Regency Park Hotel, Health Club & Spa

Room was very comfortable and spacious. The swimming pool and spa area were really good, all towels provided, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all included. Restaurant and bar were good too. Lovely food. A great hotel.

It was a very good experience, with excellent staff and a good spa and pool, although the jacuzzi had a lot of chlorine. The only real issue was that the lift was out of order.

The pool and gym were closed very disappointed as paid more for a hotel with a gym and pool. Lift not working. Everyone complained, but no aplogies. The hotel said the pool and gym were free to use so wouldn't offer a partial refund. Looks like it was a nice hotel 20 years ago, and now dated and not looked after.

Great stay at this modern hotel. Enjoyed the facilities of Pool, spa, jacuzzi. Not too far from Thatcham or Newbury. Handy to stay for Newbury racing. Beds very comfortable, helpful friendly staff.

I was warmly greeted and all locations and timings were pointed out to me.My room was had a king-size bed, a two seater settee and a good quality writing desk. The room was immaculately clean and the walls were softened by coordinated artwork. There were large opening doors to a Juliet balcony, and this made the room very comfortable indeed. One of the highlights of my visit was the spa. This was very spacious with a large swimming pool and a very clean and modern hot tub. Both the pool and the tub were maintained at a very comfortable temperature. Breakfast at the hotel was a relatively simple affair, but because the dining room was very well presented, it felt more upmarket. The staff were quite attentive and friendly. I requested a late check out by an hour, and this request was received warmly. This fact, however, wasn’t communicated to housekeeping and they did actually disturb me at 11:15. Several times I had dealings with a young gentleman of colour who was working in the restaurant at breakfast (sadly, I don’t know his name). He chatted to me quite animatedly and mentioned that he was working there for the summer whilst he was not in education. This young man was a great credit to the hotel and, if you have a recognition system for staff, I would very much like to nominate him for an award. Overall, this was the most enjoyable visit and the hotel certainly delivers within its grade.

Lovely big rooms, very confortable bed and goid to have use of leisure facilities. Staff friendly and helpful - relicated me to a feound floor room as lift not working which i appreciated. Plenty of parking close to reception. I dudnt eat at the hitel so cannot comnent on food.

There was no mention when booking that the lifts did not work. For someone with a bad back, that is a great issue. Duty manger said it never worked in the time he’d been there! Why was this not in the advert to warn people? The keycards did not work over the weekend so we had to be let into our room every time we left it hence not much privacy. The swimming pool water was freezing cold and people unable to make use of it nor it being put out of use. For a cold season like mid-February, that was shocking. Three under 5 went into the jacuzzi with their parents although there were signs that under 12 were not allowed to use spa facilities. The receptionist came in, saw the children and left without challenging the parents. Those parents took the children into the jacuzzi to warm them up after the freezing pool water but I believe that this was a blatant breach of H&S rules and the receptionist at the desk simply didn’t care! I requested housekeeping. That service didn’t come until mid afternoon and then left a bag of dirty laundry outside my door. One mishap can occur but several means that there is a lack of care and a form of dishonesty/deceit by both management and the staff. Sorely disappointed. I emailed the Operations manager about my experience and they have not bothered to respond! As long as they got their money, why have repeat customers?!? Overall, and I’ve been taking spa breaks 3-4 times a year - a shocking experience and one never to repeat at that place!

Room a little dirty in the bathroom on the shower curtain mainly. Beds really comfortable and so quiet too. Bar is nice

We stayed for one night after a day at Longleat. The check in was smooth and they kindly put us on the ground floor as we have a baby and a lot to carry in. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean and decorated nicely. Plenty of room for the 3 of us! We had a nice patio where we could see our car easily. Dinner in the restaurant was great, and they were also very helpful accommodating our baby with food and water for him. At night, it was rather noisy though with people banging doors all through the night and also what sounded like a rave in the car park. The mattresses and pillows are a bit hard as well but i do have a bad back so these might suit other people. Overall, we had a lovely time at the hotel.

Staff lovely along with room which was clean and quiet. Breakfast was very good. No USB plugs in room and lift didn’t work which was an inconvenience.

I booked this place due to reviews and price. But it was full of bugs! I counted 36 moths 27 spiders and a handful of others I didn’t know what they were… that was the hallways… the lift also didn’t work… in my room it had a broken bath. And the cups and teaspoons were still filthy with sugar and tea marks in the cups, that’s the day after they have cleaned the room and supposedly changed them! Also plates and pots, cutlery etc were left outside rooms from Friday evening and still on floor or radiators in hallways on the Sunday!

The hotel itself was good but the cleanliness of our room was disappointing. we had pillows covered in questionable stains and had things crusted over them. the shower didn’t work would come out freezing cold then scolding hot. bed sheets also weren’t the cleanest

Check in was smooth. When we entered the room, it felt a little bit cold.There was a wall mounted heater and I tried to switch it on, but that wasn't working. On the hotel details, it said if extra heater required contact reception. I rang reception there was no answer and I tried again occasionally for half an hour unsuccessfully. Then I went down to reception and there was a male staff. He said there is no heaters available and there is nothing else he can do. Even though the hotel was generally clean the toilet was stained. Bedding was clean but didn't feel fresh. The bed didn't feel very comfortable.

Breakfast a little cold but decent choice and room clean. Bedroom was lovely and spacious. All staff were amazing.

Quietly situated hotel. Good breakfasts especially when plated to order (over Christmas). Deluxe bedroom (222) very dated, especially bathroom. Corridor suffocatingly warm despite radiator being turned off (underfloor heating?). Entrance and public areas well presented, some staff friendlier than others. Housekeeping lady (originally from Hungary) deserves special praise; reception staff a bit frosty. No functioning lifts in hotel, although assistance offered on arrival. Hotel previously used by Home Office to house asylum seekers although most I believe have now moved on from the area. Rooms do not smell fresh, some above kitchen and others overlook refuse area to rear of hotel. Not sure if I will return.

Couldn't see where the refit money had been spent, apart from the new floor in the bar. Someone pocketed a lot of money. Lifts not working. 2020/21 this was one our favourite hotels, but looks like the Newbury Hilton from now on August, England, 2024 and you could only get wifi in the reception/bar area. If you need wifi for work, conference calls etc, then forget it. On the plus side, the staff were lovely.

Had to get them to change rooms. The first room had poo and sick odours. Was then upgraded to a slightly larger room. This was OK but the rooms are a bit outdated with no Air con. The safe was left locked so wasn't useable and the facia of the safe was damaged.

We stayed here when visiting the area for a wedding. Everything was perfectly adequate, the rooms are perhaps a little tired but wow, the water pressure in the shower is amazing! We tried the bar which had a couple of OAPs in so there wasn’t much of an atmosphere. I don’t think there were too many guests when we stayed but then gave a very peaceful, relaxing, stay. Didn’t get chance to use any of the leisure facilities, sadly.

A bit dated and no air con in the 'higher the' room, made the sleep uncomfortable.

On arrival, receptionist was not very happy. I had to use both hands with all my strength to open the room door, I assume new carpets but door should be skimmed. Was on the ground floor and the people above kept me up until 2am, I did also call reception at 1am. No aircon, which I knew but when I asked for a fan I was told there was one in the cupboard (which there was not). Overall experience not great, more than likely won’t use again.

Business trip away for a couple of nights. I had to wait a little while to check-in but when I did it was fine. I asked for a room with a fridge and this was right which I really appreciated. The room its self was really spacious and clean, but very tired. It was also SO hot I had to have the fan on ALL the time, which wasn’t ideal. And the window to the room wouldn’t open which wasn’t ideal. The spa area was nice but really busy. Gym was good too! On check out - I handed my key in & that was it - no how was your stay or anything from the staff which was disappointing

No one on reception place was empty has to shout to see if anyone there Lady came to reception and gave us our key. Lift was out of order had to walk up 4 flights of stairs I have mobility issues. Room very dated but very spacious. No biscuits very limited toiletries went to ask for more milk and towels had to shout again for staff asked for milk and extra towel as only one in bathroom and lady very pleasant. Food expensive so went to local pub no room service as far as I could see in book in bedroom. Got woke up at 6.30 am by fire alarm had to vacate building to be told at the bottom of stairs everything is fine. Went to breakfast at 8 to be told no buffet breakfast will be served as they only had a handful of guests which surprised me as it was Octoberfest at Newbury races that day. Breakfast was ok was just disappointed with the whole stay really. The staff are friendly but for a 4 star hotel you would expect to be dressed in smart clothes . We stayed in Bicester Golf and Spa hotel day before that was pushing a 4 star but was very nice. I would say the Regency was more a travelodge standard maybe and was very expensive the Bicester Hotel was about £30 cheaper and we had a large ground floor room and Spa really nice. The view from the room was very limited. I’m not sure why they put every resident on the 2nd floor with no lift when the whole hotel was empty.

Pros: Economical, clean, no issues with checkin. Cons: Elevator was out of order and, naturally we were assigned a room on the top floor. Windows were closed upon arrival so it was very stuffy until several hours into the night

Overall, our experience at the Regency Park Hotel exceeded our expectations, and we cannot thank Daminda and Nissanka enough for their exceptional service. Nobody on reception when we arrived and nobody at the bar to serve a drink, we waited approx 10 minutes at the bar

Overall good value for money. No working room key system during our visit seriously impacts rating. Had to wait for staff to take to and open room on every occasion. Check in delayed as not enough staff to take guests to rooms.

Stayed one night on way home. Friendly efficient check in, to a newly refurbished room on the ground floor. Booking included a 3 course evening meal and breakfast. Bar staff (James) very friendly and efficient as he also was at the breakfast reception. Emma really good at serving us and sorting out allergy problems with the chef for the evenng meal. All food was well prepared and delicious.

This is a hotel that is trying to get back on its feet, staff are working long hours to cover shifts but keep on smiling and are tentative to your happiness whilst you stay here, we got a free upgrade so ask and if they can they will accommodate. We had a wonderful time here and would come back to see how the progress is as they get back to hotel trading, evening food was amazing very well presented and tasted amazing, a big shout out to Joe and Rosie who went above and beyond and the hours they did well hats off to too youngsters willing to give it a damn good go to be helpful in every way, yes the place is in need of some TLC in places but over time I am sure these areas will be worked on, the most important thing here is to recognise that the staff are doing everything they can to make you feel special. Now on to the spa well Necy was absolutely wonderful she made you relaxed and the pedicure was the most amazing one either of us have had highly recommended. Over all yes needs some work, but this did not dampen our stay, it’s the staff that made this stay wonderful and we will be back soon. Referring to a few previous reviews regarding the surrounds requiring a gardener, yes it’s a bit unkept but remember you’re not staying in the car park and once your into the hotel, unless your a smoker there’s no need for the weeds to bother you.

Enjoyed our stay. Room was excellent and a huge bed!!! We had to attend a funeral the following day so it was really close and convenient for us. Loved the hotel so much, we decided we may come and stay longer to explore the locality which was my childhood home area. Only minor issue or suggestions would be that especially in this recent hot weather, supply of a couple of small bottles of water in the in room fridge would be a nice touch for what they cost, and most hotels now supply tissues in the room. Otherwise no issues. 5 star!!

Lovely hotel stay at a good price. The hotel has an inviting visual appearance, staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable, with a desk, and tea making facilities. The restaurant was clean and well presented and service was to a good standard. The food though quite pricey was of very good quality. Breakfast offered a good selection of choice of a good standard. The swimming pool and spa facilities were clean and a nice addition. Overall a lovely hotel that was good value for money

Nice hotel, lovely surroundings, the breakfast was well cooked and the staff were amazing.a bit far out if your wanting a bit of nightlife but a 8 quid taxi ride gets you to the local pub thats if you dont want to use the 24 hr hotel bar which i found was good.the beds in the room were amazing and the most comfy ive ever slept in.i would stay here again

Great room size. Excellent value for money. Good breakfast. Nice public areas. Beds perhaps need an upgrade but ok for a couple of nights. Excellent location for visiting family

Noisy in the corridor doors banging and noisy from other rooms poor sound proofing. Shower war poor shower and bath taps on at same time as showing,hot water was temperamental . Breakfast was poor not all available only 1 person on service could not keep up with stuff running out and it was not that busy In The breakfast room

Biggest issue was the breakfast options being very small in variety and no vegan options available. Fruit option was limited to two types of melon which coffee was disappointing as it was from a machine rather than a barista machine.

Disappointed. We were woken up at 11.35 by drunken party goers who made noise in the corridor until around 1am. The cooked breakfast was cold, despite the hot lamp. The leisure facilities closed as we arrived and did not open until 8.30am.

The evening meal was very poor, i asked for steak and could not cut through it, after it was re done it was still the same, very poor quality meat being used.
