I reserved a one bedroom suite with full kitchen for multiple nights. I had planned to use the kitchen to prepare meals. I was very disappointed to discover that the kitchen had nothing available to use for meal preparation. No plates, cutlery, mugs or glasses. No pots and pans. Nothing.

Very good price for a place in Alameda. The facility is old, but the room was spacious 2 queen beds, 3 closets, stove, microwave, refrigerator, and a small table for four. Free breakfast, Free parking. I would stay again.

Easy access to beach, dining and other shops. Plenty of parking. Easy access to event we were in town to attend. Carpets need cleaning or replacing. I asked for ground floor but had to climb stairs to 2nd floor. No elevator and I'm a senior with bad knees.

This place is way over due for a deep cleaning and some major renovations. Not very clean and very run down. I will not stay there again. On the plus side, the pool was surprisingly nice and the place is conveniently close to the beach and a major shopping centre.

This is an old style place with lots of room and quiet. It hasn’t been updated in a good while, so it isn’t fancy, but the beds are good and the place is super clean. The kitchens in the rooms make this already affordable place that much more affordable. The service is good and the parking is safe. I have been staying here for the last two years any time I come to town. For the price, it can’t be beat. And less than a block from Alameda Beach is a super bonus.

This place is not fancy by any means, but it is very clean and well cared for. It is showing its age, but the price is so good for all the amenities. Having a real kitchen to cook in makes staying in the bay so much more affordable. And being close to alameda beach it such a nice thing. The entire staff is professional and responsive.

I love coming here every year at the same time. This place feels like home away from home to me. I especially love the proximity to the bay. Only two downsides: the carpets are badly stained in the suites where I always stay, and there is no ice-machine anywhere on the property.

Driving up it looked a little outdated but fine. Checking in was great and friendly. Walking up the stairs to second floor to my room was gross. Stairs were nasty dirty and stinky. Got to room and the light wouldn’t turn on. Kept flickering so we just kept it off. Not a big deal since the other lights worked. But inside the room the carpet was just as gross. Visibly dirt spots and squeaky floor underneath. The curtain in front of the sliding door was also disgustingly dirty. The beds were awful to sleep on. You could feel the springs. The walls were dirty next to the bathroom door handle. The remote had nasty gunk in between the buttons. The only plus was that the sheets smelled clean and so did the towels in the bathroom. Do your self a favor and look somewhere else to stay.

Terrible place to stay and don’t recommend to anyone. Supposedly it is a no smoking hotel but soon as you opened the door you get hit in the face with the stench of cigarettes. Light switches not working or lights flickering. Furniture reeked and dirty and bugs everywhere. I had booked for two nights, We couldn’t sleep and had to rough it out for the night and was out at first light. Definitely not worth the money.

Coral Reef has always had a fabulous reputation - great location and a fun family place to stay during vaca times. It’s sad to see the decline of the property over the last 30 yrs since I’ve known it. Just sad. I mean - it’s ok to not upgrade - but how hard is it to vacuum and mop? I was surprised to see how unclean the rooms were. While in my room, I stepped on a pinto bean, an m and m and touched a band aid that was stuck to the side of the bed. I’ve always enjoyed staying there - despite the riff raff in and around the building but sadly - this will be last visit. I’m pretty easy going but the rooms were even too filthy and unkempt for the most relaxed me! Most places to stay in the area are not that great either and charge twice the price so pick your poison!

The stairs from the lobby to the 2nd floor looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. The carpet was threadbare. When we opened the door to our room it immediately smelled terrible. The room was so questionable that we went across the street to Home Goods to buy sheets and a candle. We did not bother to try the provided breakfast.

The room was dirty, outdated and filthy! Stained furniture with tears in the fabrics. The toilet flushed only once then needed to be refilled by hand. Mildew in the shower! I wouldn’t recommend anybody to stay here!

Weird Stains all over the curtains and walls, tub and ceilings were moldy, the air conditioner didn't work at all, thankfully there was one old ceiling fan but was very wobbly. The balcony outside had a wasp nest so we coundnt go out there. The place looks like it hasn't had any type of remodel since the early eighties. No joke. Shady people lurk around the streets and parking lot. Breakfast is super minimal and sad. Honestly I never leave reviews on any hotels but this was pretty crappy especially for being over $100. I wouldn't complain if I was paying about $50 a night..this is what id expect. Pics online are decieving too.

Probably one of the dirtiest places ive ever stayed. Changed rooms immediately...should have left, but i pre paid. There were actually poop stains on the furniture. The health department needs to visit this place. I wanted to add pics but your app wouldnt let me

Dirty rooms. Cigarette burns in the bed sheets. Curtains falling apart. Obvious smoke smell in the room. Even found a lighter under the chairs. Would not recommend this place. Definitely the worst hotel/inn we've ever stayed at.

I think this is my new favorite hotel in the East Bay. Alameda is such a vibrant place, generally clean and safe. The hotel is very near the beach with good parking access. The room was spacious and clean, although the carpet was a bit worn and the sofa sagged in th middle. The king suite was larger than my first apartment, and even had a full sized range with an oven. You can check out kitchen ware from the office. I will definitely stay here again.

The front desk, housekeeping and maintenance people are all exceptional. The property is clean, and the rooms are quite spacious. My only recommendation is that the property get an update. New paint, carpet, furniture and appliances. Also, there aren't enough sockets for phone charging, and the rooms could use more/brighter lighting.

Rooms are very outdated, uncomfortable mattresses, very old cabinets, poor working TVs ( Had to change rooms. 1st TV did not work. No phone charging USB ports on night tables. Basically needs all new furniture and window coverings

Our second floor room had a beautiful view of the small lake behind the building. The hotel is very dated but very comfortable and roomy. We enjoyed our stay.

We had a very large room. Wonderful view of the water and ducks to greet us each morning. The hotel could use some upgrades; furnishings showed age, chips and holes. Staff was friendly and location was very good.

The room smelled very musty and in some areas smelled of urine or something similarly foul. The internet did not work. The wifi given was not available as written and the password did not work with the wifi names that were similar. The chair and sofa in the living area were uncomfortable to sit in. I did enjoy the view from the patio and the amount of space were nice. The tv was easy to sign into my accounts so I could conveniently watch my streaming services.

This is just a very old property, so you must have realistic expectations when you book here. The important things were there. Comfortable bed, quiet, and perfect location close to grocery, parks and walking by the bay. There are little upgrades happening, so each room could vary by mattresses, carpet, etc... The complimentary continental breakfast is very convenient.

Very friendly and helpful staff made my stay awesome along with spacious rooms, homestyle comfort, and quiet, relaxing environment with garden, lagoon, and tranquil and serene surroundings and views of nature (beautiful ducks and birds).

Just saw bottom-end rooms (got the most economical), and my room was old and in great disrepair. But it was clean, and the hotel staff was very responsive to everything, and immediately moved me in a room that suited my needs. Best qualities: location (across the street from both a beach on the Bay and a shopping center with grocery, restaurants, and clothing and specialty stores; and the responsiveness of the staff.

This place is not fancy by any means, but it is very clean and well cared for. It is showing its age, but the price is so good for all the amenities. Having a real kitchen to cook in makes staying in the bay so much more affordable. And being close to alameda beach it such a nice thing. The entire staff is professional and responsive.

The young lady at the front desk seemed miserable and unapproachable. Luis, was great! He worked the breakfast shift on Christmas Eve. The suite I stayed in was very dated. The suite was not cleaned upon my arrival. Arm chair, sofa and coffee table was stained, dirty and old. I had to buy 3 Glade air fresheners to get rid of old smells. I did have a good time here but that front desk worker as I mentioned above was not helpful and needs to be retrained .

The area is Quiet and very comfortable but the staff does not have customer service. They made me wait. About 15 minutes until I was able to get checked in because they were working on something else. Instead of helping the customer hotel does need to get remodeled and get updated. There is some stuff that shouldn’t be looking as dingyas it did.

Location is great!! Walking distance to beach, bowling alley is next door and a huge plaza with restaurants, shops and grocery stores across the street. You don't really need to drive any where since every thing you need is walkable. The hotel does need serious updating. The tvs, furniture and carpet is super old. Get a room by the water it makes ups for the outdated rooms.

This is an old style place with lots of room and quiet. It hasn’t been updated in a good while, so it isn’t fancy, but the beds are good and the place is super clean. The kitchens in the rooms make this already affordable place that much more affordable. The service is good and the parking is safe. I have been staying here for the last two years any time I come to town. For the price, it can’t be beat. And less than a block from Alameda Beach is a super bonus.

Beautiful property. Very clean rooms and very quiet. Less than a minute walk to the beach for a Beautiful sunset with the san francisco skyline. There is a lot of options nearby for bars and restaurants, also a bowling alley with arcade right next door. I would stay here again and again.

We had a very large room. Wonderful view of the water and ducks to greet us each morning. The hotel could use some upgrades; furnishings showed age, chips and holes. Staff was friendly and location was very good.

We came in for the Alameda 10-miler running event. The Coral Reef was within walking distance of the stsrt line. It was a clean and convenient motel for that purpose.

This hotel is a little dated but it is in an excellent location - only one block to the Alameda beach and shoreline. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. Located in a safe quiet area with awesome views of SF just steps away! Great value for the money.

The place might have looked clean but the light switches did not work you had to actually manually turn them all on they only gave one towel for four people in a room. Also the continental breakfast was so very poor.

I liked the location of this property. There are things to do within walking distance. Also, the front desk, while not particularly friendly, did provide what we needed, including a request for additional towels. The Continental breakfast was below average, opffering only pre-packaged pastries, and no non-dairy creamer for the coffee.

Walls seem to be very thin; we had noisy neighbors below our room, and their loud voices were easily heard, both before bedtime and at 3:00am. We moved to a different room, which was better, but could still hear noise from the next room. Breakfast is minimal, a continental selection of sweet rolls, coffee, juice, and toast. Price was the drawing factor, way lower than competing hotels on the island. You get what you are willing to pay for, and we knew what to expect (except for the noise in adjacent rooms.

This is an old Inn with a lot of wear and tear and generally dirty. But important stuff such as bedding, towels and bathroom were clean! Breakfast included with a very basic selection. Close to shopping area with a lot of food options.

You get what you pay for. It’s not the Ritz , Hilton or Grand. It’s an Old hotel with a lot of use under its belt. The staff was nice. Great location near everything. The continental breakfast was lacking. I would stay again for a budget friendly vacay.

This is just a very old property, so you must have realistic expectations when you book here. The important things were there. Comfortable bed, quiet, and perfect location close to grocery, parks and walking by the bay. There are little upgrades happening, so each room could vary by mattresses, carpet, etc... The complimentary continental breakfast is very convenient.

Oh boy, this place must've been in a constant state of decay for decades to get to the decrepit condition it's in now. Everything is dirty, worn out, and gross. We couldn't stay there and left after lifting the bedding and seeing the horrific stains on the mattresses. The room smelled bad, the beds smelled bad, the hallway smelled bad; it was just gross.

Scary dirty rooms...beware! There are a large group of related people living on the property...very loud and make you feel uncomfortable walking around them. Pool doesn't work...no real breakfast. Good location...except for the motel grounds.

Is it super clean? No. Does all of the electric and lighting work? Also, no. Did I double check the room for hidden bodies and/or cameras? Rather not say. All that aside, the room is big with with a big balcony, the location is great, the outside property is pretty and it’s super affordable. If you need a place to sleep and a bathroom it’s a solid choice. The rooms are big enough that a family on a budget could stay in one comfortably if they were out exploring through the day.
