Staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel is shared with hot office spaces so different from what you may be used to, but not to the detriment of our stay. Just a little quirky. Good location within walking distance of V&A waterfront although recommended to travel by uber / taxi after dark. Overall a good base for our weeks stay and good value compared to other hotels we had looked at. Lots of security personnel around the area which may make you feel nervous or reassured. We felt quite safe from our experience.

Utterly confusing hotel. Breakfast (which was very nice but didn’t open as early as stated, which was problematic as we like many others had early appointments) served at a nearby restaurant. Three different entrances that closed at different time points in the evening snd we got no info on this upon or before our late night arrival. Electricity was out for 10 hours, which happens in Cape Town, but during this time the toilets cannot be used(!) which noone informed about. They hence flooded I guess everywhere and from some rooms even out in the hallway, soaking the thick carpet, so it reaked of sewege for the rest of our stay. Our shower drain was blocked (even when the electricity was working) so water flooded the whole bathroom. We told the staff on 4 separate occasions but nothing happened. It looks nice on the picture but is in less good condition.

When we arrived we were expecting a King or Twin Bed set-up but found a small double, apparently Expedia misrepresent the bed size for a luxury room, so watch out!! Though the property is in a beautiful converted warehouse and is a working concept of hotel and working space, it doesn't fully operate as a functioning hotel. A bit style over substance, open shower into the bedroom (not great when sharing with a friend), sink doesn't have anywhere to put handsoap or toothbrush instead constantly leaning over the toilet!! Difficult to get hold of additional towels, ladies ask way in advance of a shower, also don't be freaked out by the very noisy plumbing system, not just your room but others too!! Location is great for getting to the waterfront and also mooching to the restaurants in the cape quarter. Overall bit style over substance at the moment, if service standards increased would consider heading back as location is a winner. To note be prepared for post 7pm access through back street car park, defo not safe feeling during load shedding!

I recently stayed at this hotel and it wasn’t what I expected. It felt more like an office with more desks than bedrooms, and the constant sound of keyboards gave it an Apple-sponsored vibe. The lack of a proper restaurant (only a coffee shop) was a letdown, especially for a special occasion like my boyfriend’s 50th birthday, as it wasn’t romantic at all. The location was also a downside, with a homeless camp across the street, and the gates being locked at night caused some confusion with our Uber driver. Our room (Room 2) had thin walls, a weird glass partition separating the bathroom, and no blinds, so we had to use the reception area bathroom for privacy. The lighting was poor, and the apartment across the street made it impossible to open the curtains. On the bright side, the staff were lovely, particularly the friendly receptionist and a fantastic deaf waiter at breakfast. The chai latte I had was also the best I’ve ever tasted. Overall, while the staff were great, the hotel’s lack of privacy, awkward layout, and office-like atmosphere made it feel more like a work trip than a relaxing getaway.

Clean and quiet property in old warehouse section close to V&A waterfront area. Not a great view out the front but this place has character and not your average modern hotel layout but shabby chic with a bit of funk. Great breakfasts and Giorgio restaurant downstairs in courtyard for dinner. Reasonably priced for location!

Apart from that good hotel The bed in room 2 is horrendous with the mattress needing changed many years ago. Upon arrival. The receptionist did not say welcome. Just gave me the key and sent a cleaner to show me the room. I have a bad back and asked for the elevator and was told they don’t have it. I asked the cleaner about info and she just left. Went back to the receptionist and said that he neglected to give me information. He told me all I need to know is in writing in the room. I asked him to tell me verbally about wifi and breakfast times. He told me that breakfast is not included. I’m a gold member and my booking clearly said that breakfast was included. The heating did not work properly and the room was freezing. They sent the maintenance guy three times and he was just making it worse. Finally they gave me a small portable heater big enough to heat a small car. Not a presidential room with tall ceilings. I had work to do but the lighting in the room was very dim. The presidential room comes with a bath tub. But I was told by the cleaners not to use it because the water will flood the room. The staff knew I was unhappy and they did not make any attempt whatsoever to apologize or make it up to me. I stay in hotels a lot and this is by far my worst experience. I will not return nor recommend this hotel to anyone.

Summary: They have roaches. I "stayed" in 2 different rooms due to plumbing issues. Cons: 1. Saw 7 roaches during my stay. I have a video where I captured 2 under wine glasses. Had to unpack my suitcases in the garage when I got home so I didn’t infest my home with roaches. Couldn't make use of the kitchen or eat in my room for fear of attracting more roaches. 2. Bathtubs are gorgeous but dont function. Bathtub in 1st room was clogged and 2nd room was leaking. 3. Because plumbing is connected, the shower in my 1st room didn't drain properly. Shower in 2nd room drained fine. 4. Small homeless encampment outside the hotel gate so the gate is closed at night. Alternate entrance is used after 7pm. Pros: 1. Decor is nice. Rooms look like pictures but couldn't appreciate it over fear of roaches. FYI - rooms are in a co-working building which didnt bother me at all but might some. 2. Location is central. Trevligt hotell med gångpromenad till Waterfront. Bra frukost som man fick beställa i cafét i samma byggnad. Sköna sängar. Lite högljudda toaletter samt några obehöriga kryp inne på toaletten. Något krångligt att ta sig in kvällstid då grindar var låsta och man behövde gå genom ett garage och det inte fanns lampor vid entré och parkering. Också lite otäckt med uteliggare precis utanför, framförallt kvällstid. Men totalt sett ett bra hotell!

We came for our honeymoon and had an amazing time. We expected the “presidential” room to be much better than it was. The floors have horrible water damage and you have to leave the windows open at night to escape the smell of mold. The property did not have all of the amenities it listed, such as the golf. And you had to ask for new towels if you wanted them. The staff was nice and it was a 15 min walk to the v and a. Just hoped this would be a nice facility than it was.

Quarto estava sem limpeza do lixo do banheiro, com cheiro forte. Enviamos mensagem e nao fomos atendidos, colocamos o lixo no corredor e mesmo assim nao tivemos a prestação de serviços e a atenção e também nao devolveram o lixo ao banheiro. O local é legal, diferente e bem decorado, mas a experiência com o lixo existente no checkin e durante nao foi legal.
Quarto estava sem limpeza do lixo do banheiro, com cheiro forte. Enviamos mensagem e nao fomos atendidos, colocamos o lixo no corredor e mesmo assim nao tivemos a prestação de serviços e a atenção e também nao devolveram o lixo ao banheiro. O local é legal, diferente e bem decorado, mas a experiência com o lixo existente no checkin e durante nao foi legal.

This place was quite the pleasant surprise! Nestled just on the edge of the wharf district, the Old Foundry hotel was clean and welcoming with just a touch of a modern, yet 1930’s feel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the walk-in rain shower was amazing. But the best part of this hotel is the staff and the cafe. The staff waited on us hand and foot, and even remembered our breakfast orders from the previous days. Anything we needed and they were on top of it immediately. As for the cafe, the food was incredible. We were especially fans of the French toast and the BLT, both of which were probably the best we’ve ever had. You won’t regret picking the place. A quick 10 minute walk to the water front, or about $4 USD Uber ride.

In an old warehouse area, completely renovated and close walk to waterfront. Rooms are clean comfortable large and nicely decorated with stylish old furniture. Bathrooms and showers and modern and great! Not a great view from the front but that’s ok!

Enjoyed the daily breakfast and walking to the V&A only took 10-15 minutes so very convenient. Hotel was clean and spacious. One thing to mention was you can hear water pipes when showering which did not bother us one bit.

Bathtubs are gorgeous but dont function. Bathtub in 1st room was clogged and 2nd room was leaking. 3. Because plumbing is connected, the shower in my 1st room didn't drain properly. Shower in 2nd room drained fine. 4. Small homeless encampment outside the hotel gate so the gate is closed at night. Alternate entrance is used after 7pm. Pros: 1. Decor is nice. Rooms look like pictures but couldn't appreciate it over fear of roaches. FYI - rooms are in a co-working building which didnt bother me at all but might some. 2. Location is central. Safe to walk alone during the day. Uber is cheap so ride at night if you are alone. I would spend my money elsewhere.

Had to unpack my suitcases in the garage when I got home so I didn’t infest my home with roaches. Couldn't make use of the kitchen or eat in my room for fear of attracting more roaches. 2. The rooms were nicely decorated but the walls are paper thin we could hear the actual conversation in room 2 next to us. There was a quirky light hanging above the table that we hunted high and low for the switch to turn off only to text the WhatsApp to find it was hiding behind the huge ass tv!

The staff at check out where great. Yet they had me up stairs after confirming with them for 3 months that I will not be set up in a room that required me to climb steps. They change me to another room but the room was not what I thought I was going to have at the end. The bathroom was small and I had to crawl to the shower since it was not accessible. It was a hard stay for me.

In an old warehouse area, completely renovated and close walk to waterfront. Rooms are clean comfortable large and nicely decorated with stylish old furniture. Bathrooms and showers and modern and great! Not a great view from the front but that’s ok!

So good I will probably return. The only thing that failed is there is nothing in the bathroom to leave your things on. Had to use the table in the room instead.

I recently stayed at this hotel and it wasn’t what I expected. It felt more like an office with more desks than bedrooms, and the constant sound of keyboards gave it an Apple-sponsored vibe. The lack of a proper restaurant (only a coffee shop) was a letdown, especially for a special occasion like my boyfriend’s 50th birthday, as it wasn’t romantic at all. The location was also a downside, with a homeless camp across the street, and the gates being locked at night caused some confusion with our Uber driver. Our room (Room 2) had thin walls, a weird glass partition separating the bathroom, and no blinds, so we had to use the reception area bathroom for privacy. The lighting was poor, and the apartment across the street made it impossible to open the curtains. On the bright side, the staff were lovely, particularly the friendly receptionist and a fantastic deaf waiter at breakfast. The chai latte I had was also the best I’ve ever tasted. Overall, while the staff were great, the hotel’s lack of privacy, awkward layout, and office-like atmosphere made it feel more like a work trip than a relaxing getaway.

Apart from that good hotel The bed in room 2 is horrendous with the mattress needing changed many years ago. Upon arrival. The receptionist did not say welcome. Just gave me the key and sent a cleaner to show me the room. I have a bad back and asked for the elevator and was told they don’t have it. I asked the cleaner about info and she just left. Went back to the receptionist and said that he neglected to give me information. He told me all I need to know is in writing in the room. I asked him to tell me verbally about wifi and breakfast times. He told me that breakfast is not included. I’m a gold member and my booking clearly said that breakfast was included. The heating did not work properly and the room was freezing. They sent the maintenance guy three times and he was just making it worse. Finally they gave me a small portable heater big enough to heat a small car. Not a presidential room with tall ceilings. I had work to do but the lighting in the room was very dim. The presidential room comes with a bath tub. But I was told by the cleaners not to use it because the water will flood the room. The staff knew I was unhappy and they did not make any attempt whatsoever to apologize or make it up to me. I stay in hotels a lot and this is by far my worst experience. I will not return nor recommend this hotel to anyone.

This place was quite the pleasant surprise! Nestled just on the edge of the wharf district, the Old Foundry hotel was clean and welcoming with just a touch of a modern, yet 1930’s feel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the walk-in rain shower was amazing. But the best part of this hotel is the staff and the cafe. The staff waited on us hand and foot, and even remembered our breakfast orders from the previous days. Anything we needed and they were on top of it immediately. As for the cafe, the food was incredible. We were especially fans of the French toast and the BLT, both of which were probably the best we’ve ever had. You won’t regret picking the place. A quick 10 minute walk to the water front, or about $4 USD Uber ride.

Beautifully decorated Hotel, very unique modern style. The Team was super helpful with everything. And it's a walking distance to the V&A Waterfront. I will definitely come back again.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel is shared with hot office spaces so different from what you may be used to, but not to the detriment of our stay. Just a little quirky. Good location within walking distance of V&A waterfront although recommended to travel by uber / taxi after dark. Overall a good base for our weeks stay and good value compared to other hotels we had looked at. Lots of security personnel around the area which may make you feel nervous or reassured. We felt quite safe from our experience.

When we arrived we were expecting a King or Twin Bed set-up but found a small double, apparently Expedia misrepresent the bed size for a luxury room, so watch out!! Though the property is in a beautiful converted warehouse and is a working concept of hotel and working space, it doesn't fully operate as a functioning hotel. A bit style over substance, open shower into the bedroom (not great when sharing with a friend), sink doesn't have anywhere to put handsoap or toothbrush instead constantly leaning over the toilet!! Difficult to get hold of additional towels, ladies ask way in advance of a shower, also don't be freaked out by the very noisy plumbing system, not just your room but others too!! Location is great for getting to the waterfront and also mooching to the restaurants in the cape quarter. Overall bit style over substance at the moment, if service standards increased would consider heading back as location is a winner. To note be prepared for post 7pm access through back street car park, defo not safe feeling during load shedding!

Enjoyed the daily breakfast and walking to the V&A only took 10-15 minutes so very convenient. Hotel was clean and spacious. One thing to mention was you can hear water pipes when showering which did not bother us one bit.

Excellent place to stay as a gateway to the waterfront. Lovely spacious room. Extremely friendly staff. It took us 10 minutes to walk to the waterfront and it was safe.
Excellent place to stay as a gateway to the waterfront. Lovely spacious room. Extremely friendly staff. It took us 10 minutes to walk to the waterfront and it was safe.

Något krångligt att ta sig in kvällstid då grindar var låsta och man behövde gå genom ett garage och det inte fanns lampor vid entré och parkering. Också lite otäckt med uteliggare precis utanför, framförallt kvällstid. Men totalt sett ett bra hotell!

This place was quite the pleasant surprise! Nestled just on the edge of the wharf district, the Old Foundry hotel was clean and welcoming with just a touch of a modern, yet 1930’s feel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the walk-in rain shower was amazing. But the best part of this hotel is the staff and the cafe. The staff waited on us hand and foot, and even remembered our breakfast orders from the previous days. Anything we needed and they were on top of it immediately. As for the cafe, the food was incredible. We were especially fans of the French toast and the BLT, both of which were probably the best we’ve ever had. You won’t regret picking the place. A quick 10 minute walk to the water front, or about $4 USD Uber ride.

I recently stayed at this hotel and it wasn’t what I expected. It felt more like an office with more desks than bedrooms, and the constant sound of keyboards gave it an Apple-sponsored vibe. The lack of a proper restaurant (only a coffee shop) was a letdown, especially for a special occasion like my boyfriend’s 50th birthday, as it wasn’t romantic at all. The location was also a downside, with a homeless camp across the street, and the gates being locked at night caused some confusion with our Uber driver. Our room (Room 2) had thin walls, a weird glass partition separating the bathroom, and no blinds, so we had to use the reception area bathroom for privacy. The lighting was poor, and the apartment across the street made it impossible to open the curtains. On the bright side, the staff were lovely, particularly the friendly receptionist and a fantastic deaf waiter at breakfast. The chai latte I had was also the best I’ve ever tasted. Overall, while the staff were great, the hotel’s lack of privacy, awkward layout, and office-like atmosphere made it feel more like a work trip than a relaxing getaway.

Clean and quiet property in old warehouse section close to V&A waterfront area. Not a great view out the front but this place has character and not your average modern hotel layout but shabby chic with a bit of funk. Great breakfasts and Giorgio restaurant downstairs in courtyard for dinner. Reasonably priced for location!

Upon arrival. The receptionist did not say welcome. Just gave me the key and sent a cleaner to show me the room. I have a bad back and asked for the elevator and was told they don’t have it. I asked the cleaner about info and she just left. Went back to the receptionist and said that he neglected to give me information. He told me all I need to know is in writing in the room. I asked him to tell me verbally about wifi and breakfast times. He told me that breakfast is not included. I’m a gold member and my booking clearly said that breakfast was included. The heating did not work properly and the room was freezing. They sent the maintenance guy three times and he was just making it worse. Finally they gave me a small portable heater big enough to heat a small car. Not a presidential room with tall ceilings. I had work to do but the lighting in the room was very dim. The presidential room comes with a bath tub. But I was told by the cleaners not to use it because the water will flood the room. The staff knew I was unhappy and they did not make any attempt whatsoever to apologize or make it up to me. I stay in hotels a lot and this is by far my worst experience. I will not return nor recommend this hotel to anyone.

Beautifully decorated Hotel, very unique modern style. The Team was super helpful with everything. And it's a walking distance to the V&A Waterfront. I will definitely come back again.
