Great location, friendly staff, lots of parking.

There was no elevator, for two elderly women who had to struggle to get their luggage upstairs. The desk clerk directed us to a restaurant several blocks across the very busy street only to find out that it was only open for dinner time. There was no ice available. The room was not very clean. The door didn’t fit very well, and the lock was pretty flimsy. We only felt comfortable by leaving our packed suitcases in front of the door for safety. There were no hand towels or face clothes. We only had one bath towel each. Wi-Fi at our location was practically nonexistent. The only good things about about this location were the price and the working air conditioner. We would not recommend this place.

It was a pleasant, clean comfortable room with plenty of space, fridge, microwave. The one annoyance was that not only were we upstairs, but the path outside the rooms had extra stairs in several places. We could not just roll our suitcases, but had to frequently lift them. I don't know whether there is an elevator, but even if there is, this room would not have been wheelchair-accessible.

The room wasn’t cleaned when we arrived & had to wait half an hour for it to be cleaned. The staff seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing. One way in & out, onto a four laned main road, was horrendous. The smell was overpowering. The spa had no plug so we couldn’t use it. The toilet roll holder was broken & the roll just sat on the edge of the spa bath. The vanity was covered in contact covering. The door was missing the security chain & the door handle & lock felt as if it was about to fall off. There was a sign under the mirror saying the hairdryer was in the wardrobe but there was no hairdryer. I asked for one at the reception & they couldn’t find one. I asked them to put one in the room during the day, but that wasn’t done. I asked again in the afternoon and it took ages to find one. The microwave has a sign on the door to cover your food when heating & to clean it after you finished. There was nothing to cover it with or to clean it afterwards. There was an ironing board in the wardrobe but it didn’t have any cover on it. There was only 2 cups &1 teaspoon in the room. No plates, glasses, crockery or cutlery. There was a big sign out the front, saying Restaurant open 7 days. I asked if they had a restaurant & the receptionist said no they didn’t. The room had a lot of old water damage in it. The particleboard wardrobe, at the bottom where the old water damage was, was falling to bits as the timber was just all falling off it. No spare blankets or pillows.

1 night stay as had early morning flight so was what we expected for the price. Staff very helpful as needed ground floor room due a disability. Couldn’t find remote for tv and no buttons on unit to turn it on.

Stayed here in the past. Older motel . Clean , huge room , comfortable bed and they have extra pillows. Close to dfo so u can walk.

Amenities. 2nd rate. Dirty. Hair on tops in bathroom. Loose toilet. Freezer discussing. Carpet lots of fluff & metal filings. Fire alarm disarmed. Balcony filthy. Spa- wouldn’t even use.No TV WiFi (as advertised) or restaurant. Cobwebs.Furniture decrepit. Oh a big room absolutely

Says restaurant and spa facilities get to my room and my spa doesn’t work and no restaurant at all

No glass at all in one window frame. Just a flyscreen stickey taped to the frame. Rooms look nothing like the pictures. Beds were all different. Sheets were old and had dirt on them. Bugs throughout the room. Surfaces were not even clean. Carparking was good. Location is withing walking distance to shops. But rooms are not worth more than $50 a night.

It was clean but basic the curtain pelmet was 3inch out of level the shower tape fitting was loose and the television screen was damaged. There was no in house restaurant at weekends but there are takeaways nearby. It's only 15 mins from the airport and right on the main road so easy to find

The Essendon motel reception staff agreed to a one night refund because we left the premises due to the very dirty unhygienic conditions. Spit on the walls, dirt that looked like blood. The fridge had no shelves in it. We were told to arrange the refund with Wotif. Wotif said to sort the with Essendon reception. We rang the receptionist and were told they would ring back but never did. Very disappointed

Awful experience. Food from last person still in fridge (pizza slice on shelve).Dirty toilet, mirror and gross stuff on side of bed table. Very old style room - not like website states. Old yellow plugs - not enough. Cracked tiles and torn furniture. Rattling fridge all night and holes in curtains that the light shone in all night. Hardly slept bed not comfortable. Asked for a refund or part money back and was told - No your room is cleaned😡👎 Never ever ever ever book at Essendon motel.

Black would in shower and food splashes on the wall. Generally dirty everywhere. Tv is also broken in the room I was assigned

booked this property for a 1 night stay, as the place i normally stay was booked out, I would not reccommend this motel to any-one, Bathroom was filthy, hair in sink and on toilet lid and seat, soap remennents in shower drainhole, The drawers had been nailed shut , there was 1 lamp, which i took to the office when i checked out as it was faulty falling apart, Which i recieved a slight shock, The floor was filthy, and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for a month, The door in and out of the room was a problem , and had to push with shoulder just to get in, , and even harder to get out, Lucky my neighbour heaved it open for me, I complained to the girl in the office and said who ever does the maintenance and CLEANING here needs to be given a stern warning or marching orders, Would have to be the worst Motel/hotel accomodation i have ever stayed at, and i've stayed plenty all round Australia and the world, TRAVELLER BEWARE, read the other REVIEWS, I didn't but will be from now on

The room was dirty and smell really bad

Room was good. But intermittent unreliable tv reception and some stations no sevice at all. Antenna or connector should be looked at.

Poor internet

The mattresses seemed like they were 100 yr old bed was like a banana shocking could not get a descent sleep

It’s ok for super budget accomodations. Was definitely not worth what we were charged at all. The rooms are not well maintained. The bathroom window was broken. The sink hole was broken. The furniture has chips in it. Someone was screaming late a night. A homeless person was going through the bins. The door number fell off our door. Good points were the room was clean and the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.

Essendon motel is in a great location, just off the Bulla Rd exit. The rooms are quiet, despite being close to the freeway. The blankets/doona are light, so for a cold night we needed to run the heating all night. Recommend bringing extra blankets if you can.

Office staff were friendly and polite, the room was clean and tidy, but - The door was jamming, no gap between the door and the frame. 1 towel in the room for 2 people. The mattress sank in the middle, my wife and I had sore backs in the morning. The refrigerator was not working. We weren't game to try the TV or the A/C. Left at 8.30 am, office unattended, left key in room as the was no key dropbox. I understand that this was a "budget motel" but never again.

Our room was spacious with easy off street parking. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The appliances- TV, microwave and hot water jug- were all new but perhaps ours was an overflow room. It was very dated and required refurbishing with no bedside lights or wall decoration. The bathroom was large with a good shower facility. The beds were comfortable and suitable for tall guests. Our stay (7 nights) was comfortable but that room requires a refurbishment to provide a more pleasant ambience.

Very run down property, on many doors you could see that handles had been forced, some were actually broken. Beds were terrible, sunken and worn out, broken tiles in bathroom, shower screen door jambs, curtains hanging off rail. Sheets were clean, but towels were past their use by date. Nice TV but Wifi kept dropping out do you could not stream on it. General cleanliness around the property wasn't great. Would not stay there again, glad it was only one night!

Room was run down could do with a refurb fridge was noisy no bath Mats 1 dining chair for 2 people lots and lots of smoke butts outside only 2 pillows one each overall I only paid just over $100 per night so for the price I can’t really complain only other thing was we had a random guy knock on our door looking for someone then proceeded to know on every body else’s doors

the rooms were pretty basic ,tea/coffee,fridge,microwave,toaster.good size bathroom and shower,comfortable queen bed,tv,table and chairs.5min walk to bus and 4 stops to train station,10 min walk to dfo.great public transport with bus,tram and train.the staff were really friendly,the place neads good spruce up,if your fussy its probably not for you.price was good considering it was cup week that i stayed.would stay their again if i was in melbourne

We flew in at 1am and loved the after hours service, 1 phone call and we were able to get in our room, we did prebook

The main door lock was not secured when asked to fix it then did get any response Would not go there again

Lady at the front desk was kind and helpful. Went out of her way when we had a problem with a tour bus not showing up. Was able to get an Uber to meet the tour bus somewhere else and did not miss our tour we planned many months in advance.

Found the receptionist rude to talk to.

Cluttered front office. Called phone number when arrived as desk was un attended which rang at desk, only one staff member was on and away cleaning rooms and should have a dirverted phone on them not to front desk. When spotted us called out saying she would be there soon and proceeded to clean rooms. We waited a total of 45 minutes to get a room key. I had previously stated I'd be coming early due to going to good things and arrival time which was okayed by management. Which then made us late to good things missing part of a set. Disorganization of staff not having a diverted phone or hands free portable phone makes life difficult for both customers/guests and staff. And better training not to leave guests waiting and to have an organised reception office that looks clutter free and inviting and easy for staff to find things would be beneficial as the staff member was scrambling around trying to find things like paperwork to sign and the eftpos machine under clutter. Stressed staff makes an uncomfortable stay. I also handed the keys to the same lady while she was cleaning on the way out rather than into the reception as it was pointless to leave them in the unlocked box. It can make it easy for someone to steal keys and stay for free.

Standard items like water glasses, face washers and hair dryers not provided. Room not cleaned after first day. Staff attitude terrible. It felt like we were imposing on them. Will never go back!

Easy access, fairly central, reasonable rates.

Super convenient to drive to from the airport. Our room was dated but very clean, very quiet. Would absolutely go back.

I had my 12 yr old Granddaughter with me. She locked her phone in the room. It cost $50 for a staff member to open the door....what a bloody ripoff. Also, there was no cutlery or crockery for buying a take away meal to eat in the room. We needed to share one very tiny 1/4 sized "teaspoon" for both coffee and food. I went to the office to see about cutlery and it was dark and locked. That was about 7.30 and they were supposed to be open till 10....haha.Extremely bare necessities in the room....no hairdryer.

If you get what you pay for was a place this is it need to updated tvs in rooms and plates and bowls and cutlery

I like the friendly welcome, no waiting time. Need some improvement in little convenient things like glasses, mini bottle of water, a phone for emergency. Otherwise my overnight was quiet and cosy.... love the close chinese take away resto.

We only needed 1 room with 2 beds, but somehow we paid for 2rooms.1 room was upstairs and 1 downstairs and a distance away Pillows not good, no microwave in room. No glasses for wine or drinks. 1 teaspoon in room which looked like a jam jar spoon. Shower head was broken. Would be ok for overnight stay but not a few nights. We had to go out and get knives, forks and plates. Rooms were not what pictures were lead to belive room would be like. We stayed at other Motels on the way home which was cheaper and more equipped in the kitchen area.

Still reasonable value, however no remote control for the TV, not even one teaspoon and only one pillow anywhere.
