Bed was very worn, carpets very frayed where it meets the tile. No dining or bar on site was a bummer. LOVED the pool n hot tub!!! Pool was heated n felt wonderful even in the morning. Next time would prefer the 2nd level only to avoid hearing every step from the room above

Plenty of parking. Our partial ocean view has the bed facing the patio and the rear garden, and you can see the ocean and sunset. Great view. Fire pits are very nice in the rear garden, great place to gather and hangout at night. AC is quiet and works very well. Bedroom is comfortable. On-site dining is closed, but the two hotels next door have full restaurants that is within walking distance. Has nearby beach access which is awesome. The bed is comfortable and water pressure is good. The furniture however appears a bit aged, especially the sofa in the room. It was also rather dimly lit, there's a backlight in the bathroom mirror but the light is weak so it's a bit hard for my wife to do her makeup. A floor lamp also has burned out fluorescent bulb when we checked in, but staff soon came to replace the bulb with LED. Sound insulation is ok, you can hear someone talking in the hallway or passing by, which is typical. There's no breakfast or anything, but the lobby does have coffee, tea and hot water throughout the day and night. There's also a small pool and spa in the parking lot, with no view of the ocean which is a shame. Overall a decent hotel

The ladies at the front desk were so pleasant and helpful. The view was gorgeous and the bed was so comfortable we had a hard time getting out of bed. Room was very clean and very well stocked. Enjoyed our stay very much!

The room was nice but no microwave. You have to go to the office to use the microwave. The mattress was not very comfortable and the restaurant would have been great but it has closed down. The floor in the bathroom area was slippery from whatever cleaning product they used.

Everyone was nice, the pool and hot tub were beautiful. The room could’ve used a little bit more, dusting the shampoo and conditioner had dust and left over soap scum. The curtains were stained and had a horrible smell. Some of the furniture was broken. Some blood stains on the comforter and towels

The room was dingy and the floors were dirty, found dog kibble. The carpet was old and nasty-you don't want to walk on it. The bathroom door frame had a chunk out of it, closet hard to open and close, musty smelling because the bathroom has no ventilation for showering, toilet made continuous noise, shower dripped constantly. The beds sit in frames that are not clean. Overall it's old and not taken care of. Parking is $10/night.

Very friendly reception staff, nice bleach smell in linens and room reassured us that the room is clean. The bathroom needs updating. The carpet needs replacing or shampooing and the room door has quite a gap around the door frame. We had a disturbing experience as someone violently shook our door trying to get in. Not sure if it was a confused inebriated person or an attempt to break in and grab a wallet etc. We were on an end unit … look all locks to be safe.

Needs a serious upgrade. Carpets replaced. First room we were in was dirty and the carpet had ugly spots on it. Asked for another room and it was better. Didn't have a microwave like the first room.

Stay was mediocre. Room felt dirty and we found bugs. The tub wouldn’t drain. You have to pay for parking, I’m not sure why since they own the property and parking lot. The walk to the bluffs was nice and easy, the fire pits are a nice touch and the front desk women were nice. No breakfast. Free water and coffee at the front desk.

Room was spacious. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was clean. Fireplace in the room was cute. Patio wasn’t very private. Neighbors were loud, drunk, and doing drugs. You can hear every step the upstairs neighbors make. We were near the ice machine so that was also loud. Guest at the pool were loud. We could hear everybody walking by the door. Very noisy stay.

Clean room, my only complaint is bed placement vs slider/ window. If the bed was placed on the opposite wall, the neighbor wouldn’t be able to step onto their balcony and look right into someone in the bed. Not much privacy with the curtains open.

We stayed in an ocean front king room. Love this view, fire pits and scenic walk. My problem was the couple above us, Sounded like they were moving furniture at 2;30am. Then they were up at 5:15 walking , showering, toilet flushing 5 times, etc... all this went on for 2 hours! Totally ruined my morning. Take my advice and only stay upstairs. And for those of you staying upstairs, please be kind to the guests below you!!!

Lovely view, great property very close to walkways that overlook the cliffs. Walls are thin- can hear the people above walking around and hear their tv. But staff was great, and the patio was so nice to sit and watch the sunset.

The people at the front desk were amazingly friendly and helpful; originally had issue with the room - previous occupant must have brought a pet - and Jodi went above and beyond to address and switched out room as soon as available. Quiet location and views are outstanding.

A one day stop after dropping of my son at UCLA for a break from the long drive home. Staff was very helpful and friendly and I felt very welcomed. Offered suggestions for different restaurant options. The biggest plus for me was how quiet it was whether the walls and floors were well insulated or I was just lucky, but I had the best sleep in a hotel EVER!

I had came in ealry just to see if my room was ready and the lady rudly responded no all rooms will be ready at 4 not earlier so of course i went in at about 3 and i see her checking in another family and when i went up the other was so sweet and kindly let me check in ealier vecause there was rooms available. I've never had someone act so rude just by asking if my room was ready

Besides the wonderful view, the best part of the Spyglass Inn was the wonderful office staff. They were very welcoming and helpful, and Heather even gave us clean wine glasses & bottle opener to take to our room. I highly recommend this hotel, and be sure to enjoy the fire pits overlooking the ocean waves!

Our room got double booked so as it got later got got comfy and someone almost came in and saw us in our comfy state. My husband ran to the door so he didn’t get to come in all the way. So this was not a great experience but everything else was fine and clean and comfortable

Loved the view from the ocean facing rooms and the walking path behind the hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn't allow pets in ocean view rooms, no micro, no ice machine, no restaurant, and 3 miles from the Pismo Beach Pier which isn't within walking distance. We were surprised to find out that they added occupancy taxes to a pet fee which was very disappointing to learn upon checkout.

I haven't been here for a while, but nothing has changed, for better or worse. However, this location is quite rare. It's not in an upscale residential area, and it doesn't feel cheap, and it blends in nicely with the coastline. I recommend not missing the beautiful sunrise and sunset.

I've stayed here several times & the Spyglass is just above the beach but it is above a bluff so you need to walk to the beach below. Great sunsets. Spyglass Inn is central to Five Cities area, San Luis Obispo & Santa Maria area so you can access highway 101 to any locations easily. The Spyglass inn restaurant is closed & being re-modeled now as the original owners retired in November 2024 so new owner & the reopening at a unknown date as of October 9, 2025. I highly recommend Spyglass Inn for any stays in the Pismo Beach & Central Coast Area.

The hotel is in a great location on the water. The rooms could use updating, starting with the carpet. The firepits outside are a nice touch and the area surrounding the property is nice and convenient. Overall good stay.

Plenty of parking. Our partial ocean view has the bed facing the patio and the rear garden, and you can see the ocean and sunset. Great view. Fire pits are very nice in the rear garden, great place to gather and hangout at night. AC is quiet and works very well. Bedroom is comfortable. On-site dining is closed, but the two hotels next door have full restaurants that is within walking distance. Has nearby beach access which is awesome. The bed is comfortable and water pressure is good. The furniture however appears a bit aged, especially the sofa in the room. It was also rather dimly lit, there's a backlight in the bathroom mirror but the light is weak so it's a bit hard for my wife to do her makeup. A floor lamp also has burned out fluorescent bulb when we checked in, but staff soon came to replace the bulb with LED. Sound insulation is ok, you can hear someone talking in the hallway or passing by, which is typical. There's no breakfast or anything, but the lobby does have coffee, tea and hot water throughout the day and night. There's also a small pool and spa in the parking lot, with no view of the ocean which is a shame. Overall a decent hotel

The room was nice but no microwave. You have to go to the office to use the microwave. The mattress was not very comfortable and the restaurant would have been great but it has closed down. The floor in the bathroom area was slippery from whatever cleaning product they used.

Stay was mediocre. Room felt dirty and we found bugs. The tub wouldn’t drain. You have to pay for parking, I’m not sure why since they own the property and parking lot. The walk to the bluffs was nice and easy, the fire pits are a nice touch and the front desk women were nice. No breakfast. Free water and coffee at the front desk.

We were looking for an ocean front property during our weekend wine tasting and beach combing adventure. Spy Glass was just the place we were looking for. Staff was very attentive, recommending local restaurants, providing extra pillows, even prepared s’mores kits we could purchase to use at the outdoor fire pits. Ocean cliff side views and a great hiking trail all in all just what we needed for a quick restorative weekend

The grounds are beautiful. The view and sound of the waves crashing are amazing. The room was quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Upgrade to a beach view room with a balcony. You won’t regret it! Purchase the s’mores kit at the check in desk to enjoy around one of the three fire pits. We met a wonderful family from Switzerland. And get up early to enjoy the beauty of the ocean alone. (But being a blanket or towel because the chairs may be damp from overnight fog.)

The rooms are cute with gorgeous ocean views. However the rooms need major updating. Dirty old carpets, torn stained cushions on balcony chairs, torn leather chair. Desk with broken leg. Fridge had horrible smell because of freezer burn and needed to be defrosted or replaced. Terrible rusty shower head with NO water pressure. Dust, debris and potato chips left on the railing of sliding door from previous guests. Honestly if this hotel didn't have the gorgeous ocean views it should be 80.00 dollars per night not worth 350-400 dollars per night !!!! I hope they renovate and at least get rid of the carpets and broken furniture.

Lets start with this. Beautiful ocean view from outside patio. But ive stayed in Best Western that was way cleaner and nicer inside. Place is way outdated. Needs some major upgrades. I would not stay there again. I paid almost $900 for two nights. Not worth the price at all.
