The Crown Inn

I had a couple of problems with the bedroom, mainly with the bathroom. The bathroom was dark and dingy, I can honestly say that I have never been in a bathroom that was so dark. I found it difficult to see the instructions on the shower controls - which way was hot and which way was cold ! I had to guess and wait for the resulting water temperature. I also found it difficult to wet shave in the low lighting. The bedroom had two single wooden beds that were very squeaky every time you moved. The head of the bedroom door came to my chin - it was low to say the least - something not ideal if there was ever an emergency! I wasn’t impressed with the breakfast. Cereal boxes and milk are tucked away in the corner of a tatty room. Once you’ve prepared cereal you have to walk into the adjoining bar to sit and eat. A hot drink is brought to you together with the full English breakfast (squashed on to a small plate) - presentation 4/10 - really not impressive at all. The whole experience was underwhelming for the money.

Excellent clean accommodation with an especially large bathroom and shower. Staff were friendly and obliging. Parking was plentiful in the pub carpark.

The pub itself is quite rundown but the staff are mostly friendly, the room was very comfortable but could of done with a little touch of paint, the food was really good with lots of choice. the staff behind the bar were both very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately what we experienced on our final morning left us both very disappointed, as per the instructions we left out order for our breakfast and the time we required breakfast with the staff the night before, on getting down for breakfast we went and sat down in the bar area as we had done the previous day (we were early as needed phone signal and there was none in room). Whist sitting there we could hear quite clearly the f’ ing and other swearing coming from the kitchen regarding the people in room we were staying in saying how could we just turn up for breakfast, a lady then came and asked us if we had ordered breakfast, on explaining we had and who we ordered with she went back into the kitchen and shared what we had said, the swearing then ramped up even more over the fact that not only had we ordered breakfast we had asked for scrambled egg with it to, after having to sit and listen to the foul language we decided to tell the kitchen that we would no longer bother with breakfast and we left. On leaving there was also a black Labrador in the kitchen which I am sure breaks health and safety rules too.

Lovely rooms in a nice location which are well decorated and set up. Didn't eat or have any breakfast as I left early. Will use again as the couple who came to visit me for a night of fun also loved the discreet entry and exit and free parking.
