Max Brown Hotel Museum Square, part of Sircle Collection

We really enjoyed our stay here. Elevator was out and they offered drink vouchers for inconvenience which was appreciated. Room was small but fit our needs perfectly. Not super sound proof and could hear noise from hall and other units but surrounding area was quiet and we didn't have issues with the little bits of noise we did hear from other hotel occupants. Hotel staff was always very kind and helpful. Property and room were clean and we enjoyed the decor and atmosphere a lot. Easily walkable to museums, restaurants, and multiple transit options. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

The only thing to be aware of about this property, as with many European buildings, is that the stairs are extremely steep. There is an elevator, but some levels still require that you are able to navigate them.

Staff were excellent. Very accommodating and helpful. We also rented bikes from them which was very convenient. Rooms are small but have everything you need and the bed was very comfortable. Would have been nice to have bedside tables and the a/c was difficult to figure out.

Die Bar ist gemütlich und 24 Stunden geöffnet. Das Bett war äußerst bequem, netter Pluspunkt ist der Baskettball-Korb im Zimmer. Das Hotel selbst ist sauber und gemütlich eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war lecker, jedoch nur eine kleine und nicht wechselnde Auswahl. Was für uns leider ein großer Minuspunkt war, war die Hellhörigkeit der Zimmer. Gespräche im Flur, aus der Bar und sogar aus den Nebenzimmern waren sehr gut und deutlich zu verstehen. Auch das eigene Badezimmer ist sehr hellhörig, so dass man ohne große Anstrengung von der Toilette aus Gespräche mit dem Partner führen konnte, die Badezimmertür lässt sich nicht abschließen und hatte auch keine Türklinke. Leider war das Badezimmer etwas in die Jahre gekommen, hier hätten wir uns etwas mehr Sauberkeit gewünscht. Die Zimmer sind verhältnismäßig klein, dies erfährt man jedoch bereits bei der Buchung, so dass man damit rechnen kann. Ausreichende Parkplätze sind vor dem Hotel vorhanden, jedoch sind diese extrem teuer. Insgesamt war unser Eindruck vom Hotel okay und wir wollen noch einmal besonders das tolle und freundliche Personal hervor heben.

Neat hotel just one block away from the museums in one direction and the main tourist shopping area in the other direction. They have rental bicycles on site which is the best way to get around the city. Staff was nice and helpful

Great hotel! Only downside the lift was broken for 3 out of 4 nights and our room was on the top floor and the stairs are STEEP. Otherwise a great stay.

We stayed for 4 nights in the hotel in October. The hotel was easy to get to from Schiphol Airport, with regular Train, Tram and bus links. We ended up catching the 397 bus which was efficient, quick and took us to within a street of the hotel. The hotel itself looked great, with a lovely looking bar and reception area. The staff member who checked us in was friendly and told us everything we needed to know. There is a lift to all floors, however we used the quirky staircase which looks really cool. The room itself is small, but we expected that from our research. It's well appointed with ensuite, comfy bed, tea/coffee machine and a TV. Plenty storage areas for clothing and luggage. The basketball hoop on the wall was quirky and it was fun throwing the ball through the hoop while getting ready. The bed was very comfy, and the curtains and window shutters ensured a very good night's sleep. Handwash, shower gel and shampoo are all supplied and the rainfall shower was powerful and hot. Minor points would be the basketball was a little worn and ripped, and the ensuite placement of the toilet doesn't leave room for maneouvre! This didn't detract from the stay and we really liked the room. The hotel is very well placed for exploring Amsterdam. It is very close to the bars and restaurants at Leidesplein and, of course, the museums. There is loads to do. To summarise, staff and property are excellent, we had a great time, and we will definately return.

Easy to walk to places to eat and shop. Less than 5 minutes away from Van Gogh museum. Room was nice with a tub and separate shower and room was nicely decorated. Breakfast had a nice spread of different choices. Would definitely stay again. Only negative was the steps to get into the place.

It’s worth noting that the images on the site pick the best rooms. Our room wasn’t as nice as the images chosen by the site. t’s worth paying close attention to the description - the loft is a ok size room with a large bed and sofa bed in. It doesn’t leave that much room but is comfortable enough as you would want to be out and about seeing the sights. The bed was very soft which is good or bad depending on your preference. It was very hot whilst we were there and there wasn’t any air conditioning (again check the description as it probably is listed as n/a) but they did offer us two decent fans. Staff very helpful, area is nice and safe, foyer is nice. There is an elevator which is good (and necessary!) We probably would opt to stay a little further out at one of the chain hotels for a similar price in hindsight, mainly so we would have air con!

Room was tiny but cute! The beds were very uncomfortable! Lots of dust bunnies lying around the corners. Location was ideal and close to museums, restaurants and other venues

Ideally located near art museums, beautiful parks and neighbourhood. However, very tired decor in the hallways/lift and dirty floor in room almost cancelled out the fantastic mattress, lovely soap & lotion, and SMEG kettle provided…

Liked the location (very convenient to museums and public transportation), and the staff was very helpful. The beds, though small, were surprisingly comfortable, and the decor was unique and fun. However, there were some issues with the room. There was no AC and we checked in during a heat wave, so a member of the staff graciously put us in a room at the basement level, which was thankfully much cooler. Despite this, the room had issues with humidity and the bathroom walls and shower had patches of mold and mildew, which only got worse during our stay. Leaving the window open and running a fan provided in our room did little to help the issue, and some clothes I washed by hand took several days to dry and our bath/hand towels were always wet. Though not a major issue for us, it's worth noting that the walls are thin and doors slam, so if you get particularly inconsiderate neighbors, it won't be enjoyable. We were also promised that housekeeping would come by every other day to clean things, but they never came, so the bathroom only got worse. Overall, this place was great for its location and helpful staff, but lackluster in cleanliness and housekeeping services. Still, there are many, MANY worse places to stay in Amsterdam (speaking from experience), so as long as you request a room on a higher floor and insist on housekeeping services, you probably will not have the mold issues that the basement level has. Not sure I'd stay here again, but I would stay in the neighborhood.

The area of this hotel is amazing, super safe and located near many shops. The only downside is that the rooms are very small and it’s hard to move around. Also, although we were told that the rooms are cleaned every other day, our room wasn’t cleaned and our stay was for a total of 3 nights.

Vi hadde et bra opphold. Som alle andre hotell i Amsterdam så er rommene knøttsmå. Men hver centimeter var nøye gjennomtenkt og badet var av grei størrelse. Beliggenheten er perfekt for å besøke museene i byen. Litt trekk for at det er ganske lytt mellom rommene og at de ikke tilbyr daglig rengjøring. Mtp fire stjerner og prisen synes jeg det blir gjerrig. Ville bodd her igjen hvis jeg skal besøke museene igjen.

The toilet in our room was right up against a wall; luckily my spouse & I are short, because I truly do not know how anyone over 5' 8" could sit comfortably on the toilet without having their knees crushed up against the wall in front of them. Might have just been a one off in the room we stayed in but it was a nuisance even for those of us with short stature. The front desk staff were all super nice and happily held our bags after we checked out and before we got on our evening train. Would stay here again for a short trip, not a long one.

The room was very dusty, it had not been cleaned well. It really needs a deep clean. They moved us to another room which was acceptable, but not great. We ended up buying some wipes and bleach and cleaning the room ourselves. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip, so not exactly what we wanted to be doing. I could not recommend this hotel, given the price. Location is good, but there are other options for a similar or lower price.

Súper dirty hotel.

The hotel is in a great spot and I have stayed before. I booked the small room as on my own. I travel constantly and this room was just too small so I checked out after 2 nights

A triumph of form over function. Very impractical, silly hotel. One tiny opening window with no AC, upper floor room was a sauna.

The most comfortable beds! Small double rooms with a tiny bathroom but a window and a kettle, fan, towels. Clean, luggage storage for before check in if you’re in early. around the block from the Museumplein tram station.

Paper thin walls, it's like next door are in the room with you! A shame really as the staff were very pleasant and the location is perfect. Sadly won't be staying again, but if they fixed the noise issues it would be an obvious choice.

Nice property but no ac

We stayed in a standars double room. I t was possibly the smallest hotel room I ever stayed in. It was very hard for two people to move without bumping into each other. Bathroom was miniscule. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, but thw person sleeping on the inside had to crawl over the other person to get in and out.

Rooms are very tiny

The hotel location is good and the bed comfy. However most of the rooms do NOT have AC so staying here in the summer months is a nightmare if you want to get some sleep. They don’t advertise AC so that’s my bad for not checking. Some of the rooms on the 4th floor DO have AC but they couldn’t move me when I rang reception. I stayed here mid week when the weather was 29 degrees and got 4-5h sleep both nights. Not ideal when you’re in business meetings all day. I would recommend it in winter months but NOT in the summer. At £180 a night for mid week I expected this to be a given. My fault! Don’t make my mistake!

As a frequent traveler to Amsterdam, I can confidently say I’ll never stay at a Max Brown hotel again. While the beds were comfortable and the views nice, the negatives far outweighed the positives. Check-in was a nightmare — rude and unhelpful staff, and no notice of construction that woke us at 7 AM with drilling and hammering. The buildings have extremely steep stairs, making them impossible for anyone with bags or mobility issues. Locations are less convenient than advertised, and our room reeked of cigarette smoke because staff members were smoking at the entrance. Rooms also had stale air and little charm. Max Brown hotels could be lovely, but the lack of service, transparency, and comfort makes them a hard no for me.

I absolutely love this hotel, especially for quick trips to Amsterdam. This is my second time staying at this hotel and I’m so happy with my experience. Bed is comfortable, room has everything that you need (love the fan) and the staff is every friendly. Love the breakfast options too, the area around the hotel is perfect as well. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Staff is rude and room type was not what was booked and paid for ! Room wasn’t ready until 5PM

The staff were exceptional! We had a medical emergency while staying there and they helped phenomenally with the situation.

Good location around museum area. Poor sound proof and hotel management. Not worth for USD$300+ per night. Not expect 4~5 stars hotel but definitely not hostel quality. Understand its an old building, the soundproof between each floor might not be perfect. But actually, the sound is mostly come from the room between you. The thin compartment plywood cannot help, you can clearly hear people whisper and snoring next to your room. The night shift manager does not do their job well. People came back from party 2AM, Yelling can slam their room door, even smoking in their room. Called twice, but did not improve until 4 AM in the early morning. Totally ruining my next day schedule. Again, paying USD$ 300+ not expect luxury 4~5 stars hotel. But at least can have a good night sleep for tomorrow tourist schedule. Hotel is over compartment to have as much room as possible. If you lucky to have the brick wall, the sound proof might be a bit better than the wood all.

Can’t fault this hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were made or feel very welcome. The staff, room, breakfast and location were all fantastic. Really good value. Highly recommend this hotel.

The location is Max Brown is great, especially for museums. The rooms were clean and the staff is incredible.

Centrally located, we were able to walk every where

Location is amazing, 2 minute walk to the tram, 7 minute walk to Leidseplein. A very quiet street and staff were amazing, always so helpful. I was travelling with my 2 daughters 20 and 18, we always felt safe. Would definitely return to this hotel. Highly recommend.

Excellent location near major museums, within the canal ring in central Amsterdam and walking distance to most attractions. Steps from the airport express bus.

Proximity to main destinations. Conveniency. Other than that, hotel rooms are what you pay for. Tiny, but charming. Hôtel is situated in a very calm and cute residential neighborhood, away from the noise. Yet, the tram stop is only 5 minutes away. In terms of hotel service, nothing stood out: normal. Pointing out our room was not cleaned or tidied up after day one. Just the towels were changed. Not even the cups for the tea or coffee. Otherwise, good experience.

Kahvaltı klasik Avrupa standartlarında. Çalışanlar çok ilgili ve nazik. Konum Van gogh, Rijksmuseum ve kaliteli mağazaların olduğu bölgede. Ulaşım çok rahat. Sıklıkla Gvb kullanarak her yere gidebiliyorsunuz.

The location is amazing, the staff is rally nice, breakfast is very good and I enjoyed a lot staying there.

The place itself is cozy and nice. The staff was quite inexperienced: we asked about where to park our car and they sent us to the most expensive place possible. Also didnt know basic things about where to pay a public parking. Also made quite a few errors while staying, like not taking us into account for breakfast when we had asked them to, etc etc. They were nice but inexperienced. This hotel doesn’t change/clean rooms everyday, just every 2 days, which wasn’t good for us as we had a baby. Also the room walls are too thin and we could hear neighbours at night talking loud. We were trying to rest and keep the baby asleep and it wasn’t easy. The shower water was warm but NOT hot, which also wasn’t nice. The breakfast for 13 euro was great and the location is very walkable to all the museums and everywhere in central Amsterdam.

A vista do quarto é incrível. Estava nevando e o quarto estava quentinho. O chuveiro é excelente. Travesseiros e roupas de cama muito confortáveis. Tudo limpinho. Café da manhã excelente com bastante variedades.

Staff was nice but the room was very small for a double room and the breakfast was basic and the same everyday which was difficult for a week long stay. Also for the price the building and the rooms need an upgrade.

The hotel is in a great location. Both walkable and close to transit. The breakfast was also delicious!

L’hôtel est globalement agréable, dans un style retro, et idéalement situé pour un séjour de découverte de la ville. Le personnel est convivial. En revanche, ma chambre (double standard) était assez petite et d’équipement sommaire, très peu de prises électriques (on doit choisir entre la lampe ou le ventilateur ou la recharge du téléphone LOL) et espace bureau peu adapté si on doit travailler . La salle de bain était propre mais très exiguë, faut avoir la taille mannequin. Bouilloire dans la chambre mais pas de café :-) Petit déjeuner varié et agréable mais moins fourni que beaucoup d’établissements de la même gamme de prix. Globalement un endroit à recommander mais quelques points à améliorer ou alors il faut taper da s les chambres supérieures.
