We had a really comfortable stay at The Monarch. We particularly appreciated the welcome that we received at 8.45am having just arrived off an 11 hour flight from London. We were able to access our room immediately and enjoy a very comfortable rest before exploring the very local mall. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our short stay. The hotel is located less than 1 minute walk from Rosebank train station which made for very safe and convenient transfers from and to the airport just half an hour (with just one change at Sandton). One thing that visitors to this hotel should be aware of is that it is a halal hotel so there are no alcoholic beverages and no pork products available. We didn’t know this until we arrived but it in no way detracted from our stay here: we would happily stay again.

Exceptional Boutique Hotel with period furniture, rich paintings, large rooms, excellent decor, well maintained small hotel. The building is a Heritage building converted from an old telephone exchange and post office. Location is on Oxford Road, next to Metro station, and is close to Rosebank Mall - they provide Golf cart service. Safe location. Staff is excellent and responsive and friendly. The breakfast is very good. Very happy with the stay and would consider it again.
