Fairfield Inn Tuscaloosa

Very disappointed the indoor pool was closed “for cleaning”. Saw no one working on it. Front desk was clueless. I expect this from Days Inn, not from Marriott.

Overall stay and room quality was very good but pool was closed and elevator broke down during stay. Only 3 floors so not a big deal. Breakfast just okay.

Due to remodeling, the hotel was in disarray. Furnishings need replaced and beds had no bedskirts on them.

The property is being remodeled which wasn’t disclosed until our arrival. Our a/c unit leaked so badly that the carpet was soaked. We have liked this property in the past. Can only hope that the remodel will be done soon.

I have never stayed in a Farfield Inn by Marriot like the one I stayed in. The door to the room had a gap in it! It was not tightly closed! The bed had crumbs in it! The bathtub looked like pigs had played in it! Only one elevator in the building! The smell in the hotel was very unpleasant! I should have been given my money back! I will never stay at the Hotel never at 4101!!

The gentleman who checked us in, Curtis, was very welcoming upon arriving and helpful when I needed extra bath supplies at 1:30 a.m. The property was easy to find and good value especially being so close to the University of Alabama campus. Breakfast was good...lots of choices and checkout options were good. Only negative was the one elevator that is a little slow & could use updated. We would definitely stay again!

It was a decent property for a decent price. Staff was very pleasant. Indoor pool was a bit chilly.

Nice room, clean. Great service by staff, friendly. Some exterior remodeling going on, but nothing that took away from stay. Would stay here again. Good location for proximity to campus, restaurants, etc

The room was extremely damp, smelled of mildew and also had a horrible sewage smell. Will never stay here again.

Generally good for the price point. Staff was great! Only complaint, Bugs- I left carry-out on the desk and fell asleep around 11pm. When I woke around 4am I found the food and surrounding area had been discovered by sugar ants and hundreds were marching on the table and desk, leading to an external wall. Did not complain to front desk as I was leaving for work directly. Threw the food away in the hall and left. When I came back the next evening the ants were gone. That night i sat down at the desk to eat again and a spider ran out at me. I smashed it immediately. Then another jumped out from the blankets when I opened them to get in. If you want pictures, reach out. I have the ants and the first spider.

This was the worst hotel ever. Room had bleach all over the bathroom and ruin my toddlers shirts when they tried to wash there has. The room had ants everywhere and I stayed one night because I drove over 11hrs and was tired.

Clean, staff was great, easy to find restaurants nearby. Sports bar close is great! The morning free breakfast was good, too.

Cleanliness was really good. Especially the bathroom. TV options and charging ports could be more advanced. Breakfast was good. Staff were helpful & pleasant.

The property has not been well-kept. The door handle to the bathroom was broken, the carpet (albeit new looking)was tattered. The room was damp and smelled.

My room smelled bad and was very humid to the point that the bathroom floor was damp. The curtain was broken and didn’t close all the way so there was a bright light from the parking lot shining in all night. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Good location. Short drive off hwy 20. Wondered if Fairfield bought a smaller older hotel and refurbished it? Carpets were brand new freshly painted. Easy 8 minute walk to restaurants and shopping. Haven't had breakfast yet breakfast room looked small and in the lobby. Only complaint you could hear the highway noise. White noise but still. Slept well despite that and very inexpensive to stay. Good value.

The property was adequate, not fancy but adequate. Really tough to get onto the main road due to a blind spot and there's a decent amount of road noise seeing as it's right on Interstate 20.

Being on a highway, there was a lot of traffic noise. It wasn't that bad but it was definitely noticeable. The cooling/heating unit was pretty loud, too. Fortunately it was a comfortable temperature without it so I turned it off.

Bed was comfortable. Decor a little dated but overall nice

The outlets are worn out (almost all the outlets in the room were not very good, anything I tried to plug into outlet, very loose connection).

The girl at front desk and no clue what she was doing when she checked us in and she needs better training and customer service skills

Drove 5.5 hours from Florida because we were in the area to purchase a new car. Great customer service, clean and good location! We did not use the indoor pool, but it looked nice! They have a snack area in the lobby, plenty of seating and breakfast with coffee. Would stay here again! Not sure of the man’s name that we did a late check in with on May 19th, but he was so nice and helpful and quick to check us in!

3 nights, No phone in the room, sink did not drain,no housekeeping service. When service finally did happen, left dirty cups on table, did not replace coffee or used cups. Desk help on their cell phones every time we went to the front desk. Had speak to them to get them to pay attention. This a MARRIOTT, not a Roadway.

Other guest were rude and a lot of noise at night between 11:00pm and midnight. I called the front desk staff and no answer. I walked to the front desk and there she was. The front desk staff claimed that the phone wasn’t working. I advised of the issue with other guests making loud noise.

I loved this stay! The staff was so kind and made the check in/out process so fast and easy. The rooms were excellent and clean. The weather was extremely hot but you couldn’t even tell in the rooms because the amenities worked so well. I loved this property and would stay here every time I traveled to the area.

Hotel was overbooked but they did get me a reservation at another hotel, with great effort. Tried to call them when I was first notified but the answering machine hung up on me about a dozen times. When I arrived about six hours later, only then, when they tried to call another hotel, that they discovered their phones weren’t working - SIX HOURS. They finally got a hold of someone who told me to go to the hotel next door. I got to that hotel and the front desk clerk was not informed but she did figure out the problem and got us situated. The staff at the Fairfield was totally incompetent.

What this property lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in customer service. My dauggter and I stayed here while she her orientation at the U of Alabama. I can't even detail how above and beyond this staff went to make our stay feel like we were with family. I believe the manager is Luke and I don't even want to gove specifics about some of the ways he helped our stay.....(if you read this..think bedding for my daughter). Over the next 4 years, this will be my go to hotel while my daughter is in college. Super close to campus, stores, food, beer, everything.

I booked my room through a 3rd party although I am a marriott rewards member. I was told that my stay wouldn't count towards earning points for the rewards program. I was also denied early check-in although I was told by the young lady at the front desk that I could check-in early. She was nice about it. So I wasn't mad. She may be friendly but upon arriving at the hotel to check-in the professionalism and customer service was lacking. Apparently something happened before we arrived because staff from housekeeping was at the front desk and they were having a conversation. The front desk clerk who checked us in was trying to talk low because guests were standing there waiting to check-in. The female cleaning staff made a statement and rolled her eyes as if whatever happened upset her. It was hard to ignore her because she boldly stated in front of us that this is why a general manager need to be here. I can't say that I was surprised, but it was unprofessional. If you are going to have this type of conversation, please do it when no one is standing there to be checked in or occupying the lobby area. When we were finally checked in, as soon as we entered the room it smelt like mildew. Like the carpet was wet. Shout out to the lady who prepared and put out breakfast. She was nice and professional. I will not return.

I'd like to recommend your staff member Tammy. We had an issue with our rental car. She went above and beyond to help us out. Her kindness made are day. She was awesome!!!!

Very easy to get to from the interstate, fast food nearby, relatively safe and easy considering proximity to I-20.

Very convenient to Univ of Alabama and food and shops. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Hotel sits facing Interstate 20/59 with no buffers between the hotel and the traffic noise. The hotel front entrance is probably 75 yards from the interstate. So even in your room all you can hear is traffic, horns, trucks and close by is also a set of train tracks so you get that as well. It was hard to sleep, even with our room fan on high, to avoid that traffic noise. So if you like quiet, this is not your hotel. When we first checked in they were unable to give us key cards, they escorted us to our room to let us in. So that now means we couldn't leave the room and come back with out an escort to let us back in. About an hour later, as we waited in the room to hear from them, they sent a text that we could come and get them. S instead of bringing them to us, we had to go by and pick them up. The TV in the room did not work, the AC was bad, luckily it wasn't summer yet in the south, the toilet was dirty and you only had 2 hand towels, 2 wash clothes and 2 bath towels. For a Marriott property this was a poor example of what they stand for as a company. I have stayed at many hotels in Tuscaloosa over the years and this one ranks near the bottom.

Easy access to the interstate

Bed wasn’t very comfortable. There was a stain on the shower curtain. The toilet seat wouldn’t stay up when my husband used the bathroom. Breakfast was decent enough, but they ran out of coffee, and the trash was over-flowing.

The room was not available as advertised, they changed my room and added a charge. The breakfast was too late to be useful. The room smelled awful, I really should have demanded a different room but I was so exhausted I decided to just put up with it.
