Cozy Inn

Upon arrival, we were told that they only accept card for deposit. If we were to pay cash the deposit would go from $50 and be $200 cash deposit. Early check in fee was $35. They do not price match the online price which is cheaper. There is no rollover extension for staying another night, otherwise they charge you more and a fee, plus early check in fee again? Pool is only 4feet deep and was not available to use. It was very, very small!! You can’t even swim a lap. Rooms are not properly cleaned, found a buzz ball empty in the bathroom. There were NO towels or toilet paper in our room, we had to go ask for more. Only one light worked in the area by the bathroom. Bathroom door did not close all the way unless you use strong force and it gets stuck. Water from shower kept dripping all night long even when the knobs were tightened. AC had a bad clicking noise. Pillows were bad, felt like you had no support on your neck and just lay flat. Sheets were dirty and crumbs were underneath, shows that they didn’t properly clean it beforehand. Downstairs someone was playing loud music even with windows closed all night until the early morning 6am. Even though they have a $500 charge noise policy if you’re loud between their “quiet hours” which is 10pm-8am. Would not recommend. Will not stay again.

This property was dirty, broken lights, broken plug ins, staff was rude, they call to make sure you are getting out of the room by 11 or they are going to charge you, taped up closet door, floors were dirty, homeless people hanging out around the place. Pool was closed. So many things wrong with this place. Just because it's priced low doesn't mean that it has to be this cheap! Jpthat it has to be that bad!

You couldn't swim in the pool cuz it was dirty and locked up. The first room that they put me in stunk really bad I think because there was a dog living next door. Plus the stains on the floor and the top cover of the bed. The second room that they put me in was a whole lot nicer just the TV didn't work in the remote.

Barebones, not cozy at all. Clean, but not much there. Staff could not provide two additional pillows. Coffee package only for one. Huge room, mostly bare. The closet was locked and unusable. One tiny piece of soap in the bathroom. No ice in room, and the hotel icemaker did not work. Disappointing.

Very good prices on rooms even on busy holidays. Small complex so not a lot of traffic. Good parking

A/C didn’t work, told front desk and he just shrugged. Ice Machine didn’t work, gas station sold a bucket of ice for $.50. No wash clothes. Night stand was very dirty, again, front desk didn’t seem to care.

Well, if the saying “you get what you pay for“ was ever true then it is true in this case. This was an affordable hotel, but there definitely were some issues. Inside the microwave was old and dried up melted cheese, and no glass rotation plate. The coffee maker had parts missing And I had to drop the coffee bag into my cup and fill it with hot water. The next day my coffee machine was replaced. The ceiling was deteriorating in the bathroom and the springs in the bed squeaked. It was definitely not a Tempurpedic mattress, lol! The soap in the shower was tiny, and did not lather very well. I think they got it from the bargain aisle in the dollar store for hotels. The blow dryer was not very strong either. There was also an actual live duck living in their swimming pool. I’m assuming it was pooping in the swimming pool also. The swimming pool was not accessible to the public, I guess because of the duck? The staff was nice and friendly. But I was told by folks that lived around there that the hotel was not the safest one. But for me, it worked out fine.

This was by far the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. The first room (#16) we got had holes in the wall, ceiling had holes and was stufffed with tissue paper the ceiling was severely stained and damaged. The shower had dirty water from the previous person that was in there. I asked to go to another room (#8) because we did feel comfortable in it. Their pool also doesn’t work. But after the rooms looking like this and smelling gross I wouldn’t dare step foot in their pool. The reason we chose 8 was because we could see through the windows and it looked like 8 was in better condition. The front desk (Steve) said this is the last he will be accommodating and I said ok. He called the room and asked if it was ok and I said it was but this was 5-10 minutes after being in it. We checked out the bed and the bed was just springs. No cushion and the smell was DISGUSTING. We started a refund process with Expedia and it is still pending as the property manager needs to approve the refund. Please don’t waste your money. Spend an extra $50 and go to the Marriott in Irvine instead. Our stay at the Marriott was beyond amazing.

Disgusting on all levels. Room had black mold all over the walls and in bathroom. Peeling paint, bloody fingerprint on door-jam, stains on carpet. The bathroom sink drain had black bugs flying out and a sewer smell from it, rust on drains. The fire alarm was missing, the towels were stained.Dresser was messed up.Dont know what was going on with the closet..full of junk. If there would have been availabllity elsewhere we could have left. Health department needs to be called on this place!

It was a terrible stay. The whole room smells like cigarette. The bathroom was horrible. The tub was dirty floor and the toilet had crap all over the seat., there was holes cracks everywhere on the walls, the room floor had a bunch of hair everywhere. The floor was dirty. It was just terrible.

The pictures on here are nit what the rooms actually look like. Plus everything was dirty and there was black mold right above the bed i was sleeping in. I feel like i got catfished

As soon as we pulled into the parking lot i knew something was wrong. Multiple broke down vehicles with all 4 tires flat. When we opened the door the room stunk and the carpets were the dirtiest ive ever seen in a hotel. They fix the holes in the walls with tape. The bathroom was so dirty, pieces of the ceiling were falling into the tub while showering. There were no towels in the bathroom. It was terrible!! I have pics if needed

This place was DISGUSTING! The toilet seat was broken, the duvet had stains all over it, the toilet paper had green stains on it, the bathroom floor was sticky, the refrigerator was leaking water AND had hair inside it of it! When we spoke to the hotel employee they offended us another room. Absolutely not! Why would we want to stay here? Plus Expedia tried NUMEROUS times to contact management for a refund to no avail. They kept dodging the call and emails. So, no I would NEVER recommend this dump! If I could give it negative 100 stars I would!! Do not stay here! Plus we have pictures and video to prove it!

Do not stay here. This is probably one of the most disgusting hotels I've ever been to. They make you sign a paper saying that you will not stain their towels or sheets yet they provide you with ripped and stained towels and sheets. There are holes in the walls, the headboard is chipped, the furniture is chipped, and there are random patches of different color paints. The entry door is disgusting as well as the bathroom door. I asked for a new blanket because the one they provided was ripped in many places as well as stained, and they gave me a new one that had a shoe footprint on it. The carpets were stained, and the shower would not stop leaking no matter how much I tightened the faucet. As I was walking out to let them know that I am checking out after two hours and asking for a refund, a police officer was in the parking lot and asked me if I heard anyone arguing. I said no, but I am checking out and he said it was a good idea that I leave. I asked if this was an unsafe hotel and he said they often get calls there. I wish I would have checked Yelp for reviews beforehand. Lastly, they don't provide washcloths or even a phone in the room. This place needs to be shut down.

This place is unsafe and filthy. Sheets were stained and photos of white sheets in the website are not what you find when you arrive at this place. Very likely could be infested with bed bugs and more. Lights in bathroom were flickering. This is a zero star motel. Stay there at your own risk.

One positive - the housekeeper was extremely nice. Otherwise, this is the grossest hotel I have ever stayed at. We rejected our first room due to very strong mold and were given an "upgrade". The second room wasn\'t AS moldy, but still was. The bathroom smelled like it had a dead body in it. There was hair in the microwave and in the refrigerator. The power outlets would not hold cords, we had to hold the plug in the outlet to use the microwave or it would lose power. The curtains had holes and the tracks were broken. We opened the window for air and the screen was also broken. Constant dripping hot water in the bathroom, no working fan or heat lamp meant that the room was humid and the windows fogged up. Holes in the wall by the toilet covered in plastic in the room where we had to go take a shower in the last two days - because the hot water went out all together in our half of the hotel. We ended up buying disinfectant to spray everywhere a few times a day. Bedding was thin, pillows looked 20 years old. Carpet is ancient and clearly had flooded at some point. Owner would not give us a discount even after the hot water was out for the last two days. DO NOT waste your money and expose yourself to mold. Don\'t stay here.

Beds are super noisy and the fridge leaks.

staff was pretty good, considering. initially they put me into a room where the smoke detector had been stolen, the rug and door were filthy, and the bathroom counter was painted brown and half peeled and scratched off they put me into a second room after complaints, to their credit. this was better. tub would not stop running in new room, half the lights did not work. hoarder's mini van in custom parking with 3 flat tires.. wifi did not work in the back building, and was not fixed by staff though asked. bordered by trailer park and people walking around on meth or something.

Out of two rooms, the first at check in didn't have a working phone and the TV wasn't working. I was switched to another room. TV didn't initially work, nor the remote. A hotel maintenance man kind of got the TV going, but the remote still didn't work. Walls had holes in them and were in need of repairs and a good coat of paint was greatly needed. I slept well though and the shower head was strong and quite nice after all of the other things that went wrong.

Rooms are upgraded

not good this time. Power outlets on the lamp did not work - neither of them. the Tv had been unplugged and took me a while to figure out that that was the problem. Then for an encore the water in the shower stopped completely as i was lathered up. I called the front desk - nothing. Then i went down there myself. Room overall was a great size. Wish there would have been a tub opprobrium but that’s a personal preference. AC unit interrupted sleep throughout the night as well as the person next door who was silent all day/evening until about 10pm. 10pm is quiet time so could not find anyone at the front desk and there were no phones in the room.

Rooms with cigarette smell (even though it is prohibited). Rooms without maintenance, old mattresses.

TV didn't work. Asked employee to come to room and fix it, but he was very impatient and slammed our door when he left. We never got the TV working.

I asked for a room upstairs, and I was told they had one king size bed room upstairs with no tv, or a kind size bed room downstairs with a tv. We like to watch tv before bed, so we took the downstairs room. Huge mistake, the people above us and all around us(we were put right next to the front desk area) were extremely loud. Paper thin walls. Luckily we only stayed here to sleep for one night, so it’s a alright deal for that, less than $100, but if your looking at hanging around your hotel room and getting peace and quiet, you won’t find that here.

Upon check in, the lobby was locked so we rang the doorbell to get someone’s attention. After waiting for a few minutes, a man walks in from the back with his shirt completely unbuttoned exposing his bare belly to us. He then stares at us and says nothing and starts to button up his shirt while we are staring at him through the window. We wait about 2 minutes for him to button his stained shirt half way up and he comes to the door and lets us in. He checks us in and hardly says a word to us the whole time and writes down my credit card information on a piece of paper for the deposit. By this point, my girlfriend is very uncomfortable with what we have experienced. We take a key reluctantly and go to out room. Upon entry, we see that the bed is stained and the room smells horrible. The dresser looks like it has been beaten in with drawers falling out and there are holes in the walls. The bathroom is dirty and the room is just not livable. We proceeded to leave the room and leave our keys in the lobby as we did not want to interact with the rude man who exposed himself to my girlfriend and I. We felt genuinely unsafe at this hotel. The hotel has been rude to Expedia and hung up on them repeatedly while they have fought for the hotel to issue me a refund. We did not even use the room and they are trying to hold onto the money after describing the situation. No management from the hotel has reached out to me and I doubt if they even have management. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Was told i can check in at 6:30am with a $30 early check in fee. I asked before i bought the room to confirm. I arrived the next morning to a $70 fee and a rude clerk. I was turned away with no where to go. They would not refund my money since they gave me mis information. Would not recommend this motel to anyone..BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

Terrible experience. TV didn't work, wi-fi was very poor, one towel on check-in. Went down to the office the next morning and door was locked, employee behind counter looked at me but never moved or communicated. Decided to leave a day early and owner refused to refund my money. Lots of options close by pick one of those.

Definitely the worse in every way. Man in front is mad and doesnt want to answer questions. Rude service . Will not return deposit . Shady all around . Horrible beds , room dirty , smells like mold.

I stayed at this motel about two weeks ago expecting my deposit to be returned, however it has not been returned yet. My partner and I left the room practically in the same condition we walked in to, except for one unmade bed. We walked into a damp carpet and wet floors in the bathroom, and poor ventilation while taking a shower, it felt like a sauna. That is the main complaint, the staff was friendly and efficient when checking us in and out.

The hotel charges $25.00 late check in fee if you check in after 11:30 p.m.

Our stay was definitely not a memorable one. We came here to celebrate my birthday in Newport and the location was nice but thats about it. The customer service from the front was absolutely terrible and rude, we were shocked to be treated so terribly and shocked how rude the guy running the front is both at check in and check out. The room smelled slightly like mold, the tv did not work at all nor did the hair dryer, and the stairs going to the second level were definitely sketchy to say the least. We love newport and stay there often but this place is a never again for us after being treated so poorly.

For 1 it didn’t have that piece in the shower. So they had to change rooms and then the other room no shower curtains and I wanted to take a shower and had to bother them for 5 hours before them giving me one. Then 5 days after I left they didn’t send my refund on the deposit. I have to wait another 3-5 days for it. Never go here if you can avoid it. Walls have holes and it’s just horrible service from there staff

I was forced to pay twice, once through Expedia as seen here and once more to the hotel when I arrived because they said my reservation was not valid. Then, about an hour later, while in the shower, the front desk guy who was nothing short of horrible from the moment I stepped foot on the property, was screaming “YOU FLOODED THE BATHROOM! THE BATHROOM NEXT DOOR IS FLOODED” I jumped out and turned off the water and in just a towel he came into to find in my bathroom…. Absolutely nothing. Not a single piece of evidence to show that there were plumbing issues nextdoor. How could I have prevented this? Nonetheless he told me the cops were on the way and to pack my bags and get out. No refund. No deposit returned to me. I have never been treated with such disrespect and taken for a complete fool for the fraudsters that are The Cozy Inn. I recorded the entire episode the staff had, it’s 4.5 minutes of completely manipulative and done right horrible treatment towards my family and I. I will be reporting this establishment to the better business bureau and any other reported channels that will listen and let the future victims of the cozy inn know what scam they’re getting into. If I can have a day in their ability to rip people off or not, I will. They are the worst I’ve ever experienced, by and large, and I know anyone at Expedia would agree and make sure this place can’t victimize Expedia customers ever again, don’t let it happen 100 more times before you do something about it.

Location to all things in the area

The location was good, easy road, freeway, near Newport Beach and had plenty of amenities close by.

Great little place close the FWY and bar scenes. Beach is also a short trip from here.

I didn’t like on arrival there were homeless men in the front. As we went into the room it looked decent but smelled like a older person. I started cleaning with my wipes the control and AC dirty. Lots of stuff didn’t work and behind bed was filthy.

The area around the property was unsafe, several transients were around walking at later hours. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels/motels and this is also the first time I was asked to pay a $25 late check-in fee. (It was around midnight when I checked in). The room itself was disgusting and borderline unsafe to say in. All the fixtures in the bathroom were dirty and rusty. There was a red mystery stain in the bathroom under the door. The room felt very old. I get the "you get what you pay for" but I've stayed in much cleaner and well kept economy motels. The "pool" was in the center of the parking lot and no bigger than a walk-in closet. To top it off the "owner" or "operator" of the motel attempted to shake me down for more money when I was already at the airport checking out. He claims that we intentionally left water running in our room. I explained to him that we were a family of 4 on a San Diego Zoo trip, why would we do such a thing. I believe this action coupled with the late check in is indicative of an owner out to try and scam and milk every last penny from people staying at this motel. Stay away from this one at all costs!

The property is a very good location close to the beach and malls. A lot of restarants in the area close bye.

Spacious rooms, easy access to the 55 Fwy ramp and all the restaurants on Newport Blvd and Harbor Blvd and quiet because it's set back a little from the road. Always appreciate having a refrigerator and microwave.

This place is horrible. I would not stay there for free. We got to the hotel and the beds had stains and room had a really bad smell. It was so bad that we left and got a hotel somewhere else. The property refused to refund us. When we pulled up the cops were in a different room with a broken window. It was really bad.

The room didn’t have microwave, no coffee maker & no iron board. So the front desk guy said: no I don’t have it. SOMEONE took them. I still don’t understand who did he meant “someone”! Then he said : share the Microwave w his staff. I said “No” whatever you list on the website, you should provide them or switch the room for me. After he’s grumble for a while then he brought me the microwave & the coffee maker. He told us to use his plastic counter to do ironing!! Luckily I didn’t do it. Except for tp in the bathroom, no tissue at all. I asked the janitor on the next day, she said ya ya…. Then she disappeared! Horrible condition of the room, The media chest’s drawer was complete broken, they just left it. The room is strongly smell. I know people normally says you pay for what you get! I went out to check for another hotel. Unfortunately it’s spring break time, closed to beach like this location, it’s hard to get one night renting. Omg I never never return to this hotel!

the room was a lot bigger than expected which was awesome! the bed was comfortable, the place was quiet and felt safe. for a simple stay not too far from the beach and other shops, a great part of Costa Mesa, this is a great choice. fridge and microwave, coffee maker, good shower, blow dryer. it was great for the price. I chose Cozy Inn for the price. I walked for breakfast to Norm’s and drove to Pasta Connection two blocks away for dinner. They were great. You get what you pay for. The person at the desk told me the carpets were just cleaned and may be wet. (They were.) I was upgraded to a king from a queen (Thanks!). But all I needed was a quiet room with a comfy bed and I got that.

Liked: convenient location Disliked: No amenities, not enough pillows, only one coffee packet, one tiny bar of soap, ice maker not working. Staff not helpful. Closet locked. Not cozy. A hotel to avoid.

It was unreasonably chilly for Southern California, even with the heater on. I requested an additional blanket, which they put in the dryer before delivering. The small coffee maker was sufficient to get me moving in the morning. The room was basic, but had a microwave & frig too. Hotel was located near busy street yet I didn’t hear traffic.
