Parking can be a challenge at busy times. I didn’t expect much due to room cost, so i wasn't surprised when i turned up to what appeared to be a 1980's style themed hotel. No lift, so i can imagine people with mobility issues could have a problem staying here. My room was on the top floor. Decor was very dated. Bed quite hard, pillows were too soft. Wall lamps had dust and cobwebs hanging from them. Toilet seat was loose and slipped to side when seated sometimes. Lighting levels seemed very low in bathroom. Wardrobe had ample space and tea/coffee making facility was a bonus. Breakfast options were adequate and reasonable service

Only stayed the one night having stayed in Newcastle before it is in the good location however the hotel itself is quite dated now and probably need of a refurb the car park is very small for the size of the hotel. Staff are very attentive and friendly.

My room was on the top floor, no lift, room was cold. My partner struggled to get into the shower as the doors didn’t give good access and the shower was raised about 1ft leaving it dangerous when stepping out, fear of slipping. Staff however helpful and friendly.

Room quality was poor, stains on the carpet, chair and desk. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned well. The bedding appeared clean but there was stains on the base of the bed. Wouldn’t recommend staying here unless there is nowhere else available.

The hotel itself is an attractive building with friendly staff. The room and bathroom was a good size and it was nice to have the added bonus of a bath as well as a shower overhead. Unfortunately our stay was let down by the cleanliness of the room, it was clear that the room had not been hoovered. There were hairs in the bathroom and dirty tissues in one of the drawers. This really is a first in a room that should have been cleaned. We were only staying one night so I didn’t complain and cleaned up myself minus the tissues. We arrived in 30c heat and the sun was on our room, curtains open and windows closed. Due to this, it made the room uncomfortably hot so I would recommend that you request the windows be left open for your arrival. We stayed in room 2 and the road can get noisy too. Overall I would stay again but would have to insist that the room was cleaned properly.

Unfortunately our staff had to leave the property after one night as the room was filthy. There was mould on the walls, a large stain on the mattress, dirt and hair on the carpet and a very stale, mouldy smell in the room. The hotel refused to give us a refund. We definitely won't be staying here again and wouldn't recommend staying to anyone.

Great for the price (£70 for the night). The wall's have absolutely no sound proof so can hear everything next door. The room itself is nice and spacious, with coffee etc. The cooked breakfast was a highlight and would give 5* for this. Was 9.50 a person and included tea/ coffee and orange and apple juice. Would fully recommend to anyone okay with being to hear the person next door

The reception staff were very polite. It just seems to be stuck in the 1990s. The room was freezing. The heating didn’t work. The photographs did not represent the room at all. My room cost way over a hundred and less than one fifty pounds for two nights In Stoke. On a Tuesday. I realise that it’s not a huge amount of money. But, to be staying in what looked like a 1950s Communist Russia flat, compared to the two phones at the bottom - that are from the hotels website, is just not on. The bed was ridiculously unforgiving. I’m well aware of how much I paid and therefore it’s not going to be The Savoy, but don’t advertise it as a bright, sun dappled Disney paradise, when it’s not that at all.

Receptionist was absolutely lovely! Room was very basic and not the freshest- stains on chair and duvet, bit dusty. Lack of shower gel, shampoo and hairdryer. Very dated and tiny telly. Not a. ideal room but fine to stay in for a night. Can forgive the lack of amenities because of how cheap it was. Overall, it was fine.

The staff were all amazing! Full of local knowledge and really helpful. My room wasn't one from the website, clean but basic. Nothing to complain about for sure. Only tiny issue is the car parking. I had to park away from the hotel by day, and got the final space at night. Again - not a disaster. Would for sure stay here again

Professional, friendly team make everything run like a dream. Perfect beds, excellent breakfasts, knowledgeable staff and friendly atmosphere. Only minor flaw was the Annex rooms just need a slight modernisation.

Was given a room in the Anex across the car park . It was terrible, cold and dirty but I told the lady receptionist the next day and she was lovely. She moved us into the main hotel and gave us a lovely room which was clean and warm and the bed was comfy. Only complaint was thick dust in top of radiator.

It's a cool property, but poor staff communication. I paid for breakfast but was not told breakfast ends by 9am, unlike in other hotels where breakfast extends to 10am. I was also issued the wrong receipt from a rude receptionist.

The building itself is old and as a result has a lot of charm, I needed somewhere to stay close to stoke hospital but didn’t want to break the bank, this hotel didn’t, the staff were all friendly bed was clean and comfy, I will say take toiletries though as the ‘complimentary’ ones consisted of 2 small soaps. Breakfast was lovely and worth the extra expense

It was quite and well connected to the under-lyne town centre. But around the area it was mainly all road there wasn't a nice place to have a walk. Appart from that all good.

Not far to walk into town. Not very scenic in immediate area. Good size car park. Large bar area. Bed comfy, pillows not so. Room very basic and a little unattractive. Very good value for price paid.

The hotel we felt was a bit tied. Had a problem with the heated towel rail which I made them aware of. Staff were ok and the parking was good. It was conveniently situated being in walking distant of the town.

The accommodation is basic but great for exploring the area. The staff are excellent and really helpful. The restaurant is great and the food is excellent. We will return again if in the area. The hotel recommended going to the Wedgwood factory which was a full day visit and really enjoyable.

Disappointed as thought it was a 3 star hotel. The receptionist was very friendly. We came back from the venue just before 10pm and the man on reception said the bar was closing in 10 mins , so we left. The room was very disappointing. Very tired, no glasses in bathroom , no shampoo or shower jel and no hairdryer. The bath was chipped and discoloured on the base. The slip proof bathroom floor was coming away from the walls and the walls were that thin, you could hear your neighbours as if they were in the same room. The pillows badly needed replacing as very flat and crumpled. The brown blanket throw was very old . I must say the bedding was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Great for the price (£70 for the night). The wall's have absolutely no sound proof so can hear everything next door. The room itself is nice and spacious, with coffee etc. The cooked breakfast was a highlight and would give 5* for this. Was 9.50 a person and included tea/ coffee and orange and apple juice. Would fully recommend to anyone okay with being to hear the person next door

Had a great time at the hotel friendly staff comfortable bed, we had lunch before we went to the theatre. The breakfast was lovely as well you can have continental and full English.

It's a cool property, but poor staff communication. I paid for breakfast but was not told breakfast ends by 9am, unlike in other hotels where breakfast extends to 10am. I was also issued the wrong receipt from a rude receptionist.

Room was clean but very tired . In dire need of a paint /refurb . Bed was comfortable and hot shower . Looked like sort of place for contractors. Pub joined was nice but very quiet for a weekend and overpriced.

Tremendous value, I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality considering the budget price. My only (very minor) criticism is that breakfast coffee was too weak.

Having previously stayed at this hotel and had a not so great stay we decided to give it a go again as we should support local amenities. The room we were in was lovely, also beautifully clean, however, the plug socket at the side of the bed did not work at all. Bed was extremely comfortable also. The tv lacked WiFi so was not able to enjoy usual channels. Like I say the hotel itself is lovely. However this time we decided to have breakfast, as were greeted at the beginning and told to sit and help to juice and cereal. The lady came took our order and then brought over toast, I have to say though the breakfast was not great at all the mushrooms were tinned and not cooked properly the beans tasted of cleaner. I wished to order more toast however after the breakfast was delivered we didnt see another member of staff not even to ask if food was ok. They continued to carry on chatting in the kitchen (only 2 tables having breakfast so not busy) and we waited over 10 mins and still noone arrived so I left my breakfast and left without some extra toast. Very disappointed at 10.50 each. The fella on reception however who I spoke to and told about it was lovely and friendly and a credit to the hotel. But it might as well be do it yourself for breakfast as you dont see anyone.

We were pretty disappointed with this stay. Having paid over more than basic for a 'deluxe' room we were surprised with the dingy, undecorated room with a very dated, less than clean bathroom. It did not look remotely like the pictures advertising it. The bed was clean at least but our stay was also marred by an extremely loud wedding which went on until the wee sma hours - not just indoors but screaming in the carpark till very late. We don't feel it's fair for hotels to take normal bookings when they have big events on - all we wanted was a quiet sleep when driving a long way. The saving grace was a nice bar meal served by really personable waiting staff.
