Big Bear Frontier

We enjoyed a 3 day family getaway and returned home today. There were many updates to the property and it was quiet around us. The lake was very close, we used the gas bar b q and firepit and picnic table with pretty view of the lake. Ty we will return

Absolutely would have given 5 stars but our cabin was near a busy road. Loved the private beach for bird watching, relaxing and yoga on the dock. The pool was heated and absolutely perfect.

We booked this place because if the jacuzzi and pool, as we ran a 7 mile train run and knew our muscles would be sore afterwards. Jacuzzi was not working and the pool was gross with bugs. We asked the front desk if there were any jacuzzi rooms we could upgrade to, but she said they weee booked. However, the parking lot was almost bare, so not so sure that was a truthful statement. No safes in the room either.

We did a single night stay in the Lodge at the Big Bear Frontier, and it was wonderful! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. They even had fireplaces in the room! Loved the hot tub and heated pool. We will 100% be back!

Cute and right by the lake! Rooms were very clean and staff cleaned daily. Games and towels available in the check in center. The pool was warm and clean.

The newly renovated room was nice. Very modern looking and clean. Lots of bugs get in the room but not suprised since we are right next to the lake. No private beach as advertised, it was closed for construction and looked dirty. The private beach was why i booked. The rooms are next door to the Water District so not a pleasant view. Location is convenient, and close to boating, and restaurants, all within walking distance. Pool was nice, but small, wish they had lounge chairs. Overall for first timers and couples a decent place to stay.

Clean cabin, but property under construction and we did not have acces to pool or basketball court which bummed out my 3 children. They are also short staffed and they would close the office during the mid morning.

Super convenient location just outside the Village. Fabulous clean hot tub and pool. Great cabin ambience and perfect for 2 couples or small family. The only thing missing was salt and pepper.

We stayed in the hotel part of the location. (They have cabins also). The hotel secrion is right next to the lake. There is a dock to walk out on and take your paddle board out from. 2 blocks from the Village. Very nice hotel would stay there again.

The staff was great from check in and throughout our stay. The amenities, pool, ping pong, corn hole, barbecue, and fire pit. Number one is pet friendly truelly pet friendly

Spotless

The property was nice and quiet. We stayed in one of their rooms not a cabin… if you’re a light sleeper don’t stay there the walls were very thin & you can hear your neighbors. It didn’t bother us. The room was surface cleaned, but the floors needed a good mop. It was basically a cleaner extension of outside. My daughters feet was really dirty after walking bare foot in the room. I would still recommend.

Very clean, nicely updated

I love the new renovations! The room was very clean and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Check in and check out were quick and easy. My cabin was right near the lake which added a beautiful view on walks around the property.

Union entering our room we found the last guests towels behind the door in the bathroom and surrounding the room along the ceiling and in the curtains were large spiderwebs full of gnats. I spent the first 15 minutes cleaning the room and getting the bugs out of the curtains. The room was otherwise clean. I imagine someone just forgot to look behind the door when cleaning and is focused so didn’t look up when turning the room around. Realizing we are in the country there will be a few bugs, but this was obviously a multiple day over site. The front desk staff were lovely. The private beach is more dirt than sand as an FYI and it is in a marina cove. The area is quiet at night which was fantastic. You can tell there was a lot of care put into the remodel and it looks great. Just some housekeeping issues that don’t seem pervasive. I’m sure it was a one off.

We had a great stay at Big Bear Frontier. The room was very clean and comfortable, parking was easy, and we were only steps away from the lake.

This property was in a very convenient location. The lake was beautiful and it was very quiet. I stayed in the hotel instead of the cabin. The hotel was updated and nice I liked the room. There was a few things that I didn't like that i overlooked like the remotes not working possibly due to dead batteries. The door into the room was really difficult to open. The toilet flushed only sometimes. The main problem was the cleanliness of the room there was hair EVERYWHERE especially the beds. I called about it and was told that i could come and get linen. I was tired from a long drive but had to remake the beds and the hair was under the sheets, on the pillow cases it was disgusting. I went to the store and purchased Clorox wipes and just wiped everything down just to have a peace of mind regarding cleanliness. I spoke to the night staff as-well as the morning staff and they both brushed it off and showed zero concern. I think that if the room was cleaned properly it would have made a world of difference.

Stay was okay. We were disappointed that pool & jacuzzi were closed entire weekend we were there btw that was the only reason I booked this place. Property and cabins are decent and recently got an update. My granddaughter crawled on the floor for a bit and I couldn’t believe how dirty the carpets were. Her onesie was black from the dirty carpet after a few minutes of crawling around. Not baby friendly but will go back with my adult and teen kids/friends.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Locate just a short distance from the lake.

NOTE: If you are looking for a cabin, this is not it. I booked this place thinking it was an actual cabin-like space. This is more like a remodeled unit. Aside from that, it's a nice place to stay. Everything is new, modern, and clean. We stayed in Unit 116. The front desk hosts were so welcoming and friendly. They made us feel at home. Thank you, ladies! The unit has a kitchenette area which we used to cook breakfast in the mornings. They supplied us with a k-cup coffeemaker, paper towels, dish sponge, and dish soap. There is a fireplace (but we didn't end up using it). I will say the sitting chairs are a bit stiff and really itchy. The bed mattress is unfortunately terrible. They provide no support. We had two nights of really bad sleep. Overall though, you can't beat the price on this stay. It was peaceful, quiet, and it's close to The Village and other main areas. We'd stay here again.

Rooms are new, modern and very nice.

The rooms have been recently renovated. They are very nice! I love the electric fireplace/heater in the room along with the new heat/AC system. There’s a view of the lake from all of the rooms.

Had a downstairs room. Whoever was in upstairs room kept us awake most of the night.

Overall the place is nice. Our room was sort of hot and the AC couldn’t keep up in the day time. Luckily we were out all day. But at night it took some adjusting several times to get it right. Ac couldn’t keep temp at what it was set to. Bed was sort of hard and lumpy. Everything else was great.

Newly renovated. The room was clean and beautiful. So spacious! The woman at the lobby who checked us in was wonderful and really felt welcoming. Great way to start a great stay. Plenty of parking, felt safe the whole time. My only complaint was the wifi was spotty but I would definitely stay again! Highly recommend!

This hotel is super convenient to Big Bear Village, and is right on the lake. But please note that the first picture that Expedia has for this hotel must be old or something they are planning to do because there is no patio right by the lake. None of that is there. There are a couple of tables and chairs on dirt. They have mostly little cottages and then one building that has around 20 rooms in it. I got a room in the bigger building which is closest to the lake. The room had already been updated and looked very nice and clean, but throughout my stay I noticed issues. First, there were cobwebs hanging from the bathroom ceiling. Then I found the bed uncomfortable. The edge basically collapses when you sit on it, so if you sleep near the edge you'll feel like you're rolling off. I tried moving to the other bed, but it had a very loud squeak if you moved at all and the edge of that one collapsed as well. Then, and most disturbingly, the bathtub creaked and groaned like it was going to crash through the floor (I was on the 2nd floor). Bathtubs shouldn't creak. There should be enough support under them that they are silent. The floor in the bathroom also creaked and it's very new so I'm just thinking their contractors suck. All in all, it's was fine, the price was right and they only charge $25/night for the pet fee, but I'm not going to be rushing to stay there again.

Book it! Their renovations of the hotel rooms are superb. Spacious, clean, firm beds, 55" tvs, refrigerator, little coffee machine, bathroom (shower/tub) with (closet) super spacious. Highly recommend. The staff were very inviting and hospitable. The hotel sits next to a little portion of the lake with a boat dock. There's a small seating area, a little "beachy" arra but most people were fishing. Only con is the walls are thin. We heard walking around above us and doors shutting throughout the night. If youre a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

Gorgeous view of the lake right outside our door! This stay was mostly great. You can hear the people next door as if they were in your room, and you can really hear every footstep and movement from the people staying above you. If you’re a light sleeper, you’ll have a difficult time with this - it was a bit much for us and we are heavier sleepers. I assume this is why the staff leave earplugs in the room when you check in. Besides that though, everything else was perfect :) beautiful views, beautiful property, really great service

The lodge room was very clean and comfortable with air conditioning, however the walls are paper thin. The people around us had dogs which we could hear barking clearly (and loudly) through the walls, and we could hear entire conversations from the next room over. Definitely needs some sound proofing, or bring earplugs. The staff was really kind though and the property is in a great area, within walking distance to the main shops.

5 Stars – Great Dog-Friendly Stay at Big Bear Frontier! I had such a great stay at Big Bear Frontier! One of the biggest highlights for me was how dog-friendly the property was. From the moment we arrived, everything felt convenient and well thought out for pet owners. The cabin’s location was perfect — close to everything, including the marina — and the interior exceeded expectations. The hardwood floors were a nice touch, and everything inside felt new and clean. The kitchen was actually better than I anticipated, fully stocked and easy to use. If I had to mention a few areas for improvement, I’d suggest adding a dog wash area — it would be such a helpful perk, especially after outdoor adventures. Also, the showerhead in our unit had very low pressure, which made showers a bit underwhelming. Another minor issue was the doggie trash area near the barbecue and play zone — it was overflowing and had an unpleasant smell, so regular maintenance there would be appreciated. Despite those small things, the overall experience was excellent. The staff were all amazing, friendly, and welcoming. I did find it a bit tricky walking into town since sidewalks were pretty much nonexistent and cars can zoom by — something to be mindful of if you’re walking your dog. But the convenience of the location, especially how close it was to the marina, really made up for it. I would absolutely come back and stay here again. A solid, relaxing getaway in a beautiful and dog-friendly environment!

They overcharged me. At checkout, their printer was conveniently broken and I didn’t notice the charge until today (6/30). No communication as to why and my husband and I have never done any damage to a hotel room ever so I have no idea what it’s for. I called and was repeatedly put on hold so I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. I would avoid this motel. When I made the initial booking I was told by Expedia that I could pay the full amount for $30 extra upon arrival. Instead, after booking I’m told I still have to pay a deposit and you still get $30 more. That is dishonest and you shouldn’t offer pay in full at hotel if you truly don’t offer it.

We were greeted by a kind gentleman upon arrival. Our room was very clean and well appointed with a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. The electric fireplace was a nice touch! Our beds were comfy. The location is central to all Big Bear has to offer. Overall our stay was excellent. We can hardly wait to visit again.

Reserved through Expedia. Got to hotel and desk lady said the reservation would take 45 min or so to come through so we should go eat dinner. Came back an hour later and she said, sorry I don’t have any clean rooms. Said a guy wanted a different room and switched and in the meantime a lady came in and took the last room. The desk lady knew we were coming back and had a reservation. Why wouldn’t she make sure to save the last room knowing Expedia was sending it over??

When me and my family arrived we checked in with the front desk to receive our room keys for the night. Once we went to our room, we realized that the room key did not work. We went back to reception to request a new key in hopes that the replacement would open our room, we then tried the replacement key in hopes that that would open our room, but it indeed did not. It was about 8 PM and me and my family were in the cold, trying to get this situation sorted out. Fortunate for us reception was very nice in regards to the situation as she continued to try and give us replacement keys to try at our room. Last time that we went to our room, we ended up knocking on the door and a person was already vacating the room with his significant other. He was confused as to why we were knocking on his door and mentioned that he had been staying in the room since Thursday and we arrived on Saturday. We then went back to reception and told them about the situation and they ended up giving us an emergency room to stay in for the night. I just feel like they need a better system in regards to checking in their guests, but I’m glad that the situation was diffused and me and my family were able to be warm for the night.

staff was super slow and not efficient

Service wasn’t that great. I called and asked for more towels waited 4 hours and nothing. Had to call again to ask about the towels. Our thermostat wasn’t working so it got very hot in the day and very cold at night. I called the front desk to let them know & was told maintenance would come look at it. They never showed up. I asked to borrow a mop because my son likes to crawl all over & his hands and feet were black, so the floor was not clean & I was not able to borrow a mop for some reason.

This is a perfect place to stay in Big Bear! It’s right next to the lake and walking distance from The Village. Our room was super clean and nice looking. I also loved the way it was decorated. The guy at the front desk was really nice. I would definitely stay here again when I come back!

Beautiful property with friendly and helpful staff with many restaurants and activities within walking distance. Will likely book again next time we stay in Big Bear.

Nice place, very clean, large room and very comfortable. Located in a central area close to shopping and dining.

The towels had some stains on them, wasn’t sure if they were just stained or dirty. We had a couple of spiders in the room, but given the location, it’s probably unavoidable. You can’t beat the location though, right at the lake and down the street from Big Bear Village. Overall, decent place.
