20 years ago this property must have been a gem. However, now it's run down. The food is mediocre at best, we found ourselves eating off property for dinner more often. The drinks are quite limited and there is no option for higher quality spirits or wines. There is no live entertainment, which seems like a huge miss too. The pools where cloudy, tiles falling off the walls, and pool decks look like they had not been cleaned in years. Will we stay here again? No. Not unless there is a massive overhaul.

The round pool has a bartender named Oscar who refused to clean the bar counter after a couple of women laid across it for pictures. It is a swim up bar. I just wanted it wiped off because they had their feet up there and everything. Guess what, everyone avoided that bar after. Very disappointing.

The property, pool area and ocean were very nice. Tennis/pickleball at an extra charge ridiculous. Sporadic shuttle service up and down hills. Food at buffet offered inexpensive main course options. Salads and deserts were good along with service. No one answers phone at front desk. Rude staff unless they were selling you something. Expensive tours from hotel. Use Viator instead. Remote.

Our room and view was lovely. Poolside bar closes at 5:30pm, very disappointing. All-inclusive was more like Restricted-inclusive. Room service was only available until 9:30pm. No available snacks during the day. Dining rooms were only open specific hours.

Needs more umbrella for shade at pools, pools need more cleaning then just scooping leaves out. More staff is needed around busy areas for cleaning during the day. Should have hotel shuttle to Coco Beach daily, and more change on had to help break larger bills we come with to we can tip more often.

For an all inclusive property, I was disappointed that I could only do dinner every 3 nights I stayed there. And the off label alcohol was less than impressive.

Property was very nice, staff was friendly, great service. However, the food at the buffet was not good and guests are only able to dine at the specialty restaurants every 3 nights. We had dinner at 2 or the 3. The Asian restaurant was good but the Italian restaurant was not. Also very limited entertainment. The disco was empty most of the time. They had bingo, karyoke, & a dj at the disco at various times and there were never more than 8 people there (and 6 of those were traveling together). They had a live saxophone player in the lounge one evening & a flute player another evening. Definitely not the resort to visit if you are looking for night life, live music, or dancing. Many other resorts have silent disco or white parties; something like this would be a good addition. The beach & pools were lovely, although pools close at 8PM and there is no hot tub. There were restaurant & shopping areas within a 10 to 15 drive from the property. We used Uber to get around off property. The food at nearby restaurants was MUCH BETTER than the resort offerings, which is disappointing considering we were paying for an all-inclusive resort, planning on having most of our meals there. We booked 2 excursions through the tour company at the hotel, On the Beach. The excursions were great but On the Beach kept giving us different prices for the excursions. Prices I received prior to arriving were lower than prices given once there and not honored. Definitely negotiate prices on tours.

Staff were exceptional. Especially JJ at the tour desk. He went above and beyond every day even when it wasn't his area. The only complaint I have anout this property is the amount of walking. However, they do provide shuttle service between rooms and lobby, pools, beach etc

This resort is very laid back, simple, quiet and relaxing. If you wish to party, I don't recommend staying here. There's also no evening shows like most resorts have. The food at the restaurants was very good! Definately book them if you can. The buffet is hit and miss, but this will depend on your own personal choices, but I have for sure had worse elsewhere The beach by here has rip tipes, so you can't here really swim in the ocean past a few feet, but otherwise the beach is great. Also, if you have mobility issues, keep in mind this resort is a lot of walking uphill. Although they do have transportation, it sometimes takes a while to come for you. I definitely recommend leaving the resort for excursions. Costa Rica has so much to see and it is extremely safe. Talk to JJ at On the Beach Tours at the resort, you won't regret it

The property was nice, but little things added up to making the experience less pleasurable. Staff rarely smiled and rarely interacted with guests, the pool had excessive mildew on the tiles, posted activities such as pool aerobics and pool volleyball did not occur (I was told I had to ask for someone to do it), and the food was very average. 4 days in a row I was unable to exchange my beach towel for a new one due to none available and 2 days I was unable to order room service because no one answered the phone. ( I tried over 6 times each) If you are a premium member, the top shelf liquor is only aviable at the Premier bar which is extremely far from the pools and is limited. The bartenders were not very friendly and barely made eye contact. Nightime entertainment is limited to a disco, karoake, and sometimes a violinist. Overall, I did not feel very welcomed.

The property was located very near the beach. The plants, trees, and grounds were BEAUTIFUL. The resort needs updating; it is dated. The beds, all couches and cushioned seats, had dips, sunken spots, and the upholstery in several areas, including the premium lounge, was stained or dingy. The air conditioning was not working in the main dining/buffet. There were fans on floor, but the fans did very little to cool the area. The air conditioner in my room worked sporadically; I called multiple times for repair. The water in building one was off for over 5 hours one day. My room smelled like sulfur/sewage and the smell seemed to worsen each day. The food was horrible and lacked variety. There were beans and rice daily. The meats-- pork, chicken, and fish--were extremely poor quality and never looked appetizing or edible. The vegetables--cauliflower, carrots, broccoli-- were served everyday; they were undercooked and never seasoned. The desserts were inedible. Outside of the restaurants, drinks were served in thin paper cups that got flimsy immediately. The music played throughout the resort lacked diversity and variety. They started playing it early in the mornings, loud enough to be heard in the guestrooms. The club/disco was disappointing. There was karaoke every night. Nearly ALL of the selections were salsa. The pool table was in a corner by the entrance, there was too much traffic to play it comfortably. To top it off, staff was not hospitable at all.

The grounds were beautiful, however that did not make up for the uneven walkways, very limited lighting. Walking around the resort at night was scary at times with the local wildlife making themselves very well known they were present. Transport even know they were called would often not show up. The pools were refreshing, however once in the pool you could see mold along the walls and sharp broken.tiles. Some of the staff were amazing and some of the staff were terrible, rude, argumentative. When we paid for things at the store or at front desk we often heard sorry we dont have change and were often expected to leave the difference as a tip. I believe there needs to be some necessary repairs and well overdue retraining.

This property overall was ok. For starters we had booked our room months and months in advance and after a long 7 hour drive from the southern part of Costa Rica we arrived to a check in lady stating that we had NO RESERVATION at the property. To top it off she was very rude about it. After about 10 minutes she finally let us in begrudgingly. The second check in person was much more sympathetic and found our reservation. Secondly, after we had got to our room we found that it was relatively dirty with poop stains near the toilet paper roll dispenser and a toilet that was broken and leaking all over the floor. The corners of the room no matter where you looked were dusty and covered in dead bugs and hair from whoever had stayed previously. On the upside, the beach was beautiful and pools were in good condition and the rest of the staff was overall very helpful. The food was decent as well. Hopefully anyone staying here has a better experience than we did so overall I cannot rate this resort as highly as it should’ve been.

Friday check in … hotel was full.. gave us a villa for the night, which was fine. No golf cart offered, waited for shuttle, finally just took our bags and walked up to unit 11. No cards given for beach towels. Shower was cold, crab in tub when I turned the water on. Next morning s scorpion was near my husband’s shoes. Great start? Not…

Was hit and miss with getting towels replaced daily once they took towels. Did not follow there own policy of hanging towels to save environment. Rooms where very well cleaned and air cinditioning was great amenity to come back to the room to daily. Loved to hang out on balcony in morning. High regards to Oscar in lower pool bar, Enrique and Jill at Buffet and Alexando in disco bar as top customer service for our week stay. We loved to be able to walk the grounds and beaches daily as well as our excursions out on the economy. Would have liked to have a couple bottles of water daily in fridge vs one.

While I truly appreciated the kindness and attentiveness of the staff, the resort needs a complete overhaul. The rooms are very large - probably the largest I have seen, but it needs updating. My sheets had some kind of black stain on them which I asked to be changed. The napkins at the buffet table were all stained. The food was subpar at best and only had one restaurant that had good food - The Italian. The snack bar had the same food every day; pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers, plain pasta, chicken wings and some salads. The pools are so old that the tiles are coming off and people Pick them up and leave them on the side of the pool. The pool by the beach with lounge chairs in the pool have not been cleaned and there is a ton of black grout lines - which just grosses me out. The resort should warn people about the all the raccoons that come to your door. I had two baby raccoons just look in the window of my room and just stare at me. Also, most of the resort does not have air conditioning. The restaurants were so hot that a waiter gave me a napkin with ice and told me to put it on my head. I had to call the front desk a few times because my room was too hot. All in all - I would not go back.

The resort should warn people about the all the raccoons that come to your door. I had two baby raccoons just look in the window of my room and just stare at me. Also, most of the resort does not have air conditioning. The restaurants were so hot that a waiter gave me a napkin with ice and told me to put it on my head. I had to call the front desk a few times because my room was too hot. All in all - I would not go back.

I felt the shower was a little disappointing. Since there was only a half door the water kept getting all over the floor and the towel that was provided was not absorbate enough to keep the floor dry. Also, I don't think there was enough light in our room. Too dark.

Our main complaint was the food. We could only eat at the "ala carte" restaurants 2 times during our stay. The service at those restaurants was excellent, the food was Ok. The rest of the time we had to eat meals at the buffet. More often than not the food was served cold. It was also a small buffet which not many good option. We believe that good food is part of a good all inclusive experience which is why we cannot give a good review. We would never stay there again. Which is what says it all.

The property was beautiful and well kept. The pictures give an appearance that the buildings were spread far apart but they were actually close together. So yes, there were stairs and you had to walk but it wasn’t too bad. The shuttle service was good and a big thank you to William for his kindness and being prompt with the shuttle. The room was clean and spacious and the air conditioning was excellent. The room cleaning service was excellent. Overall the staff were friendly. The pools were well maintained. The beach was amazing. However, the pools as well as everything else shuts down at 7pm. The lighting is scarce at dark and there is nothing to do and no outdoor entertainment after dark. It’s go eat dinner and go to bed. The food was okay however, the selection of food was not. If you want a big buffet, this is not the place. Also, the same foods were served everyday, with basically only one other main meat besides pork. Also, you had to provide your room number each time you entered the restaurant, staff seated you, and got your drink. It was not a place where you could just get up and get your drink on your own. Also, you could only eat the buffet once per meal and could not come and go. Overall, the resort was beautiful and the beach was great. If you are looking for a place very low key, quiet, and are okay with basic meals then this is the place. But, if you like to try a wide variety of foods/deserts then this is not the place.

We had an amazing stay at Occidental Papagayo! The resort grounds were beautifully maintained, and we really loved how everything was laid out. Although there’s a shuttle available, we only used it for check-in and check-out since everything felt conveniently close. Our premium bay room was perfect—the view was absolutely breathtaking. The entertainment in the evenings was just right for us, and we especially enjoyed the guitar and saxophone player. The premium bar offered incredible views and excellent service; a special thanks to Kattya and Mila for making our visits there extra enjoyable. Dining was a highlight as well. The buffet always had a nice variety—omelets at breakfast were a favorite, and the prime rib at lunch along with Costa Rican night were must-tries. We also dined at all three à la carte restaurants, each offering something unique and delicious. On our last day, we treated ourselves to the spa with a couples massage and facial. It was the perfect way to unwind after all of our excursions and made it a little easier to slide back into reality. We celebrated a birthday trip here and couldn’t have chosen a better place. It was truly memorable, and we’re already looking forward to returning next year!

The hotel a/c is horrible. Our first room the temp didn't get above 78 and we complained and got a new room the 3rd night of our stay. The a/c in that room was better but 2nd night all the a/c units in our building froze and everyone complained about that. There was no a/c in any restaurants so you were eating dinner sweating. They don't stock your fridge unless you call and even then most of the time we still had to walk to the front to get water bottles from the bartenders because they didn't do it. Sunday, when we checked out they didn't have any water bottles to give guests for the airport ride. Another thing to note is that all of their liquor is not good unless you pay for the premium service WHICH is only served in one location on the property. Their bartenders were all great and a lot of fun, their staff is attentive for the most part. The food was blah, we did have a great steak in the Grill the first night and the Oriental restaurant was really good. I will never stay at this resort again nor will I recommend it.

Arrived at resort at 2:40PM, only two people available to check folks in. Waited in line standing, no water or refreshments for 30 minutes. Actual check took about 5 minutes, but were told room wasn’t ready and give them 5 minutes. After waiting an additional 25 minutes, we went back up to the desk and was hold we need to now get in another line to wait for a shuttle to take us to our room. We had to wait on a second shuttle, climb onto a mini van with no A/C… got stuck riding behind another shuttle took an additional 15 minutes to arrive to our room. The room is just okay, the shower and toilet areas were out dated and the bed was firm. The door had a huge space under it allow all kind of lizards to crawl into our room, we had to start laying a towel down at the door to act as a barrier. Speaking of towels, they always arrived dirty looking, so pack your own if you can. The resort food was just okay, the best restaurant was the grill’s steak dinner and the wings in the snack bar. The staff was friendly and accommodating… the bartenders were generous with the liquor but the brand is cheap so take it easily. Access to the beach, was amazing… we were able to rent jet skis and I got a massage, from Maria, high recommend her! Overall a very relaxing trip with the hubby would I go back probably not.

The property was very nice. The bed was comfortable and we had a very good view of the bay, which made our stay much better. If you wanted to do things on the bay, they suggested you to do so in the morning due to the wave in late morning. Food was okay, but some what limited since there were only 3 other locations and they could essentially be visited only once per stay. Other than that you had to eat at the buffet, which had limited selection. Overall, i would give this a rating of 3 stars.

Overall great resort. Housekeeping a little inconsistent day to day (had to keep asking for basic room supplies; coffee, bottled water). Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help though. (We received an extra restaurant booking to make up for it). Important to note that a lot of guests were overhead voicing some minor disappointments with the size / available options of the resort, comparing it to Mexico. Costa Rica is a very different country, and this was a smaller resort with a different focus, overall a more relaxed resort (however that’s what we wanted). That being said, there’s a lot to do (for free) and multiple options for day trips / tours from 3rd party companies onsite. Decent gym (albeit smaller), but due to the resort being built on a hill, the constant stair climbing (including getting to the ocean) is an alternative.

Check-in got things off to a rough start, unfortunately. The front desk person was unfriendly and provided zero information about the resort. We had to find out about resort activities, transportation around the resort, gym/spa, basically everything on our own as our stay unfolded. Our room was also not ready at check in time and we had to wait almost 2 hours to get into a room. The place grew on us as we got into the next day but the layout of the property is definitely a pain depending on which building you’re in. We tried calling for transportation several times during our stay but those at guest services and transportation didn’t answer the phone. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone with mobility challenges.

I stayed at two other resorts before arriving at Occidental Papagayo, and while the property itself has beautiful views and a great location, the overall experience was disappointing—mainly due to poor staff service. This was not a language issue—we had excellent service at two other nearby resorts where communication was never a problem. The rooms are outdated, though they were kept clean. The bathroom felt like something out of an old care facility—low water pressure, a broken faucet, and an overall worn-out feel. The security safe didn’t work, and no one made any effort to fix it, even after we reported it. Housekeeping never showed up, despite reminders. The shuttle system between the parking area and rooms was inconvenient. We booked an ocean view room but were given one almost entirely blocked by trees, with little to no view. The food was average at best—breakfast was decent, but the lunch and dinner buffet were below expectations. Although we made the most of our stay by enjoying the beach and scenery, the resort’s management and service were lacking. I won’t be staying here again.

Although I purchased a ‘Deluxe’ package from Expedia, when I asked about that at check-in (I am fully bilingual BTW) the rep told me that was the problem. They were able to move my son and daughter to a beautiful ocean view 2-bed room because I explained I could only book King for them through Expedia (this might have been user error on my part). The rep discouraged UPGing our experience to a higher level of svc and rm, so did not pursue. Drinks on our plan were weak (social drinker). Meal times throughout the property were restricted, including the snack bar. The food was mainly for sustenance and not flavor. The exception was the food at specialty dining ‘The Grill’ (which is the no air conditioner snack bar and probably the reason it closes at 5p). My son did not go to because he didn’t have the required long pants, but we found too late they did not enforce the dress code. Though everyone is professional, we did feel an undercurrent of disdain towards us. Only 4 spots for kayak lessons for all hotel, but no hotel rep to provide it. Said it was due to rain, but it was sunny. Not even kayak company knew why there wasn’t anyone from the hotel to provide the lessons. The water sports company, On The Beach, was a positive and competitive rates. Need car to go do things outside of property.

Property was nice, staff didn’t seem too knowledgeable at the front desk. I had some minor issues with getting bottled water, it seemed to be somewhat difficult. Also I paid for premium but a la carte restaurants were completely booked although I tied to book in advance, buffet food was just normal, nothing fancy.

This property is absolutely gorgeous. I was disappointed in the management of the the property. Arriving guests had to wait a long time to check In and to get simple questions answered. They never answered the phones at all. The property is huge so you have to walk a lot but they have shuttles that never seemed to come to our building. They have limited towels and the food was horrible. There were very limited food choices and it was bland to taste. We tried the specialty dinning and the food was not good at all. We had to check out early due to having to drive 3 hours to another airport. The attendant would not let us exit without a piece of paper and this caused us to travel late during the night. If the lines weren’t so long we should have just been able to leave. I would not stay here again unless they made a lot of changes to their iteniary.

Really enjoy the Occidental Papagayo resort! The majority of the staff is great, especially manager Enrique he helps me make my wife's birthday special, both times here! Other staff were so friendly and help when we need something ( Roy, and Carlos) thanks. Only wishes that next we stay here they provide local entertainment atleast once in weeks stay. And that we could have had restaurant dining 3 nights option instead of just 2 for week stay. We will be back!

Fuimos en temporada baja, habían pocos clientes en la propiedad; y a pesar de eso la actitud de servicio de las personas que atendían en estos restaurante dejó mucho que desear. Incluso en un par de ocasiones notamos que se trataba de forma diferente al turista nacional vs al turista extranjero. En cuando a la calidad de la alimentación del restaurante principal, algunas ocasiones estuvo bastante bien y en otras bastante regular; más tendiendo a una calidad baja. Los bartenders sí amables la gran mayoría, y bien el personal del lobby. Los horarios en los que se ofrece servicio de alimentación, tanto en el restaurante principal así como en el de snacks son muy limitados para ser un hotel todo incluido. Creo que hay gran oportunidad de mejorar, y más con la creciente competencia que llega a la zona; de cadenas hoteleras que se caracterizan por un alto nivel de servicio al cliente.

Beautiful area of Costa Rica. The beach was great, and had plenty of seating. It is public, so just know there are vendors, but they do not bother you repeatedly. The dining was good, and we enjoyed the Asian and Italian restaurants. The lobby bar bartender was fantastic, as well as the bartenders at the swim up bar. We stayed during the rainy season, so I don’t think it was as crowded as high season. We never had a problem getting a chair at either pool. The only issue we had was housekeeping. We had zero towels in our room when we checked in, and they did not bring any until the next day even after we called twice. They also repeatedly took our towels and did not replace them with new. We had to leave a note for housekeeping to please leave towels. Other than that, we had a great trip. It was the perfect size resort for a short 5 day trip.
Beautiful area of Costa Rica. The beach was great, and had plenty of seating. It is public, so just know there are vendors, but they do not bother you repeatedly. The dining was good, and we enjoyed the Asian and Italian restaurants. The lobby bar bartender was fantastic, as well as the bartenders at the swim up bar. We stayed during the rainy season, so I don’t think it was as crowded as high season. We never had a problem getting a chair at either pool. The only issue we had was housekeeping. We had zero towels in our room when we checked in, and they did not bring any until the next day even after we called twice. They also repeatedly took our towels and did not replace them with new. We had to leave a note for housekeeping to please leave towels. Other than that, we had a great trip. It was the perfect size resort for a short 5 day trip.

It was a very nice resort. Everything is easy walking distance. They do have a shuttle if you do not want to walk. Very close to the beach. Not a big beach but it is nice. It you want a massage their are people on the beach to do it plus if you want to do a tour there is someone on the beach who can arrange them. They are much cheaper than the hotel tours. Food was good and specialty restaurants were very good. Two pools and they were very nice. They have activitives arranged throughout the day for things to do. Leaving the resort is a little costly. Uber is the cheapest but can make arrangements through the hotel or on the beach if you want to go somewhere. Cocoa Beach is not too far and is ver nice and tours can be arrange there also. Shop around for tours to get your best deal from the above places. Airport about 1/2 hour away.

What I like most was the convenience of excursions (package for purchasing) and food options. Literally all inclusive food including drinks but for top shelf you’ll new to upgrade to premium. Beautiful property with several amenities including a private beach. I definitely recommend this resort. What I dislike to say the least… Shopping and overall neighborhood wasn’t walkable you had to uber or taxi to the nearest town since the resort sits on the top of a mountain.

An all inclusive almost beach resort. The hotel campus is very spread out with 20 separate buildings all with a unique view. If anyone in your party is disabled this is not the place to stay. They offer a shuttle service to the wet bar/beach area, which is still a short walk to the beach. The shuttle is offered at all hours but once you get dropped off the lobby is the only location to catch a return room trip. All meals and drinks including alcoholic ones are included in the pricing. Meals are mostly buffet style. Our room was spacious but lacked a dresser and a power source on both sides of the bed. We did have a gorgeous view. Room was cleaned everyday. All of the staff was pleasant and helpful. Off site excursion partners are pricey.

This property is situated on a hill facing a beautiful beach where you can see a lot of marine life. The grounds are very well kept and the views are beautiful. You have a choice of two swimming pools, including one with a swim up bar. The staff are wonderful, friendly and happy to accommodate you. The rooms are decent and fairly clean but could use updating. Definitely not 5 star as advertised. Beds were comfortable. On the negative side, there is very little entertainment and no shows in the evenings but There is a disco on site where you can play games like billiards. There are chairs on the beach but no attendant so you have to grab your own beach chairs and drag them to your preferred spot. They are big and heavy and not very clean. The area is beautiful and close to everything. I advise you to use Uber to get around as we feel we got ripped off using the transportation service offered by the hotel. Their prices are unreasonable and I wouldn’t have used them if I knew there was an option to use Uber. Also people who booked tours with the tour company at the hotel were not happy with their experience with them. Thankfully we booked with Viator and we had amazing excursions.

Really enjoyed our stay! The hotel is closer to the airport and Liberia which really matters for excursions. If you are going to the national parks like Rincón, Tenorio etc you are much closer than if you stayed in Tamarindo. The resort was nice clean and located right on the beach..We only had the basic food package level and I thought the buffet food was pretty good. Other guests were sour on the food quality the best way I can describe it is good quality wedding catering. It is good but food mad is mass batches is also not quite restaurant quality. If you are picky about food you can upgrade and eat at the sit down oriental or Italian restaurants which were amazing! Overall really good value for the price.

The best thing about Occidental Papagayo was no screaming kids and it had a very relaxed vibe. The staff was awesome and very friendly although in several cases they appeared to be shorthanded (at buffet meals, in the bar, there was no drink service around the pools). The facilities were good, the room was pretty nice. It is a short walk from the pools to the beach. The property is not very accessible for handicapped but there is an onsite shuttle tram that picks guests up and drops them off from their hotel rooms. Be aware that the tile in the room and the tile around the pool is extremely slippery. Wear some grippy sandals! It is unfortunate that in a week we only got to go to 2 a la carte dinners but both of them were excellent.

Property was nice, we stayed in the 2000 building. Shuttle was lousy, slow, never came at times had to call again. Dinners in the buffet area, worst food at a resort in my life, and I am well traveled. Breakfast at the buffet, was good. The Itailian restaurant and the Oriental restaurant were good. Resort was ok for the price, spa service was over charged for what you received. We went to the beach for spa for $40 and tip, and it was much better than the resort spa.

Overall the property was great. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The grounds were well maintained and I felt safe walking the property at all hours. Occidental is a smaller more intimate resort for adults only and I enjoyed my stay here very much. I will say that this is the first time I have stayed somewhere that did not have at least one snack or food option 24 hr. This did become an issue when we participated in the all day tours and came back after 930 PM and we missed dinner.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. We wanted to go somewhere that was easy to get to and that didn't need any extra planning ahead of time. All inclusive was great, deluxe room with a bay view was worth it, and so was the premier upgrade that got us into the premier bar/lounge. The food at the restaurants was much better than the buffet, but the buffet was still fine. Tours with On the Beach Tours were great, and we liked spending time at the beach every day. Overall, we were happy with this for an affordable and easy-to-plan honeymoon.

This resort only had 3 restaurants and one buffet. The 3 restaurants are first come first serve for signing up. If it’s booked out before you go to reserve, then you only have one buffet to go to. The entire resort uses this one buffet so there is always a line to get in. Breakfast was horrible. They had no variety of choices each day it was the exact same servings for breakfast. If there was things you did not eat then you were going to be hungry. Each morning I hoped for bacon and out of the 6 days I stayed, there were none, just the same lousy choices every morning. There wasn’t much to do on the resort as far as fun. They held the same activities every night and it was never a time where they held anything different. The pools always looked cloudy like there wasn’t bleach used in the pools so we only went in the pool once out of the 6 days we stayed. The beach on the resort was nice until the raccoons came out. Overall if you’re looking for a nice view and nothing to do go there. If you’re looking for fun and good food do not go here.

The property was okay. The food selection was lacking variety, pretty much the same selection everyday. There is no where to get food late night (after 11pm) unless you are paying. The entertain is none. They had a few activities going on at the main pool, but after 4pm music is turned off by the pool and that’s it. There is a swim up bar in the second pool but close at 5pm. There is a disco at 8, but the music is geared to Latinos. They need a variety of music for all cultures and ages. There were raccoons roaming the property freely (terrified). They offer no top shelf alcohol only rail. All and all my husband and I went to rekindle and reconnect and that’s what we did. I would not stay there again.

Property was very nice, staff was friendly, great service. However, the food at the buffet was not good and guests are only able to dine at the specialty restaurants every 3 nights. We had dinner at 2 or the 3. The Asian restaurant was good but the Italian restaurant was not. Also very limited entertainment. The disco was empty most of the time. They had bingo, karyoke, & a dj at the disco at various times and there were never more than 8 people there (and 6 of those were traveling together). They had a live saxophone player in the lounge one evening & a flute player another evening. Definitely not the resort to visit if you are looking for night life, live music, or dancing. Many other resorts have silent disco or white parties; something like this would be a good addition. The beach & pools were lovely, although pools close at 8PM and there is no hot tub. There were restaurant & shopping areas within a 10 to 15 drive from the property. We used Uber to get around off property. The food at nearby restaurants was MUCH BETTER than the resort offerings, which is disappointing considering we were paying for an all-inclusive resort, planning on having most of our meals there. We booked 2 excursions through the tour company at the hotel, On the Beach. The excursions were great but On the Beach kept giving us different prices for the excursions. Prices I received prior to arriving were lower than prices given once there and not honored. Definitely negotiate prices on tours.

The staff was pleasant and responsive...when we were able to reach them. The extensions listed for various departments (housekeeping, guest services, etc.) were never answered when called, so it was always necessary to dial 0 to reach the front deck. While the food was good, there was limited variety and I found myself eating the same things daily. The raccoons on the property have apparently been fed by guests because they were fearless and seemed eager to get close to guests/rooms. The main reason I liked the resort is because it was quiet and not overcrowded. Overall, my group enjoyed ourselves.

It was a very solid, all-inclusive hotel, and you definitely get what you pay for. Views were really nice, and the staff was all super helpful. But the food left a lot to be desired, and it wasn't the cleanest in some areas. Definitely not a bad stay, but also not the best in the area.

Very relaxing environment. The rooms were clean and the AC worked great. Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a shuttle service and it doesn't take long for them to come get you after you call them. Be prepared to walk up and down steep hills if you don't use the shuttle service. Beach was clean. Small pool by the beach has a swim up bar and that's where I spent a lot of my time. We saw monkeys in the trees by the swim up bar a few days.

Property is a little dated, large, very hilly, and extremely secluded. Depending on what building you are in, you will need to call the shuttle to get around. Nothing else to do in the area unless you take taxis or Uber. Drinks were very watered down. Buffets were super basic. Not a lot of variety. Was told there were 3 specialty restaurants, but steakhouse was closed the entire time we were there with no explanation as to why. Of the other 2, Italian was good, Oriental just okay. Pool with swim up bar very warm and cloudy/dirty. Larger pool was nice, but definitely needs more umbrellas. Basically no entertainment outside of an occasional musician in the main lobby. Activity staff should do more. Disco/sports bar very basic. The highlight of the resort is the staff. Nice, pleasant, and attentive. William is the best! Overall, we probably will not return.
