The location was stunning and very picturesque. The spa and swimming pool view was fabulous. The hot tub location and view was amazing. Breakfast was very simple and traditional but quality was good. The massage quality and type of massage ( deep tissue) disappointed us as I usually get an hour very professional Thai massage by half price!!!

Been several times but not since new owners. Everything is now extra, to ask for a specific room £10 extra, I booked this hotel because it has a fabulous pool / hot tub but upon arrival was told this is now £15 per person perday extra… what’s point of booking a hotel with pool/gym and u have to pay to use them. Beautiful location and great food though. So for the sake of £15 I won’t be back.

Nice friendly staff free parking nice room clean and tidy was small room nice dinner and breakfast went to use the swimming after breakfast was told by staff your too late after 9.30am you have to pay £25 to use the facilities how ridiculous you as a, quest can come free before 9.30am bad communication from front reception didn't tell me about the charges or about the leisure facilities policys not good customer services between the hotel staff I felt I have been cheated out of paying very good money at the hotel for a small room and than been told to pay for lesuire facilities on the day not mentioned anywhere when I booked my hotel this the reason I booked it with lesuire facilities to use unfortunately got turned away from staff very emotional aleast they could have saus on this occasion please use it and either make a policy to pay or not to pay and nothing mentioned on the card about charges.

Its a stunning location set in beautiful surroundings. Sadly it doesn't include use of the facilities as i had to pay £15 to access them. Wasn't impressed with the charge and apparently that was a special offer price. The room we had was very, very warm and with no air-conditioning sadly it made for quite an uncomfortable night. I will add fans were provided in the cupboard but they just circulated the warm air frustratingly. All in all a gorgeous location but glad i only stayed one night. The spa and outdoor hot tubs are really nice but i don't believe an extra charge for their use is acceptable.

When we checked in we were told we couldn't use the pool or spa until 7am - 9am but when I looked at the info in the room that was when children could use it , we were 2 adults with no kids! plus no idea why we weren't allowed to use the pool the day we checked in. in our room there was a glass of water on the night stand , I dismissed it as just a simple missed item when the room was cleaned. Then the level of noise all night was so bad! no sound proofing at all (we were in the mainland hotel) In the morning I went for a shower and there was no shampoo in the dispenser. I booked this hotel as a Birthday treat for myself and I was so disappointed , I wouldn't have booked if I'd have known we couldn't use the pool and spa. Sadly won't be coming back.

The hotel was dirty and old fashioned. The service was the worst I have had in any hotel while travelling in the uk and Europe. They assumed things that was not true and being a gentleman I corrected them and paid my way. The swimming pool is only free from 7 am till 9am. During breakfast. Then there is a financial cost the the guest for the use off. This was not clear on the website when booking.

Excellent rooms. The only downside was the spa facilities was not included in the price except between 7am to 9am it was an extra £20 to £30 per a person at all other time which i thought let down the hotel. I would of not booked it if i knew there was an extra cost.

This is a special and unique idyllic and exclusive location. Even in Winter it is beautiful but in summer it must be stunning. The food was excellent and pretty decent value in the bar where the inevitable whiff of chlorine from the pool vznishes from you mind within 10 minutes. Do not worry you will have a lovely evening or lunch. The cheeseboard was both generous and interesting. Just to show how professional it was the only criticism i could find was we had 2 different sized mugs in room which i didn't notice until the morning. The staff were lovely and friendly and explained everything well - you really felt like a proper guest All the spa facilities are open long hours starting early and are very well maintained and comfortably warm or sweaty enough where appropriate A really super stay

Could do better. Stayed 4 nights. At almost £150 p.n. at location not close to main roads, it’s not value for money. Pluses: lovely large room, good facilities, fabulous surroundings (lake, peaceful, etc). Friendly staff. Food mostly good (but see PS below). Food service competent. Minuses: these were enough to spoil our stay. 1. First night fish & chips were not crisp, think they forgot the final fry! (tired after v long journey so slow to notice, should have sent back.) Breakfast bacon crisp and delicious one day, dry and fatty another. Other food mostly good (but see PS below). 2. Domestic arr. not good: a) room not serviced on 3rd day, manager apologised and sorted it but we had planned rest, instead were tensed; no compensation offered. b) shower drain filthy. c) public places: decor a bit tired, grubby in places e.g. lobby door entry mat not cleaned throughout stay (same leaves in same places!), swim pool area grubby in places. 3. Items on tea/coffee tray not consistent each day. 4. Breakfast service staffing varied, arbitrarily it seemed - 3,3,5,1 😵💫 4. Lift out of action (ok, it happens!), no help with luggage was offered ( we didn’t need it but that’s not the point). Apologies when pointed out. SUMMARY: nice hotel in fabulous surroundings, but seemed geared for weddings rather than for regular guests. Attention to detail poor. Food mostly good but quality not consistent. Everything about this place is pretty. Room service terrible. Restaurant floor sticky. Rooms cold and very dated. Curtains hanging off. Staff attitude is poor. Think faulty towers but bigger and colder. The area and grounds are very nice, but the hotel aspect is poor. Many years ago it eas the place to go, but not anymore. Overall a very disappointing stay.

This was our second stay at Waterton Park and we were as pleased this time as we were after our first stay. This time our room was in the main hall - we had a spacious room which was pleasantly warm, beautifully furnished including a four poster bed. The bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower and full bath and was spotlessly clean. Staff our friendly and professional. Breakfast was included and was tasty and plentiful. Will definitely stay again.

Our deluxe double room was large and spacious. Unfortunately it was not very clean at all. Cobwebs around the windows and behind the curtains. Both bedside tables had been dusted, but had not been wiped clean as there were sticky rings on them. The four poster bed had a sticky ring on one of the ledges. The bathroom was tired. Not what you would except for £171 a night! The prices in the bar are outrageous, £2.00 for a lime and soda! £9 for a glass of wine. It feels like you are been ripped off because you are a captive audience. No really what you want at a wedding reception.

The surroundings and ambiance of the hotel were beautiful and the staff were always polite and attentive. The food was lovely and there was plenty of convenient parking. I was staying in a room in the old house on the island, which provided beautiful views and grand interiors. Could be a little noisy in the mornings with trolley's being wheeled over the cobbles.

Room is spacious but the bathtub is tiny. Very few toiletries and carpets throughout the hotel look dated. Breakfast room was small and we had to wait a while to be seated which would have been unnecessary if vacated tables were being cleaned promptly. The grounds outside are beautiful and if you’re looking for a picturesque place for a wedding, this is it. However, would not return for a romantic weekend away.

I will add fans were provided in the cupboard but they just circulated the warm air frustratingly. All in all a gorgeous location but glad i only stayed one night. The spa and outdoor hot tubs are really nice but i don't believe an extra charge for their use is acceptable.

Before going to sleep, there was an evident dip in the bed to one side. When I got into bed, it was two singles together, which I know is common for hotels but these mattresses were polar opposites. One was extremely used & dipped in the middle & the other was rock solid. I asked to change rooms & although rooms were free, none were clean. There’s also a smoke detector wit a flashing LED above the bed which lights up the room when in complete darkness. AVOID room 45 at all costs. Issued my concerns at checkout & over email & nobody is interested, only wishing my return which will absolutely not be happening. Aesthetically the hotel & grounds are fantastic but in reality, they are worn, tired & past their best.

Really lovely place , can’t complain about anything from views to service all where brilliant . Only warning is the sound isn’t fantastic, as in you can hear water and movement in other rooms, but it’s an old house so to be expected.

Overpriced for one night stay. Fantastic property but our room was very tired & the shower dated & needing repair. Pillows cheap. Breakfast service very slow. 45 mins for egg on toast & then it was served incorrectly & cold !!

Our deluxe double room was large and spacious. Unfortunately it was not very clean at all. Cobwebs around the windows and behind the curtains. Both bedside tables had been dusted, but had not been wiped clean as there were sticky rings on them. The four poster bed had a sticky ring on one of the ledges. The bathroom was tired. Not what you would except for £171 a night! The prices in the bar are outrageous, £2.00 for a lime and soda! £9 for a glass of wine. It feels like you are been ripped off because you are a captive audience. No really what you want at a wedding reception.

The reception staff member was very good and friendly. We were pleased to have accommodation on the island. Very unhappy that guests had to pay for the leisure facilities outside of a 2 hour window of 7am - 9am. Especially as our plan was to relax in the jacuzzi between check in and dinner. I was not prepared to pay £30 for this, despite a long drive to the hotel. The room we had had good views. No hand soap was supplied. It was in need of painting. The food at the on-site restaurant was quite good and the pricing of the food was just above pub restaurant prices, although the wine was overpriced and the drinks choice was fairly limited. Clearly the serving staff need more training as one didn't know what they were serving. The lamb was described as "some kind of steak" when it was brought to the table. The following day, we were out all day and returned around 9pm, to find that the room had not been cleaned, towels changed or courtesy tray replenished. We had to cross back off of the island to tell the reception that we lacked certain items and report the issue and were told that they had a note to say housekeeping wasn't done because they were short staffed. Given that we were out all day until late, the hotel had plenty of opportunity for the staff who were available to carry out the tasks. Apart from "sorry" there was no other recognition that we were inconvenienced. Overall. Nice place, nice people but further investment in training and decorating required.

Our stay was amazing. Every member of staff encountered were very attentive, polite and happy. The location is stunning and despite the hotel hosting a wedding and another celebration event this did not detract from the attention all other travellers got. We felt as welcomed as those at the events. The leisure facilities and staff were also exceptional. Will defintely be looking to stay here again

The hotel was dirty and old fashioned. The service was the worst I have had in any hotel while travelling in the uk and Europe. They assumed things that was not true and being a gentleman I corrected them and paid my way. The swimming pool is only free from 7 am till 9am. During breakfast. Then there is a financial cost the the guest for the use off. This was not clear on the website when booking.

Sadly got there, greeting was next to nothing, have you got a booking ? With a face that looks like she hated her job. To then be told they haven’t got our room what’s been booked twice, and booked in for over a month, plus had in email after confirming everything over emails. Basically was told if I don’t like it we can just leave and go home, 50 minutes to get there and over 1hour home with nothing offered as an apology on the night. To then be called up by the manager saying sorry which is fair enough but a discount offered if we wanted to use the hotel. A discount after the farce we had to put up with and costs it took to get here. Was looking for a wedding venue at this place but treated like this can’t see them deserving our booking, sad because it looks a lovely hotel, I might have just been the unlucky person that got this treatment

Great stay for a special birthday. Enjoyed the spa and the superb location excellent setting. Food was average but pricey was told great places near by for food. Leanne on reception was particularly outstanding going above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant stay.

The location was stunning and very picturesque. The spa and swimming pool view was fabulous. The hot tub location and view was amazing. Breakfast was very simple and traditional but quality was good. The massage quality and type of massage ( deep tissue) disappointed us as I usually get an hour very professional Thai massage by half price!!!

I really liked this hotel. We had a room in the building on the island which was very picturesque with fantastic views and a big corner room. The building itself is a bit 'knock-about'. It has the faded grandeur of an old hotel, but that just added to its charm. The swimming pool has a lovely aspect looking out on to the lake and is perfectly serviceable, but the spa in the main hotel opposite really is luxury, with state of the art treatment rooms and a really high end vibe. Breakfast was excellent, (a mix of self serve and cooked service) as was supper in Charlie's Bar. For its proud eco-credentials, it would have been great to have some more electric car charging points. A minor gripe. I would stay here again and recommend also.

This is a special and unique idyllic and exclusive location. Even in Winter it is beautiful but in summer it must be stunning. The food was excellent and pretty decent value in the bar where the inevitable whiff of chlorine from the pool vznishes from you mind within 10 minutes. Do not worry you will have a lovely evening or lunch. The cheeseboard was both generous and interesting. Just to show how professional it was the only criticism i could find was we had 2 different sized mugs in room which i didn't notice until the morning. The staff were lovely and friendly and explained everything well - you really felt like a proper guest All the spa facilities are open long hours starting early and are very well maintained and comfortably warm or sweaty enough where appropriate A really super stay

Walton Hall continues to be a beautiful location for our stay in Wakefield to visit family. Breathtakingly stunning views and a friendly Yorkshire welcome. However, the choice of menu in Charlies Bar is not as good as prior visits nor was the quality of the food. During previous visits i was able to have skimmed milk for my drinks but that proved a step too far this time. Cutting back on wasteful practices is a great idea in this economic climate but please do not compromise on that special attention to detail.

Photos misleading, there is a new part of the hotel so didn't stay in the hotel shown on photos. Rooms very basic, food bad, zero breakfast left at 9.45, apart from bread & cereal. Service poor and whole hotel is run by youngsters who moan about having to be there. Tables never cleared so surrounded by used plates and glasses in restaurant and lounge. Not recommended! Very low standards and definitely not 4 star!

Appreciating times are hard for the industry the staff were doing a good job but appeared to be working to tighter budgets and seems new business model is about volume of guests more than quality of offering now.

sadly we had to leave early due to an emergency at home so didn't actually get to stay overnight. The food was nice in the bar and staff friendly. Would have preferred a bathroom door in the room instead of a curtain though.

Really noisy room. I was in a dog friendly room and had to walk through the back of the kitchen to get to it which was hot and smelled strongly of food. Some of the bar staff seemed untrained. Food was good but had to eat in the lounge as had the dogs and it felt very awkward as people were watching the TV extremely loudly with also music playing. Hotel was clean, just a bit tired and bed was very creaky. I could hear the person upstairs tv until at least 3am the first night then the second it was someone snoring! Very passive aggressive note left in the room for dog owners, despite paying £20 per dog per night unlike the advertiser £20 per accommodation as advertised on hotels.com No access to the island with dogs either. There is a really easy walk down the river from the hotel, which was really convenient! Didn’t eat breakfast but assuming there would be no self service I would have to stay in the lounge with the dogs.

Este alojamiento consta de dos edificios: el Walton Hall, situado en la isla, y ubicado justo frente a él, en tierra firme, el Waterton Park Hotel.
