We spent 4 nights here in mid October in a one bedroomed unit. The building and grounds were very well maintained and the unit was modern and stylish with plenty of home comforts. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and crockery for preparing cold or hot food. A nice pool area which was not crowded during our visit (neither was the resort) and whilst we didn’t make use of the BBQ grills, we saw a number of others doing so. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony which had a view of the beach. A short walk to the beach and some local restaurants and only a short drive to San Luis Obispo and the PCH. This is a good alternative to a hotel room with the additional space and options to self cater and we wouldn’t hesitate to chose a vacation club in future.

We were given an absolutely stunning room with the ocean view!!! The room itself has been all updated. We also love the free coffee and tea available all day long. The heated pool and spa offers a great way to get some exercise and to unwind.

The room was good size for its value. The resort offers excellent amenities including heated outdoor pool, BBQ area, club room, convenient parking, and a gym. The property overlooks Avila Beach including breathtaking views. The room was clean including a full kitchen.

I would give it 5 stars, but the hot tub wasnt hot enough, about 93-4 degrees. Geogeous views! Wonderful stay for families and couples. The game room is large and fun!

Spacious room. Great access to Avila beach as well as restaurants. Enjoyed the two pickleball courts onsite as well as the hot tub. We didn't use the pool but noticed that it was a comfortable temperature for February.

We are members at San Luis Bay and have stayed there quite a few times and has always been very nice. We love what they did with the exercise room and the pool table and Ping-pong table rec room. They both have views of the ocean very nice upgrade. Our room had views of the mountains and views of downtown Avila very beautiful. Walking distance to Avila stores and markets and bars. Also the beach.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and much larger than we anticipated for a mini suite. We arrived early and our room was ready so we were able to check in sooner. The entire staff was accommodating, friendly and helpful. We loved all of the amenities from the gym to the games and fire pit. We can’t wait to return and stay longer.

As this is a vacation club, not a typical hotel, you are charged a resort fee which I knew in advance. Amenities included a swimming pool, child pool, fitness center, pool table, foosball table, large chess/checkers, shuffleboard and cornhole set. Everything was clean and in working order. The room was well organized and clean. Had a full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. Had a stove, microwave and refrigerator. The bed was comfortable and clean. Only complaint was the couch was not comfortable. Since we were there only 2 nights, there was no room cleaning. Overall we had a great stay at this location and would definitely stay there again.

This is a very family friendly property. The rooms are spacious, well furnished and quiet. The game room, pool, and barbecue areas are kept very clean and in good condition. Check in was very disappointing, however. Both of our rooms were not ready at 4pm (already a late check in time). Our rooms were not ready until after 5pm. No consideration or compensation was offered. very disappointed in management’s incompetence. Room cleanliness was questionable. We had to clean a large sticky spot on the kitchen floor and our cleaning cloth came up with black smudges and long dark hair, also.

Kitchen was clean although we did notice there was some popcorn left under the fridge from a prior guest. The master bedroom was clean, but the shower had a lingering hair from the prior guest. The second bedroom was smaller with the 2 beds, that restroom had an empty shower gel container that wasn’t filled before we arrived. The grounds was nice, beautiful scene of the ocean and beach! That evening was chilly, there was only one occupied fire pit, we wished they had a few spread around the grounds to sit by and enjoy the views. Overall very nice property, clean gym room, good size pools and hot tubs, bbq areas, and wonderful play area with football table, shuffle board, billiards, giant chessboard and ping pong table. Malcom was great checking us in and making sure we enjoyed our 3 days there!

Our room itself was very clean, absolutely no concerns about that. The screen on the patio door needs attention, tho. Nice to have a full size fridge. The lobby area needed vacuuming and a wet mop. Great location by the beach.

I have been staying at this hotel for 27 years. Every time I use a 3rd party site they treat us terribly. I booked in advance and they gave us a mediocre room with no view and we asked to be close to the pool since we have certain needs. They wouldn’t accommodate. Concierge wouldn’t even greet us. The place is just going down hill. After 27 years I think it’s time to move on and get an airbnb or something different. So sad. The rooms never change but our bathroom was full of black mold which is hazardous. Bye Bye San Luis bay inn

We enjoyed sitting on our balcony which had a view of the beach. A short walk to the beach and some local restaurants and only a short drive to San Luis Obispo and the PCH. This is a good alternative to a hotel room with the additional space and options to self cater and we wouldn’t hesitate to chose a vacation club in future.

Resort was nice with great views. The room we were assigned was the worst I've ever been. There were nothing but the walls when opened the balcony door. Felt like jail room! I asked for differebt room but no luck...room 322 was ok but the view was really, really bad!!! People walking in the hallway can see the room inside!!!

Nice ocean view. Loved sitting on the grass and watching the pelicans hunt for fish. It is an easy, short walk to front street. It would be nice if they had a restaurant on the property with indoor and outdoor seating and a bar. The beds are comfortable but you can hear the next door neighbors, and above you, walking back and forth all night long and early morning. Overall, it is a nice place to stay and we will stay again.

I would of rated excellent with staff but three times our keys would not work in the lock. We had to walk down to tell staff. He just kept giving us new keys. Finally sent maintenance up to get in. It was the door sticking so bad, hard to push in. Happened the next day also and finally maintenance fixed it. Otherwise the best room, view, kitchen, beds, and most fun for a girls trip. We walked to Avila, enjoyed shopping, ate at Custom House, had ice cream and walked back. So convenient. Thank you all for having such a great property to share.

Honestly, due to the location (beautiful Avila beach!) and price, my Mom and I were a little apprehensive, expecting it must be a bit run down, maybe staff/service wouldn't be great, but for the location and price we were willing to give it a shot. Boy were we happy we made that choice!!! Our room was about half the price one of the rooms right down town was and we ended up with a two bedroom condo basically, that could have slept 6. Two separate bathrooms, and a full kitchen. Ocean view. The service was amazing, the people were so friendly and accommodating. The rooms seem like they had been remodeled not that long ago. This was one of the best stays I've had for the price in quite some time. Highly recommend!

The newly renovated rooms are nice, but they did not warn us about all of the loud construction going on from 7:45am to 6pm. There was tar and roofing material on our balcony and it was impossible to relax during the morning through the afternoon. Beautiful area and views though.

Being near the ocean probably causes more wear on a rental facility, but it appears that Hilton has painted the property. I wish they would update the furniture. The bed was too soft for my liking. There is a view of Avila Beach in most rooms.

The one king suite is a great room! The private bedroom is perfect. It had 2 separate bathrooms and a full kitchen. The only issue was the heater in the living room area didn’t work. The bedroom did, but the living room was cold. We love how you can walk to the main area of Avila.

Booked vacation for my pregnant wife and 1 year old Daughter. Had two reservations to stay a total of 6 nights. When I arrived on Monday, I told the receptionist to give me a room to stay all week since we did not want to move to different rooms with pregnant wife and baby. He gave a room and assured me two days on a road I was taking cared of. After 1st reservation ended, new reception told me that I could not stay in the same room and that I would need to move with family to a different room. Very disturbing. I asked to speak with a manager and someone named Joe Forgette called me. He told me he could not do anything since the room was booked to someone who was paying more money. He did not care about my family. Stay away from This place. They don’t care kids, pregnant women or families. To make things even worst, I had to take my 1 year daughter to doctor and when I was coming back to the hotel they left a msg saying they were going to move my belongings to the new room without my authorization. What’s Wrong with this people? Insanity. Very disturbing. By far the worst experience I had in my life.

There was a fire alarm twice during our 2 night stay. The first one was at 4am. We could not get ahold of anyone at the front desk so we had to walk down there to see what was going on. The desk clerk was not too worried and there was no fire dept there. She said she thought it was a false alarm. Not very comforting. When I mentioned when I checked out that I thought it was not handled very well, there was no apology I was just told they were short staffed and they aren’t a hotel they are a timeshare. They is mot very hospitable. I’ll not stay here again or recommend it.

I enjoyed my stay, my room was nice and I really enjoyed the deep soaking tub. I liked having a full kitchen, that gave me a lot of flexibility to be more frugal during my stay and not eating out. Be warned* The “concierge” was really just a sales rep for the resort and was pretty pushy about plans during my visit and if could make time for an hour long presentation. Are people really still buying into time shares these days?

Staff was friendly and generally helpful. The pull-out couch had a sharp spring sticking out that ripped the sheet. We asked for a toilet plunger and they said they would bring it to our room, but after waiting for 20 minutes, I went down and discovered they had looked for one, but didn’t find it. They looked somewhere else, found one and we took care of the problem. The pool & hot tub were nice, and we enjoyed the games (corn hole, ping pong). They gave us a late check out, which we appreciated.

We were very happy with our stay here. It was exceptionally clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen in our room was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal. The bathroom was nice a big and the king size bed was very comfy. We even had an ocean view from our little deck. There isn't a shuttle into Avila Beach but it is very close. A short walk down the driveway and across the bridge and you're there. The only part is you have to come back up the driveway on your return and it is kind of steep. All in all we loved our stay.

This hotel has stunning views of Avila Beach. Its located on top of a hill so we were able to relax with perfect view and sound of waves. We took short walks to Avila and Port San Luis to eat. Staff was nice. We didnt get our room clean throughout our stay and the fire alarm woke us up both nights at 4am. Both times were false alarms but very scary. The hotel only has coffee it would be nice if they would add continental breakfast since restaurants are walking distance or expand their pool table area by adding a bar & lounge. Every business and restaurant closes at 8pm so it would be nice to have something to do. Our overall stay was very relaxing for our first time at Avila.

Seems nice enough but clearly understaffed and dated despite generally decent upkeep of the property. Access on busy beach days is a little challenging but on site parking is adequate once on property. No food options are located on site except vending machines so most people bring groceries for the kitchen and head into SLO or Pismo/5 Cities for meals. Our room was small but it worked for our family of 5 with the sofa bed and king setup. Kitchen had all the necessities amd bathroom was nice. Overall good facilities but we were a bit past 4 pm for check in and the dishwasher was running super loud for the first 90 minutes of our stay, which is fine but not ideal after a long drive and you hope to relax.

The hotel is in a gray location, walking distance to Avalara, the beach, the shops, and wine tasting. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was ultra friendly and helpful. The only downside was no restaurant or bar on the premises. That needs to be addressed.
