Divi Southwinds Beach Resort

L’hôtel est sur 4 étages avec ascenseur, notre chambre était séparée du séjour (avec canapé lit) avec un coin cuisine qui permet pour certains repas de faire soi-même. Les équipements sont très intéressants (3 piscines, espace de jeux enfants, terrain de tennis, mini golf, grand jardin arboré) et avec un peu de chance vous pourrez voir les singes en liberté en jouant quelques balles de tennis. Le restaurant est séparé de l’hôtel (juste en face) avec une belle vue mer et un personnel attentionné. Le personnel est très agréable et de bon conseil sur les adresses (notamment à l’activité center). Enfin Saint Lawrence gap est une longue rue avec de nombreux hôtels et restaurants, de quoi varier les plaisirs culinaires et assister à des mini concerts live. Belle découverte que nous recommandons !!!

Beautiful property that is well maintained. 3 pools, nice beach and very friendly staff. Good restaurant at the resort and within walking distance of many good restaurants in the St. Lawrence Gap. Easy to get to from the airport and most off-site activities will pick you up at the resort. Nice grocery store within walking distance for food and beverages.

The perfect hotel for a staycation, rooms are fully furnished for everyday living, the property has it's own basketball court, mini golf and tennis court. The main pool max depth (7ft) is great for adults. The staff are super friendly. I hight reccomend this facility.

Great location - walking distance from beaches and restaurants. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent beauty parlour run by Roxanne.

Nice main pool and brach areas

I love the openess of the reservation/lobby area as well as the friendliness and welcoming spirit with rum punch...i enjoyed the location of my room with an average size balcony overlooking the pool area. the property was restful, inviting and clean. all of the staff were very nice and helpful; i was happy to know that there was a beauty parlor on the property where I could get hair manicure services as well as a massage. there was an issue with wi-fi and phone operation in my room; but there was another option provided. I did not like that the rooms were not equipped with a combination tub and shower or that the property had no jacuzzi/whirlpool to enjoy. i would definitely return to Barbardos and to this property. but i want my same room...lol

Large hotel, Multiple pools, although off the beach there are beach chairs and a beach pool. The demographic here skews to the older side. My only knock on this place is check out is 10am even though the door in the room says 11am. They said someone would have mentioned it at check in when they called to see why we hadn’t check out yet. Great location.

The property was very convenient to all of the restaurants in St Lawrence Gap, however there was only one restaurant option and nothing on the property. Pure Ocean restaurant associated with the Divi was overpriced and food was not good. The pool areas lacked umbrellas for shade and the Pool next the beach had no umbrella's. Rooms were comfortable and staff friendly.

It was ok. The wait time at the restaurant during sunday bruch is unacceptable. Thanks to the two bartenders on duty who went above and beyond to salvage my experience In addition the housekeeping was not up to standard. I stayed 3 days and bed was not made, dish in sink was not washed.

The property needs a complete renovation. Tennis courts don’t have a net, putt putt has not been taken care of, rooms are WAY outdated and dirty. We stayed 6 nights and never received house keeping once. Would never recommend staying here!!

Our stay was horrible here. Such a shame that this resort is such a disaster. We stayed here because we always stayed at Divi in Aruba and never had one issue on any stay there -- more than 6 times. Ice maker in freezer broke 2x during stay. Toilet did not work one day. Oven was not working. No pool towels available on Monday and Tuesday. Someone stole food out of our room. The garden pool bathroom was so gross, filthy and full of mold. Cracked tiles at pool and a very dangerous broken and splintered railing. Always had to call or go to front desk for tissues, toilet paper and fresh towels. Kitchen was dirty upon arrival. Filthy cutting board in drawer. No dishwasher so we felt that people used kitchen items and just rinsed them before putting back in cabinets as everything seemed dirty. Internet was in and out throughout the week. I felt like I spent so much of my precious vacation complaining, waiting for maintenance workers to fix things and waiting for fresh towels. Note that we were offered to change rooms but really didn't have the energy or time to pack up everything in the room to move. Moving all of the groceries in the fridge alone would have been such an inconvenience. Will never stay here again and cannot recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel location is amazing but our experience wasn’t nice.There were three of us in the room, but it was only set up for two, so we constantly had to ask for extra towels. The room itself was filthy and had a musty odor. The kitchen was dirty, and the air conditioning grilles were clogged with dust.

Clean Room, Courteous Staff

The Resort is decent, however there are a few things in dire need of attention. My check-in experience was incredibly lackluster with a gentleman who appeared as though he couldn't care less about my presence before him. After completing a form and taking my card, I was asked, quite cavalierly, whether I needed help to get to my room. I made no issue and responded by asking for directions and let him know that I was happy to find it on my own. The interaction wasn't unpleasant or unfriendly, just mechanical, unwelcoming and almost completely devoid of warmth. Housekeeping was a major issue for me. The sheets were not changed during my 5 night stay even when I specifically put out the sign requesting housekeeping. Another odd experience was that fresh towels were placed in my suite without removing the used ones. The location is great being on St. Lawrence Gap which boasts an impressive nightlife scene and a wide array of bars, lounges and restaurants. The distance to the airport and Bridgetown is also convenient. The food at the on site restaurant PureOcean was good and the grounds were well-maintained. The best way to sum up my experience at this hotel is 'detached'. There was no inquiry into my stay or whether I required anything... no one actually bothered with me for the 5 days I was there, which was fine with me, but odd for this particular industry.

Clean but dated

My family of 4 stayed at Divi Dec 4-11. We absolutely loved it. We have no complaints. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend others to choose this hotel. Here are some of the highlights that we enjoyed about Divi: Dover beach- Wow. Stunning beach, very quiet as the hotel is situated at the end of the beach…we felt we had a private beach most of the time. Swimming was beautiful. The grounds- immaculate. They do a really nice job keeping everything clean and well maintained. The mini putt was really fun. We played a few rounds everyday. The pickleball and tennis courts looked well maintained… Pools- the main pool is really nice. However the smaller pool at the side of the hotel was a hidden gem! We usually used that pool in the morning and had it all to ourselves. The pool that is Oceanside is also really nice. Staff- didn’t really interact with anyone, but everyone was always friendly. Location- easy walking to restaurants and bars. We also walked to Massys grocery store a few times. Also the hotel is right on the main road for buses and ZR’s if you need to get around. Carlisle bay and Oistens are 10 minutes away. The room- loved having the separate bedroom. The kids were on the pullout couch..didn’t look very comfortable but they are kids in Barbados, they can’t complain! The kitchen was well stocked with all the requirements for light cooking. The coffee maker and filters were definitely appreciated. Overall, we loved it!

The location was great, the staff were awesome and the rooms very clean. My only concern is the quality of the WiFi and better tvs.

If you are booking a room for four people and your option is to use the couch as a bed, please reconsider your choice. The room we had had a couch that was impossible to sleep on when pulled out. My husband had to sleep on the couch, which is the size of a loveseat during our stay.

The televisions did not work. They were called to the room four times to repair the televisions. They were repaired on the seventh day of my stay by replacing them with updated televisions.

What we didn’t like was the shower. There was no water pressure and took forever to shower. It was horrible to say the least.

Recently enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were clean and comfy, and quiet. The rooms are a bit dated but we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. One thing I would hope to see next time is to update the tvs because they were old, there was only 8 channels and the tv in the living room didn’t work. Room service would be a great addition as well. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

The room was clean and decent for my overnight stay. I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite. The hotel is close to the St Lawrence Gap to secure dining. There is no beach on the property.

Amazing staff and lovely spacious room!

Property is at strategic location close to many restaurants and hotel amenities such as pool , tennis court , children play area kept clean . Guest service is pathetic and staff is rude specially the staff at reception /Front desk and House keeping.

Staff responded promptly to reports on issues eg inadequate towels, non working phone.

The staff was excellent

There should have been at least a bottle of water in the room. The check process was extremely slow - took half an hour. Don't like the birds in the dining area. Otherwise a good stay.

It’s in the details from booking to check in to the room. Extending the booking by two days took weeks of back and forth calls consisting of conflicting information, un-responded to voicemails and emails, dropped calls, transferring back and forth between persons, wildly different pricing - finally on the 8th attempt and pleading for help I got through. The check in guy watched my wife get the trolley herself and rather than help us load it with our bags he suggested that we pack the trolley in a different way then walked off. He wasn’t rude and he thought he was helping but just didn’t realize that this was not real help. The cleaning service doesn’t make the bed. The thermostat didn’t work so the room was very hot. The breakfast was extremely expansive for something very basic. They ran out of beach towels one day etc etc. Everyone is pleasant and helpful otherwise, it’s just clear that it’s a three star type place.

This has to be the most unaccommodating hotel we have ever been to and we travel quite frequently. Check-in - we requested an early check-in far in advance of our trip and got a response saying it can be fulfilled at a fee. Upon arrival (with a baby and small child) - not even a tiny attempt to have the room ready before 4pm (we arrived at 9am). When I asked if can possibly get an estimate on time it would be ready, the lady at the counter responded with most attitude to indicate they can\'t give us any idea. In spite of this, one hour into our room, a stranger was given a keycard in "error" to our room and barged in whilst my small child was changing leaving him mortified for the rest of our trip that a stranger would come into our room. Housekeeping was non existent throughout our stay unless you count new towels at 5-6pm as housekeeping. One day I specifically requested a change of linens at 10am, it came at 6pm. Requested a late check out and one would expect that due to all the inconveniences coupled with the time that housekeeping actually does anything that we would be accommodated - once again, with the most unpleasant face, we were told they would have to check and let us know at 10am. Barbados is an amazing island which thrives on Tourism so please don\'t let this horrible hotel ruin your trip. There are many hotel options and this should be last resort - worth 1 star simply due to the fact that they had a kitchenette.

The hotel staff were amazing. So friendly and super helpful. Pool was awesome when the red flag in the ocean were out. Restaurant was a bit to pricey for us, but it was a good time for our 4 days there.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It is conveniently located on St Lawrence which allowed easy access to a variety of restaurants and it was very close to public transportation as well. The property is well kept and the staff were extremely helpful. It’s a great spot!

This location is perfect if you’re looking to stay in the “gap” area. Super close to the nightlife and a private beach right across the street. Much less crowded than other portions of the beach just down the road

Love the location.

Everything at and around the property was great.. the beach was the best part!! We were able to walk all ver St. Lawrence Gap and enjoy different types of restaurants everywhere. HAMILTON was awesome!! Highly recommend

Stay was good. Cleanliness was good, not outstading. Pool bar poorly stocked. Dinning at pool location not available. Pureocean poor was good along with dinning. All contacts with staff was excellent, especially front desk day and night.

Breakfast in hotel was too expensive . Value wasnt equivalent But many dining options within walking distance

The room was in good condition but eh outside of the refrigerator was dirty. Also, extra towels were not provided when asked. The food could be better and quicker service. We had to wait 30 minutes just to place an order for food.

The staff was wonderful and I really enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Easy access to the beach.

Accommodations were great. I do not recommend the food. We were the first at the breakfast buffet (only breakfast option) and it was cold.

The staff was very polite and very understanding. I stayed in 2019 and definitely wanted to come back and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant PureOcean Is great; the food was really really good! There was always somebody to assist even late night!

Pool by the ocean as well as two other pools. Was well kept.Buffet Breakfast was the same foods every day. Could easily have had done variety and more interesting tropical fruit other than pineapple and melon. Would be useful to have some showers when you come off the beach. In welcome cocktail party could have told of things like craft shows in town and other interesting things to do away from the property.
