Fogcatcher Inn

Very disappointed with our stay at Fog Catcher, staff was not very welcoming or friendly I’m talking about the front desk staff. Main pool was closed that was disappointing, the mini blinds need be replaced they are very old and horrible to use ours in room 904 are pretty much broken. Ice machine was to small and the area were the ice machine located was very dirty spider webs everywhere. Couldn’t even get a cup of coffee in the morning iether there was none made or there was not enough coffee made, we have stayed at other locations on the same street and they were by far better, we definitely will not be back to the Fog Catcher needs improvement that’s for sure.

We spent one night in Cambria on our leisurely trip up the coast from San Diego. We have never stayed in Cambria before, and were intrigued by the thought of staying in one of the various beach-side inns along the ocean. The Fogcatcher inn had a nice, clean, well-appointed suite for the 3 of us to stay. The decor was lovely and beach-inspired, with everything we needed to enjoy a restful stay. No need for the inroom coffee maker, since they serve fresh brewed coffee in the lobby every morning. After checking in, my husband and I crossed the street to follow the wooden walkway along the cliff above the ocean. The views were stunning, and there were stairs to take us down to the beach for a view of the tidepools. We opted for a partial ocean view king suite for this trip, but I would happily go for a full ocean view suite (upstairs from ours, I suspect) if we ever pass this way again. The only caveat is that in that location (beachside inns are above the ocean, but below a small hill) there is no cell phone service. Emergency calls only. No doubt the room phone would be able to handle any calls you might want to make.

I cannot say enough about this location, the staff, and the room. First and foremost, the staff went beyond the call of duty with letting us check in ahead of schedule time. Then when we needed some emergency amenities, without hesitation, we got more than we asked for and are grateful for it. The room was an ocean view and even if it says partial view, take it. Well worth it. Plus this was an incredibly affordable hotel just across the street from the ocean. And short walking distances from mom and pop restaurants. Depending on the forecast, you can get out of bed and be on the beach in less than a 5 minute walk. Will return and highly recommend.

The room was cozy and beds comfortable. The pool was broken and hot tub was not working properly. The location is great, and the fire pit was nice.
