Ok...where to begin. Fantastic location if you like being in the thick of restaurants, walking to north beach. Fab locals. Next door to the oldest bar in SF, which has live bands everynight. Not the place to stay for peace and quiet. No 8 bus stops right outside. Walk to china town. Bad bits...currently a building site, rooms are tired and basic but you get a fridge/microwave which saves a fortune. Towels and beds are clean. Showers are hot but its old and basic. I'd stay there again. May not be posh enough for some. No lift, no pool. Staff are helpful

I most definitely will not ever stay in this hotel again no fans in the rooms , no ac or heat no elevator so it was not easy for me to access. The first night I was there the room next to mine sounded like they had a party until 11 PM. The area was good but this hotel is not worth the cost.

The room is small, no space to open 2 suitcases. Noisy construction going on during the day even in the evening. Debris on the carpet are left in the carpet for few days. No air conditioning. The location is handy. We were able to put our suitcases in the storage before check-in and after check-out.

Photo of the property misled me a little, it’s only a door off the walkway. A little tired looking, there were building works in progress but ideal for an overnight, as it was for us. Kindly let us leave our bags in a secure room whilst we went to Alcatraz (20 min walk). Even offered to ring for a taxi when we returned to collect our bags. Good location & plenty of food outlets close by.

The Europa is budget hotel with private and shared bathroom options. It's an older building. However, they keep it super-clean. The shared bathrooms and showers are spotless. The rooms are large with a sink, fridge, microwave, and a large TV with Dish. The staff is really nice and accommodating. There are many dining options literally next door with a plethora of options being on the border of "Little Italy" and Chinatown. It's a few blocks from Coit Tower, the best views of the San Francisco Bay, in my opinion. The oldest running bar in SF is a block away....The Saloon...if you like famous musicians, live Blues players, no cover except weekends and super cheap drinks! Basically The Europa is a spectacular place for medium budget travelers.

A total disaster. Misrepresented in the Hotels.com app: the pictures were nothing like the real deal. Filthy room, filthy floors, A REAL FLOP HOUSE. Just awful. Advertised airport limo with price per person. I called the night before and spoke with someone at Europa who said, "Just call when you arrive." I did and was told that there was NO LIMO. Out of a score of 1 to 10 I would rate this place a minus 10 (-10).

Worked for what we needed. No frills, very basic. We had a bed, refrigerator, microwave and a private bathroom. No ac, no coffee maker, no chair, and no nightstand. Not a lot of room for your suitcase. The hotel is old, but our room was clean and we were on the quiet side of the hotel so that was nice.

No window ventilation~ I could not open it. If I could, no Screen. Used Bandage with some blood on the shower floor! Black Microwave covered with dust & did not use. Dirty Mini-Refrigerator door handle was filthy! * obvious lack of attention to details~custodial. No written Safety information nor clear Signage regarding Fire/Evacuation. No verbal Fire/Evacuation information either. All I knew was the Entry door I walked in.

If you want an overpriced stay in a "shoddy" (and thats me being kind) hotel where they cant even be arsed to vacuum the corridor carpets and where the non-smoking rooms reek of smoke, then this is the one for you. The only positive thing I can say is that it sits conveniently between Chinatown and Little Italy. The 2 contacts I had with members of the staff were pleasant enough. Oh! And there's no courtesy bus.

Right in the heart of North Beach! Colombus avenue is a busy thoroughfare. I don't mind. I have stayed in every type of room they offer and on all levels. I prefer a room with its own bathroom, yet they are popular. I don't mind a room with shared bathroom. As long as my room is close by the bathroom, also the room has its own vanity basin. I enjoy the size of the room, they have a refrigerator and a microwave oven also. The decor is on the older side, yet its still functional. For the price for something you are only going to sleep the nights in, cannot be beaten! Internet is good! Great TV easy to use. Great value for this super popular area, very close to excellent selection of restaurants and fast food establishments. The staff are friendly and kind too!

Room was small but clean and well-lit. The bed was comfy. (That's pretty much all we needed... we don't take a trip to SF to stay in the room, after all!) The one issue we had was the very low water pressure/flow in the shower, but the building is old so the plumbing is probably par for the course.

The rooms are just rooms but for some reason I enjoy them. The rooms with bathrooms are the best. Beds are usually just a topper. TVs are chill. Internet is iffy just cuz I can't connect with my Xbox.

Could not be more convenient location for us! Right in little Italy and across the street from Chinatown. Also walking distance to downtown and the pier (if you don't mind walking 30 min) Very vibrant area! Building itself feels like a 1980s hostel. Rooms were smaller than my bedroom and the sink for the bathroom was not even in the bathroom but in the bedroom. There was a microwave and fridge however and staff were friendly and helpful.

I did not have bedding upon check in. I sat down on the bed to put my shoes on, and the bed broke. The front desk REFUSED to call manager to handle situation. He is expecting me to sleep on a broke bed. This place is TERRIBLE, I will NOT be dealing with Europa Hotel or Expedia again.

I liked staying at Europa Hotel because it has a very convenient position in the city centre. We stayed in a two double beds room with private bathroom and a nice view from the window. The staff was kind and ready to help. I would go there again.

--- I had a deeply unpleasant experience at Hotel Europa. From the moment we arrived, the staff were unwelcoming and rude — and I’m still not sure why. Things escalated when the manager began harassing us and closely watching our every move, which felt invasive and inappropriate. I was falsely accused of smoking in the room — something I do not do. After that, the manager’s aggressive attitude seemed to influence the entire staff. Their behavior quickly became hostile and disrespectful. It was clear we were no longer welcome. I would not recommend this hotel!

DON’T BOOK THIS HOTEL! We had an active and confirmed reservation via Hotels.com, but when we arrived the receptionist insisted that we had cancelled – which we absolutely had not. Our Hotels.com app and confirmation email clearly showed that the booking was active and valid, but the receptionist refused to look at it because it was in another language. The receptionist was rude, unhelpful, and refused to assist us. It seemed obvious that the hotel had overbooked and given our room away. This is by far the worst service I have ever experienced at a hotel. Dirty, unreliable, and dishonest staff. Stay away if you don’t want to risk being left without a room despite having a confirmed booking.

I prefer a room with its own bathroom, yet they are popular. I don't mind a room with shared bathroom. As long as my room is close by the bathroom, also the room has its own vanity basin. Location, location, location! Hotel is in the heart of North Beach and easy walk to all the best North Beach restaurants, Caffe Trieste, and The Saloon. City Lights book store, Vesuvio, Chinatown,… are stumbling distance. If you need at least an average everyday spot, this hotel is not for you. The bed/room is clean. You sleep in it then go immerse yourself outside the front door!

Very old hotel, have to drag your luggage up the stairs but it is in great location. Walking distance to the Pier 39 and China town. Shower was nice and clean and beds surprisingly comfortable. I would request the bathroom in the room, can’t imagine using public restroom/shower.
