This place is beautiful, charming, and in a great location! Plus, it’s dog-friendly! If you’re a Gilmore Girls fan, you’ll definitely get a Stars Hollow vibe. The drive up to the inn was really cool with lots of tall trees that made you feel like you were in a forest. There is a quaint little main street with two convenience stores and a few restaurants, one of which was fantastic for breakfast! (Separate review for Howard’s Cafe.) We booked the Ivory room, and the rooms are reasonably priced. Our room was on the second floor and small but had some cute little armchairs in front of a fireplace and a wall A/C which was super useful for the warm or humid parts of the day. The view was of trees and the other parts of the property, so it felt private. The bathroom had a standing shower with pumps of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner on the shower wall. The place had old charm was but was clean and cozy. My only thing was that the bed was FIRM, which isn’t great for people with back issues. There also is only one mirror in the bathroom, so you’ll need to bring a smaller one for up-close face things. Otherwise, it was great! The inn is in the perfect location between the coast and wine country, so you can spend a few days and get the best of both worlds! Speaking of wine, the inn has wine tasting from 4pm to 7pm on the main level on a lovely outdoor patio, which we didn’t end up doing this trip, but will do next time. Highly recommended!

They don’t provide slippers like other four stars hotel. It’s more like Airbnb, but overall I like the vibe and the beautiful garden. The breakfast was good, esp. the scramble eggs.

Lovely inn with great service. We were in the Sugar Room, which is ADA compliant and has a door leading directly to the patio. Many places to go locally and some excellent restaurants in the area. We liked that Occidental is lesser known as a tourist destination, so not so crowded.

It was a disappointing stay for us. The hotel looked charming from the outside, within walking distance to the quaint town of Occidental, however our room was in dire need of updating. The wall paint was stained and had chipped paint, the carpets looked worn out and stained as well. The adjuster on one of the blinds was broken so you had to open / close the blinds with the broken end. The wood stove, not fully functional I guess, was covered in dust and sitting on a dusty floor as well. We enjoyed the wine hour, they were generous with the pour. Breakfast was nothing special, just decent enough. We will not be back for sure. This property does not justify the nightly rates.

We so thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Occidental. The staff were warm and welcoming. The wine reception and expanded continental breakfast were really wonderful. The “expanded continental” included amazing bacon!

The check in was easy. They were ready for us when we arrived. They helped us find an excellent restaurant for dinner. The room was warm and comfortable and breakfast was yummy!

Great location to the center of town without being in the town. The staff was so polite and helpful. The room was well appointed, easy access and no noise at night. I did a one night stop over but I could see staying there for a couple of days if needed.👍

Best place in town to stay! Up the hill from all the people and traffic. Our faucet leaked a lot and caused some issues. Bed was a tad worn. However you cannot beat the ladies who run the place! Wonderful people and so helpful. Breakfast was good, and the dining room was charming. We were upgraded to a better room and that was wonderful.

The room and the property was outstanding. One word of caution, the shower has no grab bars and the shower tile floor is VERY slippery. Everything else was very nice.

Lovely inn with great service. We were in the Sugar Room, which is ADA compliant and has a door leading directly to the patio. Many places to go locally and some excellent restaurants in the area. We liked that Occidental is lesser known as a tourist destination, so not so crowded.

The check in was easy. They were ready for us when we arrived. They helped us find an excellent restaurant for dinner. The room was warm and comfortable and breakfast was yummy!

Great location to the center of town without being in the town. The staff was so polite and helpful. The room was well appointed, easy access and no noise at night. I did a one night stop over but I could see staying there for a couple of days if needed.👍

We so thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Occidental. The staff were warm and welcoming. The wine reception and expanded continental breakfast were really wonderful. The “expanded continental” included amazing bacon!

Front check in woman was rude and basically lied about why an early check in was impossible. She stated that the workers are loud and would leave at 3pm, which they did not, the lower courtyard needed to be blown which that did not happen. She stated that she was unaware that I had a dog, it was stated on Expedia. Overall, a very unpleasant greet and welcome. Would not recommend this place primarily due to this woman!

This place is beautiful, charming, and in a great location! Plus, it’s dog-friendly! If you’re a Gilmore Girls fan, you’ll definitely get a Stars Hollow vibe. The drive up to the inn was really cool with lots of tall trees that made you feel like you were in a forest. There is a quaint little main street with two convenience stores and a few restaurants, one of which was fantastic for breakfast! (Separate review for Howard’s Cafe.) We booked the Ivory room, and the rooms are reasonably priced. Our room was on the second floor and small but had some cute little armchairs in front of a fireplace and a wall A/C which was super useful for the warm or humid parts of the day. The view was of trees and the other parts of the property, so it felt private. The bathroom had a standing shower with pumps of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner on the shower wall. The place had old charm was but was clean and cozy. My only thing was that the bed was FIRM, which isn’t great for people with back issues. There also is only one mirror in the bathroom, so you’ll need to bring a smaller one for up-close face things. Otherwise, it was great! The inn is in the perfect location between the coast and wine country, so you can spend a few days and get the best of both worlds! Speaking of wine, the inn has wine tasting from 4pm to 7pm on the main level on a lovely outdoor patio, which we didn’t end up doing this trip, but will do next time. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at the Inn. Perfect location that was walk-able to the shops and restaurants. The huge jetted tub in our room (Kitchen Cupboard- each room has a different name!) was so relaxing and I liked being outside of the main building. The breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning so we didn't have breakfast out at all. Coffee was usually available by 8 but as someone who is up early, that would be my only suggestion to have it out closer to 7.

Friendly & helpful people who know their town & surroundings well helped to make our weekend a memory we will hope to repeat at this very same inn!! I wished we'd had more time to take advantage of all the enriching & artistic activities as well as the wine, but we had to first find a near by Costco to borrow one of their loaner hearing aid chargers. Can you imagine being with someone who could not hear you for 3 days!!! Well, that problem was solved early & we were able to take advantage of all the reasons we chose this area. We relived memories from my childhood among the redwoods & were delighted to find Armstrong Grove to still be in beautiful condition despite the fires of recent years. The Russian River, of course did not disappoint! We will need to come back soon to visit some of the key wineries that I was not interested in when I was younger. And, we did not make it out to Jenner which is still calling to me, as is historic & restored Fort Ross. Cazadero music camp will need to be revisited when the kids are there & performing concerts. Our Innkeeper drove us personally to one of the town's most treasured restaurants where we dined on fine food that was presented so artistically that we could not help but take pictures of it before letting our taste buds join in the treat. Even though I am 79 & my husband is 97, we felt like young kids as we climbed to our rooms along sturdy & attractive walk ways that created a charm not found on simple walk in properties.

Our stay at the Inn at Occidental was nothing short of wonderful. The Inn is an idyllic retreat in a charming little village in Sonoma County. The staff are most friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
