When trying to check in the desk staff saw me approaching and instead answered the phone to keep us waiting (as if a phone customer is more important than a customer who is already present.) Advertised as having an EV charger but doesn't note they charge a flat fee of £25 regardless of charge used (more expensive than a motorway services so total rip off.) Walls are paper thin so people coming back at 2am woke us up and their chatting kept us awake for an hour, also the person next to us snooring was obnoxious to listen to.

Room was freezing cold and never warmed up. Electric charging / parking is now £25 per night which is ridiculous. Very poor service and standards. This hotel never used to be this bad it’s only in the last month, they are really penny pinching.

Overall a great stay. The staff were friendly and the room was clean with all the facilities you would need ( ironing board and iron, hairdrier and toiletries, flat screen tv). I had dinner which was lovely and there is plenty of choice on the menus. There is a well stocked bar and sky news in the seating/dining area. Breakfast is a self service buffet but staff are on hand to help and had a wide choice of food (bit more fruit choices would be nice).

This property has really good reviews online but our room was gross. Stains all over the carpet & headboard that appeared to be an old pet accident. Smelled a bit like smoke in our room too even though it was a smoke free room. We were only here here to sleep so it was fine for a night.

Room 10 had a really bad damp smell as soon as we walked in. As it was 11pm when we checked in, we diod not complain but mentioned it on departure. Also green light on a/c control shone very brightly in the dark and occasional rumbling noise in bathroom caused poor nights sleep. Good breakfast in morning, staff very pleasant

Bathroom clean but food/drink stains all over carpet in bedroom and pen marks on duvet cover. Breakfast was ok. Coffee good. And fresh food put out regularly. Not a huge choice of hot items. Shower tray had marks all over too which did not look appealing. Bed was rock hard and only one pillow each but reception did provide extra pillows upon request. All staff very friendly and helpful.

Free WiFi did not work and couldn’t get a reception in the room so couldn’t make phone calls to family, read emails or browse the internet. To make matters worse the air conditioning vent kept making a horrendous noise throughout the duration of the night preventing me from getting a decent sleep. Room was clean and bathroom looked new, staff were friendly enough - on balance, just unfortunate to get the room I did.

Received a wonderful greeting upon check in by Dawn, was very informative and friendly, making (very late) check in a breeze. The room was specious and clean. We travelled as a family of 3, and had plenty of room. Breakfast was plentiful and all areas were cleaned and maintained to a high standard throughout. As soon as dishes were finished with, the staff were quickly removing and cleaning tables. Would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family and will 100% be visiting again. Thank you to all the staff for an amazing stay.

Excellent hotel for an overnight stop. We stayed on route to Folkestone from Glasgow & had a very comfortable stay. The room was clean & spacious and the air con was really appreciated in the hot weather. Most of all the service was excellent! I had to contact hotel in advance as I'm on quite a specific low fat diet for medical reasons. They really went above and beyond to make sure I had something to eat for an evening meal & breakfast. This really made me much happier and less anxious about eating away from my own home cooking. My husbands & daughters meals were also fab & we found the prices really reasonable. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks so much to all the staff, you were fantastic!

My family and I enjoyed a pleasant stay during our visit to the Wigan Holiday Inn Express. The staff were pleasant and polite and there was a nice selection available at Breakfast. I would definitely recommend the hotel if your looking for a secluded Retreat not to far from Manchester.

Excellent hotel for an overnight stop. We stayed on route to Folkestone from Glasgow & had a very comfortable stay. The room was clean & spacious and the air con was really appreciated in the hot weather. Most of all the service was excellent! I had to contact hotel in advance as I'm on quite a specific low fat diet for medical reasons. They really went above and beyond to make sure I had something to eat for an evening meal & breakfast. This really made me much happier and less anxious about eating away from my own home cooking. My husbands & daughters meals were also fab & we found the prices really reasonable. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks so much to all the staff, you were fantastic!

Room was nice, relativly new building & facilities. Shower in the room took a longtime to heat up. Think it like a faulty thermostat. Food wss very bad. Dinner monday night was cold and of very poor qualiity. Croissants Ruesdsy at breakfast hard & stale, clearly kept over from prev.day.

Overall a great stay. The staff were friendly and the room was clean with all the facilities you would need ( ironing board and iron, hairdrier and toiletries, flat screen tv). I had dinner which was lovely and there is plenty of choice on the menus. There is a well stocked bar and sky news in the seating/dining area. Breakfast is a self service buffet but staff are on hand to help and had a wide choice of food (bit more fruit choices would be nice).

Room clean, but on the small side, with only one chair between two of us! Noisy neighbours and banging doors into the late evening. Thought one pillow soiled but it was possibly due to a brown label on the inner cover. Pillows were extremely hard! Room telephone to reception did not work so had to visit reception and obtain an outside line telephone number in case we needed anything else. Very patchy internet, although free, but proved rather frustrating. Evening meal excellent. We had fish and chips which was served by friendly staff and was piping hot! Breakfast was ok, but served on cold plates and food was not that hot, except for the sausages. Coffee was good, we had Cappuccino from machine and it was frothy and tasty. Unlikely to return unless offered a better room with efficient WiFi and better sound-proofing.

Very easy and comfortable stay. We have an EV and could easily charge, with lots of chargers in the car park and 2 pricing/speed options that were both excellent value. The room and bed were super comfy. Staff nice. Breakfast included and good. Even gluten free options available. Would recommend to friends
