The rooms were very comfortable and clean but i feel the landings and the stairs could do with updating. Carpets look old and worn and carpets are not the most hygienic. The pools were cold and the areas around the changing rooms could have been cleaner. Also more lockers are needed in the sister hotel for users of Sauna and indoor swimming pool. Also was not too happy that we had to pay more for the car park particularly when the space is not guaranteed. I felt like once i found a parking spot i could not take my car out again as i would not have been able to get a parking space upon return. Overall we were happy with our stay it was a great location. The customer service was good. If they can improve on the issues mentioned above it would be great

Great 2 day break. Dinner and breakfast was great as was the staff. Only downside was the leisure facilities were in the next door hotel and as it was cold and wet not easy to get to.

I was looking for a hotel with an indoor swimming pool, a room with a sea view, close to the city centre and within 130£. And I found the Cumberland. The indoor swimming pool is in the hotel next door ( Suncliff). The staff and the management were brilliant. Always helpful and friendly at all stages. The breakfast starts at 7 am and was quite comfortable. The restaurant and the bar are very cosy. The only negative part is that the walls between rooms are very thin but… the clientele was good enough to be quiet after 10 pm. So I had no trouble. If you book direct, you get a free car park.

Old facade, but rooms have been refurbished to a good standard. The rest of the interior has retained some of its 1920's charm. Staff are helpful and hotel is well positioned with wonderful sea views. Beware that if you book through Expedia parking at the hotel is not free. I would in future book direct as the hotel will match the Expedia price and you can take advantage of the free parking which saves £12 a day.

We had a good stay here. Staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. Everything was very efficient. No queues for check-in or breakfast and dinner service very good. Our only criticism would be that the decor was tired and our room, although comfortable, wasn’t very modern. The hotel could do with a refurbishment. Sound proofing could also be better. We were on the first floor and could hear loud music from downstairs in the evening until past 10pm. Indoor pool was in hotel next door (chlorine in air was very strong and made my eyes sting even as a spectator), outdoor pool was pretty chilly to stay in for too long.

Nice hotel in good location. Staff are really excellent. Cocktails amazing. Lift very small but functional. Car park tiny but can share adjacent hotels facilities. Would definitely return there.

The pool is lovely, but the lack of parasols an issue. Pillows were very hard, so I slept badly. The room that I thought I’d chosen on the Expedia website was not the one that I got given. You advertise a sea view. Please be more honest. as I had a wall view- but at least the room was quiet!!

Wonderful Family Stay – Highly Recommend! We had a fantastic two-night family break at the Cumberland Hotel. We booked a family room with a king-size bed and bunk beds, and used Tesco Clubcard points which was a great bonus. We arrived just before check-in, easily found parking, and were warmly welcomed. Although our room wasn’t quite ready, we were invited to use the outdoor pool – a real treat on a sunny day! The pool was clean, well-staffed, and perfect for families. Huge thanks to Ali and Sophia, who looked after us for the whole trip with big smiles and great service. Our sea-view family room was spacious, spotless, and freshly decorated. The view from the balcony was stunning, and the in-room fridge was a brilliant touch for families. The bathroom was modern, though the shower pressure could be improved. Breakfast was another highlight. The buffet was hot, fresh, and constantly topped up. Franck, (age 82 was a gem) who served us, was an absolute star – even warming pancakes for our girls! The Friday night fireworks was amazing! A great bonus: guests can use facilities at other Oceana hotels. We enjoyed both outdoor pools and even used the indoor pool next door. Classic, friendly service like this is rare – every member of staff was lovely, a real credit to the team. We had a brilliant holiday and can’t wait to return!

Air conditioning is amazing beds very comfortable but had to check out on the 2nd night at 11pm due to the noise level from a function on & we were right above it! So really spoiled it, no rooms to change was offered! Not good when you have an autistic child with you and had to drive home which was a 3hour drive!

I stay in Hotel Cumberland from 08.08.2024 - 11.08.2024. I enjoyed nice weekend near seaside. Like every year. I take single room 103. Room was nice and tidy Very clean. I enjoyed breakfast and dinner. I have nice time in Bournemouth seaside. Like every year. Thanks for nice relaxing time in Hotel Cumberland.

A filthy, old hotel run by people who clearly show what they think of their customers by the experience they provide. Worst hotel experience of our lives. On arrival, we asked if we could get free parking, as we had booked several expensive rooms for two nights. The reception manager, extremely unpleasantly then greeted us and told us that her job is to make as much money as possible and as we booked our rooms several months ago, she thinks we did not pay enough and she could sell the rooms for double what we payed, so no free parking, £12 per night for us. Thanks. Everything is filthy, old and tired. Here is what you DONT GET - so be prepared. - No safe in the room - No water in the room - No fridge in the room - No soap in the shower - Water pressure too low to use the shower - One rusty iron and board PER FLOOR that spits out brown gunk - No MIRROR in the room, other than a tiny thing above the desk - A broken old hairdryer - Windows full of condensation and mould - Flat battered old pillows - Screaming, doors slamming and babies crying with a smell of weed throughout the night (ZERO SOUNDPROOFING) A once was something slightly special hotel many years ago before budget airlines took people to Spain milking its 70 year old reputation by providing a sub standard experience to its unsuspecting paying guests. Not a 2 star hotel let alone a 4 star. Reporting them to every authority, the owners should be ashamed of themselves.

This hotel has the potential to be great due to its location and views however it is in need of exterior (e.g painting) and interior attention to detail. Examples inside include tape on areas of carpet in the hallways, public sofas with split cushions and down at heal furniture on the balconies. The decor was somewhat outdated in parts. The room and bathroom were fine. Parking is difficult and is charged extra at £12 per day when booking through Expedia which we didn’t know in advance. We paid for a superior room with a balcony and sea view. The room itself was nice however there was considerable noise from the hall and neighbouring rooms making for a disrupted stay. The sea view was impressive, the balcony was very large but with tatty furniture and little privacy which was disappointing. We didn’t eat at the hotel choosing to walk down to the nearby beach restaurant which we enjoyed. We understand some of the facilities were in the next door hotel which was not explained to us on arrival. Overall a disappointment.

I was given a room right by the lift which meant noise was ongoing as there would be a double ding sound each time it reached a floor, and a beep sound each time someone pressed the button for a lift. The towels provided in the room had a nasty stain which put me off using it. The lift is super tiny and can only fit 3 people max, and you sometimes have to wait a while until it arrives and providing there is space. I would have taken the stairs but had heavy luggage. On the morning of checking out i received an invoice through my room door for my stay even though i already payed everything in advance, and when checking in it was confirmed that everything was payed for. I called reception who said i should not have received the invoice and were apologetic. At check in i had to provide a card in case of damages etc. The hotel took 1p out of my account. I know 1p is not a lot but surely money should only be taken if there is a need? Or perhaps to was to check that it was an active card with money. Overall what made the experience bad was the location of my room being next to a lift so noise was ongoing as there were people coming back very late, and the early risers. In terms of facilities you can use the indoor pool , sauna and mini gym at the sister hotel next door. You would have to ask for a towel from your hotel though. The changing room had lockers which were out of use so leave your belongings at your own risk in the locker as they do not lock.

The staff at the reception and managers are great, they let down by a hotel that is great need of updating and general maintenance. Carpets with holes, wallpapers peeling and general demeanour is old and worn need of lots of attention. Room we had was a little compact. Bedding, pillows, curtains and carpet are just on edge of acceptable - and seemed needing replacement.

The beds were comfortable but the decoration was tatty, the bathroom definitely needs to be updated. There was a wedding on and the whole room was vibrating until 1am and then we were kept awake by chairs being moved/cleaning being done below us. We were charged full price for parking despite not being able to use the car park when we returned to the hotel in the evening.

Nice location overlooking the sea. Enjoyed a nice two course dinner and staff were very friendly. Would have given 5 stars if it hadn’t been so noisy, I could hear the guests next door talking and people walking about in the room above. Other than that it was fine

The single room dubbed the crash pad is awful and well below par of the standard expected. AA inspector would downgrade this hotel. It is not 4 star, the Qataris need to put money into this hotel as it is looking dated inside. Staff are lovely and were apologetic for not being able to upgrade my room. Rusty windows toilet close to wall hitting your knees against the wall when sitting , leak in shower all over bathroom floor. Noisy extract from bathroom. Uncomfortable and dirty. I will not be returning to this hotel again. I would rather sleep in the car if I had too.

Old facade, but rooms have been refurbished to a good standard. The rest of the interior has retained some of its 1920's charm. Staff are helpful and hotel is well positioned with wonderful sea views. Beware that if you book through Expedia parking at the hotel is not free. I would in future book direct as the hotel will match the Expedia price and you can take advantage of the free parking which saves £12 a day.

This hotel has the potential to be great due to its location and views however it is in need of exterior (e.g painting) and interior attention to detail. Examples inside include tape on areas of carpet in the hallways, public sofas with split cushions and down at heal furniture on the balconies. The decor was somewhat outdated in parts. The room and bathroom were fine. Parking is difficult and is charged extra at £12 per day when booking through Expedia which we didn’t know in advance. We paid for a superior room with a balcony and sea view. The room itself was nice however there was considerable noise from the hall and neighbouring rooms making for a disrupted stay. The sea view was impressive, the balcony was very large but with tatty furniture and little privacy which was disappointing. We didn’t eat at the hotel choosing to walk down to the nearby beach restaurant which we enjoyed. We understand some of the facilities were in the next door hotel which was not explained to us on arrival. Overall a disappointment.

Food excelllent All staff friendly and helpful The hotel has let itself down by having very old beds that should be pensioned off our bed had springs making the bed lumpy and very uncomfortable I was told the hotel was full so could not be moved. Wonderful Family Stay – Highly Recommend! We had a fantastic two-night family break at the Cumberland Hotel. We booked a family room with a king-size bed and bunk beds, and used Tesco Clubcard points which was a great bonus. We arrived just before check-in, easily found parking, and were warmly welcomed. Although our room wasn’t quite ready, we were invited to use the outdoor pool – a real treat on a sunny day! The pool was clean, well-staffed, and perfect for families. Huge thanks to Ali and Sophia, who looked after us for the whole trip with big smiles and great service. Our sea-view family room was spacious, spotless, and freshly decorated. The view from the balcony was stunning, and the in-room fridge was a brilliant touch for families. The bathroom was modern, though the shower pressure could be improved. Breakfast was another highlight. The buffet was hot, fresh, and constantly topped up. Franck, (age 82 was a gem) who served us, was an absolute star – even warming pancakes for our girls! The Friday night fireworks was amazing! A great bonus: guests can use facilities at other Oceana hotels. We enjoyed both outdoor pools and even used the indoor pool next door. Classic, friendly service like this is rare – every member of staff was lovely, a real credit to the team. We had a brilliant holiday and can’t wait to return!

Fantastic location right on the beach. Sea view room worth the extra. Staff were very attentive, wonderfully cheerful & nothing was too much trouble. The room was well equipped, almost too much furniture, & the only criticism was that the mattress needs replacing & was too soft & lumpy. The bathroom was large & well equipped, the small fridge was very useful. Ventana restaurant was superb, delicious food & very good value.

Was not allowed into our hotel till we started to cry cause we was 3 hours away from home. We had id but needed a bank card and then got told there was nothing they could do and to pretty much go away. Till two women from an event that didn’t work there had to help us. Ruined my partners 21st birthday by making her cry. Awful service. Got in the end after crying cause they could use Apple Pay all of a sudden.

A filthy, old hotel run by people who clearly show what they think of their customers by the experience they provide. Worst hotel experience of our lives. On arrival, we asked if we could get free parking, as we had booked several expensive rooms for two nights. The reception manager, extremely unpleasantly then greeted us and told us that her job is to make as much money as possible and as we booked our rooms several months ago, she thinks we did not pay enough and she could sell the rooms for double what we payed, so no free parking, £12 per night for us. Thanks. Everything is filthy, old and tired. Here is what you DONT GET - so be prepared. - No safe in the room - No water in the room - No fridge in the room - No soap in the shower - Water pressure too low to use the shower - One rusty iron and board PER FLOOR that spits out brown gunk - No MIRROR in the room, other than a tiny thing above the desk - A broken old hairdryer - Windows full of condensation and mould - Flat battered old pillows - Screaming, doors slamming and babies crying with a smell of weed throughout the night (ZERO SOUNDPROOFING) A once was something slightly special hotel many years ago before budget airlines took people to Spain milking its 70 year old reputation by providing a sub standard experience to its unsuspecting paying guests. Not a 2 star hotel let alone a 4 star. Reporting them to every authority, the owners should be ashamed of themselves.

The check-in was quick and efficient and the lobby/lounges and bars all looked very good on arrival. The rooms were smaller than we expected and not much space, possibly removing either desk or table as we did not need both, rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming and even arranged a birthday greeting for one of our party, which was very thoughtful and was appreciated. Only thing we were disappointed with was the sofas in the lounge areas were very low and uncomfortable and all of the guests were struggling to get up out of them, other than that we had a very enjoyable stay

We arrived around 5.30PM with a private wedding in full swing at the property - weddings are fine but this one erupted into a full scale fist fight in reception just as I arrived - my girlfriend was terrified and didn’t want to get out of the car. We pulled past reception and waited for the fight to end and when I went in to check in I asked what had happened and the staff just played dumb as if nothing had happened. It was loud in reception and some boisterous men were still there making loads of noise and all the staff were concerned about was taking more money from me. Very unimpressed and if I could have found a room elsewhere I would have - I even left early and only actually stayed one night despite having booked the room for 3 nights - not impressed at all - the reception staff did not care one bit

Our room was comfortable and good value but what really stood out was how good the staff were. Lisa made us feel welcome and gave us some great advice on the facilities and the waiters and managers were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed the outside and inside pools, as well as the sauna during our short stay.

We had a good stay here. Staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. Everything was very efficient. No queues for check-in or breakfast and dinner service very good. Myself and a large amount of family booked to stay as the hotel were also providing services for my mothers post funeral reception. From start to finish everyone we dealt with were exceptional. Professional and sensitive to our situation throughout our stay, managing to accomodate everyone's needs as they came. The reception team, bar and restaurant staff and the guys sorting out the function room were great. Our actual room and those of my family were all very clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant at short notce with no issues and ate in the bar area at various points, with all the food being very good. We have stayed a few times over recent years and always get great service. The location is great and handy for town as well.

On my first night there were no towels in my room. On the website i booked a modern plush looking room. My actual room was nothing like the one shown. The net curtain in my room was ripped. Then came the worst part. The following day i asked where i could get some lunch and was pointed to the restaurant. When I tried to go in i was refused entry despite telling the man that i was staying at the hotel. The restaurant was empty but i was told all tables were pre booked and i could go to the bar instead! No one had told me that i had to make a booking to get some lunch. It was empty and i only wanted something simple. None of the staff or management showed any level of empathy or customer relations skills.i travel round the world staying in some of the best hotels. And sadly i didn't feel made welcome here. Won't be coming back or recommending to my colleagues in the world of show business.

Good location for the beach. 7min walk to where you get down to the beach. Hotel building is old, so rooms could do some renovation. Thin walls, you can hear your next door neighbours, so remember to bring your ear plugs! Outdoor pool is a plus! Food was good. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Easy to walk from the railway station, I enjoyed the cliff top location, 20 minute walk to Bournemouth centre in one direction, Boscombe the other way, Reception staff were very nice, I was given a complimentary room upgrade which was very much appreciated Didnt have breakfast so unable to comment on food I had a very enjoyable stay

Fantastic location right on the beach. Sea view room worth the extra. Staff were very attentive, wonderfully cheerful & nothing was too much trouble. The room was well equipped, almost too much furniture, & the only criticism was that the mattress needs replacing & was too soft & lumpy. The bathroom was large & well equipped, the small fridge was very useful. Ventana restaurant was superb, delicious food & very good value.

This hotel is easy walking distance from the town. We attended a function and the food was good but very disappointed about the wine, ordered a merlot and Shiraz at £25 each and were both undrinkable possibly the worst wines I have ever tasted. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff were fantastic. Water pressure not so fantastic the shower was more of a dribble than a shower.

Have stayed here quite a few times now and as usual the staff were efficient and the food in mirabelle restaurant excellent although a bit less choice at breakfast than previously- ie fresh fruit, yoghurt selection. Stair carpet needs replacing as very worn in places, covered by black tape and lounge furniture tatty although still comfortable. Would happily return though

My partner and I had a fantastic stay at the Cumberland. We were in Bournemouth for a concert and this hotel was ideal as it was close to the venue and had a good location overlooking the bay. Our room was comfortable and good value but what really stood out was how good the staff were. Lisa made us feel welcome and gave us some great advice on the facilities and the waiters and managers were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed the outside and inside pools, as well as the sauna during our short stay.

Very comfortable bed and pillows. Seating in main lounge too low for my mobility but other areas ideal. Seating in Ventana restaurant, too low again. For a four star establishment, bedroom furniture needs updating and lining in my bedroom curtains very badly ripped and needs replacing. Breakfast has superb choice and the one evening meal we had was really lovely. Great bar and choice of drinks. Good staff all round.

We had an excellent family room, a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower, all very clean, all the toiletries we needed, also ample tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits provided. The evening meal for 4 in the Mirabelle restaurant was absolutely delicious, although a little pricey, but worth it. All the staff were very efficient and friendly.I would definitely recommend

Wonderful Family Stay – Highly Recommend! We had a fantastic two-night family break at the Cumberland Hotel. We booked a family room with a king-size bed and bunk beds, and used Tesco Clubcard points which was a great bonus. We arrived just before check-in, easily found parking, and were warmly welcomed. Although our room wasn’t quite ready, we were invited to use the outdoor pool – a real treat on a sunny day! The pool was clean, well-staffed, and perfect for families. Huge thanks to Ali and Sophia, who looked after us for the whole trip with big smiles and great service. Our sea-view family room was spacious, spotless, and freshly decorated. The view from the balcony was stunning, and the in-room fridge was a brilliant touch for families. The bathroom was modern, though the shower pressure could be improved. Breakfast was another highlight. The buffet was hot, fresh, and constantly topped up. Franck, (age 82 was a gem) who served us, was an absolute star – even warming pancakes for our girls! The Friday night fireworks was amazing! A great bonus: guests can use facilities at other Oceana hotels. We enjoyed both outdoor pools and even used the indoor pool next door. Classic, friendly service like this is rare – every member of staff was lovely, a real credit to the team. We had a brilliant holiday and can’t wait to return!

On my first night there were no towels in my room. On the website i booked a modern plush looking room. My actual room was nothing like the one shown. The net curtain in my room was ripped. Then came the worst part. The following day i asked where i could get some lunch and was pointed to the restaurant. When I tried to go in i was refused entry despite telling the man that i was staying at the hotel. The restaurant was empty but i was told all tables were pre booked and i could go to the bar instead! No one had told me that i had to make a booking to get some lunch. It was empty and i only wanted something simple. None of the staff or management showed any level of empathy or customer relations skills.i travel round the world staying in some of the best hotels. And sadly i didn't feel made welcome here. Won't be coming back or recommending to my colleagues in the world of show business.

I booked the hotel for the indoor pool. Sadly the pool is in the hotel next door there were no signs to find it so I had to ask another guest who was also going to use it. It was raining and extremely windy so I wasn’t impressed at having to go outside to get to it. The pool is in a basement & There was a children swimming class being given the instructor was extremely LOUD & it eco to the extent it was uncomfortable The water was COLD and pool roped off so swimming wasn’t pleasant I only stayed in 10 minutes. The changing room didn’t have any bags for my wet swim suit so once the hotel took the towel off me what was I supposed to do my swim suit. My room has the metal extraction running up outside and it was noisy & the smells of food was too much as I couldn’t shut the window as the handle had been locked & no key in the room. The mattress sloped to one side from use of the one side so you find yourself rolling to that side, All 4 pillows were different on the bed. The stair carpet is stuck with tape trying to cover up holes from wear n tear on most floors and some holes not covered at all anyone in heels would need tobe carful. I was on the 3rd floor so saw quite a lot of this.
