We loved the courtyard, cheese shop, bakery, and bar at this hotel. It was very active, and people hung out in the lobby and courtyard in the evenings. Very walkable around Petaluma. Room was clean and appreciated the courtyard view. For those who like big hotel rooms this is not for you. We would stay again.

The staff was wonderful, the room was small but very cute. Hot water was slow to arm up, but the water pressure was great and the water eventually got to the right spot. Biggest issue was that hotel WiFi went down for almost my entire stay and this was not communicated. Hotspotted and figured it out - but super hard to be on a business trip without reliable WiFi. The place was lovely but pretty difficult for the purposes of my trip

Historic hotel in the center of a very interesting city. Egg capital of the world, in the day. Our room was on the 5th floor which requires an elevator ride to the 4th floor and schlepping bags up to the 5th. Not a problem for us, but some folks may consider it. Charming lobby with that cool old historic vibe. Restaurants nearby within easy walking distance. No onsite parking, but street parking is free, just beware of the time limits. Reception explained it.

Wonderful stay at a Historic hotel. We really enjoyed the restaurant adjacent to the hotel called The Shuckery. Excellent food! The coffee shop there has a an old French pastry and coffee shop. Yummy too! The room was very clean and accommodating. The courtyard is stunning.

The hotel was very nice as was the customer service. Room was a bit small, but had everything. The shower was a bit grungy and looked like it hadn't had a real scrub-down in a bit, but overall, was a good stay!

I found the rooms were small and the bathroom smaller. Most of our room soaps and shampoo/conditioner were left at very low levels and in one case bath gel was empty. Room was not cleaned well, as dirty paper cups were left out. When I asked the Manager about this, his comment was some people like to reuse dirty cups.

Walking in to the hotel - I felt welcomed by staff and the cozy fire in the massive fireplace. We stowed our bags in our room and came back down to the lounge for a pre-dinner cocktail. Staff were friendly and efficient and the fire was wonderful on our stormy night. After dinner we returned to our room - it initially seemed clean and tidy but upon closer inspection (and lights) the grime and lack of attention to details in the renovation showed through. The bed was hard and linens scratchy - I was super thankfully to have brought my own pillow. I should have guessed we would be in for a loud night when I found the earplugs on each side of the bed, but the noise was still mildly troubling, especially from the room below us with the blaring TV. Thankfully the folks at the front desk responded to complaints and got the volume turned down. Road noise carried through all night despite our location facing the courtyard. I wished for a cozier room with comfier bed - overall the room got the job done and the staff were very pleasant, but nothing to rave about.

Overall experience was good. The parking was a bit challenging as you have to move your car by 10am. In addition, was told the water will turn off at 10am. Loved the cafe and closeness to everything. The room was small but comfy, the mattress was heavenly. The building is a bit old but charming. The bathroom could be cleaner.

While the room looked as it appears in the photos, my main issue with my stay was the noise. My room was facing the courtyard and also right next to the elevator. Anytime someone used the lift there was a loud ding (likely to indicate the arrival of the lift) that could be loudly heard in my room all night. In addition, the outside street noise reverberated in the room. I barely got any sleep even with the earplugs provided by the hotel (they were placed in the room — probably because they know how loud it gets). Being a Platinum Expedia member, I didn’t appreciate being given such a noisy room. The room price didn’t reflect the poor quality provided. Really disappointed by this so called Hilton hotel.

We loved our stay! The building has so much charm and there is so much within walking distance. It’s true: the walls are thin so we could hear the dog in the next room but the management must have responded quickly because the owner came back. We love dogs so we didn’t mind. The highlight for me was THE BED. I like my mattresses more on the firm side so I was in heaven. Perfect pillows. Perfect sheets. I slept amazingly well. Thanks, Hotel Petaluma!

This place has that unique old Spanish building quality that is so charming and endemic to California. Gorgeous tile, metalwork, and such. Only drawbacks were somewhat flat, “bag of sand” style pillows on the beds, quite low water pressure in the showers and oddly small toilets. Otherwise very comfortable place with an amazing bakery next door, and very close to restaurants, a beautiful park, and bars and shopping. Also the staff are incredibly cordial, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They let me keep my luggage behind the counter in the lobby after I’d checked out, and the guy behind the bar was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area.

This is a great hotel in a great location. Walking distance to downtown. It is an older hotel with small rooms but lots of charm. They do supply earplugs in the rooms because you can hear everything but I wear earplugs anyway when I stay at a hotel because I'm a light sleeper. You have to find street parking which can be a little tricky but overall I liked this hotel and will stay there again.

Fire alarm went off in room at 545 am. Couldn’t find anyone to deal with it. Found someone at front desk after packing up and leaving because the noise was so annoying. Front desk employee said they heard about a beeping but thought it had resolved. It was not resolved. It was going off for about 40 minutes.

When I checked in the front desk manager informed me that they had to downgrade my room due to maintenance issues. It wasn't clear how many other reservations were impacted and they couldn't tell me the specific maintenance issue. They could not offer a credit for the smaller room because I reserved through Expedia. They did provide a hotel credit of $15, but that wasn't worth the closet size room and smaller bed than what I had reserved. I've been coming to this hotel for many years and have always been more than satisfied. Unfortunately, the front desk manager left something to be desired in how he communicated the issue.

Everything was wonderful. I had broken toes so the front desk people helped me with my luggage. The front desk was open 24/7, which was excellent for my late check/in. The lobby was beautiful. My room was a bit small but perfect for me. I would highly recommend Hotel Petaluma to anyone staying in the area.

Everything was wonderful. I had broken toes so the front desk people helped me with my luggage. The front desk was open 24/7, which was excellent for my late check/in. The lobby was beautiful. Nice hotel in a beautiful old building, but don't stay here. I paid fully and booked two king rooms a month prior to my family's arrival date. Our flight from the East Coast to get us to the area was delayed for 14 hours and finally cancelled. I called the hotel on our arrival date and explained that our flight was cancelled, but we fully intended to make it to the hotel at some point to check in. I specifically told them to not give away our rooms because we were going to use them. The front desk person who I spoke to informed me that she would keep our rooms for us. We followed up with a call when we finally landed. When we arrived, we were informed that they had given away one of our rooms and gave us a much smaller room without a discount or refund from the king room price that we paid for. The man working the front desk was rude to my wife and completely unapologetic.

Everything was amazing. The guy checking us in was less than friendly and kept saying our room wasn’t ready even past the check in time. Less than ideal when you have an infant but when I asked someone else, they were able to check us in with no problems! And she was so friendly and lovely to chat with

The staff was not very helpful, parking was a nightmare unless you want to park blocks away. No desk in the room.

Great location to walk to shops and dining. Quiet at night but street noise loud early morning. Staff seemed a bit “busy” so I didn’t feel very welcomed when I checked in. Also, no A/C! I was alerted before checking in, and fans were placed in my room.

Live in San Francisco and was my 1st visit to Petaluma. Took the Ferry to Larkspur and Smart Train to Petaluma and walk to this Historic Hotel. Hotel his a comfortable relaxing atmosphere and the bar in the lobby with a huge fireplace is outstanding. The restaurant was terrific and most thing are a comfortable walk from the Hotel. I will be back.

This historic hotel has wonderful public spaces including a fireplace to die for! We stayed in a room directly on the corner so road noise was extreme though the comfy beds made for a good night’s sleep. Sunday morning, the attached coffee shop was closed which was a surprise. Shuckery’s was excellent for dinner our first night.

This hotel is an absolute gem. Its charm is infinite. I could seriously live there full time! Lots of fun stuff to do in the lobby: bar, tasting room, coffee shop and lots of fun locations within a short walk of the hotel.

We loved the courtyard, cheese shop, bakery, and bar at this hotel. It was very active, and people hung out in the lobby and courtyard in the evenings. Very walkable around Petaluma. Room was clean and appreciated the courtyard view. For those who like big hotel rooms this is not for you. We would stay again.

We always enjoy our stay here. It’s a great little vintage hotel. However, the person at the front desk when we checked in was not very pleasant. They may have just been having a hard day, but it was hard to ask them any questions or get help from them without feeling like we were inconveniencing them. In any case, the people at the bar who worked for the restaurant “Shucked” were great, and the addition of Costeaux Bakery to the place is awesome!

My suite had only a regular room with a tiny bathroom. Parking is on the street, and you have to move the car by 10 AM in the morning to avoid city parking fees. Dining option for breakfast is a local bakery with no healthy food options like protein.

Wonderful stay at a Historic hotel. We really enjoyed the restaurant adjacent to the hotel called The Shuckery. Excellent food! The coffee shop there has a an old French pastry and coffee shop. Yummy too! The room was very clean and accommodating. The courtyard is stunning.

Located close to or at downtown . Parking was a hassle since one needs to park at a structure 2 blocks away . The staff was helpful . The lobby-bar area was quite attractive and cozy. The room however was very small .

We've stayed at the Hotel Petaluma many times and it's great this lovely old property is being preserved. However, if you decide to stay there avoid room 201 and likely 301 and 401. These rooms are next to the traffic light and every time someone pushes the button to use the crosswalk, when the light changes there is a loud cuckoo-like noice repeated three or four times. It is particularly clear in room 201 where you soon feel like you're inside a cuckoo clock. We already knew the hotel was fully booked, so asking for another room would have been a waste of time. The gentleman checking us in was so fatigued he was having problems processing people between yawns. A second guy arrived and said he'd help in a minute, but he never did. He seemed to be amused by his phone while his colleague struggled, but did check four parties in. The overall impression was of high schoolers running the show. Our room was clean and included a coffee maker and complimentary biscuits. The shower pressure was low and not very hot, but it was sufficient. If you like soap bars, bring your own. The location is great and Petaluma's downtown has some fun antique shops and boutiques. There are also a lot of good restaurants and some fun bars. We love historic hotels but if we ever return to this one, we definitely won't accept room 201.

We had an amazing two night stay here. So clean and beautiful and in such a great location. A French bakery and restaurant on the property and the downtown was beautiful! We will be staying here again in the future.
