Beautiful boutique hotel right in the middle of Carmel, you can walk to restaurants and boutique. The room was well appointed - very comfortable bed and pillows, nice shower and we had everything we need. There is also a bar on property.

no parking - weird staff - poor tv - good wine - small breakfast but tasty - hotel is extremely overrated - just because a room has a Nespresso machine does not make it a good room - room was too small compared to its huge 4-post bed canopy, much like Al Bundy's large clients who insisted on wearing small-sized shoes (reference to Married With Children show). Just because you put it there does not mean it fits, and therefore it looks obnoxious. Not worth the stay.

My wife and I stayed for the weekend and brought our dog. It is pet friendly with a $250 fee per pet and a 20 lb limit. The property is beautiful and the service is excellent. They had bowls and a dog bed in our room for our dog which was a nice touch. The complementary breakfast is excellent as well. Overall, a fantastic place to stay!

It’s a fairly nice property but we would stay elsewhere next time. Small rooms and steep stairs are quaint but hard on 70 year olds. Our key was tricky and the valet parking is off property. The included breakfast was lovely! We were surprised to have an additional $35 per day added for gratuity and still expected to tip.

The staff was very nice. And we enjoyed the included breakfast. But the facility is so limited, and the price so high, that I would never come back nor recommend. Small room. Noise from the street (including a 6am delivery truck), plus the restaurant and courtyard -- since there's no A/C you need to keep windows open. Valets just park your car in the neighborhood; sometimes they fetched it, another time we were handed keys and given directions. Unbelievably, I tried to watch something on HBO, and it wasn't available! Roadside motels give you HBO, but not the L'Auberge Carmel! Way too expensive for what you get.

They think of everything. You check in and they take your bags, park your car and that’s all you have to think about until you fill in your breakfast order that night. Lovely courtyard dining and a 2 Michelin star restaurant on site. It was a lovely break we sorely needed.

The hotel is located at the heart of Camel-by-the-Sea where you can enjoy walks around the town and access to various restaurants and shops. All the staff at the hotel are nice and courteous. The room was nice, cozy, and warm at night as well. It was great that they were able to park my car at a gratuity/fee which is expected in the busy town. All good.

We were greeted so warmly and feel so pampered here! Amazing staff and beautiful, clean room. Lots of amenities like robes, slippers, turn down service with freshly made cookies, clothes steamer, and very comfy bed!

Lovely location and sweet courtyard. Room was clean and comfortable though there was a leaking tub faucet. I was extremely disappointed with the level of noise that woke me up on vacation at 7:30am (or so)....lawn mowing or blowing, garbage pickup, etc. Is there no town noise ordinance near a luxury hotel?

This hotel is just lovely. Unfortunately, the walls, at least in the 2 story bungalow we were in, seemed very thin, and the people upstairs walking around, walking up the stairs (not even loudly, but you could hear every step echoing into our room, and listening to their TV kept us up until 1 am, and then we couldn't sleep until 3. I'm not usually going to complain about sound issues, but for a hotel of this caliber, it's not acceptable that I could literally hear what the TV actors were saying. For hours. So although the hotel itself is a dream, sleeping there, for us, was a nightmare, and we can't recommend it to others based on our experience.

One of the nicest Inns we’ve stayed at. Our room was spacious with a king size bed, two comfortable chairs, a huge bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. The extra amenities were wonderful including a Nespresso coffee pot, turndown service and homemade snacks. The included breakfast was delicious.

The staff are excellent. The location of the hotel is perfect. The restaurant at the hotel (one Michelin Star) is truly outstanding. Food, Service and Atmosphere. However, we were in Room 9. To be avoided at all costs. The room itself was beautiful. But it sits above the restaurant…and sits below another room….and sits on the front of the hotel. Quiet it is not.

From the little gold key, to the complimentary valet parking, to the nespresso machine and sparkling water in the room, to the heated bathroom floor tiles, to the fluffy cloud bed, to the little windows that open letting the sea scented air inside, to the generous toiletries that left my hair soft AND clean feeling, to the room service and the little blue phone to call for anything you need, to the perfectly portioned daily breakfast so you leave neither famished or uncomfortably stuffed including a wellness shot and unique options such as chia seed pudding and mushroom toast (*which may not sound appealing, but trust me, try it.) To the gorgeous setting right in the thick of things. It was everything I hoped for and more.... the service and staff was five star.*****

We found the room noisy as the building is old and easy to hear the music from the restaurant and people talking near the room. Otherwise a pleasant stay and very helpful service providers.

While having no power is out of anyone’s control, failing to notify me that the property had been out of power for several days until the day of check in, after I had already traveled to Carmel, is unacceptable. I spent another three hours driving home in the pouring rain and over an hour on the phone with hotels.com to get a refund. This could have been avoided with better communication.

While having no power is out of anyone’s control, failing to notify me that the property had been out of power for several days until the day of check in, after I had already traveled to Carmel, is unacceptable. The staff was incredibly service oriented. We were able to check in early with no problem. The concierge drove us to dinner and picked the group up afterwards; very helpful as it was a rainy night. Our room was in the courtyard and was perfect - size, layout, quiet. The bathroom was nicely equipped.

They think of everything. You check in and they take your bags, park your car and that’s all you have to think about until you fill in your breakfast order that night. Lovely courtyard dining and a 2 Michelin star restaurant on site. It was a lovely break we sorely needed.

Loved our quick stay. While the property itself is beautiful and well taken care of, the staff were incredibly kind making that our reason to return. From checking in, getting our luggage to our room, housekeeping, front desk staff… every single person was kind, friendly, and helpful. Thanks again!

The hotel was wonderful. Service was exceptional, the breakfast in the courtyard was really special. The rooms were very comfortable with robes, slippers and nespresso machine. The location is in the heart of carmel and short distance to the beach. It was ideal being there We stayed up in October and it was in the mid 60s to 70 so at night we left our windows open however there is no air conditioning so we would not have enjoyed our stay in the mid summer. Be cautious of that.

Beautiful boutique hotel right in the middle of Carmel, you can walk to restaurants and boutique. The room was well appointed - very comfortable bed and pillows, nice shower and we had everything we need. There is also a bar on property.

We were greeted so warmly and feel so pampered here! Amazing staff and beautiful, clean room. Lots of amenities like robes, slippers, turn down service with freshly made cookies, clothes steamer, and very comfy bed!

The Auberge is located right in the center of Carmel, and our room was large and clean, though a rug in the middle of the large central area would have made it feel more homey. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. For a place with a Michelin star, breakfast was merely OK. You have to pay extra if you want bacon or anything beyond 2 eggs and toast. The first day, the kitchen only sent 1 order of eggs for the two of us, but they were quick to respond to our request for more. We were disappointed that staying at the hotel did not mean we could get a reservation for dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant. The hotel has essentially zero amenities on site. No lounge to speak of (there was a tiny little bar), no public spaces except the open atrium in the center. Although the room was big, clean and comfy, I doubt we'll stay at Auberge again. La Playa has much better public spaces, a great bar, views over the sea, etc.

Very quaint hotel with high end linens/pillows. Attentive, understated service which we enjoyed. Breakfast outside in courtyard with a fountain and flowers. Close walk to the beach. Restaurant was unfortunately closed because it was Monday. We will return and make a dinner reservation!

O quarto era extremamente barulhento e tinha um compressor do lado de fora que ficava ligando e desligando ininterruptamente. Não dormi na primeira noite e na segunda me deram ears plug. No mínimo um absurdo um hotel q cobra 400 dólares a diária oferecer um quarto assim. No Mais, o banheiro precisa de reparos. A água do chuveiro é pouca e o chão que deveria ser aquecido não funciona. Café da manhã bem fraco tb. A limpeza estava perfeita e o local do hotel muito bem. De qq forma está bem longe de ser um relais chateau e muito menos um hotel 5 estrelas.

We recently stayed at L’Auberge Carmel and had a mixed experience. The standout was, without question, the service. Every single staff member we encountered was exceptional. From check-in to valet to breakfast service, everyone was warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay enjoyable. The hospitality is truly best-in-class and deserves five stars. The hotel itself is charming and full of character, as it’s a beautifully preserved building from the 1920s. The beds were very comfortable, and the location is excellent. That said, we were surprised by the accommodations given the hotel’s luxury reputation and price point. The rooms are quite small and don’t feel particularly luxurious. There is no air conditioning, so we were advised to sleep with the windows open. Unfortunately, that wasn’t a great solution because there were mosquitoes (the windows had no screens), and with neighboring guests also keeping their windows open, noise carried easily. We happened to be next to a family with very loud children, and it felt like they were in our room. On our first morning, we were also awakened at 7:45 a.m. by jackhammering and construction noise, which wasn’t the relaxing start we’d hoped for. Overall, the incredible staff is the reason I’m giving this review a positive rating. They were outstanding. However, if you’re choosing L’Auberge Carmel expecting a modern luxury hotel experience, you may want to adjust your expectations.

This quaint hotel had all the amenities that I needed, even had a steamer in addition to an iron. Loved the turn down service with warm fresh cookies and departing gift of handmade granola. Highlights were the Nespresso machine and their breakfast menu. I will go back to Carmel so I can stay here again.
