Always a great stay. The restaurant choices within the hotel are the best in Bahrain. Sato Sushi is wonderful as is the staff. Typhoon bar has great drinks and great staff, as well. The front desk of the hotel is manned by professionals. Love staying here; the only issue is parking. It seems a lot of patrons who visit the restaurants in Adliya park in the hotel parking lot, leaving less spots for hotel patrons.

Nice hotel close to the shopping mall and only 15 minutes from the airport. Pool area is very tired with broken tiles and faded woodwork. Sunbeds are old and not enough side tables. Nice breakfast with huge fresh selection. Lots of other nice restaurants on site too. I would recommend staying here but pool area definitely needs a massive refurbishment. Hopefully now it’s a Marriot they will make the improvements needed

Staff and the main areas of the hotel are really nice. Our room however not so. We booked a non smoking room and the first thing you smelt was stale tobacco. The air con was so cold that the bed was damp and smelt like it had been damp for quite a while. It was so cold we turned off the air con but never got any sleep. Colder than camping in Wales in the spring. The decor is very dated and there was a very strange odour in the bathroom. The swimming pool was in need of a lot of repairs too. Lots of tiles missing and the edges were very rickety and felt unsafe. Stayed in quite a few hotels and this was one of the worst. Very disappointed as it wasn't cheap either.

Our first room was a smoking room and smelt awful. Thankfully the receptionist changed it for us. The new room was small and dark but okay. Nice friendly staff. Difficult to find parking in the hotel car park as it is near bars and lots of people use it who are not staying in the hotel. The pool was small and very young male heavy - not for us. It is convenient for walking to a couple of bars and a small shopping centre.

I’ve stayed here many times over the years, and it will always be my go to whenever I’m in Bahrain. The hotel is centrally located, making it very convenient whether you’re here for business or leisure. There’s a great selection of restaurants on-site, my favorite is the Japanese, followed closely by the Mexican. The highlight of my stay was spending the whole day at the pool, where Sunday and David took excellent care of me. They truly went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. Yes, this is an older hotel, and you notice it as soon as you walk in. But that’s never been an issue for me. I actually appreciate well maintained classic hotels, as long as they’re clean and have everything I need. Thank you, Gulf Hotel!

Big hotel with lots of space, fitness areas, outdoor swimming pool and different restaurants, including the highly rated Fusions by Tala. We stayed in one of the apartments, which was nice but the section it was in felt a bit tired. Overall the hotel is a great place to stay if you are in Bahrain. Particularly as it's not that far from the airport.

Enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Room was very clean and bathroom was awesome. Staff for the most part was very helpful and respectful. really enjoyed the Typhon Lounge where there was a live band and the ability to smoke hookah. The negatives, staff at the cigar lounge refusal to put the games on may people came and asked and they kept their TV's tuned to CNN. Some patrons left very upset as the very area for the game was full.

We found the hotel very enjoyable, although the only couple of complaints was that we were given just one bath sized towel and a hand towel for our second day, for two people. The other issue was very poor WiFi which I've never had before in this hotel. Other than that, the stay was very good.

There were also a few places to have a drink at the hotel. Good gym also. Cons - The hotel is old and the rooms are dated. Bad wifi. We originally booked a Executive Apartment but they were tired and cold at night with no heating function on the air conditioning. We were given extra bedding and a portable heater which was electrically unsafe. Not what we expected for a 5 start hotel. However we spoke to the hotel manager the next day after a cold night and were moved to a nice room on the 7th floor in the main building which was more modern and warmer overnight. We originally booked a Executive Apartment but they were tired and cold at night with no heating function on the air conditioning. We were given extra bedding and a portable heater which was electrically unsafe. Not what we expected for a 5 start hotel. However we spoke to the hotel manager the next day after a cold night and were moved to a nice room on the 7th floor in the main building which was more modern and warmer overnight. The hotel is lovely, good location, very clean and comfortable. The only downside to our stay was the work men doing work in the next room at 10.30pm!! My husband had to ask them to be quiet. We were given a free late check out for the inconvenience.

I had booked a room for a staff member arriving at the hotel at 4am after an international flight. I received an email earlier in the evening cancelling the room and I had no message or telephone call to explain why or if there was a problem to rectify it. After several calls I located a staff member to help and it turned out there was a problem with the credit card so the hotel just cancelled the booking. I gave the staff member another card and the booking was reinstalled but it was poor service and professionalism. The hotel knew his arrival time as I had organised a car through them to collect him at the airport.

Fantastic location but the check in was extremely slow, we had to wait over 45 mins in line to receive the keys to our room. The luggage service was also slow, I asked them to allow to take my own bags to the room. Other than that, room was clean and met our needs, it’s not the first time we stay here, but we decided to provide feedback to see some improvements in the future.

Had an excellent stay in a very well-equipped room. The staff at check-in were very helpful especially Asma who assisted us at the front desk. Pool area as beautifully maintained and managed as ever.

The receptionist gave us a smoking room so we had to go all the way to the room and then all the way back down to ask for another room. It was very rude considering we booked non smoking always. Aso the second day when we arrived to our room, we had zero towels. They forgot to leave us towels. We spent 20 mins calling but there was no answer on room service, house keeping, nor the lobby. It’s such a same since the breakfast and service of breakfast was nice.

Big hotel with lots of space, fitness areas, outdoor swimming pool and different restaurants, including the highly rated Fusions by Tala. We stayed in one of the apartments, which was nice but the section it was in felt a bit tired. Overall the hotel is a great place to stay if you are in Bahrain. Particularly as it's not that far from the airport.

Always a great stay. The restaurant choices within the hotel are the best in Bahrain. Sato Sushi is wonderful as is the staff. Typhoon bar has great drinks and great staff, as well. The front desk of the hotel is manned by professionals. Love staying here; the only issue is parking. It seems a lot of patrons who visit the restaurants in Adliya park in the hotel parking lot, leaving less spots for hotel patrons.

We have used the Gulf hotel many times over the years and always enjoyed our stays in both the hotel rooms and apartments. The staff are so friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for you. The pool is lovely and there are loads of on-site dining options. Or if you don’t want to eat in the hotel, there are plenty of other restaurants within walking distance. We love the place so much we are already looking at booking another stay next year!

Nice hotel close to the shopping mall and only 15 minutes from the airport. Pool area is very tired with broken tiles and faded woodwork. Sunbeds are old and not enough side tables. Nice breakfast with huge fresh selection. Lots of other nice restaurants on site too. I would recommend staying here but pool area definitely needs a massive refurbishment. Hopefully now it’s a Marriot they will make the improvements needed

This is a great hotel with lots of incredible dining options. I sampled 5 of the restaurants and was never disappointed. Staff throughout the hotel and restaurants were extremely helpful and friendly. Although I didn’t visit them, the hotel is within walking distance to two large size malls.

This is my 5th stay at the hotel due to working in the area and the first time during Ramadan. I bought breakfast when I booked but was informed that rather than the normal 6am opening it was 7am due to Ramadan. No good for me as I had to be on site for 7am. No mention of this when booking the hotel. The hotel allowed me in to the breakfast area but others who had paid for breakfast in the same situation as me, weren't so lucky. Only cereals and coffee were available at this time. The quality of the food, especially the hot dishes is definitely not as good as previous stays: less variety; poorer presentation. Previously I would have scored the food 9/10, now nearer 7/10 - change of chef or Ramadan influence? Finally, coming down to dinner about 7:30pm, the whole dining area is devastated, not one clean table to sit it with mess everywhere. Again, on previous visits, staff would clear away your plates immediately, this trip, plates were left stacking up with food on the floor, tables and seating not cleaned up. Must say that I was disappointed. I understand that it is Ramadan but a large majority of the guests are non-muslim with a job of work to do in KSA. I may try another hotel for my next visit.

The problem with the Gulf are the entitled young people from a nearby Arab country that come back drunk, pound on walls and this time tried to open the adjoining room door. Think about it: you are asleep and are awakened to this aggression and craziness and then they are trying to break into your room. Not the first time I’ve experienced this type of thing. I understand that a hotel needs to balance pleasing those of a certain culture who come to the hotel for young drunk fun. I get it. But place yourself in the shoes of the person who is asleep and is awakened to someone trying to break into their room. I mentioned it to the staff and his response was, “you didn’t unlock the door though and he didn’t come inside.” That’s true. But the response is disconnected from the actual assaultive nature of the event. Would he take the same view if he was in the car with his wife and a drunk man aggressively tried to open his wife’s door? So, to summarize, I love the gulf, love the pool, love going there, but you have to deal with what I described above including staff that are more focused on keeping the others returning more than you. We’ll be back but we’ll know what we are getting into (we love the pool)
