The Grey had a lovely feel upon entering, quirky, boutiquey and homely. The hotel is small and unique and the staff are super friendly and helpful. In particular Lukahnyo had amazing customer service, he knew our names from day one and didn't forget them for our whole 5 days. We enjoyed a couple of breakfasts in the cosy dining space which were really nice and being able to enjoy a freshly squeezed OJ won extra points. We had a fantastic evening on the Saturday night at the Piano Bar adjoining the property, Nina and her band were beyond amazing, can highly recommend making a night of it if you can. Lots of amazing eateries and shops within walking distance. My only downside to the property was that it can be a little noisy with guests coming and goings in the night, but I am a light sleeper, so probably more an issue for me than for others.

Staff was polite and beyond amazing. They gave us good advices on the safety of the De Waterkant area (generally safe to walk around at night as there are a lot of security staff stationed around). Since we stayed in winter their Skybar and Pianobar was closed, but they had a breakfast area which served very tasty breakfast. There was also the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village Mall nearby which had a SPAR supermarket which met all our needs. De Waterkant is one of the recommended place to stay in Cape Town if you want to be near the V&A Waterfront and CBD. The room which we stayed (Room 10) was also spacious and had enough room for 2 people. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic location in a beautiful part of Cape Town. Lots of lovely restaurants right on the doorstep. It’s a 12-15 minute walk to the waterfront but it’s easier to just jump in an uber as they are so cheap. We had Room number 3. The terrace is delightful with a view looking onto table mountain. Rooms are a bit on the smaller size but you can store your luggage under the bed. The bed was a bit too hard for our liking but the pillows were nice and soft. We were a bit disappointed that you didn’t get a bottle of free water in room with any of the days. The Sky bar is really cool. Great views again looking onto Table Mountain. All of the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Thank you so much for helping make our first trip to Cape Town a truly memorable experience

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Great location, cute & clean rooms but the staff were our favorite. Everyone was very helpful and Warren set us up with wine on the rooftop in the evenings, which had an amazing view of table mountain. Great spot with a cozy feel. Would definitely recommend

The place is very cute, quaint and clean. Staff were very nice. Not accessible, though, for folks with disabilities. Very small rooms, narrow stairwells and halls. No elevator. You have to be in great physical shape to lug your own bags in and out and actually take the climb to the Skybar area, for the views. I didn’t like that breakfast was à la carte and at additional cost. So I jumped in an Uber and had fancy breakfast 5 minutes away. The bed was very firm. Pillows nice and plush. Shower hot and refreshing. Hand towels. Bath towels. No washcloths or face towels.

Unique boutique hotel, with a central, open air courtyard check in. No elevator but we loved it! Staff were so friendly and accommodating and our room had its own patio. Roof top bar (not open for the season yet while we were there) had lovely views . On a fairly steep hill with narrow cobblestone sidewalks so not really handicapped accessible. Would recommend.

Clean and friendly hotel in a safe neighbourhood. Room was small but stylish and comfortable, with a great balcony enjoying the afternoon sun and views of Table Mountain. Rooftop bar is cool but the drinks menu in the room doesn't match what they actually have and if you have any movement restrictions you will never get up the spiral staircase! Breakfast was very poor so better to eat out, there are several lovely cafes within 2 minutes walk. Also evening eateries very close and safe to walk to. Overall though very good value and I enjoyed my stay.

The hotel is clean, has a nice artsy vibe. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel cannot be better. Most things we wanted to see were 10 to 20mns walking distance, and the neighborhood of the location was beautiful, with plenty of coffee shops, small boutiques and colorful houses.

Location was great. Nice supermarket close by and laundry down the street. Close to port with Uber being cheap. Hotel is quirky with narrow stairs and our room was small but made do for a few nights as area was safe and staff were friendly.

Lovely boutique hotel, nice staff. Great value for money. Nice area. Soft close on the toilet seat would have been nice. Less noise from the ac (not sure if that was causing it). A bit more water pressure in the shower would be great. I was fighting with the hotel room safe, but that could be my stupidity

Great design hotel in De Waterkant area. Huge bed and quiet. Staff was very friendly and this neighbourhood was safe. Next to Cape quarter with restaurants and a big supermarket

I really enjoyed the location and the building was quirky and unique. The room I had was small but plenty enough for me in a city hotel. The staff was very warm and friendly. I'd definitely return.

Clean and friendly hotel in a safe neighbourhood. Room was small but stylish and comfortable, with a great balcony enjoying the afternoon sun and views of Table Mountain. Rooftop bar is cool but the drinks menu in the room doesn't match what they actually have and if you have any movement restrictions you will never get up the spiral staircase! Breakfast was very poor so better to eat out, there are several lovely cafes within 2 minutes walk. Also evening eateries very close and safe to walk to. Overall though very good value and I enjoyed my stay.

Fantastic boutique hotel in the trendy De Waterkant area. 15 mins walk to V&A. Lovely room (4) had fourposter bed and a huge private terrace with Table Mountain view. The staff were beyond helpful and very friendly. Excellent breakfast and great value for money. I highly recommend. I also used the offered shuttle to and from the airport which was safe and reliable. I will be back soon.

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Great location, cute & clean rooms but the staff were our favorite. Everyone was very helpful and Warren set us up with wine on the rooftop in the evenings, which had an amazing view of table mountain. Great spot with a cozy feel. Would definitely recommend

It’s almost impossible to find enough amazing words to describe this hotel experience. The hotel itself is boutique, and everything about it feels so personal and custom. Uniquely designed and attention to every detail. The rooms are full Comfort. And the staff, will let me just say as a world traveler it is a rare pleasure to have so much incredible care and personal service. The property is located with an easy access of all the most important things of Cape Town, surrounded by the most charming mixed commercial residential venue/gallery/restaurants and easy to access Uber for day trips. The rooftop patio has stunning views. Honestly, no need to look anywhere else. This hotel has it all. A special thanks to the manager, and I would like to offer my sincere gratitude and a big hug for you. 💕💕 neighborhood photos included.

Lovely hotel clean modern rooms bed very comfy! Staff all friendly and breakfast was nice. Good location for walking to Long Street and 20 min to V&A waterfront or Uber is very reasonable. Really nice restaurants in Cape Quarter minute walk away, also has good supermarket, Clicks and used Sorbet nail bar all excellent

Fantastic location in a beautiful part of Cape Town. Lots of lovely restaurants right on the doorstep. It’s a 12-15 minute walk to the waterfront but it’s easier to just jump in an uber as they are so cheap. We had Room number 3. The terrace is delightful with a view looking onto table mountain. Rooms are a bit on the smaller size but you can store your luggage under the bed. The bed was a bit too hard for our liking but the pillows were nice and soft. We were a bit disappointed that you didn’t get a bottle of free water in room with any of the days. The Sky bar is really cool. Great views again looking onto Table Mountain. All of the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Thank you so much for helping make our first trip to Cape Town a truly memorable experience

The hotel is clean, has a nice artsy vibe. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel cannot be better. Most things we wanted to see were 10 to 20mns walking distance, and the neighborhood of the location was beautiful, with plenty of coffee shops, small boutiques and colorful houses.

Séjour sans fausse note ! L’hôtel est extrêmement bien situé, possibilité d’aller au Waterfront, le centre ou dans Bo-Kaaba à pied, restaurants tout autour, le personnel est vraiment très très accueillant et la chambre 3 avec la terrasse vue sur la Table Mountain était parfaite. Je recommande vivement !

I really enjoyed the location and the building was quirky and unique. The room I had was small but plenty enough for me in a city hotel. The staff was very warm and friendly. I'd definitely return.

The Grey had a lovely feel upon entering, quirky, boutiquey and homely. The hotel is small and unique and the staff are super friendly and helpful. In particular Lukahnyo had amazing customer service, he knew our names from day one and didn't forget them for our whole 5 days. We enjoyed a couple of breakfasts in the cosy dining space which were really nice and being able to enjoy a freshly squeezed OJ won extra points. We had a fantastic evening on the Saturday night at the Piano Bar adjoining the property, Nina and her band were beyond amazing, can highly recommend making a night of it if you can. Lots of amazing eateries and shops within walking distance. My only downside to the property was that it can be a little noisy with guests coming and goings in the night, but I am a light sleeper, so probably more an issue for me than for others.

Staff was polite and beyond amazing. They gave us good advices on the safety of the De Waterkant area (generally safe to walk around at night as there are a lot of security staff stationed around). Since we stayed in winter their Skybar and Pianobar was closed, but they had a breakfast area which served very tasty breakfast. There was also the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village Mall nearby which had a SPAR supermarket which met all our needs. De Waterkant is one of the recommended place to stay in Cape Town if you want to be near the V&A Waterfront and CBD. The room which we stayed (Room 10) was also spacious and had enough room for 2 people. I strongly recommend this hotel.

The Grey Hotel is the only way to go when in Cape Town. Nestled near Bo-Kaap and the V and A Waterfront, it provided every thing I needed. Loved the staff.Especially Mrs. Martha, Warren and Luigi. Mrs. Blessings made breakfast delightful. Great place! Can’t wait until my return!

The place is very cute, quaint and clean. Staff were very nice. Not accessible, though, for folks with disabilities. Very small rooms, narrow stairwells and halls. No elevator. You have to be in great physical shape to lug your own bags in and out and actually take the climb to the Skybar area, for the views. I didn’t like that breakfast was à la carte and at additional cost. So I jumped in an Uber and had fancy breakfast 5 minutes away. The bed was very firm. Pillows nice and plush. Shower hot and refreshing. Hand towels. Bath towels. No washcloths or face towels.

The hotel is lovely but you can not be disabled or over sized it has a nice atmosphere but we could have got more information from the reception about the restaurant and the surroundings. The breakfast could have some improvements but the staff was interested and fixed what ever problem you could have. The reception could have also informed that there are pool towels to borrow. Great close to the waterfront and the BooKap so nice area to stay in. Lovley restaurant and also other interesting places with good food

When I checked into my room, the sheets weren’t changed. There were stains on the sheet and pillow case. I’m not sure if it was because of poor washing or if left from a prior guest, but after a 16 hr flight, I don’t want to make a complaint within the first 5 minutes of being there. The manager was friendly and helpful - he switched out the sheets but I had to ask him to change everything - from pillow cases to the down sheet - eventhough it was clear the sheets may have been used. The room was nice and comfortable and the water ran perfectly hot. I slept comfortably. The downside to the room is location - you can hear the foot traffic and staff moving about too early in the morning. However, I slept well and disruptions weren’t major. Other than that, the location is great, with eating options up and down the street. The pool and rooftop weren’t available when I was there and this was not mentioned on the hotel page when I was booking.
