Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

Great rooms, great staff, fantastic amenities. Be prepared to walk, large property. Beach 90% sandy 10% rocky, but amazing snorkeling. Bring/get your own gear and can snorkel whenever you want.

Great pools, great beach, great snorkeling, Buffets were OK, but not as many choices as in the past. Seemed o be adjusted for a decrease in guests. The ala-carts were amazing though.

Great service and nice hotel , would stay again. Only feedback would to have more umbrellas for shade. So many people were fighting for shades chairs it became a bit chaotic and we saw a few fights. A minor point for our overall visit, but something this hotel should bring. UMBRELLAS!

We had an amazing experience at this resort. I had spent many family vacations at the Barcelo in Punta Cana and this blew it out of the water. We came with kids ages 5 and 7 and our moms, and were lucky to arrive at check in to an upgrade to premium which meant we were at the first building with a pool and ocean view right in front of the kids club and water park (of many water parks at the resort). There is so much to do here, we stayed 5 days and didnt scratch the surface. Shopping, shows and kids entertainment, nightclub, casino, bowling alley, haunted mansion, escape room, you will never be bored. They have double decker buses shuttling between the 6 interconnected resorts. The food was excellent, but the alcohol was not great. I think it was both watered down and a lack of knowing how to make certain classic cocktails, like I asked for an old fashioned and it tasted like mint, I asked for a martini and they used half a bottle of olive juice. But they do have a liquor store with premium brands if you prefer. The kids shows were a blast, and it was nice have an air conditioned theater. We sprung for the romantic dinner on the beach and it was so sweet. We got the 4 course surf and turf, every other course but the main was amazing but the steak and lobster were dry and clearly cooked way before we sat. But it didn’t really take away from the lovely night. I am definitely coming back and brining friends and family.

Wow—what a massive resort, yet they somehow keep the service feeling personal. We had an amazing time with our kids and parents (ages 11 to 80), and it truly worked for all of us. The food and service at the Palace were excellent, and the entertainment was top-notch. We all had a blast—the kids especially loved the jet skis, and the FlowRider was a huge hit!

Beach is nice with some soft white sand. But water shoe is a must because some areas are rocky. We were able to swim with a lot of fishes and sea turtles. Dining option not bad. I like both the Japanese and French restaurants. Buffet lacks variety. Taste just average. But fruits are always sweet and fresh. Swimming pool is huge. But it lacks maintenance. Some tiles went missing. And my son got a cut from the pool!

We had a great time at the barcelo, lots of things to do for the kids as well as adults. The only thing I would point it out is The hotel staff to do something about the pool chairs. So many chairs had towels on them but no one occupying those chairs. which made us head to the beach instead of staying by the pool.

Service was exceptional, multiple buffets, all amazing. So many al a carte options and all delicious. Multiple pools, spectacular spa, mall…so much to do for everyone

2nd time at this property. Very nice. Food was good and plentiful. Big beach that is spread out. No crowded chairs on top of each other. Pool areas could use more shade. No regrets. Got a free bump to Premium🙏

Beautiful property with plenty of space to roam. The beaches were very nice and the staff did a great job of keeping them cleaned and organized. The rooms were also large and fairly modern. We stayed here during peak spring break so our experience was likely different than other times. There were not nearly enough chairs at the pool or beach for the amount of people that stay at the hotel. The resorts says that you cannot reserve chairs, but EVERY single chair is reserved by 6:00am. We tried reserving chairs early one morning and all of our towels (that you need to return or pay $20/towel) were taken by the staff or stolen. The servers in the restaurant were excellent. The servers that came around pool side were also excellent. The bars and bartenders were unfortunately why I would rate this property a 3 star. Several times the bartenders would roll their eyes if you ordered multiple drinks that were not all the same (even when tipping for every drink). The bartenders were overwhelmed, but that was because they were never adequately staffed. It felt like this was a way for the hotel to not serve as many drinks during this peak season. Another person in our group mentioned that when they have come to this property in other months, the bartenders used actual fruit in their drinks, but during peak season every drink was made with their fountain beverage dispenser.

We had a great stay. Room was always clean and towels restocked. Rooms were pretty muggy and humid even with a.c on. Sheets were pretty much wet. Also we noticed after a couple of days we would have to call to get them to restock our fridges with water. Food was great! Staff were amazing and overall it's a beautiful resort.

Our room was immaculate. The staff was always friendly and helpful; in other words - outstanding. Barcelo Maya Palace is our home away from home. We have been to many all-inclusives. None compare to the Barcelo Maya complex with their amazing every day attention to detail that the Barcelo family has developed. We will be back in the spring which will be our 19th stay at this complex starting in the year 2000.

Rooms, hallways, pool area always clean. Staff very attentive and friendly. Coffe makers in room didnt work properly, but other than that, it was great. Great stay experience!

Our family stayed seven days at the Mia Palace.We had a wonderful time. Everything was clean, well stocked, and the pools were great for the kids.

The property is in horrible condition . The pool tiles are literally falling off and you step on them . Our first day there was human feces In the pool . Never mind bandaids and food floating in the pool daily . They had the same food every single day . Our toilet and tv were both broken in our room . The rooms are so outdated and one night had mold on the sheets and had to call to get it changed . They do not have enough staff and almost impossible to get any type of service . I would not recommend this resort to my worst enemy.

Generally all good but the rooms are damp smelling because of humidity, bed sheets, pillows, duvets all they need to solve this humidity issue in the room, some points in the room have sargassum.

Room was great, pools were clean and wonderful, staff was incredible. This was our 6th time visiting and the second time with our children! So many things to do without even leaving the resort!!

The staff was friendly some didn't speak English. The property was clean and the pool area was great. You could exchange peso at the front desk to smaller denominations which was nice. One thing if you use face cloths bring your own very hard to get.

The hotel was great. The lobby area could use some furniture upgrade, but other than that the facilities were very well kept, extremely clean and beautiful. The pools are amazing, big, clean and never feel crowded. The kids water park may be in need of new slides but the ones that are there still work really well and my kids had an amazing time. The water park is super fun and varied for kids 3-12 I would say. We enjoyed the restaurants, the buffet, the amazing views of the ocean and the pools so much. The food in general was very good for an all inclusive. My oldest kid and my husband did the Go karts twice and they loved it. Also visited the bowling alley and arcades at the Maya Mall. The beach at the Maya Palace is rocky but just a couple of hotels down it is much better and we could enjoy it there. Very calm and beautiful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, great bathroom too. We did pay for Premium level Junior Suite Oceanfront. We got a great room location as well, facing the pools and the ocean. In general our experience was really positive and we are already planning to come back.

We stayed at the Palace resort and were very disappointed. I booked a Pool Premium Room, but my reservation was switched to a Junior Suite, and despite many attempts, nothing was done. As a premium member, I expected at least a decent room, but ours was outdated and poorly maintained. One sink was broken, the other drained slowly, and the shower pressure was so weak I never felt clean. The room smelled of mold, the trash was full on arrival, and the twin mattresses were completely worn out. The bathroom door had no lock and had grooves that allowed visibility inside, making it uncomfortable when sharing with kids. Housekeeping staff were great, but they couldn’t fix the larger issues. The buffet offered the same food daily, with fresh fruit being the only highlight. À la carte restaurants had strict dress codes not practical for a Caribbean vacation, and the “Brazilian” restaurant was far from authentic. Pools were the best part of the resort, but the beach was full of seaweed (the Barceló mall beach was much clearer). Evenings were boring, with the pool closing at 8 and only a theater dance show as entertainment — not engaging, especially for kids. Staff were kind and helpful, but overall, this resort is outdated, poorly maintained, and offers little for families. As a premium member, I saw no extra benefits. Would I return? Sadly, no.

I travelled as a single and got Palace Premium pool view suite. I got there before check in and it was raining. I had no where to go and was travel tired. Other than that the trip was great. No problems booking a la carte for a single. Staff English is hit and miss. Great booze at the adults only pool… I rented a cabana to stay in the shade… worth the $23 imho. Bed was great, room was cool and comfy. The pool is starting to show its age but it’s still good overall.

Check in and check out process is extremely slow(must wait over 30 minutes). Must stay more than 10 days if yo want to book Hibbachi restaurant. Room's furnitures are old. We've changed our room twice because of some issues with toilet bowl, broken furnitures and etc.

Overall we had a great time. However the rooms definitely need dome work. The deterioration us getting more noticeable. Im tsking in specific of the rrom I had # 8779. The lamp shades are rusted, the night stands stained the lightsbon the hallway and bathroom didn't work some werdomehow u

We were at this resort for our honeymoon 15 years ago. This time around we came with low expectations. The service, food, main pool area and specifically the kids pool exceeded our expectations. Where the resort lacks is night entertainment. The shows start at 930 pm and just don’t live up to the expectations. I think they can do better. Also the MJ show. The backup dancers did a better job than the Michael himself. It was unfortunate. The best, ABSOLUTE BEST SHOW was the IL DIVO!!!!!! Absolutely breathtaking. So incredibly talented. Need more talent like that. I LOVED them. Their voices. I didn’t want the show to end. We had our breakfast and lunch at the Hacienda. My favorite. Exceptional quality food. Veggies and fresh grilled fish and chicken. Absolutely our favorite. Those cooks are incredible. We enjoyed every meal there. A special shoutout and a huge THANK YOU for EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE goes to MAURICIO GOMEZ and BALSARIO at Mirador. Also RUBEN at RODIZIO. These individuals are pure perfection. And what you would expect an exceptional customer service to be. So thank you for taking care of our family. The resort is very clean. The rooms are clean. Although, one thing they didn’t have was face towels. So strange - but out of 5 days - I was only able to get face towels once. Overall, we were very happy with the quality. Everyone there works hard. We always tip for great service. Wish others would do same. We had an amazing time!!!! Excited to go back again!!

We have been in hotel zone in Cancun several times, but came to Barcelo Maya Palace first time. The check-in was ok, but there was no induction to the resort, we had a hard time to go around the hotel without knowing where the restaurants were. Check-out was horrible. It should be a 5 minute max process, but we had to wait for 30 minutes in the line.

Second time going back to Cancun and this resort was ok. Check in was horrible, took us 2.5 hours to get to the check in desk. GM in charge Iris Baez didn’t seem to care having guests waiting on line for hours. They gave us an “upgrade” moving us far away from restaurants, same room size and condition like we originally booked. Stuff didn’t seem to care much, drinks will take a while and some don’t even acknowledge you. Overall experience was ok but I will definitely not go back to this resort.

The resort was immaculately maintained, and we were especially impressed by the hardworking housekeeping and maintenance teams—even in the extreme heat! Their friendliness, kindness, and dedication truly stood out. Always had a hello! That said, the guest services experience could be improved. On several occasions, we entered an empty office and weren’t acknowledged until we initiated conversation. Staff seemed disengaged, and the directions we received were unclear printouts, giving no direction on where to go and were therefore unhelpful. Navigating the property was a challenge. Maps lacked restaurant names and “You are here” markers, making it difficult to find our way—even to sister resorts, where we had to use GPS to locate dining spots. It is a beautiful resort and we enjoyed our stay. These suggestions would simply help reduce stress and make it easier for guests to enjoy all the property has to offer. Clearer signage, labeled maps (on-site and printable), and more detailed info on the website—like restaurant locations, resort-specific amenities, and transportation details—would make a big difference for guests spending way too much time trying to find things.

The staff was absolutely amazing. I love that we had the premium experience so we had our own premium lounge to check in and really good service by everyone. Other than an extra really small bottle of sparkling champagne in the room, though there weren’t really many perks of this option. We enjoyed the oceanfront bedroom. It was super spacious bathroom and shower. We’re a good size. The pools are awesome. The staff was awesome. Lots of dining options. No complaints I would travel here again.

We had a wonderful week at the Barceló Maya Palace. The resort is huge and there are great amenities such as snokeling, paddleboarding, tennis, padel, and even pickleball! The à la carte restaurants at the Palace are very good. La Brasserie French is one of our favourites. The food is solid and the service we received from Francesco Arcos was excellent. Caribe, the seafood restaurant, serves up an excellent lobster. Rodizio is a fun time, especially if you get the skewers. It was fun seeing Porforio tending the bar at this restaurant. I met him at El Cielo a few years ago and he always makes great drinks! Kyoto Japanese is great as well! The chefs always do a great show and make great food. The servers are always friendly and accommodating! We have been to the Barceló Maya Grand Resort many times and our favourite part is always the El Cielo bar. Jorge Ruiz, Ismael Chan, Margaito Alvares, Herlinda Lopez and Angelica Acosta were such fun and excellent bartenders and servers! I have seen them so many times before that it was like coming back to see old friends. At the Premium Lounge, Neo Menendez was very kind and patient in finding a room to our satisfaction. When we checked in they only had a room with 2 double beds ready for us, but he went out of his way to find us a king bed room. Thank you! And, of course, Moises Campis, the Chief Concerierge, provides amazing service and always goes out of his way to make our stay perfect! He is a credit to the resort!

Well kept. Very good overall. However, the front desk check in is not efficient. Take way too long. Similar experience in June stay. For example, the clearing crew should update completion on a computer, so front desk staff does not have to call. These inefficiencies are due to lack of good management and effective software.

Check-in took an hour, only three people working up front. But the facility was amazing. Food and buffets were ok. Regarding The service everyone was nice and welcoming. The beach had some seaweed but the last day was clean. They are doing their best to keep the resort clean and safe. Already planning for my next visit. I do recommend to family and friends.

Great family resort with lots to see and do spent 10 days here and never ran out of stuff to do. With playa del carmen and tulum close by endless opportunities to explore the area.

This property is great. Has wonderful restaurants and buffets. Love the beach and sea life able to see while snorkeling. Everyone is very helpful.

Barcelo Maya is a huge resort and I think it would be great for family. The beach is very nice. You can see lots of fish from the beach by the Hotel Palace, and also enjoy very sandy/smooth beach by hotel Beach. I visited five specialty restaurants for staying for five nights. I enjoyed all of them, but Caribeno - seafood restaurant was the best. Brasserie - the French restaurant was slow to bring out food and to be seated, but their food was excellent as well. If you visit Rodizio, Brazilian stakehouse, choose the skewer option. They will bring out like 7 different meat for you. La Fuente Spenish restaurant and Marenostrum, seafood restaurant was good as well, but I liked the three from Palace more. I was there during the week, and it seemed that they didn't open Kyoto or Tokyo. Room was kept clean and mini bars stocked every day. We had two different rooms, and one room with 4 people was humid, even with A/C and the ceiling fan on. (not hot; it was cool but humid - the floor was a little slippery time to time.) Almost all the staff you see were very nice and courteous. We all enjoyed the stay very much, and will probably come back.

I have stayed at this hotel for their great service. The staff is amazing! The resort is extremely clean. The view is beautiful! I highly recommend this resort with accessibility to the rest of the hotels. In my opinion one of the best experiences when I go to Maya Riviera. The best part for me is I could actually relax here.

Great resort. Lots of things to do and see. Abundant wildlife, turtles, deer, iguanas, coati and agouti. Food was excellent! We loved the seafood restaurant the best.

The location of our room was too far from pools, beach, restaurants.

We been in Quintana Roo 3 times. Barcelo Maya Palace was the best. The beach was awesome, food - amazing, property absolutely beautiful and you have excess for 4 other resorts, restaurants, buffets and pools.Also bus transportation available there! for family vacation this place is awesome

Beach was very nice. Food was very average and drinks watered down.

Good property with good overall amenities. The only drawback was the lack of poolside food during lunchtime which most resorts have. Also food was not allowed outside the buffet area.

Expedia Gold member. We were told there was no availability on room upgrades even though property was at 25 percent occupancy. Told us to check back next day and said same thing Didn’t receive any privilege benefits like in past. Shuttle was absolutely horrible and buffets were not restocked as well. Grounds are beautiful and a la carte restaurant were delicious. Bar tenders were great. Pool entertainment staff was always there to have activities throughout day

The beach is amazing. Water is calm. A lot of fishes and turtles you can see if you are snorkeling. The beach is about a mile long. A lot of people mention poor food. It is not very elaborate in buffet and pretty repetitive, but still more variable than I cook at home:)) restaurants are good too. I am pretty sure it is possible to find hotels with better food and alcohol, but I am pretty sure you have to pay a different price. For the price we payed the place is amazing.

The property at Barcelo is beautiful with a traditional Mexican vibe and well maintained landscape! Be prepared to walk though because the place is huge but there is a shuttle bus to take you around. The hotel and rooms are very clean and staff is helpful with any needs. The beach was beautiful and drinks were good all around. Bartenders were attentive and most were friendly. Food at the buffets could use some help. Nothing at the buffets was very flavorful. Just a bit of pepper or salt to some food would make a big difference! The assortment of food at the buffets was good though. Reservations for other restaurants is a must! They book fast so I advise doing this shortly after arrival. Food at the restaurants is much better and the waiters and waitresses are very good and friendly! A major con is the check in and check out process and anything else at the front desk. There are usually only two people working that do everything. If you have a problem with your room etc you have to wait in the same line as everyone and it can be time consuming! For a hotel of that size there should be at least 4 people available to help with guess needs. Overall our family (2 adults, 2 teens) had a wonderful stay and would recommend this place!

We really enjoyed our stay at Barceló palace and the resort is beautiful and our room was amazing. The food at the al a carts good but I found the buffet extremely repetitive with little variety. I would say my biggest complaint at this resort was the quality of the drinks. We were premium which I would probably do again because if it including room service and the better room location but I was sorely disappointed in the drinks. We had only one bar tender that did a good job. All the rest I had to fight with to get top shelf liquor which was supposed to be automatic with premium. I even went the premium lounge and asked what I was doing wrong that causing the bar staff to make drinks with cheap house liquors. They made a few calls and said please ask for the bar manager if they don’t make your drink with top shelf liquor. I’m sorry I’m not going to be the guy to ask for a supervisor at a bar. Try he bar tenders can clearly see who’s premium based on the wrist band and hotel staff should train them as such. The resort is impeccably maintained and our room staff was amazing. I think we would return but if we didn’t it would definitely be because of the drinks. Everything was loaded with sugar and just not very tasty (with the exception of the Tajín margaritas). We visited the DR the year before and I found the food there to be a littler better and the drinks were profoundly better. The snorkeling at the resort is absolutely amazing and most everyone we interacted amazing!

Bring a yeti or any travel cup to get drinks, the plastic cups from the bar are small and service can take a while. Be ready to fight for pool beds, there are signs for non reserving beds with towels or other objects but that’s not enforced people claim them and don’t use them. Nice place buffet is a bit repetitive and if you don’t bring long trousers or pants you won’t get into the restaurants that need bookings
