I am generally not a very critical reviewer and tend to overlook small issues, as I understand that mistakes can happen. However, I was quite disappointed with the housekeeping standards during this stay. When we first entered the room, I opened the curtains and found a single slipper behind them. I simply assumed that housekeeping had accidentally missed it and did not think too much of it. Unfortunately, that evening, when we were getting ready for bed, I found several very long strands of hair on the bedding. I have very short hair and my wife’s hair is nowhere near that length or colour, so this was quite unpleasant and made me question whether the room, or even the bedding, had been cleaned thoroughly. The following day, after swimming with my child, I discovered that the shower gel bottle was completely empty. I had to rinse off with water and later contact the concierge before it was replenished. On a positive note, the staff were consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful. My concerns are not about their attitude, but rather the housekeeping standards and apparent lack of staffing. Breakfast was fairly ordinary for a five-star hotel, and there appeared to be too few staff. Coffee had to be ordered separately, and omelette orders were also taken at the coffee station. Overall, the staff were lovely, but the cleanliness, room preparation and service organisation fell noticeably short of what I would expect from a five-star hotel.
