I liked the front room with a view of the square. The shower was clean and well maintained. The bed was a bit harder than I have at home, but comfortable. It is very handy for for King's Cross and Euston stations and the underground, and only a short walk for buses on Gray's Inn Road. The only real issue is that they can't serve breakfasts at the moment, but hopefully they can get it sorted for the future.

Very lovely stuff. The only downside is that there was no elevator, but it's just the building's style. I also didn't pay attention when I booked the room. I booked a room with a common bathroom and toilet. So pay attention when booking, make sure you are taking the right option for you. Overall very clean, very good stuff. And it was close to all main touristic attractions. Many bus stops and the Underground nearby.

The location of the hotel is very nice and very convenient if you use the train. The King's cross station is like 3 minutes walk and there's a lot of pubs and restaurants around. The shower room was clean as well as the toilet, but there is no sink in the toilet to wash your hands after you do #2. The television in the room was a big plus. I would say few things I do not like about my stay in this hotel. 1. The room can be extremely cold at night and early morning. Even the window is shut, you can still feel the cold air coming in. I have to use the folding chair in my room to put against the curtain so it'll blocked the cold air to come in. 2. If you need to pee at night time or any time of the day, you have to go one floor up to use the toilet. Yes, the shower and toilet are in different floors. 3. Drunk boys and girls at night arguing outside the hotel was very loud and you can hear it in your room even the windom is shut. All in all the hotel is safe and has front desk till 1am. They provide 2 keys when you checked - in. 1 keys for your room and the other is for the front door if you coming home after 1am.

About 1 min walking from King’s Cross station. Room and communal areas very clean. Good heating. Negatives: Narrow, wobbly stairs. Flat pillow. Toilets do not have a sink but there is a sink in your room. Thin walls so you can hear everyone around you in their rooms.

We only stayed because we had an early train ride from St Pancras. Was good enough for that. Shares bathroom is tiny. I can’t recommend this place but I can’t really give it a bad review. For you backpackers it’s ok. It’s a hostel, not hotel and I wish I knew that.

While it was good value, the hotel could have easily made itself much better with just a bit of work on the bathrooms and decor. Also being on the 3rd floor with a large suitcase on those small stairs is an accident waiting to happen. It was also very noisy. I understand being in the heart of London and great location, but even for the price I paid I would expect slightly more. Not recommended unless you are young and just using the hotel for a bed

Bed sheets clean and beds relatively comfortable. Location very good and not too noisy. Room and whole hotel very basic and hasnt been decorated since 60s, maybe?! Room tiny and very hot and stuffy. Ensuite aweful! Lots of mould and mildew, not clean at all. Shower head diagusting, yellow mould all over! Cheapest in area we could find for 3, but still massively overpriced and wish I spent £75 more for premier Inn!

Stayed 3 nights. Going by the size of the room it was about right. Had an en-suite . The room was really clean, towels everyday, and the cleaning staff were excellent. Great location, by Kings Cross, would use the hotel again for a short stay.

I was traveling solo so booked the two twin room with my own restroom. Unfortunately the two rooms next to me were sharing a shower and toilet facility which made for a lot of noice and knocking, it was hard to know if they were knocking on your door. The mattress would easily slid off the bed, plus it seemed quite tight for a twin. I ended up shifting the other twin bed next to mine which helped feel as though I would not fall off the bed 😂. I liked the location to the underground and rail stations, and it was clean and comfortable otherwise.

The Macdonald Hotel is a great place to stay if you’re on a smaller budget and want to have easy access to public transport (ie Kings Cross and St Pancras stations). Despite the busy area, the hotel is just far enough away to be quiet. The rooms were clean and very small but extremely well set up: there were outlets, trash bins, towels, a chair, etc all where convenient, making for a very efficient use of space. The bathroom was very clean. I would definitely stay here again. My only advisories would be that due to the narrow staircase, it would not be a good choice for anyone with knee/balance concerns. Also, if you tend to go to sleep early (before 9 PM) and are a light sleep, beware that there is a basketball court to directly outside so there will be a considerable amount of noise until about 10 PM at night.

Perfect for my requirements as a solo traveller just passing through. Close to kings cross/st Pancras. Room was smallish yet fine for a short stay. Tv worked fine. Kettle and tea/coffee. Small en-suite, again fine for me. More importantly it was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked really well which is a bonus when travelling.

The MacDonald Hotel is welcoming with extremely courteous and professional service. The manager and owner Saviour is very hospitable, helpful and kind. He changed our allocated room to one much more suitable to my disabled, special needs. We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay for one night. This was despite major construction works nearby. Argyle Square had a few homeless people in it but they did not adversely impact on our stay at all.

I had to stay in London overnight at the last minute for an early journey the next day. I was stressed and anxious. I had a warm and friendly welcome at the hotel and moved to a more accessible room so I wouldn’t disturb others when I left at 5am. The room was comfortable and the shared toilet and shower both absolutely clean. A very comfortable stay.

We loved our stay at the Macdonald Hotel! We were so welcomed and this stay really made our trip to London worth it. For the price we paid we got exactly what we anticipated. Cheap and cheerful hotel in a great location a short walk from King's Cross/St Pancras Station. The perfect base for exploring central London. It was clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly. They were happy to let us leave our luggage both before checking in and after checking out. What more could you want? We'll be back the next time we're in town.

Great little hotel minutes from kings cross station. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. The hotel itself is very quiet but can occasionally hear noise from the street but it didn't bother us. Very good value, would highly recommend.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, we were able to check in quickly and the room was clean and warm. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to st pancras tube station , so very convenient! Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed 3 nights. Going by the size of the room it was about right. Had an en-suite . The room was really clean, towels everyday, and the cleaning staff were excellent. Great location, by Kings Cross, would use the hotel again for a short stay.

Super close to a great transportation hub. Easy to get all over the city. Room is small but fine. For such a good location it is a good value—would choose it again

We loved our stay at the Macdonald Hotel! We were so welcomed and this stay really made our trip to London worth it. For the price we paid we got exactly what we anticipated. The photos online are exactly what was shown. The location is very convenient, there is train station less than 5 minutes away. If you need an affordable, simple place to stay this is for you! We will definitely be back for our next stay!

Within sight of King's X/St Pancras, less than 5 minutes walk from these stations. An effortless check in process. Good use of folding table to maximise room space. Also worth checking out is the regenerated Coal Drops Yard just beyond the stations. Recommended!

We stayed here twice either side of a trip to Paris. The staff were lovely and very accomodating, held some bags for us. The area is very convenient for the Eurostar. The kettle had an odd smell when we boiled it so we bought coffee instead.

I liked the front room with a view of the square. The shower was clean and well maintained. The bed was a bit harder than I have at home, but comfortable. It is very handy for for King's Cross and Euston stations and the underground, and only a short walk for buses on Gray's Inn Road. The only real issue is that they can't serve breakfasts at the moment, but hopefully they can get it sorted for the future.

Room was perfect for my 3 night stay. Even though the bath was shared, it was never an issue. Great for a comfortable place to sleep when visiting London with a heavy schedule. Convenient to tube and Kings Cross Stations; Not a lot of local convenience /food stores around - mostly found overpriced restaurants and overpriced Boots/M&S (b/c of Kings Cross - pricing is different in other areas) Room was a bit noisy due to facing street and current construction.

The location of the hotel is very nice and very convenient if you use the train. The King's cross station is like 3 minutes walk and there's a lot of pubs and restaurants around. The shower room was clean as well as the toilet, but there is no sink in the toilet to wash your hands after you do #2. The television in the room was a big plus. I would say few things I do not like about my stay in this hotel. 1. The room can be extremely cold at night and early morning. Even the window is shut, you can still feel the cold air coming in. I have to use the folding chair in my room to put against the curtain so it'll blocked the cold air to come in. 2. If you need to pee at night time or any time of the day, you have to go one floor up to use the toilet. Yes, the shower and toilet are in different floors. 3. Drunk boys and girls at night arguing outside the hotel was very loud and you can hear it in your room even the windom is shut. All in all the hotel is safe and has front desk till 1am. They provide 2 keys when you checked - in. 1 keys for your room and the other is for the front door if you coming home after 1am.

Great place to stay in London: safe, clean, quiet, convenient, and affordable. Just across the street from the train station and there are consequently a lot of options for food in the area (some are open late as well if you struggle with jetlag like I did the first couple nights). Any day-to-day essentials you might need will be no more than a 10 minute walk away. I will definitely stay here again I am ever on another solo trip in London. What a wonderful experience!

Nice, price friendly hotel with incredibly feiendly and helpful staff. All issues and requests were solved or met instantly, and with a smile. The toilet door for the shared toilet is a bit loud when closing, which can be a little bothersome at night. Other than that, I would reccommend MacDonald to anyone travelling on a budget. 2 minute walk from King’s Cross Station (a major transit hub) with connections to anywhere in the city. Lots of easy food-to-go options in the surrounding area, and possibility for shopping close by.
