Black Hills Luxury Suites

The location was great! Pool had bugs floating in it and a bit too much chlorine. Beds were a bit on the harder side.

This property is next door to the Best Western but shared facilities. Check in instructions were not clear. Once we knew where to check in, it was fine. The description “apartment” is a bit misleading. It is a small apartment like space with a hotel vibe. It was clean and quiet. We enjoyed having an extra bedroom. The sleeper sofa left little to be desired. Ok for a small child, but would be uncomfortable for an adult. The apt. Is a little ways from the parking space and down about 6 steps. So, there is no cart to use to bring in your luggage and you will have a few stairs. So, keep that in mind before choosing to stay here. It met our needs, just wasn’t what I was expecting.

It was difficult to navigate around the property- no signage of where anything was. Our room was satisfactory. Breakfast was good. The pool area was poorly lite and the water was not clean and cloudy. the hot tub looked dirty so I did not go in.

This was our third time staying at this location, and will stay again soon. Great pool and hot tub. Breakfast is better than most, serving eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, cereals, toast, muffins, waffles, yogurt and fruits. Hill City is a great small town.

The suites are good, basic two bedroom apartments. The indoor pool is nice, breakfasts were okay, the staff were pleasant.

The apartment was in poor condition - curtains and bedding falling apart, lights above stove and kitchen sink didn’t work. The indoor pool was disgusting and the outdoor pool was very small and unheated. Breakfast was appreciated and the apartment functioned for our needs.

I am appalled that this place can call themselves luxury suites. Maybe this would be considered luxury in a third world country. The room was not clean. The edges of the carpet have literally never been vacuumed and were soiled with filth so heavily that you can see a ring all the way around the apartment. There was black hair in the bathtub. The kitchen floors were disgusting including sticky spots crumbs and at least one dead bug. Aside from uncleanliness the furniture was old and dingy. I cringed to let 2 of my kids sleep on the sleeper sofa. The other two beds were comfortable though and appeared to have clean sheets at least. I would not stay here again if it was free. I would not stay here again if I were paid money to stay here. I want to erase this memory from my brain. Thank goodness it was only for one night. My husband and kids swam in the pool since that was the whole reason we wanted to stay at this place. The pool looked very nice in pictures. In reality the entire pool area was so full of dead bugs- literally hundreds of dead bugs all around the outside edges of the space. The hot tub was so ‘off’ on the balance of chemicals that it bleached my son’s black underwear to pink. (Yes I have a 12 year old boy who put on his swim trunks without taking off his undies;) I am trying to think of something positive to say. The free breakfast was pretty decent. Kids and husband enjoyed it and got full. And there was a nice selection of coffee even decaf

Good breakfast. The rooms were great and the staff friendly. Kids loved the pool and hot tub, but for me, the pool was a little small when crowded with several kids. The outdoor pool is not heated, and the temps were about 50-60 degrees during our stay. We were two families traveling together, and we liked the apartment feel of the 2 rooms we rented. The breakfast was great.

The accommodations were a two bedroom, one bath place. It was spacious and worked well for a family of four. The outdoor pool was nice, as well as the indoor pool. The workout room was extremely hot and needs to be Better ventilated. The outdoor area is pet friendly however, people were not cleaning up after their pets and, it was abundant. The unit was fine, but, there were also a couple cockroaches.

We had to check in late due to our flight. We got checked in quick and had clear instructions to our room. Room was clean everyday. Property was very quiet even during Sturgis.

Stayed here for 2 nights,Could be better as the is old and needs new carpet. Saw beetles crawling in the mornings or the carpet. Towel hanger came off. The pool need more frequent cleaning .The good is that they have great /excellent front staff( aka Best Western), i cannot be more pleased with their approach. The breakfast was great.

It was nice to have an apartment-style hotel but it was dirty inside and out.

It was an easy check in process and the hotel exterior was in good shape and well kept. Upon entering the suite it was roomy and the kitchen was well appointed except for no dishwasher. The living room had ample seating (although an awkward setup for tv watching) with a desk and chair. The suite was very comfortable and very quiet. On the downside the unit needed a bit of updating as the furniture was stained, the curtains were frayed and in some places shredded. The kitchen stove was electric with coil burners and aluminum foil covering the drip pans and a pan doesn't sit flat on the burner. The carpeting was dirty however, the unit itself was clean. The kitchen was lacking some necessities like some dish towels and oven mits. Though on the premises, you have to go to another building to get ice and use the laundry facilities. Overall, I would recommend the Black Hills Luxury Suites.

It wasn't a terrible place to stay. The Suite is really just an apartment. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was the dampness and musty smell. The apartment was located on the lower level of the building. I also noted that there was a hair clip and sock left on the floor from the previous guests, which indicates they did not clean it very well. There is no phone in the suite to call the front desk so you have to walk to the front desk of the Best Western if you need anything. That all being said, it served its purpose for our trip. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had many of the required necessities for cooking and enjoying meals in the unit.

We were attending the 2025 Sturgis Motorcycle rally, which is a monumental occasion with a large influx of people from all over the world. Even with that, the daily breakfast was exceptional and the rooms were kept provided with clean towels and the garbage emptied daily.

We booked what was advertised as a "luxury suite." It was actually a small apartment complex that was repurposed into hotel rooms. It was confusing to know where to check in, as it was actually run by the Best Western next door. While it was nice to have 2 rooms, it was not luxury or a suite. There was mold in the shower, due to no venting. The building doors were propped open with rocks, so no security. The pool was heavily chlorinated, in which our kids made comments. One night stay was fine, but would not go back.

Our stay was 4 nights and 5 days with this property. The staff in the Best Western hotel were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast area was clean and the food was good. The option for continental breakfast was one of the reasons I booked this property and I was very pleased. The pool access was also a plus for our kids. The property on the suite side was not kept up very well. Outside there were dead trees, overgrown weeds and the grass was in need of mowing. Inside the suite, there was a dust line along the floor boards throughout. The furniture and carpet were very dated, and there was also a very strong musty odor. The weather was not too hot while we were there, so we kept the windows open to air it out. We had planned to cook meals and take advantage of the kitchen in the suite, but went out of our way to stay out of the suite as much as possible due to the musty smell. The staff must be aware of the musty smell being a problem because the access doors to the building were propped open each morning to air out the hallways. All of our belongings came home smelling musty. I am not one to write bad reviews on places, but this place really needs to be updated or have a deep cleaning.

We stayed in one of the 2-bedroom apartments. The signage for check in is confusing. You check in at the Best Western. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I requested another lamp for the living room and one was brought over right away. I am 5'10" and the shower came up to my chest. I do not know how a taller person could use the shower? The shower head does need to be cleaned. The hotel staff changed the towels and emptied the trash everyday. The hot tub temperature could be warmer.

Very satisfied with my choice to stay here. Worked out great for my family. I was traveling with my husband and 2 teenage grandsons. Breakfast was good. More choices and bagels would have been nice. The biggest problem was the matress on the fold out couch it was so thin and uncomfortable they ended up taking turns sleeping in the bedroom and couch without opening the bed I would recommend changing out the pull-out mattress or offer roll away beds. Room was very clean and had everything we needed. Another recommendation would be to have an area on property with grills. It was costly to go out and eat dinner every night. It would have been nice to be able to grocery shop and grill out. My biggest complaint would be the fact that there was no lighting when walking to our room and that is a safety issue in my opinion. Hill City seemed to be a central location for all of the attractions. I would recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again.

We enjoy having our own unit. Check in wasn’t clear in that we didn’t realize it was affiliated with Best Western. The unit was comfortable just sometimes the bedroom was a bit warm at night because the air conditioning didn’t quite get in there enough. The wall fan that I think was supposed to send air through didn’t seem to work. Overall though we enjoyed our stay

The property is old and outdated. It appears to be an old apartment building converted into suites. We were on the first floor and could hear everything from the room above. When someone cooked you could smell it throughout the building. We were comfortable and slept well. I would consider it like an old lower end hotel — “luxury” is not an accurate description.

Spacious! Large rooms! Great for families or the need to spread out. It is a bit dated. They have very 90’s vibe yet everything seems very unused. The carpet padding is still very responsive. There are no usb outlets so bring a few bricks with you!!! Check in is at the Best Western but these 32 units are more remote and quiet. Still, lots of walkable options.

The Black Hills Luxury Suites are part of the Best Western Golden Spike next door. We got a spacious two-bedroom, one bathroom suite with full kitchen, very nice! There were a number of maintenance items that needed attention, however, so I could not give the property higher marks. I would recommend it as comfortable and a good value.

it stated luxury was far from that it was average a full apt. but people upstairs walked like elephants. long walk for breakfast had to go through another building. Was nice to have a full apt. but was not luxurious.

This place was anything but a luxury suite. It was listed as a 3 star hotel and priced that way too, but it’s a 2 star motel all day long. You have to check in at the Best Western next door, which would have been nice to know as I was wandering around looking for the front desk. There were stains on the carpet, furniture, and bath towels, and black mold in the shower. The grass looked like it hadn’t been mowed in a month. Their slogan on the sign reads, “beyond all expectations” which nothing could be further from the truth.

The staff is friendly, the room was comfortable and quiet, and breakfast was very good. Hill City is centralized to the Black Hills area. The town is easy to get around in. We were there over a week and enjoyed everything about our stay.

This hotel is ok, definitely not luxury. We had 2 clogged sinks in the bathroom. No one came to clean our room, replace towels or take out the garbage for the week we spent there. We had to ask them to do the garbage and for new towels, then it was only that day. I do have to say that the free breakfast was very good, lots of variety of breakfast foods Also check in and check out went smoothly and the staff was helpful

There was no mention that you need to check in and all operations are based at the Best Western next door. The grounds have been unkept for quite some time. I wasn't sure if the weeds or the diseased and dead trees were taller. The grass hadn't been mowed for a very long time. The A/C didn't work fully in our unit, leaving a very musty damp smell. The furniture is quite stained and a sink was cracked. The curtains are stained and dingy looking. Beds were very old and uncomfortable. Screws in the walls were popping out everywhere. The TV signal didn't work at all either. Overall, for the price and size, not the worst place I've stayed in, but I travel more than most for work. However, we had an accidental double booking that was very obvious between us and a group of friends. They did not reach out to us to verify, nor would they work with us at all on cancelling or re-booking the room. They very much don't care about repeat business.

Check in is confusing, it is at the Best Western registration. Breakfast was always being refilled with hot food, plenty of options. Staff very helpful, pleasant. Suite was awesome, plenty of room to move. Shower was a learning experience, staff came immediately to show us how it worked. Location was perfect for our sightseeing travels. Would definitely recommend staying.

Shower head was at my eye level and I’m 5’10” making it a little tough to shower. Carpet was old and needed replaced. Confusing checkin process. Shower curtains waaaay too long and flowed onto bathtub floor.

We thought we were booking a hotel suite. It ended up being a former apartment complex. We couldn't find where to check in. Ended up having to walk through 2 other buildings and across a parking lot to get to a hotel that was part of the "suites". Rooms were great other than stairs everyway

Private and quiet apartment with plenty of room for a family of 5. Close to restaurants, attractions, and shopping. Beautiful area of the Black Hills of South Dakota.

This property is good for a one or two night stay. The apartment was set up really nice and this place was only a 15 minute drive to Mt Rushmore. Very close to several places to see and eat within 15 to 30 minute drive. Badlands are about a 90 minute drive east. Custer State Park is very close to this hotel/apartment. Very nice place for a weekender if you want to see the Black Hills.

The property was a great base for touring Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer, Needles! Close to everything. We could walk to restaurants. They had a very nice pool and hot tub. Everything was clean. The only downside was that the interior is dated in the condo and everything is a little dark. But it worked out great for us, and we were very pleased.

Great location for getting around the black hills area. Shops not far away Nice to have access to the motel’s breakfast and pool. This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed there and would go back again.

It was easy to walk into stores and restaurants from the property.

The suites were perfect for our needs. The location is great. You can walk to the shops and restaurants in just a few minutes.

Large property with several room options and great breakfast buffet. It is in a walk able location and is central to the Mt Rushmore and area.

The outside of this property needs serious help. It looked like you could bale hay with the way the grass was cut. There's weeds all over--including in the pool area. The outside pool is pretty gross. The inside one was a little better. Breakfast was very nice although could use a variety instead of the same items every day for people staying multiple days. The ceiling above the air conditioner is caked on with dirt from it blowing up there. The seat cushions in the room are spotted and disgusting. The beds seemed clean and room service brought clean towels each day. The base board heater didn't have a front on it and looking inside, it's so dirty that it could easily be a fire hazard. I think just lack of attention to details is the problem. The main items were taken care of like the bed and bathroom. There wasn't a way to wash the dishes so it makes me wonder how they got cleaned to begin with. There wasn't a washcloth or towel or anything in the kitchen. And with the uninviting landscape that was just full of weeds and unkept and dead trees/bushes, it's really not a place I would choose to come back to.

These suites are much like a 2 bedroom apartment. Roomy and comfortable. The daily breakfasts served at the Best Western lobby area are the best of any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Full breakfast buffet with Farmer Brothers coffee. Indoor pool, outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Large grocery store 2 blocks away. Shops and eateries about 1/2 mile away. Hill City is one of the best locations for a Black Hills vacation.

Nous avons pris un appartement avec 2 chambres ,pas jeune mais propre .Qualite prix au top ,l'hôtel est très bien placé et a tous les avantages autour!le déjeuner est bon propre nous sommes restés 9 nuits et il y change au 2 jours pour les œufs et à la semaine pour les gaufres .Il manquait juste un peu de fruits ,du bacon ,bagel.juste un peu de variété mais j'le retournerais sans hésitation.

We used our Hotel.com rewards to reserve a 2 bedroom suite in the heart of the Black Hills and it was a real winner...clean. quiet, spacious, comfortable, and with outdoor themed decor. The kitchen was a bit shy on cookware, but we were able to adapt and save by cooking a few meals inhouse. The breakfast had a wide variety of options and was kept well stocked. It was hard to leave after our 3 night stay!

We really enjoyed staying here! Breakfast was good, with plenty of variety each morning. Staff was so kind. A gentleman who worked in the breakfast area recognized us and saved my son's sock that we accidentally left while eating there. Check in/check out was easy. The hotel was very comfortable and roomy, so much more than we expected honestly. We also enjoyed that the hotel/town easy to navigate around. The pools/hot tub were very enjoyable for both us and the kids. Literally the only complaints we had was the water in our room tasted HORRIBLE. But we noticed this throughout the town as well. And the beds, like most hotels, were not very comfortable. The breakfast bar's water must have had a filter though because it was some of the only water in town that actually tasted good! If we were to come back on a family vacation again, (which we would love to), we would most certainly stay here!
