Good solid hotel which had its best time in the 1980s so it’s a bit tired but the staff are great and the spa area was lovely. I would definitely come again!

The staff were all lovely especially the gentleman behind reception on arrival. He is a credit to you. Spa facilities were great and a swim was such a treat. My daughter is going to book 2 nights in October and we will stay again.

Clean, spacious room. Quiet. Comfy bed, slept really well. A lovely pool that didn’t get busy. Breakfast was OK, breakfast staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Room needs a bit of updating and the crack in the ceiling seen to, but a minor point. I had a lovely, relaxed stay.

Lovely and quiet nights sleep. Great swimming pool, shame there is no jacuzzi, but there is a sauna and steam room. Room was big and bed was super comfortable and a super king. Fresh milk for coffe in our room, which is very nice.

Very comfortable bed and the room was clean but there were some staining/ smudges on the sheet. The bathroom was tired with some staining on caulking. Free Wi-fi too! Really good fitness suite and the sauna was nice. EV charging was very helpful too

We used the hotel to do Paultons park. Nice size family room but they really need some TLC. No tv remote, no A/C only heat coming out so the room was boiling. The most disappointing was the bathroom- get some mould and Mildew remover, and clean the drains. Restaurant food was a bit of a hit and miss depending on what you ordered.

Hotel needs some t l c. The pool has taped off areas in men’s changing room. Needs new light bulbs on exit. Bedroom needs some paint touched up. Bathroom floor sticky.

The exterior and reception looked goid but the room was a bit tired. Frayed and stained carpets, paint peeling off the ceiling in the shower, bath panel loose. Basin in bathroom had chips to the enamel. Broken bin in bathroom. Marks on walls Expected more for the price we paid. Our room was also given to another guest who we found trying to get into our room. Lot of noise from guests in room above, bad insulation?

Carpet in bedroom going threadbare and in halls worn to the point of contouring and threadbare in places. Shower controls and fittings were coming off and the screen wasn't that effective at keeping water in the shower. TV remote filthy. Tables in dining room and outside not wiped down properly and dirty. Food of catering pack/boil in the bag quality and mean portions not reflective of the price. Staff in restaurant forgot orders and said they could not change meal bookings- later reception staff told us this wasn't true. No instructions in men's changing room of swimming pool on what to do with used towels despite charge for not returning them, which wasn't explained when they were handed out. The same (probably staff?) car parked in the only disabled bay without a blue badge for the whole time we were there. We were asked to pay for a meal at the bar which we hadn't had and wasn't signed for. Thankfully staff did not insist on payment as it wasn't signed for. Hotel was hard to reach on the phone to cancel a meal booking and they didn't seem to notice when we didn't turn up. Would have been happier if the price reflected the quality.

Hotel is very dated + tired, we stayed in a suite, the kids were given camp beds with broken springs so they basically slept on the floor. Coffee machine in room didn't work, bathroom was not the cleanest, we kept finding long dark hairs everywhere. We ate in the hotel restaurant, again not the cleanest. Cobwebs in most corners + dust along the windowsills. Windows in restaurant were filthy. Sofas in the bar area have had their day - basically like sitting on the floor. Food at dinner was good and the service was prompt. Breakfast was basic but as expected. It was OK for the night, we would likely not return.

I have stayed here a few times for various reasons and each time its an enjoyable experience. We had an issue with our bathroom this stay, which would have been obvious when the bedroom was cleaned after the previous guests left. Havent used the spa or sporting facilites, but they look good if you need a gotel with these features. The price to stay is always very reasonable.

Room was nice and spacious. We booked a standards king room for 2 nights and had a mini fridge which was a nice addition. Air con was a bit confusing to use and it was a shame there were no plugs to charge our electrical items near the bed at all. The only outlets were near the desk and lamp on the other side of the room and this does impact the stay when you need to use your phone etc. more plugs around the rooms would help so much.

The staff were very friendly, and helpful. The room was clean and well maintained. Although an extension lead was quickly provided unfortunately this meant there was a cable across the floor to power my CPAP machine. I think socket next to the bed should be provided. Also I would expect USB power facilities in the room.

Our trip to Macdonald was mostly positive. Comfortable bed and spacious room. But the decor and building is ageing, and it’s missing amenities we’d expect for a hotel of this stated quality - including bottled water, fridge and telephone in the room.

Short staffed so room not ready. Receptionist was complaining about how busy they were & not happy. 2nd receptionist when eventually room was ready long wait, ask for table in restaurant to be booked for 8pm confirmed all sorted plus free round of drinks for the inconvenience of wait & room not ready. Hotel very tired, ripped carpets, damaged & stained furniture, tables full of empty glasses, cups, plates etc. food on floors in bar areas. Arrived at restaurant at 8pm no booking but had to wait 10 minutes before anyone came to speak to us to even ask our names, restaurant had only 8 tables occupied so told no room for us to use the bar, had just left the bar and 3 couples had the wrong food and not happy. Eventually the restaurant manager was called and sorted a table. Food excellent but hotel and staff shockingly poor!

Stayed here many times before and always good value for money - particular mention (management please take note) for Paul working in the breakfast room this morning who went above and beyond his job -first class service Paul well done ! and as always of course to Robert in reception - consumate professional. Now stayed here 3 times. Room is comfortable but a long way from the reception. On this occasion waited a while to be checked in, with only one member of staff greeting guests. Car parking is free and it is about a 20/25 minute drive into central Southampton. Location is relevant to price as the hotels in central Southampton are more expensive and you have to pay for parking at all of them.

Frequently Unmanned reception, unmanned bar and couldn’t get room service. Staff when they were there at breakfast were too busy talking to each other about another member of staff than helping us. Asked for breakfast off the menu I was handed but was told to use the buffet. Couldn’t get bottled water for ages, asked for tea at the bar, was told to take a seat and it would come out, I had to ask 2 staff and was waiting 35 minutes. I found the place over priced, understaffed and noisey at night. Definitely not good value and will not stay again, cannot recommend it at all.

Now stayed here 3 times. Room is comfortable but a long way from the reception. On this occasion waited a while to be checked in, with only one member of staff greeting guests. Car parking is free and it is about a 20/25 minute drive into central Southampton. Location is relevant to price as the hotels in central Southampton are more expensive and you have to pay for parking at all of them.

We have stayed here many times. Great location for shopping, walking etc. just missed the pool this time as it was closed for maintenance. Botley is a very pretty little village. Will definitely stay again.

It’s located in a quiet, green area, which makes it perfect for a relaxing break. The hotel offers great leisure facilities—there’s a pool, squash courts, massage services, a sauna, and even a dance room, which really add to the experience. The lounge area is spacious and cozy, everything was clean, and the staff were truly excellent—friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our stay. Parking was easy, and the prices felt fair for what you get. Thought the breakfast was way over priced, poor selection of fresh fruit, had to wait for the hot food to be replaced, pastries poor. We ordered a baguette at lunch time waited 30 minutes for it and when it came the food was cold, obviously been standing around waiting to be collected.

Very average hotel if youre not using the spa, pool or squash court :) Room was okay and had all the things required for a good night's night. Bed was huge and very, very comfortable . Dinner was expensive and not actually that good. The dining room needs a freshen up i think.. Good choice of drinks and reasonably priced. Breakfast doesnt work... it was like the wild west especially with small children around.

WE WERE IN A 20 MINUTE QUEUE TO GET TO RECEPTION. RECEPTIONISTS SEEMED TO BE DOING THINGS OTHER THAN CHECKING PEOPLE IN (POSSIBLY BOOKING EXCURSIONS AND SUCHLIKE). When eventually we were checked in, we were told that he room was not yet ready (in spite of the time being nearly 17:00 hrs. In consequence, we were kept waiting for another extended period. However, once all this was done, our room was excellent and very comfortable. The food offering at Dinner and Breckfast was very good.

Stayed 3 nights on business, hotel rooms and gym quite good. Breakfast ok but evening meals are an absolute rip off. £19 for an overcooked small burger with skinny chips or £18 for a breaded fish from Iceland by the looks of it with a thimble of mussy peas and skinny chips. Both meals were below average and £7.60 a pint or £13 a glass, YES A GLASS of wine. Shocking, won't be back there in a hurry.

I chose this hotel for the facilities and they did not let us down. The bed was luxurious and I slept like a baby. The really disappointing thing was the breakfast. For £44 for two people you would expect at the very least that the items were cooked. The sausages were so anaemic that it was hard to get the fork into them and the egg whites on the fried eggs were still liquid. There were no hash browns all in all a very disappointing end to a lovely stay.

It was my husband & my 2nd stay as hotel is very handy for Southampton & surrounding areas. We had a warm friendly welcome from Robert on our arrival. Our room was spacious enough and clean. We were unimpressed with the restaurant food at the hotel on our 1st visit, but decided to give it another chance, unfortunately it was at equally disappointing this time. It was tasteless and extremely overpriced. Also, the service from the gentleman serving the food to the table was terrible. He spilt my husbands rice on my side of the table and then put it down in front of my husband with the rice spilt and he didn’t say a word. No one came back at all during our meal to check if everything was ok. The girls serving were friendly enough, but the restaurant manager was there too and wandering around the restaurant, but he never spoke to anyone. We are staying at the hotel again in 2 weeks time, as the hotel itself is fine, but we definitely will not be eating in the restaurant again. The other plus point is the electric charging points, although more are required.

Room was not ready at nearly 4pm in the day. Was left sitting in reception while they got it ready. When inwas told it was ready i went to the room to find them still in the room and it wasnt ready. Room was clean with good AC. The shower gel was empty which was disappointing.

The staff were generally very helpful and trying to do their very best in a hotel that is very much past its prime and desperately in need of some refreshment. It is far from its claim to be 'delux'. Our room was a good size, though on the lower level facing a wall. It was clean and comfortable. Only the Sports Bar was open in the early evening and was unattended for around 15 minutes when we arrived at approx 5pm. The dining room (restaurant) was dimly lit with sagging blinds and loose cords at the windows. Breakfast was self-service but the waiting time for a table to be available (despite selecting a time slot - which seemed irrelevant) was significant. The space was very busy. The various buffets were often not replenished as items were consumed - for example at the cereal bar, once empty the yoghurt and compote dishes were simply removed when empty and not replaced. Cannot comment on the Spa or Sporting facilities, as we did not use them. On the plus side, there was plenty of parking and the check-in process was quick and smooth. In summary, this is NOT a 4 Star hotel - it is probably a 3 Star charging 4 Star prices. There are better hotels close by, we will not return.

This place is a mixed bag but overall we would not stay here again. The reception staff are really good but the pool and bar were terrible. There were 56 people in a smallish swimming pool, which clearly was not safe. Children were constantly launching into the pool and dive bombing, throwing inflatables, etc. There was cctv over the area but no staff there and nothing done. The bar was not great in that our table was very sticky and dirty. We ordered one coke and one soda and lime. For this we were charged THIRTEEN POUNDS! We live in Central London and have never been charged anywhere near that for just two soft drinks. The bedroom was fine but the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly.
