Hotel Los Ranchos

The staff (Jason, Eric, Maricel, and Santa Elena) were very helpful - they helped us know what time was best to go to the beach (Jacó has strong waves, 10 am is good though, but wear sunscreen), helped us when we accidentally got locked out of the hotel room, and also let us keep our luggage in the office (we arrived early and wanted to walk on the beach while we waited for check in). The pool was great and A/C is a must in Jacó, so I was glad they had A/C. Our room was cleaned each day and towels were provided. I think they have beach towels to rent, but we brought our own. The breakfast was good and the cook is friendly. I had pancakes with strawberries and eggs. The hotel was quiet and the landscaping is pretty. We saw an iguana on the grounds. We were about a two minute walk from the beach. If you go to Jacó, we recommend trying the smash burgers from Star Burger nearby. Also, Pachi’s bakery has good empanadas and the Frutería El Pueblo has nice staff that cut up fruit for you to try. These were all within walking distance for us. Horizon church is also within walking distance, though a little far. They have fun activities like Bible study and even a burrito ministry, I highly recommend that you check them out. We rode the Transportes Jacó bus from Terminal Atlantico Norte in San José. It cost about $7 per person each way, which is a good deal. The bus on the way to Jacó had A/C, which was nice. Anyway, if you go to Jacó, I hope you go to Hotel Los Ranchos!

Can’t beet the free breakfast, the rooms are very spacious I travel with wife and two kids and having three beds was great. The pool was good to cool down. Overall is great for the price. The beach is a minute walk the waves are very high but we drove to near by beaches which are more calm to swim. Mantas beach, Herradura beach and Playa Blanca. The only negative I see is there is no pool towels you will have to pay.

Breakfast was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was great.

Thanks for another fine stay... sorry to miss seeing Erick but glad he is getting some rest and playtime. Jason and Mariela did a wonderful job in his absence! We love staying at this treasure of a place.

The location is good just minutes away from the beach. However the area is very crowded with cars parked on the way to the beach. The room that was assigned to us had some leaks from the toilet and the A/c vents. The staff changed the room after we complained which was good. Also let us check out late with minimal charges. However the residents who uses the pool plays loud music with no care for other residents. The management should look into this. The faucets and showers need to be changed as they seem outdated and loose.
