Advertised the pool in photos as something it really wasn't. Had a big bit of ugly plywood over the big end window, where they had had a spa. Pool was dirty and whole area was unkept. Disappointing as we book places for the pool

Pool was advertised as a main part of staying there. But it was unusable. The parking was chaotic. Having R/Arthritis etc. we need our car parked outside our door not having to choose a spot from any of the 30 odd parks. The staff were very helpful.

The staff were very friendly & helpful. The room was nice and clean. Not enough soap, toilet paper, shampoo etc provided for 4 of us, lucky we brought our own. Shame the spa is out of order but the pool was lovely.

Found the room very dated. Bathroom facility had to step into bath to have a shower. Appliances all old. Could do with some love. Pool facility poor. All pool furniture rusty.

Bathroom was very bright and clean although the basin had a crack in it and the water pressure was very poor. Comfortable bed but one bedside lamp was out. Fridge was an excellent size for self-caterers but no cutlery or plates, probably because they have a restaurant on site. Competition for parking spaces because of two-storey layout. Woken up by tradies with diesel utes setting out at 6.45. Good value and an indoor pool is an added feature.

Close to Sovereign hill convenient. Rooms ok but bathrooms very substandard in need of reno and very cold no heating in the bathrooms dingy lighting etc the heated pool was barely heated, children freezing while swimming had to leave after five minutes. Would not use again was quite expensive .

No warning that motel reception was closing at 4pm when we booked the day prior. Received a phone call saying that it would be unmanned. Room appeared clean but found trimmed toe nails on the carpet. Quilt was stained. Bathroom tiles particularly around edges were not clean. Every table/bench was damaged, had holes or was stained. Towels were stained and extremely frayed. Bathroom mirror light did not work. Extremely old built-in clock radio flashed non-stop and couldn’t be altered or turned off. How do others sleep with this? Single bed needs to be replaced. No breakfast available. Maybe our room was not the norm for this motel and I’m extremely surprised by other reviews. This room needs serious maintenance and much better cleaning.

Maybe the cleanest motel I've ever seen, the housekeeping staff here must be obsessive about it. I was upgraded on arrival to an upstairs room which ended up being excellent value so I can't speak for the entry level rooms. Really quite a nicely appointed room, very spacious and more like a villa with separate bathroom, and very quiet off the main road. The only downside for my personal taste is this annoying trend for hotels to think the softest cushiony-est pillow top mattress is always the best. Let me stress it is absolutely not. A tender back needs firm support. The safest option is always right in the middle. Medium. I would love to come back but unfortunately I couldn't sleep on what was probably an expensive brand new bed. But those who prefer this will be very happy.

Perfect for where we needed to stay. The room was very clean, comfortable and well-appointed, but it was a little dated - definitely needed a new toilet seat. Lovely staff. Check-in and check-out were very easy. We felt very welcomed.

Bed was comfy bathroom so so had to keep heater on all 5he time or got to cold give you wifi tv but so slow 3verything kept stopping and starting clock couldn’t be changed so it was on right time and it flashed all the time

A bit run down and old, but clean enough. Staff were very nice, easy to find and check in/checkout. Installed new Smart TVs the day we arrived. If you're just looking for somewhere to sleep for the night its perfect.

The internet service drops out frequently .we, so I went to sleep instead of "watching" YouTube without 'buffering due to slow connection" because of the windy weather during the night. The hot water service in the shower sure did take almost 5 minutes to warm up; to maintain heat the taps were extremely difficult. The taps seemed very touchy and sensitive Other than those very small issues I was totally satisfied and grateful, the room was nicely set out. The added bonus was there was actually a small/medium-size bathtub in the "bathroom". WINNING, Thanks for the easy check-in process, clean and maintained room.

When we arrived to check in around 2.30 there was no on at the reception. Once we got the key we found out our room was not cleaned. The previous guests sheets were all over the place. I wasn’t sure if the bed sheets were even replaced. We had to wait for 15 min to get the room done. They left only less 1/4 toilet roll for 5 of us who stayed for 3 days. Loud construction noise was not stop until around 10.30pm and the beds maybe old bed so loose firmness. This motel was the cheapest so I guess it is what it is. Very handy if you want to go to sovereign hill and city centre. Despite all of that i would not mind to come back for short trip.

We were unable to stay at the hotel due to emergency hospital attendance which letter was presented as evidence - hotel did not offer refund or defer the stay. We understand the booking was non refundable however some considerstion would have been appreciated. Do not stay here, very angry

Check was friendly quick and easy staff were polite, welcoming and said if there was anyway could help in regardes attractions to please come and ask. The room was well appointed and clean having all the basics required. Great location easy walk to get supplies. We will stay there again. Granddaughter loved the indoor pool.

I booked a room at the Main Lead Ballarat Motel because I am renovating a house in a near by town and needed somewhere to stay overnight for a few days. The staff were delightful and offered me an upgrade to a much bigger room at no charge. The facilities are clean and pleasant. The indoor pool is great.

They have been incredibly flexible and understanding when i had to stay longer, waited for me to get back before they finished to re activate my key and I came back to a restocked clean room. You guys are awesome!! Thank you!

Convenient location to sovereign hill and close to Red Lion restaurant which also serves breakfast The cost was very reasonable, the beds were extremely comfortable in a good sized room and the shower had a great pressure with very hot water . I would stay again without any hesitation

No warning that motel reception was closing at 4pm when we booked the day prior. Received a phone call saying that it would be unmanned. Room appeared clean but found trimmed toe nails on the carpet. Quilt was stained. Bathroom tiles particularly around edges were not clean. Every table/bench was damaged, had holes or was stained. Towels were stained and extremely frayed. Bathroom mirror light did not work. Extremely old built-in clock radio flashed non-stop and couldn’t be altered or turned off. How do others sleep with this? Single bed needs to be replaced. No breakfast available. Maybe our room was not the norm for this motel and I’m extremely surprised by other reviews. This room needs serious maintenance and much better cleaning.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. I could prepare my own meals (as the microwave and toaster was provided) however no plates or cutlery were provided, only cups,saucers and tea spoons. Also I would suggest to number the car parks, as I lost mine when I went out for the day. It would also make it easier for the cleaning staff to know if the person has checked out. Otherwise I really enjoyed my trip and the upgrade, thank you King, I will definitely be back.

Staff were friendly and room was clean but lacking basic items. There was a toaster and kettle but no plates or cutlery apart from teaspoons. We asked the room next door to borrow some things so we could have breakfast as reception was unattended. Also be aware that there is a shower/bath combo but baths are a no-go as no plug is provided. We asked staff and were told 'shower only'. Okay for the price but in hindsight we would have paid an extra $20 to stay elsewhere.

Not bad. Negative points :- 1. Extra cup and cutlery would have helped. There were three of us. 2. Some desert bowls would have helped; we routinely have quick oats for breakfast 3. A kettle would have helped.

We had a stop over as a family and the family room accommodated our needs quite well. The beds were comfortable and the location was great for walking to dinner and close to Sovereign Hill.

On arrival we were greeted in a nice fashion. The grass around the hotel was a foot long & even had old shopping trolleys laying around. Our room had a musky smell & the room needed some money spending on it to get up to a reasonable standard. The heated pool was supposed to be heated to 28 degrees but was just warm. The reason why we chose to stay at this hotel was the heated pool. We were so disappointed that the pool was not kept clean & was not heated as I was told when I enquired about the hotel. We will never stay there again, & I would suggest that hotels.com do not advertise this hotel for bookings, as it gives you also a bad name.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO DUST Room appeared clean enough on the surface, comfy ish bed how ever, room was full of dust to the point that I'm now on antibiotics for sinusitis and steroids for an asthma flare up. Staff (the 1 we saw) was friendly and helpful, made sure we had clean towels. The pool is not heated to 28 as advised, and has a 'lovely' layer of green on the ground. While the rooms are non smoking there are tables set up outside the rooms so good luck if your neighbor smokes. Quiet location, convenient to everything with clean bathrooms just needs a total overhaul and update of the bedrooms.
