Stayed for two nights mid-week. It's really everything you can ask for in a small property so close to the beach, without all the major hotel chain fluff thown in. From the warm check in experience which included going over all amenities such as the pantry, wifi, parking and the welcome basket waiting for you in the room(which items can be exchanged for what you want in the pantry. Water for coke, popcorn for beef jerky. Just swap it, no hassle and nobody to talk to). The room has a full kitchen, a small island table in the middle with a nice Samsung TV and a balcony. The bathroom is famtastic as well with a large soaker tub and his + hers sinks. One thing to note is the toilet doesn't have a lid and it's located directly in front of the shower. As this is an older property that makes sense, just personal preference. In closing: from the curated decor and friendly staff, to the daily homemade croissants, wine tastings and nacho bar(oh and pie time from 8-9!), this is truly the only place you should stay in the Avila Beach, SLO or Pismo area. 11/10

This is such a little gem. Quaint and charming Spanish decor. Only one half block to the beach. Free happy hour, coffee and pastries and late night pie with ice cream. Plus a complementary basket of goodies upon arrival. I could not recommend this place more. It’s adults only so very quiet and peaceful.

Front Desk Staff was excellent, informing us of the taco bar til 2:00, happy hour and dessert pie at 8:00. We were able to park underground before our room was ready and received a call when we could check in. Housekeeping had to show us where to turn off the fan that was going when we entered the room. We received a beautiful tile upon checking out... an unusual and welcomed parting gift. All and all, it was a great experience.

Loved staying here! Super cute place just steps from the beach. Several great touches like the receptions, dvds, snacks etc. Also very easy to park and get in and out of town if you want to check out other places too!

Great service and they have 4 different services throughout the day from breakfast to pie it was excellent. They also have a gift basket waiting in the room as well as a gift on departure. Great location near beach and restaurants. A bit outdated, but that gives it certain charm.

This hotel blows the rest of hotels in Avila Beach away! I would NOT recomend with familys with kids and babies. The service is amazing and the breakfast fresh croissants and coffee or OJ is 👌! Lunch is chips and salsa with beer 🍺 and dinner is charcuterie with wine. Beach is 1 minute away foot along with shops and restaurants.

Waking up to the fantastic smell of their super butter croissants baking is a great way to start the day. But it doesn't stop there. They offer guests an afternoon snack of chips and cheese, Late afternoon wine and hors d' oeuvres, and an evening dessert of pie and ice cream. The La Fonda has to be one of the greatest small hotels anywhere along the California coast.

Such a lovely and charming stay! This was a beautiful hotel with friendly staff that go out of their way to provide comfort. The room was large, homey and comfortable with a small balcony. They also had welcome cookies and treats, complimentary morning croissants and tea/coffee, afternoon salsa and chips, a wine and appetizers hour, and finally pie at the end of the night! It was all delicious. Would recommend this hotel every time and can't wait to go back again. Parking was also free and convenient (overnight street parking and an underground parking garage).

We couldn’t use the shower, because it was clogged, with bugs coming out of the drain. Breakfast was disappointing. Only 2 type of fatty croissant, milk, coffee, apples, fruit jam. No bread, no yogurt, no juices, no cereals. Talked to the front desk operator about both issues. He said it will be reported to management. After 1 week no calls, no emails, nothing.

They had several free dining opportunities. Breakfast was croissants, juice, coffee and fruit. Afternoon was chips and salsa beer. Happy hour was charcuterie tray and wine, after dinner was pie and ice cream. These were all delicious. The hotel is older and several upgrades could be made. Furniture is very old and scratched. Too much furniture for such a small room. Stand alone air conditioner very noisy. Large refrigerator, electric stove and dishwasher were not necessary for us. There are convenient eateries within walking distance. Shower door would not close properly and a few light bulbs needed to be replaced. We were near the beach and view from our balcony was asphalt parking structure. This was our first time and probably our last.

La Fonda is a Wonder Place to stay, We loved the Decor and most of All the Cleanliness. The Entire Staff was Very Welcoming and Friendly. If you needed Anything they were Right There to Help. We will Most Definitely Recommend La Fonda to Family & Friends! We Loved it!

The hotel was nice and quiet. Easy walking to the beach. However the WiFi wasn’t great and my shower never really got hot. The whirlpool tub didn’t work either. Kinda frustrating

This property is unique, and the staff members made this visit pleasant. The hotel is small and older, but maintained in excellent condition. The common area and rooms were clean. The location is perfect. The front desk staff member, Paulina, went above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. Our party interacted with her throughout our stay. Paulina gave us recommendations for places to visit and always greeted us with a smile. This type of customer service is a rarity in today's society. The freshly baked pies and croissants were always a good treat. I will be staying here when visiting the area. Paulina, we hope to see you when we come back and with the same enthusiasm.

This is 2nd time staying for a week. Love the atmosphere and all the goodies they provide. Only draw back was crusty stuff on outside of shower, that should have been cleaned. Kinda gross room 207. But besides that everything was great. We will definitely spend another week there soon. PS the authentic Mexican tile they gave us as we left was so special.

We stay in Avila yearly, but had never stayed at the La Fonda, although it’s so convenient to the beach! What a delight!! Our stay was such a treat, from the clean & cozy room, to the incredible staffing, and wonderful amenities each and every day!! It is completely charming and we will be back, without question!! Thank you, La Fonda!!! ♥️

This is a very charming small hotel (maybe 30 or so rooms?), kept in immaculate condition, and staffed by some of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet. They went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The area is very scenic, and there are numerous stores and restaurants for those so inclined. We will definitely be back !

Avila La Fonda Hotel is a wonderful hotel experience. The rooms are decorated with artful taste. Beds are very comfortable. Staff is amazingly attentive. Coupled with wine/appetizer reception, pie/ice cream before bed, morning coffee and croissants, and mid day salsa and chips and a welcome snack basket. The location is perfect. One block from the beach. We had a lovely balcony room to enjoy coffee and tea in the morning watching the adorable community of Avila come alive. We stayed one night, but went back a day later to enjoy this delightful experience again. We will definitely go back again.

Friendly staff. Continental breakast, wine and charcuterie in evening plus pie from bakery for dessert-yum! Room had fireplace and balcony plus kitchenette. Really more than we expected and only a block from the beach!

I was suprised at the special little things, like I didn't expect a kitchen, fireplace, and a jacuzzi tub! I guess I should examine things a little better when i make resevations next time. Also, free wine reception each evening and beer at lunch! Never seen that before, and what a brilliant idea that makes it even more special. Had a great time. Heard a little noise of people above me walking around a lot, but I would tolerate it again for sure. Its not that often that happens.
I was suprised at the special little things, like I didn't expect a kitchen, fireplace, and a jacuzzi tub! I guess I should examine things a little better when i make resevations next time. Also, free wine reception each evening and beer at lunch! Never seen that before, and what a brilliant idea that makes it even more special. Had a great time. Heard a little noise of people above me walking around a lot, but I would tolerate it again for sure. Its not that often that happens.

The hotel was nice and quiet. Easy walking to the beach. However the WiFi wasn’t great and my shower never really got hot. The whirlpool tub didn’t work either. Kinda frustrating

Very convenient and loads of perks! It’s a newer hotel and the décor is really cute. However, there is no view and there’s no central AC - at least not in my room. The weather was mild (60° F) but it was boiling in my room on the 2nd floor. We slept w the door open the entire night. If the weather was 70° it would be unbearable for me.

Nice jacuzzi tub after a long day of driving. Breakfast is pretty sparse. Fireplace only works when set to 90 degrees so unless you want to be really hot you need to turn it off. Otherwise room was comfortable. Really appreciated the Noon check out time.

This property is unique, and the staff members made this visit pleasant. The hotel is small and older, but maintained in excellent condition. The common area and rooms were clean. The location is perfect. The front desk staff member, Paulina, went above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. Our party interacted with her throughout our stay. Paulina gave us recommendations for places to visit and always greeted us with a smile. This type of customer service is a rarity in today's society. The freshly baked pies and croissants were always a good treat. I will be staying here when visiting the area. Paulina, we hope to see you when we come back and with the same enthusiasm.

This is a very charming small hotel (maybe 30 or so rooms?), kept in immaculate condition, and staffed by some of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet. They went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The area is very scenic, and there are numerous stores and restaurants for those so inclined. We will definitely be back !

Avila La Fonda Hotel is a wonderful hotel experience. The rooms are decorated with artful taste. Beds are very comfortable. Staff is amazingly attentive. Coupled with wine/appetizer reception, pie/ice cream before bed, morning coffee and croissants, and mid day salsa and chips and a welcome snack basket. The location is perfect. One block from the beach. We had a lovely balcony room to enjoy coffee and tea in the morning watching the adorable community of Avila come alive. Loved staying here! Super cute place just steps from the beach. Several great touches like the receptions, dvds, snacks etc. Also very easy to park and get in and out of town if you want to check out other places too!

We couldn’t use the shower, because it was clogged, with bugs coming out of the drain. Breakfast was disappointing. Only 2 type of fatty croissant, milk, coffee, apples, fruit jam. No bread, no yogurt, no juices, no cereals. Talked to the front desk operator about both issues. He said it will be reported to management. After 1 week no calls, no emails, nothing.

Happy hour was charcuterie tray and wine, after dinner was pie and ice cream. These were all delicious. The hotel is older and several upgrades could be made. Furniture is very old and scratched. Too much furniture for such a small room. Stand alone air conditioner very noisy. Large refrigerator, electric stove and dishwasher were not necessary for us. There are convenient eateries within walking distance. Shower door would not close properly and a few light bulbs needed to be replaced. We were near the beach and view from our balcony was asphalt parking structure. This was our first time and probably our last.

The Room was exceptional and cozy with a fireplace to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep, and I appreciated small touches like the gift basket we received from the onset. One of the highlights of my stay was amenities provided such as the cocktail hour and pie in the evening. And lest I forget the croissants in the morning, rivaled those from Paris! Overall, my experience at the hotel exceeded all expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for romantic getaway. I’ll definitely be returning for my next trip!

This hotel blows the rest of hotels in Avila Beach away! I would NOT recomend with familys with kids and babies. The service is amazing and the breakfast fresh croissants and coffee or OJ is 👌! Lunch is chips and salsa with beer 🍺 and dinner is charcuterie with wine. Beach is 1 minute away foot along with shops and restaurants.

Waking up to the fantastic smell of their super butter croissants baking is a great way to start the day. But it doesn't stop there. They offer guests an afternoon snack of chips and cheese, Late afternoon wine and hors d' oeuvres, and an evening dessert of pie and ice cream. The La Fonda has to be one of the greatest small hotels anywhere along the California coast.

This is an outstanding hotel which I highly recommend. The staff is excellent provide excellent customer service. They are warm, welcoming and very helpful. They offer you lovely small breakfast, salsa & chips, Happy Hour and delicious pie in the evening. The rooms are large with a whirlpool tub. It’s the perfect romantic getaway destination!

Such a lovely and charming stay! This was a beautiful hotel with friendly staff that go out of their way to provide comfort. The room was large, homey and comfortable with a small balcony. They also had welcome cookies and treats, complimentary morning croissants and tea/coffee, afternoon salsa and chips, a wine and appetizers hour, and finally pie at the end of the night! It was all delicious. Would recommend this hotel every time and can't wait to go back again. Parking was also free and convenient (overnight street parking and an underground parking garage).

Underground garage for average to small vehicles. It’s very quiet and peaceful. I loved the old world charm. Definitely will return!

The staff was top notch when it came to excellent customer service. The room and kitchen were extremely clean. I enjoyed the kitchen table and wished we would have brought our cards or dominoes. The portable AC worked better than expected and we stayed cool. They offered plenty of free snacks as a warm welcoming. We had a nice stay for our first time in Avila beach.
The staff was top notch when it came to excellent customer service. The room and kitchen were extremely clean. I enjoyed the kitchen table and wished we would have brought our cards or dominoes. The portable AC worked better than expected and we stayed cool. They offered plenty of free snacks as a warm welcoming. We had a nice stay for our first time in Avila beach.
