Conveniently located near the John Muir National Historic Site, and right across the street from a number of restaurants, grocery store, and CVS, this was a great stay for us. The room was clean the kids loved the pool and hot tub, and the breakfast was delicious, with eggs, sausage, gravy, danishes, yogurt, cereal, and fruit. 10/10 would stay again.

Conveniently located near the John Muir National Historic Site, and right across the street from a number of restaurants, grocery store, and CVS, this was a great stay for us. The room was clean the kids loved the pool and hot tub, and the breakfast was delicious, with eggs, sausage, gravy, danishes, yogurt, cereal, and fruit. 10/10 would stay again.

Really below average stay. Could feel the springs in the bed. The facilities felt dated and old. The hot tub was the main attraction but it was closed for the season? Super lame.

This property is one of the only one's in Martinez. I arrived late at night with an open mind, but found loiterers in the neighboring parking lot that made me uncomfortable. It looked like some people who lived out of their cars. At the property, my bedspread had a poop stain. The second night someone was cooking in the inside hallway next to my room on the carpet. When I tried to report it, I rang the front desk three times and no one answered. The management team didn't seam concerned the next morning when I tried to report it. My last night there, I needed to leave at 3 am. Someone was sitting on a chair on the second floor when I came in at 10 pm and was still there at 3 am! I think it might have been someone off the streets with a bag next to them. Safety is not their primary concern-that was a problem for me.

We've stayed at John Muir hotel in Martinez before and noticed they have done some nice upgrades to the bathroom. We always feel comfortable there and it suits our needs. Unfortunately the elevator wasn't working and we had to carry our luggage upstairs. Thank goodness it was only one floors. The staff is very friendly and it's a good location, close to a shopping plaza.

We intentionally stayed because they have a hot tub. I have back issues and enjoy hit tubs. But unfortunately it was closed. Not very happy about that. If you are wanting to use pool or hot tub call first to make sure they are functioning. If I did Ibwould have saved a lot of money because I coukd have stayed atva family members home.

While the decor might be due for an updating, the staff keep the hotel very clean. The rooms are re-set to a high standard between guests, with conformity between rooms. IOW - good training means no variation in how the rooms look. It never depends on which staff member cleaned your room.

The person at the front desk was not personable at all. Borderline rude. The room had a slight “unclean” odor. There was a used incense stick wedged in the doorway between the room and the room next door and there were toenail clippings on the carpet by the bed. Totally unacceptable and gross! Obviously they didn’t bother cleaning much.

Kids and people roaming the halls all night long. Cockroach spotted in my room. Gap under connecting door is open!! Breakfast was terrible quality with powdered eggs and juice so diluted I thought it was dirty water. Pastry was still frozen on the serving plate.

The hotel does not have the typical entrance to access the Reception area. There is not an area to park and enter. The two closest spaces are handicapped parking only. Despite both the bathroom and room appearing very clean, there was a small roach inside the rolled up bath mat.

The room was very clean nicely decorated and very comfortable. It was also in a quiet neighborhood, I did not hear any noise at all in the hall very restful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also delicious, thank you!

Bah. Well the doors slam all night and day. There was a huge gap between the door and the floor. There was gum and wax in the carpet. Stains in the wall. I found pills on the floor, thankfully before my dog did. There was rubbish under the bed. The bed felt old. The remote for the TV was dirty. The towels and bedding were clean. The house staff were kind. I wish it had been cleaner. There were a lot of people smoking and drinking in the parking area. There were people smoking by the pool. They claim to have a no smoking on premises. The parking areas had looked like there was a party.

The property is directly off the highway, situated on a corner with a stoplight. If you are sound sensitive like I am there is no getting away from traffic sound. And while the staff was fantastic trying to find me adquiere room the hotel was old enough that even the floors squeaked horribly with the folks above me tromping over my head. Ultimately I left and found a quieter hotel. But if sound doesn’t bother you the hotel was neither good nor bad.

The location is convenient, being right next to the highway. There is a shopping center across the street that has a market and eateries. Enjoyed the waffle, eggs, and sausage breakfast provided. The bed mattress was way too soft and did not provide support. The door lock did not work well so it took multiple tries to get in.

Our room was so nice and comfortable. Very happy it has the spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower . The gentleman at the front desk is so courteous and welcoming. I just can not say one negative thing about our stay here. I highly recommend the Best Western John Muir Inn in Martinez Ca.

After we checked in, the TV in the room was not working. I took the remote to the front desk. I made 3 extra trips back to the front desk after maintenance guy couldn't fix. The front desk clerk had an attitude. Finally after realizing that there was an issue, the clerk put us in a room that had been freshly painted and smelled. At this point, we were already there 1hr waiting to get the TV fixed. The smell was horrible. The only good thing is that I always travel with a little fan and helped push the smell out. Clerk needs to be more proactive and a little nicer to customers

The staff is awesome. I stayed at the Motel 6 previously, and it cost more and was filthy. I would reccomend this Best Western as the best hotel in the area to all friends and family members. Michael

The location is convenient, being right next to the highway. There is a shopping center across the street that has a market and eateries. Enjoyed the waffle, eggs, and sausage breakfast provided. The bed mattress was way too soft and did not provide support. The door lock did not work well so it took multiple tries to get in.

This property is one of the only one's in Martinez. I arrived late at night with an open mind, but found loiterers in the neighboring parking lot that made me uncomfortable. It looked like some people who lived out of their cars. At the property, my bedspread had a poop stain. The second night someone was cooking in the inside hallway next to my room on the carpet. When I tried to report it, I rang the front desk three times and no one answered. The management team didn't seam concerned the next morning when I tried to report it. My last night there, I needed to leave at 3 am. Someone was sitting on a chair on the second floor when I came in at 10 pm and was still there at 3 am! I think it might have been someone off the streets with a bag next to them. Safety is not their primary concern-that was a problem for me.

I had a race in Martinez and booked my stay last minute. It was a convenient location to food and the venue. Plenty of parking and was quiet at night to get the deep rest I needed to race the next day. Thankful I booked my stay here.

Clean area, Queen beds are more comfortable then the double beds. No waffles anymore but they did have oatmeal and make your own yogurt along with cheesy eggs and sausage.

Kids and people roaming the halls all night long. Cockroach spotted in my room. Gap under connecting door is open!! Breakfast was terrible quality with powdered eggs and juice so diluted I thought it was dirty water. Pastry was still frozen on the serving plate.

Friendly staff, very helpful. what I did not like was that fact that breakfast was changed. I did not like the breakfast this time. There was more options before. There was Almond milk, yogurts single cups different flavors, there was waffles, there use to be French toast stick, apart from Eggs and Sausage links. Breakfast was horrible.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The full breakfast was excellent, with cheese omelets, potatoes & sausages, also biscuits & gravy and waffles, plus lots of other good stuff. But the room didn't have any hand soap or coat hangers! Plus the room door was very difficult to open-- spring too tight! Also, access was limited to just the center two entry doors, one of which closed at 9:30 or 10:00. Otherwise, it's a very good place in a good location.

Parked my truck and there was a crack pipe sitting on the light pole. Told the front desk and they claimed they would do something immediately about it but when I left it in the am, it was still there. What a joke. Made me feel completely unsafe to stay there and I would recommend finding other accommodations. It’s one thing to have it there, it’s a whole other thing to lie about handling it. How can one trust anything staff says. Next, terrible noise occurred causing me no sleep from 2am on. Asked front desk at 5am to have manager call me and of course that never happened. Suspect front desk never ever passed message along. Understand it’s a budget hotel but both incidents are unacceptable and I hope Corporate reads this and takes appropriate action and requires updated training. The crack pipe was something that should have been handled. Should have called the police instead of relying on staff to handle it correctly. Very disappointed that I never even received a call.

Honestly, I had a wonderful time. I spent some quiet time alone to recalibrate myself. The room was spotless. The staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet was flavorful, and the selection was impressive. Parking was easy. I genuinely look forward to coming back.
