We travelled late so arrived after dark. I hadn't read the Sat nav directions before leaving so unfortunately we got a little lost but staff at a nearby pub pointed us in the right direction. Well signposted but unlit at the driveway entrance and this would have really helped. Better signage on site would also be greatly appreciated. As I'm disabled your warning about the steep entrance steps and alternative ramp entry were greatly appreciated. We were met by the most wonderful receptionist whose friendly and helpful 'nothing too much trouble' manner set the scene for our stay. We were too late for our dinner reservation but the night staff provided some very welcome food in our room. Our garden room exceeded expectations with the biggest bed I've ever seen and a super luxurious walkin shower. Perfect as I'm recovering from a broken leg at the moment. The room decor enhanced the experience with its relaxed yet sophisticated colour scheme. The choice of furniture and soft furnishings added to this relaxed sophistication and were extremely comfortable. When ordered, room service was very prompt and when eating in the restaurant, they were very helpful providing our dessert and cheese course in room. I was unable to use your well appointed gym on this trip but if it had been available, I would have appreciated the use of a pool or jacuzzi/sauna and think that a spa would be a great location for a spa..Hope to visit you all again very soon

A lovely stay. Great staff. Amazing food in the restaurant. Our only minor niggle was that communal areas, restaurant, corridors were a tad chilly and could have been a bit warmer despite the beautiful open log fires.

It was only one night and i am a business traveller. So a relaxed bar menu would have been nice. But enjoyed the stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Liked the EV charging.

Lovely setting, beautiful old building. Good food. Open log fires very welcoming. Expensive for not having any of those extras you expect at that price. No toiletries, dressing gowns , slippers, mini fridge etc. Service charge added to meal bill. Wee bit cheeky.

We tried the hotel for a overnight stay as our daughter is getting married here in August and again we were blown our. From the time we arrived and were checked in by a lovely gentleman Evan until the time we left the staff were so polite, friendly and couldn't do enough for us.. We spoke to Emily the wedding planner who as always was lovely. Everything was perfect and the breakfast fantastic

The view was wonderful. The staff was very helpful. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. However, there were a lot of stairs. It's too bad they didn't have an elevator we could use since I have knee problems. It's also a little hard to find!

Waited at reception for a good ten minutes before anyone arrived to check us in even after ringing the bell and phoning them at least five times. Finally got to the room and the key card didn’t work so waited a few more minutes outside the room for them to come up with a replacement (I rang them) The door handle came off in my hand when opening cupboard to get the iron, and finally the bathroom didn’t have any working fans to collect the steam when running the bath or taking a shower it was extremely steamy and overpowering I had to get out of the bathroom. I found the communal halls could have done with a good hoover also. I’d personally give this hotel a 2 out of 10.

I had a fantastic time staying here for my wedding weekend! The staff were absolutely fabulous, and the room was spotless. The beds were so comfy, I honestly didn’t want to leave! Can’t wait to book and stay again soon!

Absolutely wonderful hotel, we had a dog friendly room, which was really large with a patio area outside. Beds are super comfy and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff were especially helpful and friendly.

The property itself was beautiful as were the grounds. However the rooms were not cleaned to a high standard, some of our party had sink in their rooms, my room was not cleaned very well which is not what you expect for such a high priced room!

Staff were very friendly from start to finish, breakfast and bar snack were delicious. The overall hotel is very welcoming. Our room was beautiful, clean and spacious. We are already planning our next visit with our pups next time.

a quaint old house in lovely grounds. the room we very well kept as was most of the hotel and grounds. the only slight worry was a pungent smell in the corridor between the bar and the rooms which was quite unpleasant. this was only in the ground floor corridor though, not obvious upstairs or in the room or the main hotel. Serve was friendly and efficient.

Room and property very clean and pleasant, feel like rooms turned over quickly however, dirty cups , milk and water not refreshed, pillow cases not un folded /fitted correctly. Small things but all to the overall feel. Staff on arrival and other times spoke very minimally , gave the room keys , no offer or info about dinner, breakfast or facilites. No mention of internet or checkout times, aware it on the printed key sleeve hut just a strange experience. I did raise some issues (cups and water) and staff were polite and helpful. There was a wedding on when we arrived, it was loud and you could hear the marquee from our room, no one mentioned anything about this to us (although i wonder if this mean food was unavailable and this is why it wasnt offered?) When we arrived all windows etc of hotel were open and main areas smelt of 'fried things' so we didnt ask as wasnt what we expected from the look of the hotel. No mention or apology for the noise. Check out similar to check in, no questions, minimal interaction, took key and told all settled. The positioning of the hotel is lovely and the views are incredible. But i dont think we would return. Nothing 'wrong' just not all we were expecting.

Lovely clean and recently renovated room. Front of the property and on the first floor so a stunning view of Cardiff and Caerphilly mountain. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice and quality items on the menu. All the staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly. Beautiful hotel and stunning views. Only small gripe is that the hotel was a little warm, nothing that couldn’t be sorted by opening the windows and turning off the radiator in the room. Fan in the wardrobe and also available at reception. Then again who could predict 20 degrees in April!

We upgraded to the junior suite and foujd the room amazing , breath taking . Wonderful grounds , amazing views The breakfast in the morning had many items to choose from . Great staff We can't say enough about this property. And hope we will be able to come back again

Excellent bedroom with a nice large bathroom and with a separate shower and bath, very upmarket and modern, it had a view through the patio doors giving an great view over Cardiff and on to the Bay and the Severn from it's private patio

Large room and bathroom; bed very comfortable. Lovely view from hotel grounds. Breakfast under whelming....excellent ingredients, especially the bacon, but hot food was lukewarm at best. Limited choice for eggs and fruit.

Very nice room but furniture needed re-upholstering Inadequate lighting over tea making area and dressing table.Nice bathroom but unable to adjust shower which was too hot,Missing bath robes. Sequoias" restaurant "really just the hotel dining room. Food was way below standard,Drinks overpriced. Complained to manager on leaving. Very nice room but furniture needed re-upholstering Inadequate lighting over tea making area and dressing table.Nice bathroom but unable to adjust shower which was too hot,Missing bath robes. Sequoias" restaurant "really just the hotel dining room. Food was way below standard,Drinks overpriced. Complained to manager on leaving. Room and property very clean and pleasant, feel like rooms turned over quickly however, dirty cups , milk and water not refreshed, pillow cases not un folded /fitted correctly. Small things but all to the overall feel. Staff on arrival and other times spoke very minimally , gave the room keys , no offer or info about dinner, breakfast or facilites. No mention of internet or checkout times, aware it on the printed key sleeve hut just a strange experience. I did raise some issues (cups and water) and staff were polite and helpful. There was a wedding on when we arrived, it was loud and you could hear the marquee from our room, no one mentioned anything about this to us (although i wonder if this mean food was unavailable and this is why it wasnt offered?) When we arrived all windows etc of hotel were open and main areas smelt of 'fried things' so we didnt ask as wasnt what we expected from the look of the hotel. No mention or apology for the noise. Check out similar to check in, no questions, minimal interaction, took key and told all settled. The positioning of the hotel is lovely and the views are incredible. But i dont think we would return. Supurb staff. Room was just right, very comfortable and quiet as well as spotless. The staff made the difference though, helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived.

Dishonest hotel management. Overall a bit tired. Room wasn't great and as there were no others avaialble, I arrangeed to check out the next day (originally booked for three days). Despite promising to refund the other days, the hotel didn't do this, claiming it has to go through expedia. Expedia say the same regarding the hotel. So effectively I've been defrauded. Short of taking them to court, there's not a lot I can do. A lesson learnt that it's better to book direct when conveneint. But not this hotel!

We travelled late so arrived after dark. I hadn't read the Sat nav directions before leaving so unfortunately we got a little lost but staff at a nearby pub pointed us in the right direction. Well signposted but unlit at the driveway entrance and this would have really helped. Better signage on site would also be greatly appreciated. As I'm disabled your warning about the steep entrance steps and alternative ramp entry were greatly appreciated. We were met by the most wonderful receptionist whose friendly and helpful 'nothing too much trouble' manner set the scene for our stay. We were too late for our dinner reservation but the night staff provided some very welcome food in our room. Our garden room exceeded expectations with the biggest bed I've ever seen and a super luxurious walkin shower. Perfect as I'm recovering from a broken leg at the moment. The room decor enhanced the experience with its relaxed yet sophisticated colour scheme. The choice of furniture and soft furnishings added to this relaxed sophistication and were extremely comfortable. When ordered, room service was very prompt and when eating in the restaurant, they were very helpful providing our dessert and cheese course in room. I was unable to use your well appointed gym on this trip but if it had been available, I would have appreciated the use of a pool or jacuzzi/sauna and think that a spa would be a great location for a spa..Hope to visit you all again very soon

We were staying at the hotel for a wedding. I phoned the hotel directly the day before arrival to ask for an early check in as the bride needed to change away from the groom. When we arrived we did not get the early room. Then the hotel manager asked us to remove ourselves from the car park because there was another wedding in the hotel and he didn’t want us around the car park!!!!! I paid the best part of £350 for two rooms for the night to be treated like a homeless person in the car park. Just what your daughter wants on her wedding day!

Hotel in a brilliant location and with a stunning view over Cardiff and across the sea towards Somerset. The SatNav postcode given in the email confirming the booking through Expedia took us to a point on a road passing over the M4 and somewhat south of the hotel, causing some confusion! Staff extremely friendly, attentive and helpful.

We do not live that far from this hotel, and this was our first visit which was for our wedding annniversary. It is such a lovely hotel in every aspect. Great staff, amazing room, fantastic views and wonderful breakfast. Highly recommended and we are already looking for a reason to stay again. Thanks for looking after us :-)

A very nice Christmas experience. There was nothing l could fault with the hotel. The only issue we had was that the post code took us to another hotel down the road that is closed so took a while to find it.

Stayed for one night, room was excellent, really big, seperate bedroom and lounge. Resturant was not busy, evening meal was first class, as was breakfast. staff really freindly and helpful. open fires burning, lovely atmosphere.

The hotel receptionists lady on arrival, young man upon leaving were very polite and friendly. Bedroom was large with a huge bed, lovely bedding. The bathroom was great and had a bath and a separate shower which was easy to control. Tea coffee water facilities in the room Would have liked a brighter light near the mirror when blow drying and styling hair. The restaurant was lovely. We had chicken ballotine with tarragon and apricots, fondant potatoes, butternut squash, cauliflower, beautifully presented and for 22 a dinner very good value. Breakast was buffet style but served to you. Lovely pot of tea and choice of juices, heard the lady at the next table delighted with the yoghurt selection, peach melba, gooseberry. All in all a great stay and highly recommend.

Staff were very friendly from start to finish, breakfast and bar snack were delicious. The overall hotel is very welcoming. Our room was beautiful, clean and spacious. We are already planning our next visit with our pups next time.

We stayed here before my son’s graduation in Cardiff, lovely location and nice breakfast. We didn’t check in until 11pm due to England playing in a World Cup game we did call ahead to warn the hotel. A room for 3 people was booked in advance however we were given a double bed and that was it. My son ended up staying at a friends after a panic over beds not ideal. The hotel offered 10% refundwas ridiculous, as we did not get what we paid for. I refused and we haven’t heard from them again. I would not recommend, as I can’t say it was a good experience and the management do not seem bothered that I am annoyed over what happened.

Great room and fan was switched on prior to our arrival and window open (no air con)- a great touch. High quality breakfast and staff were friendly and efficient! A great night stay and stayed several times before- good value for money! Will be back again soon!
