The property is beautiful, excellent pool and the bartender is nice. English was not a barrier, as there was plenty of English speaking staff members. The "Private beach" is a must.it's basically a scaffold built ver the ocean with drink/snack service . From the"deck" you can step into the ocean swimming pool... very cool.

Very nice hotel, but no food between breakfast and dinner and no beverages after breakfast before the bar opens at 16:00. At least beverages should be available for pool guest. Cool location, but car is advisable.

An old elegant hotel with great service and a modern pool complex. Breakfast was heavy on pastries and sweets, not my taste but some prefer that. Location is too far to walk to the old city but makes up for that with a nice pool. A nice addition in the heat of July. I would stay again. Free and easy parking as well if you have a car.

Good hotel. We had 3 days at this location and I picked the propery based on the private beach advertised on the website. Given it was 30C in mid June we didn’t expect that the beach will be closed. This was disappointing- they only open thier private beach in August but show it in all hotel photos- long walk to all other attractions. We had to taxi everywhere. Would not stay there again based on that.

Hôtel plein de charme et d’histoire .Chambre très propre et bon petit déjeuner dans une salle magnifique.Parking facile : tres appréciable à Syracuse. La piscine était en travaux et il n’y a pas d’accès privé à la plage comme suggéré sur les photos du site de l’hôtel.

We loved the Villa Politi, a grand hotel with a very interesting history. The guest areas are spacious and the pool beautiful. The only concern we had, the dinner service was a little slow due to large tour groups dining, the staff were under pressure. We would have also appreciated tea/coffee making facilities in our room. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely clean sheets, I really rate the cleanliness of this hotel as I have a dust allergy. A multitude of gluten free options for breakfast, nice staff. I extended my stay by an extra 2 nights. It's a bit of a walk into Ortigia but good to get your steps in with so much fantastic food on offer!

Breakfast seemed like something from Aldi/Lidl. Room was in poor condition, especially bathroom. Air conditioning could with updating, either cold or over heating. As a result we got very little sleep. Best thing going for this hotel was the pool.

L'albergo è sicuramente ben manuntenuto, ma di certo ha conosciuto fasti migliori negli anni che furono. La camera a noi assegnata, per quanto pulita e confortevole, manca delle comidità moderne come un maggior numero di prese della corrente e dislocate in maniera ottimale per persone che viaggiano con più oggetti da caricare (PC, telefoni, orologi, ecc.). Il vero punto debole della struttura è la sala della colazione e la colazione stessa, un po' troppo basilare per una struttura che nel nome ha "Grand". Il maggior punto a suo favore è il parcheggio gratutio, vero motivo per cui ho scelto questa struttura. Altrimenti, se volete visitare Siracusa, sono sicuro che si possa trovare ospitalità presso B&B più vicine alla zona di maggior interesse turistico e che spesso, oltre ad offrire quelle comodità "moderne", sanno trasferire tutto il calore della Sicilia e deliziarvi con colazioni ricche di prelibatezze locali.

A big, venerable classic hotel, this. The reception area oozes class, with a red carpet in the main staircase to first floor. The rooms show signs of age, though. Some mechanical parts are rather worn, and the shower head had no holder. Also, the wifi was rather temperamental; it was much better near the reception, so that’s where I went to do some work. The cleanliness was great, though, and there was a massive balcony to enjoy. The breakfast was good also, it took place in a massive hall on the ground floor, and the pool area was great. Half an hour’s walk to Ortigia island, but I became an ardent user of the widely available Elerent electrical scooters, so no big problem. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Lovely room with balcony and sea view. Amazing swimming pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely grounds. Easy to get into and back from Syracuse using the 105 bus. Walking distance to archeological museum and San Giovanni catacombs.

There is an elegance of a past era about the place and it is well maintained. The breakfasts were a highlight with a wide range of options, well prepared and arranged. Our room had a small balcony with a view, was well appointed and comfortable. The negatives were a tiny shower cubicle in the bathroom and the sound insulation from neighbouring rooms was not good.

a beautiful classic hotel with history as the first hotel in1862 sits on the top of a historic quarry. food was great breakfast buffet and dinner room was comfortable and had A/C working.

Dans le cadre de notre tour de Sicile cet hôtel demeure très moyen pour le bruit perçu dans les chambres (chambres proches et chambre au dessus des cuisines ) et pdj avec jus de fruits chimiques et mauvais café. A éviter.

Made a reservation with a baby crib. The night of arrival I get an email with that the reserved baby crib is in use by other guest and we cannot have the one we reserved. This was after the cancellation policy ended. No effort made in compensating or trying to solve the issue. Service level is lower than you would expect of a 1 star hotel in Italy. There are a lot of good hotels and places to stay in Syracuse, my recommendation - stay somewhere else.

Made a reservation with a baby crib. The night of arrival I get an email with that the reserved baby crib is in use by other guest and we cannot have the one we reserved. This was after the cancellation policy ended. No effort made in compensating or trying to solve the issue. Service level is lower than you would expect of a 1 star hotel in Italy. There are a lot of good hotels and places to stay in Syracuse, my recommendation - stay somewhere else.

We loved the Villa Politi, a grand hotel with a very interesting history. The guest areas are spacious and the pool beautiful. The only concern we had, the dinner service was a little slow due to large tour groups dining, the staff were under pressure. We would have also appreciated tea/coffee making facilities in our room. We would definitely stay there again.

It is a lovely property with a nice amount of history. The staff were fairly arrogant and seemed to feel that we were lucky to be able to stay there. We asked for a simple kettle so we could make a morning cup of tea (we were surprised that the rooms don't have kettles) and the response at reception was one of shock; we could come downstairs and buy cups of tea. We were made to feel that we had asked a very inappropriate question!

We chose this hotel because we have friends who live nearby and because it looked interesting. It’s definitely faded grandeur, large public spaces, good sized bedroom, outdoor seating and a lovely pool and everything worked.The downside was the breakfast, great the first day but then seemed to have a limited supply of fresh fruit etc. The coffee was unspeakably awful. The walk into the centre of Ortiga is about 25 mins and around 15 euros for a taxi but in the day the red tour bus, 10 euros, hop on hop off, stops very close to the hotel and opposite a great little restaurant

This hotel was lovely we were delighted with our room 102 fabulous with 2 balconies, staff were extremely friendly and helpful, was a real treat. Only downside is its a good 20min walk to old town and 20 Euros taxi back at night. We felt the hotel was worth the walk as pool area was great

An old elegant hotel with great service and a modern pool complex. Breakfast was heavy on pastries and sweets, not my taste but some prefer that. Location is too far to walk to the old city but makes up for that with a nice pool. A nice addition in the heat of July. I would stay again. Free and easy parking as well if you have a car.

Good hotel. We had 3 days at this location and I picked the propery based on the private beach advertised on the website. Given it was 30C in mid June we didn’t expect that the beach will be closed. This was disappointing- they only open thier private beach in August but show it in all hotel photos- long walk to all other attractions. We had to taxi everywhere. Would not stay there again based on that.

Lovely clean sheets, I really rate the cleanliness of this hotel as I have a dust allergy. A multitude of gluten free options for breakfast, nice staff. I extended my stay by an extra 2 nights. It's a bit of a walk into Ortigia but good to get your steps in with so much fantastic food on offer!

Hotellet ligger et kedeligt sted, lidt for langt fra det meget hyggelige Ortigia. Der er ikke rigtig noget i området, der trækker op. Men det var nemt at komme dertil, parkeringsforholdene var gode, venligt personale, fine værelser og ret fine udeforhold omkring hotellet.

A lovely and charming historical hotel in a quieter neighbourhood outside the centre. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and relaxing by the pool and walked in to the old town at Ortigia every day, it’s about half an hour if you are used to walking. The pool is very nice and there are plenty of sun beds, no need to reserve. All the staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful, from the front desk to restaurant, bar, housekeeping and pool bar. The air conditioning can be quite noisy but we eventually figured out how to adjust it and switch it off, and the reception staff were also very helpful about found this remotely for us as an alternative solution. The grounds are impressive and it’s a short walk to a sea view, cycle and walking or jogging path north along the coast, and even closer to the Zen solarium platform where you can book sun beds and swim in the sea (down steps into rocks, not a beach). Grand Hotel Villa Politi has everything you need for a pleasing and relaxing holiday, especially if you don’t want to be right in the thick of the bustling old town but have more room to breathe.

The rooms are really nice, smaller than pictures, but nice. View was ok, small porthole in a Concrete wall. Pool was great, breakfast was amazing. Staff are very friendly and attentive. We had a car so it was 7 minute drive to parking outside Ortigia every evening plus we did day trips to Noto, Catania, Marzemeni, Brucoli. Parking was easy and convenient. Great value for the price. I would stay again. We rented a self captained boat as well, coast is beautiful, and we ate every night in Ortigia. We split our time between Syracusa-Ortigia and Taormina.
