Let me save you the trouble of figuring out parking - parking on Brautarholt street (the street running parallel to the hotel) is paid during the day. Between the hours of 9AM - 9PM it is paid and has a 3 hour limit. Between 9PM - 9AM, it is free. It is a P1 parking zone incase you need to search it. The payment machine is at the end of the street and does not have english so be prepared to translate. Hotel has no staff. Not a single person to help if you need anything. There’s a sewage smell in the lobby. Room was okay. The tabletops were dusty and my sheet had blood stains on it. The bathroom was clean but very basic (no conditioner in the shower). I’ve stayed at about 8 hotels across iceland and this was the worst by far. Would not recommend. The construction across the street is also extremely inconvenient and seems to not be ending any time soon. The video shown about parking was the most confusing and inaccurate overview — and when I contacted the hotel to clarify they just sent me back the same monolog from the video about parking being paid and free all on the same street. Don’t stay here. I’d be willing to pay more for the slight convenience of being able to ask a human being for help.

The hotel was very clean and just as pictured. The bed was comfortable and shower water pressure was amazing! I liked the keyless entry and check in. Parking is not super convenient, but not too crazy and I don’t have complaints. Just something to note. There are limited free parking spaces right by the hotel, but there were many free spaces about a block away. Would definitely stay again!

Reasonable price for the area and with 10 minute walk of resteraunts, but beware! You can't even get through the front door until 15:00 and there is no parking. So if you get dropped off by a shuttle from the airport late afternoon, you have to hang out with your luggage until 3 pm. At that time, your entry code that is emailed to you will allow you to check in. There is NO reception staff. If you have a car, you have to find street parking 2 to 3 blocks away. Despite what the online video shows, all parking on that street is a tow away zone or a limited 3 hour paid parking at 1000 kr per hour.

So if you get dropped off by a shuttle from the airport late afternoon, you have to hang out with your luggage until 3 pm. Checkin was done without staff, all instructions were in the reservation email, and no issues with that. The luggage storage room in the lobby was very useful. Parking was a bit troublesome, as it is shared with many other businesses nearby. There was a building under construction just across the alley that was loud and had lots of workers in view of our room from early in the morning until late in the afternoon. Not alot can be done about that, but worth mentioning, as we felt we couldn't have the windows open at all. Room is clean, modern, spacious, and comfortable.

We requested early check in and were allowed in 3 hours early. We requested luggage be stored for later departure than our check out and were allowed to leave bags in secure storage. Flybus and tour pickup at the door was awesome. We will return.

Comfortable enough place although it’s strange not having staff present. There is free parking in the area but it is extremely limited. We got an email with an explanation but weren’t always able to find a free spot so ended up paying for parking some of the time.

We liked that all the tours that we booked had a pick up spot at the hotel. There was a pretty good restaurant at the side albeit on the pricey side, as was most of Iceland. Anywho, saved money on shopping at Bonus, which was less then 5 minutes from the hotel. There are also some good coffee shops nearby, just google it. As for the room it was clean. The room faced the street but the neighborhood was on the quiet side. There was heavy construction across the hotel but we were out for most of the day, so that kind of noise wasn’t a bother. Staff was quick to answer questions via message/email. There is a storage locker and WC in the lobby, so if you're early and waiting for check in, there's that. Walking distance to downtown Reykjavik is about 20-25 min depending on how fast you walk. 10-15 minute walk to the ocean. All in all, a good place to stay for our first time in Iceland.

Das Hotel wird zurzeit umgebaut und man wurde vorgängig nicht informiert! Es gleicht einer grossen Baustelle und eine Rezeption gibt es nicht (mehr). Es gibt Self-Check-In aber den dazugehörigen Code haben wir vorgängig nicht erhalten. Das ging allen Gästen so, die zeitgleich angereist sind. Man musste dann mühsam einer Hotline anrufen, sehr ärgerlich. Würde man die Gäste vorgängig darüber informieren, würde man sie auch nicht verärgern! Zimmer war gross und immerhin preiswert. Matratzen sind sehr weich und durchgelegen aber alles war sauber. Kostenloses Parking etwas unklar, da es in den Strassen viele Abschleppschilder gibt. Fragen konnte man ja dann auch niemanden, weil kein Personal vor Ort.

Room was adequate but sink was so tiny my head bumped the wall when brushing teeth! No drinking glass. Some construction going on in the building which made the hallways a little messy. Outside, a massive construction site just across the street.

The room is recently renovated, clean and comfortable. We did have a problem with our code working when we first arrived but we called the phone number (as there is no front desk) and it was resolved. We saw other people having this same issue so it was not a one time issue. Also the TV is very large but it doesn’t get any stations and isn’t a smart tv so it cannot be used at all. Parking was a little bit of an issue as well but we were able to find some free parking across the street from the hotel.

The room was ok, very basic but it was clean. There was no kettle provided in the room nor any drinks options in any communal areas.... this was unexpected as it didnt state that a kettle wouldn't be available. After landing at the airport late in the evening, we bought some 'instant noodles' knowing restaurants would be close at that time, so it was very frustrating to get to our room and find no amenities or way or making a drinknor food. There was also very limited parking outside. With no reception or front desk, you were left with limited information.

It's slightly off the centre of the city but still very walkable to ships and restaurants. It's self check in and out, but we had no problem with that. We were able to store our luggage before our check in time. The shower is very nice and the beds are comfortable. We would stay here again.

Self-check in property - no front desk staff. No free parking available, had to walk several blocks over. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Shower was ridiculously small. Basic amenities (soap and shampoo) Sidewalk not cleared - several inches of snow and ice out front. Good breakfast! Will stay somewhere else next visit to Reykjavik.

Lovely large room with comfortable beds and a great shower. Parking was a bit difficult to find. The rooms aren't sound proof as we could hear the neighbours running down the hall way and talking in the early hours of the morning. A bit disappointed there was no kettle in the room either.

Make sure you have access to your email before you get there or press the button to get info on how to check in as the instructions are in the email and if you do not have wifi you will not know how to get in! this is a no staff hotel which is fine except the email comes just before you arrive and i did not have wifi during the time the email came but the button worked and i was able to get in.

Their system with the access code is terrible & very frustrating. They emailed me the instructions but the code didn’t work. I arrived early and just wanted to store my luggage in their luggage storage area but can’t in because it’s before 3pm. But they said I could. Until someone was leaving, the door opened & I was able to get in. Then I checked out early but still had to store my luggage in the luggage storage. They said they’ll extend the code. When I got back to pick up my luggage, the code didn’t work and called & still didn’t work until someone came out and activated the door open. A very inconvenient system with the access code

This was a terrible experience from the start. Zero parking available on the street. Door code didn’t work. I was hung up on when I called. Several other guests couldn’t get in either. It was pouring rain during this time. My door code didn’t work for my room setting off a siren, another guest couldn’t get into her room. Once I finally got into the room, which should be called a closet. (Don’t believe the pictures). It took me an hour to figure how to turn off the lights, loud street noise, shower doors that didn’t seal. This is an awful experience, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Nice quaint hotel in the city. It’s not the closest to the bustle but only a 15 minute walk. They were great allowing us to check-in early which was much appreciated. Parking was the major hindrance and spent navigating a parking spot. The room was clean, the breakfast is light and a bit nimble for the cost. The price overall was good and if you have questions, they are responsive very quickly.

I did not like having not a single person on the property to talk to about anything. No local advice or flavor to help you navigate thru a day. Missed that. Also, a breaker popped while we were there...room went dark and I had to call the phone contact in the hope they could direct me to help. I ended up finding the breaker box and resetting the breaker. I would not stay here again. Just too impersonal and cold of a way to run a hotel.

It's slightly off the centre of the city but still very walkable to ships and restaurants. It's self check in and out, but we had no problem with that. We were able to store our luggage before our check in time. The shower is very nice and the beds are comfortable. We would stay here again.

We liked that all the tours that we booked had a pick up spot at the hotel. There was a pretty good restaurant at the side albeit on the pricey side, as was most of Iceland. Anywho, saved money on shopping at Bonus, which was less then 5 minutes from the hotel. There are also some good coffee shops nearby, just google it. As for the room it was clean. The room faced the street but the neighborhood was on the quiet side. There was heavy construction across the hotel but we were out for most of the day, so that kind of noise wasn’t a bother. Staff was quick to answer questions via message/email. There is a storage locker and WC in the lobby, so if you're early and waiting for check in, there's that. Walking distance to downtown Reykjavik is about 20-25 min depending on how fast you walk. 10-15 minute walk to the ocean. All in all, a good place to stay for our first time in Iceland.

Easy self check in, good communication, prompt replies, very clean, lovely room. There is construction right across the street so it was noisy when window was open, but the construction stops at 5 pm and all is well. Alva hotel is close to everything so a good location. We really enjoyed our stay! 👍👍👍

This was a very nice hotel with contactless check in. Very comfortable with free parking. Also a great restaurant downstairs that we would highly recommend. We arrived late — about 9 pm due to delayed flight. The chef was just leaving when we got there and closing the kitchen. However, he stayed for us and made us a delicious dinner!

The location and accommodations are fair. There is ample free street parking in the vicinity. The hotel has no reception staff - it's mostly automated using codes for building entry, room access, and breakfast (to show if you've already paid). The breakfast staff person during our stay was abrasive, and made breakfast uncomfortable. Each morning, you were interrogated as to if you had breakfast included in your reservation, even though there is an entry protocol (first, you type in your code and if you have breakfast included, the turnstile shows a green approval light; and second, you provide your room number at the entrance of the restaurant, written on a piece of paper). On our last day, the staff person harassed us, claiming that we didn't have breakfast included even though we did. We had already typed in the code as was protocol and it showed a green approval light, and despite this, she made a speakerphone call with a hotel representative in the restaurant. I offered to show her my reservation information several times and she refused to look at it. I had to join the phone call, and the representative confirmed that we did in fact have breakfast included. It was unnecessarily contentious and a poor experience for our last day. Added to this, breakfast was missing many items, so we got little for what we had paid. Overall, we had a fine stay, but I wouldn't stay here again.

We had a very pleasant stay here all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely and clean. There was a kettle and coffee machine on our floor where you could help yourself. Improvements could be some little uht milk pots as you had to make tea with coffee creamer! Was still welcome after coming in from the cold though 😄 There are car parking spaces out the front I think 7 in total which was convenient. The hotel isn’t in downtown Reykjavik it’s a 15-20 minute walk. Breakfast is included and was delicious. Continental options were cereals, yoghurt, bread rolls, toast, boiled eggs, fruit, ham, cheese, peppers, cucumber and tomato as well as fresh juice and tea and coffee. The most yummy fresh bread and carrot cake that I’ve tasted! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This property was a godsend honestly. I was trying to find a location that a dive company could pick me up at that was also near everything. I arrived without my bag in a wind/rain storm and when I got to the front desk, Abby was the SWEETEST. She let me check in early which was just the absolute best AND breakfast was still going and my entire trip turned around. Albert on night shift was also incredibly helpful. I recommend having them order you a taxi over the app..on my departure day, I waited over an hour for the app and still didn’t have a ride…Abby was able to get me one within five minutes. the hotel is really close to the main strip even if it doesn’t feel like it so maybe just highlighting that would be lovely. Overall, hot water, comfortable beds, clean sheets, and INCREDIBLE staff. Seriously, Albert and Abby are amazing
