This beautiful hotel is only a minute's walk from the river Salzach with its stunning view of the castle and old town. On site car park is a big bonus in a busy city. Boutique style decor is appealing but low staffing levels (help yourself to breakfast, front door closes at 9pm) gave it an odd atmosphere. Frustratingly, holding payment was taken from my bank account on arrival and again on departure. Payment still pending almost two weeks later so my balance is £300 lower than it should be! Will need to contact bank.

We loved it…it was amusing somehow. Great coffee, amazing room…5 minutes to Old Town and the Palace gardens. I’m pretty sure they upgraded us to a larger room. We will be back for sure! The building is historic and beautiful.

The staff was amazing, the hotel has 3 floors and has an elevator, good breakfast (pastries, juice and coffee). Overall it was a very good experience and the location is beautiful. Parking was very easy to find. Something extra I enjoyed a lot was that they have a very nice set of soaps and lotions that they also sell in the hotel.

The room & hotel was most attractively decorated. Very comfortable room. Loved the inside seating area but most particularly loved the outdoor, most welcoming seating area. Rent og ordentlig. Fremsår nesten som nytt. Fint med AC. Parkering i bakgård bør bestille s, men greit med gateparkering også. Frokost er som annonsert: rundstykker med syltetøy. 10 minutter gange til sentrum. Alt i alt meget fornøyd!

Goed gelegen kleiner hotel met een voor hun grootte zeer mooi ontbijtbuffet met kwaliteitsproducten. Het hotel is niet luxueus, maar wel authentiek. Een werkpunt was de vloer van de toiletten beneden die een grondige schrobbeurt nodig had.

Nice Property, waljing distance to majority of all sites. Staff provided excellent service. The breakfast just a roll , jam and coffee. Unfortunately it doesn’t open till 7:30am. It would be nice if they would provide hot water and coffee 24hrs. The reason I gave an average rating is because the housekeeper put our dirty towels on the bed and didn't provide new towels amd put a half of roll of toliet paper on the holder. Worsy housekeeping in all my travels.

Stately, 3-story property centrally located between Hbf & historic Salzburg. Very large, clean & well-maintained room with a balcony as a plus. The only downside was a mix-up of our reservation and room rate, which was resolved amicably with hotel staff. Great stay!

Sehr freundliches Personal, gute Lage für Besuche der Altstadt oder Mirabell-Garten. Kritik: Dusche im Badezimmer war undicht, keine Möglichkeit das Duschtuch ordentlich aufzuhängen. Handtücher müssen nicht täglich gewechselt werden, das ist zwar sehr angenehm aber nicht umweltfreundlich.

Gorgeous building in perfect location! Only one block from the water, 3 min walk to Schloss Mirabell and 15 min or so walk from the main station. Salzburg is incredibly walkable and Villa Carlton is perfectly situated, removed from the main touristy area. Smooth check-in, very friendly and welcoming staff, clean and very spacious room with everything you might need. Loved our stay and will stay there again next time we are in Salzburg. Thank you!

Great location .. 10 minute walk by the river to city centre . Safe and clean neigbourhood. Large room, very clean and with a good size washroom . Very eclectic interiors . Staff is very helpful . Breakfast is very light ..but you are told that at check in . The room does not have any kettle or fridge .. which was a tad dissapointing . Overall we enjoyed our stay cery much .

La salle de déjeuner a aussi été tres appréciée (simple : croissants, petits pains et cafés, mais parfaits pour l'occasion et inclus dans le prix de la chambre). Nous avons également bien aimé la proximité (distance de marche) de la vieille ville, très pratique. La seule chose que j'aurais aimé avoir, c'est une machine à café dans la chambre ou un commune dans le lobby (en dehors des heures de déjeuner), mais on m'a expliqué que c'était pour reduire les déchets (les cups...) et je respecte tout à fait cela car je fais de même chez-moi, je ne peut être contre ;) Dans l'ensemble, un très beau séjour de 2 nuits

Very quiet room at back. Breakfast pastry and hot drink so don’t stay expecting a full hot breakfast. Reception closes at 2000 so you will be given a key for the back which works very well. There is parking too which could be useful although Salzburg is very walkable.

The premier room did not have a bath - there was an IT failure so no other room could be allocated. Three lights were out in the bathroom and only one was replaced. Someone broke a glass in the room and we counted 8 shards of glass. Breakfast was scant - rolls and jam. The coffee was terrible, but that seems to be the case all over Salzburg (an opportunity for a good coffee shop perhaps). The decor was weird - not fascinating, rather off putting rather than zany. The road noise was dreadful all through the night meaning one could not open a window - earplugs are a must. It is not even a main road but there is a junction on the corner.

Disappointing service, especially for a hotel rated 4 stars. I booked a room for my mum and her small dog. We specifically chose Villa Carlton because it claimed to have on-site parking and to be pet-friendly. After a long day of travel, my mum arrived to find no parking available, and the receptionist made no effort to help or suggest alternatives. She was completely left to fend for herself in an unfamiliar city. After searching unsuccessfully for street parking, she asked to park in the hotel’s delivery area just overnight. The receptionist responded with an eye-roll and unwelcoming attitude, and told her to be gone by 7 AM. When my mum asked if she could leave her keys so someone could move the car while she had breakfast (as is common in 4-5 hotels), the answer was just “no.” The hotel building itself is nice but if you’re expecting service to match the stars, you’ll be disappointed.

Terrible check in. The comfort room has an extremely noisy a/c. When I mentioned my concern, the woman at check in turned sour. She claimed all the a/c’s in every room were exactly the same. I asked to see another room (a standard room), and of course the a/c was extremely quiet. Her dishonesty and rudeness are unacceptable. The other woman at morning shift is unfriendly and everything you request such as ice or coffee is a huge inconvenience to her day. Unbelievable, this staff clearly needs a course in customer service. It is so difficult for these women to smile, greet you kindly and treat you by like a valued client. Very tiring to constantly be exposed to their nastiness. Breakfast was awful, the same every morning - rotten apples, unripe pears, stale toast, didn’t try the store bought croissants. This is not a 3 star hotel, barely 1 star - and the hallway smells like cigarettes, they try to camouflage with scented candles, not good. Stay at your own risk!!! They finally agreed to charge us the standard room rate - unbelievable since we stayed in a standard room, since they refused to have the a/c serviced in the more expensive room. So many other really lovely hotels in the area.

Terrible check in. The comfort room has an extremely noisy a/c. When I mentioned my concern, the woman at check in turned sour. She claimed all the a/c’s in every room were exactly the same. I asked to see another room (a standard room), and of course the a/c was extremely quiet. Her dishonesty and rudeness are unacceptable. The other woman at morning shift is unfriendly and everything you request such as ice or coffee is a huge inconvenience to her day. Fantastic hotel with extremely comfortable beds and well maintained rooms. Service was excellent. Easily walkable from the train station and very central for walks to old town, bars/restaurants, and around the river.

This is a quirky hotel in a great location with lovely staff. It a bit unusual with no reception after 7 but provisions are made for arriving guests. The only comment I have is on breakfast perhaps some yogurt and fruit to go with the pastries?

We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff when we checked-in (we were slightly early and they kindly stored our luggage until check-in time). The room was spacious and clean while the hotel was in very close proximity to the old town.

Great location .. 10 minute walk by the river to city centre . Safe and clean neigbourhood. Large room, very clean and with a good size washroom . Very eclectic interiors . Staff is very helpful . Breakfast is very light ..but you are told that at check in . The room does not have any kettle or fridge .. which was a tad dissapointing . Overall we enjoyed our stay cery much .

We loved Hotel Villa Carlton! The space is beautiful and the room was quite large compared to other hotels we stayed at during our trip to Austria. Super close to the river, which makes for a beautiful walk into the old town!

Really great stay. The hotel and staff were excellent. The location was very good for walk from the main train station and also for the centre of Salzburg. The rover is only a stones throw away.

Gorgeous building in perfect location! Only one block from the water, 3 min walk to Schloss Mirabell and 15 min or so walk from the main station. Salzburg is incredibly walkable and Villa Carlton is perfectly situated, removed from the main touristy area. Smooth check-in, very friendly and welcoming staff, clean and very spacious room with everything you might need. Loved our stay and will stay there again next time we are in Salzburg. Thank you!

Nice very spacious room. Helpful staff, good location. Breakfast is disappointing but it’s clear what you get when you book, but it might stop me having a repeat stay. The Artwork is quite something, possibly curated by a teenager, but it kinda adds to the eccentricity of the place.

This was a great stay in many respects. Clean, nice quirky authenticity, awesome outdoor space, friendly staff. But the breakfast. NO! We ended up paying to eat at the Sheridan. Seriously, owners, this quaint lovely place deserves better!

The staff was amazing, the hotel has 3 floors and has an elevator, good breakfast (pastries, juice and coffee). Overall it was a very good experience and the location is beautiful. Parking was very easy to find. Something extra I enjoyed a lot was that they have a very nice set of soaps and lotions that they also sell in the hotel.

La chambre était spacieuse et très confortable. La salle de déjeuner a aussi été tres appréciée (simple : croissants, petits pains et cafés, mais parfaits pour l'occasion et inclus dans le prix de la chambre). Nous avons également bien aimé la proximité (distance de marche) de la vieille ville, très pratique. La seule chose que j'aurais aimé avoir, c'est une machine à café dans la chambre ou un commune dans le lobby (en dehors des heures de déjeuner), mais on m'a expliqué que c'était pour reduire les déchets (les cups...) et je respecte tout à fait cela car je fais de même chez-moi, je ne peut être contre ;) Dans l'ensemble, un très beau séjour de 2 nuits

Very quiet room at back. Breakfast pastry and hot drink so don’t stay expecting a full hot breakfast. Reception closes at 2000 so you will be given a key for the back which works very well. There is parking too which could be useful although Salzburg is very walkable.

Nice Property, waljing distance to majority of all sites. Staff provided excellent service. The breakfast just a roll , jam and coffee. Unfortunately it doesn’t open till 7:30am. It would be nice if they would provide hot water and coffee 24hrs. The reason I gave an average rating is because the housekeeper put our dirty towels on the bed and didn't provide new towels amd put a half of roll of toliet paper on the holder. Worsy housekeeping in all my travels.

My daughter and I absolutely loved this hotel. It’s really well situated, only a ten-minute walk from the station and a bit less to Mirabell Gardens. There are bus, tram and s-bahn stops a few steps from the hotel and guests get a free Guest Mobility Pass for the duration of their stay, which we found really helpful. Our room was fabulous: really big with a separate dressing room/entrance/storage area and bathroom. Comfy bed, excellent shower, desk, TV, sofa, poufs, armchair. All spotlessly clean. After reading several reviews disparaging the breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised to find a properly laid-out breakfast in a beautiful room. It’s not a full continental breakfast, but this is what is on offer: hot drinks (tea/coffee/hot chocolate), fruit juice, croissants, bread rolls (white and brown seeded), butter, jams, two types of herby spreadable cream cheese. Also milk and lactose free. The staff are wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Quiet hotel. After 7, réception closes, and there is no bar or restaurant. There is lovely lobby area for gathering and there are two outside areas with tables and chairs. Genuinely, I cannot fault this hotel, and I heartily recommend it to couples and families with grown up children, like mine. We loved our stay here and will definitely return if we go back to Salzburg.
