The location is great - in a lovely neighborhood surrounded by farms and minutes from groceries, pub with excellent food and everywhere you want to go. The 200 year old cottage has all the modern amenities- yet retains the charm and quaintness of the past. The hosts were lovely - Make sure you read the book the host has put together - it’s full of history of the region and fantastic recommendations for what to do in the area - and we changed our plans once we read it and were so glad We did!! Waiting for us when we checked in was everything we needed for breakfast, snacks, cozy fire, showers, wash …it could not have been more organized and well appointed. Highly recommend!

We stayed here while touring Galway, Adare and the Ring of Kerry by rental car. Cathy’s cottage is a gem - quiet, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and close enough to be central without being in the traffic. We loved staying here. Cathy also equips the cottage with thoughtful amenities like coffee, fresh milk and orange juice, fresh bread and butter, and snacks - meaning you don’t need to go out and find those things on arrival. We really liked the cottage, everything you might need was available, it was clean, and also coffee, tea and fruit and breakfast for the first day! Very nice surprise. Cathy was real nice and the cottage is very close to Galway and Connemara. Also a good place to stay if you want to visit the Aran islands. You definitely need a car though. If we visit Ireland again, this will be a place to return to.

We really enjoyed this cottage and the location. It's location between Galway and Claregalway makes it handy to tour the city, yet Claregalway was convenient for groceries etc. Also the location allowed easy day trips northward to Westport and Kylemore Abby. The cottage is clean, well maintained and had everything we needed including a washer and dryer. We found it exactly as advertised and communication and access arrangements with the owner were fantastic. Really enjoyed our stay ! Dave & Diana Canada

A comfortable and cosy cottage that has been kitted out in a modern style. All the facilities were as we needed, though it was so warm we didn’t try out the wood/peat burner.It’s a great location to explore Galway.Cathy was very welcoming, her pre visit instructions were spot on, and she popped round when we arrived to make sure all was well, that personal touch along with a few supplies was just enough.

We couldn't have imagined a more delightful stay than this charming cottage in Claregalway! From the moment we stepped inside, the warmth and character of the home instantly welcomed us. Every detail—from cozy furnishings to thoughtful touches throughout—made us feel right at home. We were greeted by a toasty peat log fire in the stove. There was even coffee and tea in the cupboard, milk in the fridge, and other tasty morsels that were all much appreciated upon our arrival!The cottage is beautifully maintained and immaculately clean. It offers the perfect blend of comfort and modern amenities. This spacious cottage served as an ideal base for exploring Galway and the surrounding countryside from our own peaceful retreat. Our host was incredibly thoughtful and responsive, making sure we had everything we needed for a memorable stay. Their hospitality showed strongly in all the thoughtful touches to anticipate every need. This includes a detailed notebook with everything you could possibly want to know about the area and nearby attractions and many books on the local landscape.One note to be aware of –if you are traveling with three/four people or plan to use both bedrooms, that is what triggers the “additional guest fee,” which is not very clear on the VRBO website. For us, it was an unexpected 65 euro additional per night.Despite that, if you're seeking genuine Irish charm and a home that truly feels welcoming, this is the place to stay. Highly recommended!!

It's exactly as described. It's in the country but not too far from Galway by taxi. We were easily able to walk a mile to a decent restaurant. Hostess replied immediately to any inquiries. If you don't have a car like us, it's still doable. Taxis are 10 min away. House is spotless and very nicely decorated!

The cottage is perfectly situated about 5 miles outside Galway city in a beautiful little suburb right off the main road. Close to every convenience you’d need—gas, food, etc. The interior is cozy and Cathy left treats around the house to increase the comfort of our stay. The beds are extremely comfortable, and although the owners were nearby working on the farm, we felt we had our privacy. Would def recommend staying here and we’d love to return. one thing to note is there is a farm animal on property so there is a bit of smell at times but we dont mind those kind of things. :)

The Giles Cottage has had guests from all over the world... from Australia to Kenya (and places in between). In just about all cases, each Guest wrote about the hominess of the cottage, as well as all of the love Cathy and her husband have put into this place.Cathy is the consummate host with impeccable communication and even going as far as personally meeting me to assist in reducing and disposing of the ashes in the fireplace. If looking for a place just outside of Galway City Center, this gem should be on the top of your list!

We were working at our Galway office and this was an ideal base. After a long fight from New Zealand we arrived to a beautifully presented cottage, complete with a welcome basket. Close to Claregalway and Galway we couldn't have asked for more. Cathy was a great host, and nothing was a problem. We will be back.
We were working at our Galway office and this was an ideal base. After a long fight from New Zealand we arrived to a beautifully presented cottage, complete with a welcome basket. Close to Claregalway and Galway we couldn't have asked for more. Cathy was a great host, and nothing was a problem. We will be back.

We loved our stay at this cottage. Well decorated, comfortable, quiet after days of exploring. Exceptional communication with the owners and extremely responsive. Clean as well. We appreciated all the attention given to us to make us feel wecolme. Nice touch!

A comfortable and cosy cottage that has been kitted out in a modern style. All the facilities were as we needed, though it was so warm we didn’t try out the wood/peat burner.It’s a great location to explore Galway.Cathy was very welcoming, her pre visit instructions were spot on, and she popped round when we arrived to make sure all was well, that personal touch along with a few supplies was just enough.

Beautifully maintained cottage, exactly as pictured. It has everything you could need during your stay. Perfect location for exploring the West coast and Galway. Close to the racecourse, and plenty of shops and places to eat. Friendly and helpful owners , to make it a wonderful place to stay.

The cottage is perfectly situated about 5 miles outside Galway city in a beautiful little suburb right off the main road. Close to every convenience you’d need—gas, food, etc. The interior is cozy and Cathy left treats around the house to increase the comfort of our stay. The beds are extremely comfortable, and although the owners were nearby working on the farm, we felt we had our privacy. Would def recommend staying here and we’d love to return. one thing to note is there is a farm animal on property so there is a bit of smell at times but we dont mind those kind of things. :)

This cottage is everything that the listing promises! We had a lovely 3 night stay in September. It is a great location for car day trips to the Cliffs and to Connemara. Cathy was so helpful with travel tips and suggestions. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed, well equipped, very clean and so charming!! We were happy to return to this lovely spot each evening. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience, Cathy!

The location is great - in a lovely neighborhood surrounded by farms and minutes from groceries, pub with excellent food and everywhere you want to go. The 200 year old cottage has all the modern amenities- yet retains the charm and quaintness of the past. The hosts were lovely - Make sure you read the book the host has put together - it’s full of history of the region and fantastic recommendations for what to do in the area - and we changed our plans once we read it and were so glad We did!! Waiting for us when we checked in was everything we needed for breakfast, snacks, cozy fire, showers, wash …it could not have been more organized and well appointed. Highly recommend!

The house was immaculate, comfortable, and fit in with the environment perfectly. Martin met us soon after check in to ensure we were comfortable with all the functionalities of the property. The location of the property was also perfect. Access to the south and north was great for our plans. We would recommend it to all. Thank you.

It's exactly as described. It's in the country but not too far from Galway by taxi. We were easily able to walk a mile to a decent restaurant. Hostess replied immediately to any inquiries. If you don't have a car like us, it's still doable. Taxis are 10 min away. House is spotless and very nicely decorated!

The Stay @ Giles Cottage met our expectations, and more. The space is quiet and peaceful, which is very welcomed after a day in the city. Walking distance of the regular bus to Galway, and walking to Claregalway is very possible….No issue recommending this location and what it offers….Thanks Cathy

We really enjoyed this cottage and the location. It's location between Galway and Claregalway makes it handy to tour the city, yet Claregalway was convenient for groceries etc. Also the location allowed easy day trips northward to Westport and Kylemore Abby. The cottage is clean, well maintained and had everything we needed including a washer and dryer. We found it exactly as advertised and communication and access arrangements with the owner were fantastic. Really enjoyed our stay ! Dave & Diana Canada

The cottage was perfect! Great location just outside Galway.The host was great and very responsive! We had a wonderful time staying here and enjoyed Galway and surrounding area, immensely. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this beautiful Irish cottage outside of Galway for two nights and it was the perfect base for exploring the beautiful countryside. The directions were easy to follow and there is plenty of space for parking. We arrived on a blustery chilly day and the owners were kind enough to have a fire roaring in the stove when we got there! The cottage itself is incredibly clean and bright and comfortable. The showers were a delight after a few days on the road! The owners have thought of every detail to ensure a wonderful stay. Communication was easy and quick and the owners gave great recommendations for driving into Galway. Thank you for a memorable visit! We hope to be back!
