Great staff, food first day was very good, great location for castle and reasonable prices. Good selection behind bar. A bit tired looking, and facilities need an upgrade. New owners in place since end of August, so I’m sure improvements will be made. Would still stay again if in the area

We are really pleased to have stayed here. It's a great building which I imagine the overseas tourists must be in awe of. Well even this English one was! The staff were really good, we had a very good evening meal and breakfast. There is a car park at the back which in high season must be a very useful thing for guests in this very busy village.

A beautiful historical pub, in a fantastic location. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable. We didn't eat evening meal but did have drinks in the bar. Great atmosphere with attentive and friendly staff. Breakfast the next morning was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

The staff were very helpful and welcoming and the food was well cooked and presented. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The easy parking is a bonus in a very congested area of the village. The main door is on to an extremely busy road so pedestrians need to take care. Some of the decor looks a little tired. We failed to get a signal for the WiFi and the drinks machine defeated us. Altogether very good value.

The property was fine, on a busy corner but well sound not a problem inside the room which. was of good size, breakfast was good and parking was easy, with plenty to see around the village, all in all a very good few days

The staff were lovely and helpful and the meals superb. Housekeeping was a bit lacking - our room was quite dusty on some surfaces and well handled parts of the joinery were noticeably dirty eg bathroom door frame. The hotel is right in the centre of everything and the village is incredibly charming. On the whole, we loved our stay.

Stayed for 1 night with my mum who was visiting a long time best friend. Our room was a twin and absolutely lovely xx staff were warm and welcoming and we had a meal in the bar which was very nice .. a private dinner party was in progress but service was still great. The only niggle was a dirty towel left in the shower and the bathroom could do with a good clean .. mould on sealant by shower and toilet bowl stained. A proper hoover and better fitting valance sheets would look a little nicer. Nothing ruined our stay though and as it for for one night we let it go xx could be fabulous but I’d go with good.

This place has excellent friendly staff, the food is very good allbeit a limited menu if you are looking for something healthy! The room was large clean and comfortable, the only criticism was the tired looking shower room, where a lick of paint on yhe walls would clean it up and removecthe mould around the outside of the shower tray, just a replacement of silicone would change everything in that room. But overall a lovely place in an excellent location and will be vising again

We stayed at Bankes Arms Hotel in Corfe near Bournemouth for three nights. The room was very basic. The table next to the bed didn’t have a flat surface which was not noticeable until I placed a cup of hot coffee on the table which spilt everywhere. The flimsy curtains let in too much light every morning. The bathroom was disgusting - a broken dish held toiletries for our use. The towel rail fell off the wall on first use! The finish was rough to say the least! The table next to the bed badly needed a paint job, both headboards were loose and we had to put pillows between the headboard and the wall to stop them rattling. We stayed there for the convenience of being near Corfe castle and surrounding area which had a lot to offer. And to top it all when water started coming through the ceiling in the breakfast room this morning, the owner/manager casually placed ice buckets on the floor to catch the dripping water! Corfe is a fabulous place to visit but avoid Bankes Arms Hotel at all costs! For what we paid for 3 nights was totally outrageous. It’s day light robbery! Avoid it like the plague.

The room itself was clean and spacious but the floor was very much on a slope. Staff were really helpful making sure we could have breakfast at 7:30 as advertised on Hotels.com as this is earlier than the actual website for the Hotel. A couple of issues though with some of the features. The show was hanging off the wall and I had to connect it back up to its fixings. Towels were on the small side, bath towels not bath sheets and the location of the mirror, the only one was in the bathroom a significant distance away from the nearest plug socket so the only way I could judge how drying my hair was after washing was using the reflection in the TV screen. Another mirror needs to be provided on the chest of drawers and close to a socket.

Team were so helpful throughout, allowing us to change in the room before it was ready etc. Breakfast was 10/10 - would fully recommend the full English, really was excellent. However, pub quite run down and in need of investment and refurbishment. Running water noise from faulty toilet and paintwork hanging off walls just some examples. Really excellent building and fab staff though.

The room was very hot. There was no fan or AC. The room was on the front of hotel and there was a busy road outside which was noisy and so it wasn't an option to open the windows. However the food was very good.

Wonderful character hotel with central location and the really welcoming staff. Breakfast was just wonderful. Sadly the only downside was that we didn’t sleep as located right on the main through road, church clock chimes hourly, noisy pelican crossing right outside the windows and early deliveries - but none of this can be helped.

Vegetarian breakfast was brilliant! But equipment in room didn’t work well! WiFi didn’t work on 2nd floor where we were. Kettle kept turning on and off on its own! Great views from our 2nd floor room! Easy parking.

The hotel is beautiful with lovely views. The room was also very pretty and my daughter loved that she had an adjoining room with a separate door. The food in the restaurant was also very good but took time to bring condiments. The mattress on the double bed was really thin and not the comfiest but the single bed was super comfy. As the room was hot we opened the window slightly but this did mean we got a lot of traffic noise and the sound of the church bell on the hour every hour. Regardless, I would recommend this as a lovely place to stay.

We’ve just got back from a stay here, it’s a lovely hotel, the food is lush and service great. We recieved a bottle of fizz for my hubbys birthday which was a thoughtful touch. The Room was a decent size, shower hot and fairly powerful, the basic amenities were fine. The only issue was the lack of secondary glazing in our room. I appreciate with listed buildings you have to preserve the original windows but my friends room at the front had secondary glazing but ours did not and it showed. Our room was close to the main road and my husband is a very light sleeper. This meant he barely slept at all on our first night, which affected the rest of the stay. The only coffee provided in our room was decaf, but he was able to get a caffeine hit at breakfast still. It is a lovely hotel though with stunning views and I would recommend if you want to be in a fantastic location. If you are a light sleeper though, I would suggest making sure you have one of the rooms with secondary glazing or bring earbuds!

Corfe Castle is small but beautiful and the Bankes Arms is conveniently situated in the heart of the town, with a car park at the rear. We stayed in the Eleanor room at the front, which was a good sized room, with a comfortable bed. The shower head in the bathroom was bit temperamental, sliding down the pole if not in exactly the right position, but otherwise all fine. The room was noisy during the evening, especially on the Saturday night, as sound travelled up from the bar below and there was a surprising amount of traffic from the road outside, but this wasn't unexpected, given we were staying in a pub/hotel. There was a kettle, tea etc in the room (including coffee bags) but sadly no biscuits. However, with the bakery across the road we 'managed' fine without! We ate in the hotel on the first evening - good service and good food (fish & chips/burger/ sticky toffee pudding and an excellent creme brulee) of which there was plenty. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered the evening before and was cooked fresh - the poached eggs were perfect. All the staff were lovely, and credit must go especially to the lady in charge of breakfast who was having to contend with it raining inside from different locations both mornings - a drawback to working in an old building. We would definitely go back!

Beautiful Hotel right in the middle of Corfe Castle. We had lovely rooms, the staff was very friendly, and we had a very good dinner and breakfast. Only a few steps from the railway station. There's quite a bit of traffic on the street, so it's not very quiet, and the WIFI on the second floor was weak.

A lovely old historic pub but incredibly overpriced. Our room was nice, but at luxury prices, you expect luxury - its tired and in need of a good clean and lick of paint, we had one small shower gel for two of us, no soap, and a coffee filter machine but no filter coffee! Someone then had to come from their home to let us in (she had to go through the back door, so if the front door was ok, we would have gone in that way!) Two staff were great - Lou, who had to come to get us in when we were locked out, and the breakfast serving lady - they were both cheerful, friendly and helpful. The other staff acted like customers were a pain, were rude and surly. One member of staff even asked her colleague where to 'bung' our bags, even though we were stood there! Although the food was good, and it was the perfect place for where we had to be, it definitely wasn't worth the cost, and our stay was spoilt by the issues mentioned above.

Perfect location and staff very friendly and helpful. Room a bit tired looking and no working fan on a hot day. Werent informed about lack of hot water and only realised after having a cold shower. Advised we had arrived at 10.30 but room was still not available when we returned at 5.30.

We booked our stay via Tesco vouchers and it really has been great value for money. The hotel is very welcoming and eager to please. Abby greeted us and gave us lots of suggestions about where to visit and places to eat, not really necessary as the food there was absolutely first class. Breakfasts were included in the price and we were looked after brilliantly by Wendy - nothing was too much trouble - efficient, friendly and it was obvious that her customers came first, thank you Wendy! Our room was a good size and had everything one could wish for, comfy beds and plenty of storage space; the bathroom was a little tired, but perfectly functional. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring and we did everything we wanted to, and more. We have fallen in love with Dorset and would definitely return to the Bankes Arms Hotel - a great stay!

Coffee machine didnt work so when we went for dinner we spoke to a member of staff who said they would attend to it but didnt and we gad to ask another member of staff for a kettle in the end. Sink plug jammed do couldnt empty. Internet didnt work unless loaded in the bar. Shortly after returning to room connection was lost. We ordered our meal which took over an hour to appear. Similar situation with breakfast. Booked as requested, for 8.30am. Member of staff didnt appear until 9.00am and we waited in excess of 25 minutes for our pre ordered meal to appear.

The room itself was clean and spacious but the floor was very much on a slope. Staff were really helpful making sure we could have breakfast at 7:30 as advertised on Hotels.com as this is earlier than the actual website for the Hotel. A couple of issues though with some of the features. The show was hanging off the wall and I had to connect it back up to its fixings. Towels were on the small side, bath towels not bath sheets and the location of the mirror, the only one was in the bathroom a significant distance away from the nearest plug socket so the only way I could judge how drying my hair was after washing was using the reflection in the TV screen. Another mirror needs to be provided on the chest of drawers and close to a socket.

I was aware there was at least a 50% chance of a room overlooking the main road (Wareham to Swanage). But sadly I was also overlooking the sharp corner. Meaning HGVs and Chiller units were directly under my window. The key could not be found that night for my room. However when shown to it, the door was open. I didn’t question the lack of key. I asked for a fan as it was very humid. No one ever came back to me. There was a dubious stain in the toilet (not cleaned properly). My bed was on a metal frame. It creaked with every movement. I have stayed at the Bankes Arms in Corfe several times over the years and each time the service is friendly and impeccable. I always feel like I am treated as a valued guest. Great food in their restaurant and nothing but praise for everyone at the Bankes Arms. Will continue to go there each time I visit the area.

Wonderful character hotel with central location and the really welcoming staff. Breakfast was just wonderful. Sadly the only downside was that we didn’t sleep as located right on the main through road, church clock chimes hourly, noisy pelican crossing right outside the windows and early deliveries - but none of this can be helped.

Stayed with my friend for a girly night away. Perfect spot for an overnight break. Close to both Swanage and Studland and also Wareham. The Castle is worth a visit and at the same he right time of year, step on the steam train. Very hospitable staff, great twin room overlooking the square.

Beautiful Hotel right in the middle of Corfe Castle. We had lovely rooms, the staff was very friendly, and we had a very good dinner and breakfast. Only a few steps from the railway station. There's quite a bit of traffic on the street, so it's not very quiet, and the WIFI on the second floor was weak.

The staff were lovely and helpful and the meals superb. Housekeeping was a bit lacking - our room was quite dusty on some surfaces and well handled parts of the joinery were noticeably dirty eg bathroom door frame. The hotel is right in the centre of everything and the village is incredibly charming. On the whole, we loved our stay.

The hotel is beautiful with lovely views. The room was also very pretty and my daughter loved that she had an adjoining room with a separate door. The food in the restaurant was also very good but took time to bring condiments. The mattress on the double bed was really thin and not the comfiest but the single bed was super comfy. As the room was hot we opened the window slightly but this did mean we got a lot of traffic noise and the sound of the church bell on the hour every hour. Regardless, I would recommend this as a lovely place to stay.

Corfe Castle is small but beautiful and the Bankes Arms is conveniently situated in the heart of the town, with a car park at the rear. We stayed in the Eleanor room at the front, which was a good sized room, with a comfortable bed. The shower head in the bathroom was bit temperamental, sliding down the pole if not in exactly the right position, but otherwise all fine. The room was noisy during the evening, especially on the Saturday night, as sound travelled up from the bar below and there was a surprising amount of traffic from the road outside, but this wasn't unexpected, given we were staying in a pub/hotel. There was a kettle, tea etc in the room (including coffee bags) but sadly no biscuits. However, with the bakery across the road we 'managed' fine without! We ate in the hotel on the first evening - good service and good food (fish & chips/burger/ sticky toffee pudding and an excellent creme brulee) of which there was plenty. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered the evening before and was cooked fresh - the poached eggs were perfect. All the staff were lovely, and credit must go especially to the lady in charge of breakfast who was having to contend with it raining inside from different locations both mornings - a drawback to working in an old building. We would definitely go back!

The room was large clean and comfortable, the only criticism was the tired looking shower room, where a lick of paint on yhe walls would clean it up and removecthe mould around the outside of the shower tray, just a replacement of silicone would change everything in that room. But overall a lovely place in an excellent location and will be vising again
