Best Western Atlantic Hotel

This hotel is terrible. It shouldn't be able to open based of the state of the grounds and the lack of amenities. When we booked it there was no mention of any of the this. When we arrived we were shocked to find the grounds were like a dumping ground. Old suitcases, beer bottles, general rubbish scattered around the parking area. 3 spaces were full of skips, leaving very little parking for customers, as the car park has about 10 spaces. So first impressions were worrying. At check in I asked about the restaurant and bar, to be told they were shut. great. They still had breakfast but after the state of the place we declined. The receptionist told us half the hotel was shut as undergoing refurb, but we were getting a newly renovated room. Walking down the dark hallways to the room we were faced with dark and dingy scruffy old doors, dark paint and many pictures of Muhammad Ali pop art. Strange. Then we get into the room, yes new carpet and paint, with old and cruddy furniture. No air con, there was a fan in the wardrobe. Then opening the curtains we had a room with a view, a view of a building site, loads of rubbish and the car park. I stay in hotels regularly and have been in some not so desirable ones but this was the pits. This is Best Western not some scruffy motel. The shower tray was flimsy and felt like it hadn't been levelled up properly. It moved underneath. Only good thing about it was the complimentary water, and a couple of biscuits in the room. £150

Nicely renovated room I stayed in, however still work in progress in and around the hotel. No bar or resturant available in the evening which wasn't mentioned when booking which was disappointing after a very long drive. Staff were brilliant though. I'm sure once finished with things mentioned available it will be a nice hotel to stay in.
