (Roberto’s) within walking distance.

The facility is beautiful and our room had a patio right in front of the pool and spa. Breakfast was delicious and the staff is amazing and kind. Only negative thing is there isnt anything in walking distance regarding shopping or food.

Staff is the very best in the Jacó region. Friendly and efficient. The chef for the morning breakfast is superb. She gets every order just right and serves with a pleasant smile. The cleaning staff are highly professional, leaving the floors spotless and replacing towels often.

Incredible stay. The staff were kind and amazing, Alfredo from the front desk was so friendly! At breakfast time, they made the best omlettes, waffles or pancakes on the spot for you! The view was absolutely stunning, the swimming pool was great. Zero complaints, fantastic stay. I would recommend this to any tourist! Thank you Hotel Pumilio and staff for making this trip special for me.

Excellent service. Rooms are clean. Beds were uncomfortable. Hotel does have offer to replace the mattress but it was so late we didn’t want bother them. Hotel will immerse you in the Costa Rica vibe. Food at the bar was okay but expensive.

Hotel Pumilio was absolutely fantastic! The staff was so friendly and helpful and went beyond expectations. The pool area was pristine and the rooms were very spacious. The shower was AMAZING!!! I would stay here again just for it. Breakfast was included in our price and it was good. Quite a few things to choose from and very filling.

Our food order wasn’t the best and very pricey but the breakfast was good and it was quiet. The hot tub took forever to fill and was never really that warm. Bed was super comfortable and the AC/fan worked great. Staff was froendly

The property itself is good if you are looking to relax, however it’s mentioned to have a restaurant (which it doesn’t) only breakfast is served, and also there is no bar, hence there is no option to get drinks or cocktails while at the pool. Other than that the place is cozy but take into account that you would need to drive out (5-10min) to get food, drinks or activities to do.

El lugar es alejado de Jacó pero bello, muy tranquilo y lleno de naturaleza El personal es amable y servicial El desayuno buenísimo Lo malo; almuerzo/ cenas tienen una cocina pequeña y una persona qur atiende y cocina. La comida no es buena y es muy caro. La hora de check in es las 3 y el check out lo ponen a las 11 am ( cuando en todo lugar es 12md) entonces no estas las 24 horas en la propiedad

We stayed for two nights to briefly explore the area and then head to the airport. The hotel is not new but all the amenities were exactly what we needed. A firm but comfortable bed, a good size bathroom with great soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, a fridge and coffee maker. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff very helpful. Note that your experience will depend a bit on other guests at the property. Our room was right at the pool, the windows are only single pane, so kids shouting and screaming in the pool carries straight into the room.
